Asking The Right People For Donations To Your Charity

If you want to make money for your organization or charity, you need to know where you will be getting your money from. Of course, you will want to be able to appeal to a wide range of donors, but in fact you will get the most money by targeting donors.

You have seen this in action already in fundraising efforts you have likely observed: Cancer societies often appeal for donations from people who have lost someone to cancer; Girl Scouts target customers leaving grocery stores as these are likely candidates to buy a box of cookies. Targeting your audience and carefully planning where you will look for money will help ensure that all your resources all well-spent and that you get the best return on your time and effort investment.

So who gives money?

Plenty of people and groups are willing to give money to non-profit organizations that support a good cause. Some of the people and groups that offer money are:

Individual People or Donors: Many non-profits, especially the smaller ones, get much of their money from concerned individuals. People are extremely generous about supporting causes that they believe in. Some will donate just small amounts of money - sometimes just a few dollars at a time - that can quickly add up.

More affluent philanthropists may offer you large sums of money. No matter what your fundraising goals in the long run, you should spend at least some of your fundraising efforts trying to reach individual donors. Not only are these donors likely to support your group if your group seems to offer a legitimate help to society, but educating individual donors about the importance of your cause will help spread the word about your group’s mandate and programs.

The more individuals know about your group, the more your group is likely to thrive. Another benefit of individual donors, especially for the smaller non-profit, is that individuals are often quite community-minded. If you are a small group mostly interested in helping the local community, local donors are the ones most likely to be interested in - and supportive of - your group.

Companies: Industry is actually a big supporter of non-profits. The profits made by companies in your area are pumped back into the community in many ways - including through employment, taxation, and through direct donations. Browse through your local papers and look for articles about corporate or company donations and sponsorship.

You will notice that some companies and industries in your area are especially adept at contributing to charities and non-profit groups. In some cases, companies contribute in order to be a part of a community or in order to bolster their image in a community. In many cases, companies and industry give to charities because an owner or shareholders believe strongly in a cause.

Many companies and larger industries have a large amount of money, and in some cases they may be willing to share a small amount with a worthwhile cause. Even if you cannot gain on-going support from a company or industry, these sources are often great for individual donations or support. For example, if you are organizing a fair or sale, a company may be willing to grant supplies, volunteers, or money in exchange for some free advertising, which can be as simple as a large banner at your event proclaiming “refreshments generously provided by Acme Bakery.”

Governments: Local, state, and federal governments are a huge source of money for non-profit groups.

Other Charitable Groups: Non-profits often help each other. Larger organizations such as the Red Cross or United Way will often give support and even money support to local charities and groups doing similar work. Churches, schools, and local groups will often fundraise or gather donations for a group they believe in. There are also larger foundations and philanthropical groups, such as the famous Rockefeller Foundation, which exist solely to help other groups and individuals do charitable work. These groups can be a great resource, and, large and small, they should not be ignored.

Making Money Through Affiliate Marketing

One of the easiest ways to bring in additional money is through affiliate marketing income. Essentially, you can add links from your site to others and when one of your visitors clicks on the link and makes a purchase, you get credit for the sale and receive a commission on the amount. How much commission is agreed upon by you and the store ahead of time. There are different types of affiliate pay scales, including pay per click, pay per lead and pay per sale but the bottom line is that your visitors have to click through your website in order for the commission structure to kick in.

Generally, pay per click is a set amount for every time one of your visitors clicks through to another site and has a sustained visit. Many require a minimum number of seconds on the page to qualify. While pay per impression counts the number of times a stores link is displayed and pays a few cents per thousand. The generally accepted and preferred method of payment is through pay per sale or registration. When one of your visitors signs up for service or makes a purchase you receive a percentage of the amount spent.

If the offering is just for registering, then a set amount per sign up is paid to you. Many times there is a minimum amount that is due before payment is made, which can vary from $10 to $50. When a person becomes an affiliate for another website, they are assigned a tracking number that is used in every link from their site to their affiliate. When a person clicks on that link, a cookie is dropped on the visitors computer to track their future visits.

Each time that visitor visits the online store, the cookie lets the company know to give you credit for any activity, regardless of whether the visitor arrives through your site on a direct location. However, if the person frequently deletes cookies from their computer and accesses the website directly, then you will not receive credit for the sale. If you have an active website that receives a lot of traffic, you can add to your income by adding affiliates to your site.

It is recommended that you offer sites that are related to your site, as visitors to you will be more likely to look at other sites the links are recommending, if they are related to the subject focused on by your site. They already have an interest in what you are offering and the links are simply expanding on that interest. On most business related sites, it is advised to steer away from gambling or adult oriented sites that may be considered inappropriate by many other businesses. Although these sites usually generate a higher commission level, if your visitors are offended by this type of site, they may stop visiting your site all together.

A Brief History of Upholstering

It is widely thought that the craft of upholstery evolved from that of the tent-maker. And it does seem a likely development. Although tent-making is now quite a separate and a very prosperous trade, it is not so many years ago that many branches of that trade were carried out by the upholsterer.

The Upholsterers’ Company was granted a charter in the year A.D. 1626 and is one of the oldest of the City of London Guilds and Liveries Companies. Its coat of arms being a shield with three tents. It was first emblazoned in A.D. 1465.

One of the first developments from tent-making was ‘wall hangings’ and draperies at windows and around beds. This is a branch of the trade that has almost died out. At least the wall hangings and bed draperies. The window drapery has since grown enormously, incorporating jobs like blind fixing, loose-cover making and bed-cover making.

The first signs of comfort for chairs came with the making of cushions, but it was not until the reign of Queen Elizabeth I that the stuffing of furniture began to evolve. From then on the craft of upholstery increased and was in great demand, reaching its zenith probably in the late Victorian era and early Edwardian days.

By this time the standard of workmanship and versatility in England was really magnificent. It may well have surpassed the art of the French and Italian craftsmen who were considered supreme.

At this point it may be as well to point out and consider the numerous jobs that came under the proud title of ‘journeyman upholsterer’.

Basically of course he was a ’stuffer’, which really means an upholsterer as the layman knows it. In other words, he built up from a frame a piece of furniture padded with stuffing. He also undertook to measure, cut and fix curtains, blinds, draperies, loose covers and pelmets and swags. This included things like mantelpiece drapes and bed draperies which were very popular in those days. Indeed all types of draperies for furniture became most elaborate, as did the window dressings. Deep swags and tails for the window headings suited the tall windows of the wealthy client’s house. These were usually heavily trimmed and sometimes surmounted by elaborate wooden cornices.

Floor coverings came under the upholsterer’s jurisdiction. These included carpets, linoleum and art felts. And on a more macabre note, he lined coffins. Until the turn of the century hanging wallpapers was yet one more task in the furnishing trade that was carried out by this craftsman.

This may sound a pretty comprehensive list in these days of mass production and prefabrication and probably strikes one as being in the dim past. But I can still recall doing all these jobs, with the exception of wallpaper hanging, during my years of apprenticeship. My grandmother used to tell me that her father, who was an upholsterer, went to work in his top hat and spats which was a symbol of the prestige in which this craftsman was held.

The all-round upholsterer still exists today I’m glad to say, and is found usually in the good-class furniture retail stores of the provincial towns.

Getting The Most Out Of Studying Your Ancestry

There is no more fascinating subject in which a person may become occupied than an examination into the history of his ancestry. The study of human beings is an interesting one, especially when they are the particular human beings from whom the student has derived his existence, his character, his likes and dislikes, and those elements which differentiate him from every other human being and constitute him an entity with individuality.

A large number of people are becoming increasingly interested in the study of their ancestry. Persons everywhere are inquiring as to who were their progenitors, when they came to America, where in this country they settled, in what direction they followed the tide of migration as it moved into new settlements in early days, what they accomplished in business, in education, in public service, what place they occupied in the development of the state and the nation, who their children were and what became of them, and so on with many questions, the answers to which are an engrossing study.

The business of answering these questions has become a profession and many persons are following it with more or less success. To them, however, it is purely a business. There is nothing about it which vitally concerns them except the wages derived there from.

There are also many persons taking up this work who have no intention of becoming professional genealogists or making the study a vocation.

They seek to answer their own questions and desire the sport connected with the search, and have come to realize that finding one’s ancestors and learning to know them intimately through records and history cannot produce its greatest enjoyment if it is to be accomplished through a third and disinterested party. Like many of the pleasures of life, ancestor hunting must be experienced first hand if it is to possess real charm.

To many people the search for ancestors and family connections cannot be prosecuted through the hired worker because of the amount of money involved in the transaction. Family research is a great gamble. Sometimes a few hours work will produce marvelous results and at other times, days, weeks, and sometimes months will be consumed with very little accomplishment to show for the work done. When the search is being paid for by the hour it is often very discouraging and unless a person is financially able to spend considerable money it may prove a disappointing business.

Many people with a keen interest in their progenitors and a longing to know more about them make no move to satisfy their wishes or answer the questions which arise concerning such matters. This is because they are fairly well convinced that they cannot afford to hire the work done and that they do not possess the ability to do it themselves.
The study of the history of a family may properly be divided into two distinct branches:

1st. Those who are studying from an ancestral point of view which is the history of a portion of many families converging in one person in the present, usually the student himself, and,

2nd. Those who are studying from a genealogical point of view which is the history of many families diverging from one ancestor at some distant point of time.

The former is a very easy and simple proposition and one that any person with ordinary intelligence may undertake without special training or preparation with a fair expectation of reaching successful results. The latter demands more training and skill if success is to be obtained. With proper introduction to the work and guidance, however, the layman need not hesitate taking up the construction of a genealogy confident of producing a creditable piece of work which will find its place among family histories of the first class.

What Do You Do If Your Why Isn’t Big Enough?!

When I share with others that I’m training for a marathon, they inevitably ask, “How far do you run in a marathon?” The answer is, of course, 26.2 miles. Then they ask, ‘Where is the marathon?” My answer this time is Washington D.C. and the Marine Corps Marathon.

The next question I get is “Why? Why would you run 26.2 miles voluntarily?!?”

Initially, I wanted to run because I wanted to lose my ‘baby’ weight after my second child, Ashlyn. However, for whatever reason, this goal alone didn’t have a big enough ‘why’ attached. I was inconsistent and uncommitted. I’d run three days then miss a week, over and over again.

I knew I needed a worthier goal; a challenge that would cause me to dig deeper and commit more fully with greater attention and intention in order to succeed. I decided I needed to run a marathon. However, once again ‘running a marathon’ didn’t have a big enough ‘why’ to pull me into that place of lasting commitment. Again, I would run consistently for a few weeks then slack off. I was never going to get there unless I found my bigger ‘why’!

So, for my first marathon, I had to make my ‘why’ bigger than just me alone. I joined Team in Training which raises money for the Leukemia Society. Now, I had to not only train and run 26.2 miles but along with my brother, Chance, who runs with me, we had to raise more than $10,000.00 dollars! I have a special place in my heart for Team In Training and the Leukemia Society. I lost my grandfather to this terrible disease long before I should have and I felt that if I could make a contribution that helps in finding the cure that saves someone else’s grandfather, father, or loved one, then maybe, I had my big enough ‘why!’

Sure enough, this was the ‘why’ I needed. Chance and I ran the Mayor’s Midnight Sun Marathon in Anchorage, Alaska last June and raised a significant amount of money for a worthy cause.

If you have a goal that you aren’t able to fully and intentionally manifest, it may be that your ‘why’ simply isn’t big enough.

Let’s look at how our ‘why’s’ affect us as a society. We know that welfare doesn’t work. Is it because most welfare recipients ‘why’s’ aren’t big enough to do anything different? A welfare mother wants a better life but as it stands, although she’s not living any form of an easy life, at least she doesn’t have to work her fingers to the bone for ‘enough’ to get by on.

Additionally, she risks what she does have if she finds a job that pays too much to continue receiving assistance, but not enough to live on her own. Many do not have a big enough ‘why’ to break out of the
system.

This same ‘why’-deficient apathy can be seen in certain subsets of our veterans, our physically disabled, Native American communities, and in the trust-fund babies that were born with a silver spoon, for example.

If the ‘why’ isn’t big enough to choose to do something with our life, then we just don’t. (This statement is not just about the above-mentioned subsets, but about all of us!)

What about the phenomena that happens to men who retire and suddenly experience progressive illness and early death? Research has shown that employees who retired at age 55 had almost double the mortality risk of those who continued working into their 60s Shell Health Services study, according to the report in the British Medical Journal, published Oct. 2005.) Could it be that suddenly their ‘why’ for living and staying healthy, their sense of purpose and meaning is no longer valid?

How many extraordinary, revolutionary changes have occurred because someone stood up for what was ‘right’ when their ‘why’ got big enough? Was it their ‘why’ that inspired the men and women who rallied to create the declaration of independence, the civil rights movement, or a woman’s right to vote, for example?

What would happen if your WHY was big enough?

If your ‘why’ was big enough, you would be inspired to not just visualize, wish, and hope for your dreams to come true, you would get out and take action to make them come true. You would follow that guidance that says, “Take a risk, now!”

You would find the courage to change career paths, read that book, learn a new skill, hire some help, take a class, or interview someone that’s already doing what you want to do, if your ‘why’ was big enough.

Relating to my own life and another time when my ‘why’ wasn’t big enough, I recall the shift that changed it all for me. When I first started my business, my son was only a few weeks old. I was living with my husband in a very bad relationship but I had my basic needs covered, not by me but because my husband was supporting me.

I wanted to earn a living with my business but truth be told, I wasn’t. It was only after I left my husband and declared that I would find a way to make this business successful even if it meant living in my car to do it, that I found the conviction to manifest success!

This is when my ‘why’ got big enough. I wasn’t able to focus my mind and body enough to create success until I removed my safety blanket. When I found myself faced with either choosing success or choosing to live out of my car with my newborn son and my dog, I shifted into a place of determination; a focused sense of purpose that nothing and no one could stop.

What would happen if you were forced to succeed because your ‘why’ was big enough? What if you were told by a court of law (or an enforcement party), “You will lose your loved one (your children, your husband, your wife, your mother, your father, etc.) if you don’t earn 1 million dollars in 90 days”?

Do you think you could do it? In the book The One Minute Millionaire by Mark Victor Hansen and Robert Allen, this is exactly the test that the lead character goes through. She must earn 1 Million dollars in 90 days or lose her children forever. Suddenly, her ‘why’ for creating success just got big enough to make her turn on her passionate fires of determination to move and and earth to make it happen!

In your life, where is your ‘why’ big enough and where is your ‘why’ not big enough?

Signs and signals that your ‘why’ isn’t big enough:

* procrastination
* self-judgment
* embarrassment
* self-doubt
* indecisiveness
* confusion
* fear of making a mistake
* fear of failure
* apathy
* all talk but no action
* inconsistent action

When you can identify your big ‘why’ and combine that with your intentional thoughts, you will create the success you really want.

When we combine a big enough ‘why’ with a focused body/mind (our y’chi) we enact the laws of the Universe in ways that will literally part the seas for us!

For this marathon, my ‘why’ is about seeing things through (something I need to work on); about personal physical mastery (something that I want to make sure I’m walking my talk on), perseverance and finishing what I start (how can I ask you to do this, if I can’t?)

My ‘why’ this time is that if I’m going to ask my clients to break down all obstacles to their success - then I better be able to do it for myself. I found my ‘why’ again!

For you and your big goal, where is your ‘why’ and if it’s not big enough, courageously choose to make it bigger. The Universe always supports bold, courageous and faith-centered action. Trust in the Divine and follow your guidance.

An Important Reason To Learn To Play By Ear

Listening to music is fun; playing music is more fun; playing music by ear is the most fun of all. If the player remembers the music he is playing by means of his ear, he is playing by ear. But most players who have learned to play by the traditional method of reading notes on a page and then punching keys on an instrument do not trust to their ears to tell them what is coming next. Instead, they remember the notes by name or by their chord name, or they have a visual memory of how the notes look on the page, or they use some other nonmusical system of recall. Naturally this turns their attention from the sound of the music and encourages the habit of watching keenly the mechanics of playing with almost total disregard for the music itself.

Practicing music is not fun. So say most of the children who are taking lessons and many of us adults who once took lessons but “wouldn’t practice.” But practicing is indeed fun for many children. Listening to music is fun; and when listening to music is the chief activity in practice, practicing is fun. This is even truer for adults than it is for children; children get pleasure from the intellectual and physical exercise involved in practice. However, when practicing the music, and not the mechanics, the result is fun!

People who play by ear are generally considered to be especially talented. This is entirely a fiction. They do not play by ear because they are talented; rather they are talented because they play by ear. They use their ears in determining what is correct to play, and this constant activity develops their ability to manipulate musical sounds.

In contrary fashion, the person who never plays by ear frequently renders himself less and less “talented.” When this neglect is perpetuated year after year, the individual does become one-sided and cannot play even the simplest little tune by ear. This does not mean, however, that he cannot learn to play by ear but rather that he particularly needs to use his ear and overcome his weakness. If the advanced musical performer is unable to play by ear, he can improve his performance decidedly by learning to play by ear - even if he learns this method of playing only to a rather small extent. The musical feel and insight which this develops is commonly considered talent.

Anyone who can hear can learn to play by ear. Nor is a teacher necessary. Learning to play by ear is much like learning to talk; one fools around with the various keys or finger positions until he strikes a combination that he wants or likes, and then he knows how to get it again. The basic nature of such learning consists in forming an association between some muscular pattern and a pleasant response. The pleasant response of a musical sound or phrase associates itself with the finger pattern that produced it, and when we have learned this we have learned how to get that musical idea whenever we want it.

The boy whistles and the girl turns round. The next time he wants the girl to turn round he does not say to himself, “Now I must whistle”; nor does he stop to think how he holds his tongue or what particular inflection he needs in his whistle. He just whistles. The bond between his desire and the muscles of his mouth is firmly established. He could have learned to do this by imitating someone else; we can learn to play by ear this way, too. He could have been told how to make this particular whistle, or he might even have read how in an instruction book; but in that case his whistle probably wouldn’t have been effective. I doubt if the girl would have turned round.

So it is in music. When we couple the musical effect we are seeking with the feeling in our muscles, the bond is much more efficient than when it goes through intellectual and other nonaural channels. Notation and technique tend to interfere with this process. You are your own best teacher for ear playing.

Women, Would You Like To Be A Man For A Day?

Would I like to be a man for a day? Sure. I’d like to walk a mile in my husband’s Nikes. It would help me understand the male species. However…if I got lost while walking the mile, I’d ask directions.

Men are physically stronger, faster and have less body fat; but what I envy most is their clothes. I would love to be able to wear a different shirt and have the result be considered a different outfit.

Males don’t appreciate the advantages they have. For example, they don’t appreciate shaving - but they should. It removes the top layer of facial skin before it turns to wrinkles. Women pay big bucks for laser treatments or chemicals peels to get the same result.

Men don’t have to fight for equal pay with women. Unfortunately, women in their struggle to get through the glass ceiling (as well as sweep up the broken glass) have managed to gain equal rights to stress-related heart disease.

There’s an equal rights bumper sticker that reads, “A woman’s place in the house..and the senate”. Right on! Life has qualified us for those positions. Everyday we solve problems regarding health, transportation, education and more - and all within budget!

Several years ago the men in my family gave me a license plate frame that read, “The best man for the job is a woman”. I thought it was an amusingly stimulating thought - until one day when I was getting into my car in the library parking lot.

A man passing by read the license plate frame and started yelling obscenities at me. When I drove out of the parking lot, he followed me in his car for several blocks, yelling obscenities out his car window.

Because I had seen this man carrying library books, I assumed he could read; and if he could read, I assumed he was educated. Obviously, not educated enough.

It’s no longer a man’s world. Stewardesses are now flight attendants. Actresses are referred to as actors. Soon a mentor will be called a peopletor.

If a man continues to expect his home to be his castle, he should expect the Tidy Bowl man to be sailing his little boat in the king’s throne. If a man thinks his dog is his best friend, his dog must cook, clean and like to watch football.

Although I like new experiences and challenges, I’m sure one day as a man would be enough for me. After all, it didnt take God that long to decide to improve his work by making woman.

Choosing The Right Player For A Basketball Team

Most of us have to take what we get, but if you have a choice, and you have enough boys out so that you have to cut the squad, select your personnel as follows:

(1) Size (2) Speed (3) Shooting (4) Intelligence (5) Competitive spirit.

This is the era of the “big” man in basketball. Most of the successful teams in the country, both on a collegiate, as well as high school level, have had the tall boys helping them. However, the place is still available for the little man in this era of giants, if he can get the job done. He can do this by playing big, that is, mastering the fundamentals of shooting, dribbling, passing, and having that competitive fire that enables him to earn his place on the court. As I said, it is true that most of the good teams have big men, it is also true that over the years most of the outstanding teams have had at least one good little man. The U. of Kentucky is a good case in point. Year after year Kentucky has a little guard to spark them.

On a high school level, I can point out any number of good little men in Illinois who have left their mark on the hardwoods. There are many players who are “small” physically, but whom earn their place on the basketball floor, because they play big.

Regardless of the style of play used, the player must have speed, and know how to control it. Just to run with reckless abandon does us no good, he must have control of his footwork, be able to feint, and acquire the ability to start, and stop quickly.

Regardless of what you do well, to be successful at this game you must put the ball through the hoop. Long hours must be spent with the boys helping them develop into good shooters. If I find a boy who can hit the “hoop” with any consistency at all, he is on the squad; I’ll teach him the other things. A good example of this, is a small sophomore whom I had several years ago. I watched him play one day and remarked to our sophomore coach, “That kid certainly can shoot, but he can’t do anything else. I doubt if he ever plays for me.” Nine games after the season opened the boy moved up to the varsity, captured a starting position with his shooting, and played regular for me the remainder of the three years. He captained the team during his senior year. He had a funny looking side-arm jump shot, but it went through the hoop. That is all you ever strive for; just find someone who can get the ball through the hoop. You can help them develop the other skills.

I like to see some intelligent boys on the squad. They don’t have to be the 125 to 135 I. Q. boys, but your coaching job is naturally much easier when you get boys who grasp your instructions quickly. The best students in the classroom, with equal physical endowments, will make your outstanding athletes. The tendency is also for an intelligent boy to keep his head better and make the right decisions in a tight situation. Your worries about eligibility are lessened considerably with boys of this caliber.

Competitive spirit is an intangible that is one of the most important traits a boy can possess. I feel that you can add to the competitive fire of a boy but if he doesn’t possess some native competitive spirit when you get him, then I don’t feel it can be instilled by the coach. I have a motto that hangs in our varsity room, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” The boy with the fierce competitive desire to win will “bow his neck” and give it his “best shot” when the competition grows keen. A boy with this spirit, although maybe lacking in innate ability, deserves a place someplace on the squad. He will “pay for his keep” by helping you win a tough game some time.

Super Golf Swing Improvement Made Easy

Most golfers don’t know that eighty percent of the world’s golfers have a handicap of 18 or more. Finding ways to improve your golf game, then applying what you’ve learned and practicing, is the number one way to get ahead of the game. Even the guys who play golf for a living and get the best golf instruction in the world still struggle to improve their golf; and they practice each and every day!

Visualize where you would like the ball to land, as you swing. Always be aware the mental aspect of the game contributes one way or another to the difficulty of the golf swing. If you’ve hit with your golf driver perfectly once, you can do it every time; the subconscious mind knows the correct number and sequence of muscle contractions and nerve impulses needed, called muscle memory.

As the body matures, the ability to rotate the upper torso is affected by age, and the hand action can also slow down requiring a slightly stronger grip. It’s difficult for a golfer to practice hitting shots longer than short pitch shots unless one pays to play golf or pays to practice at a driving range or indoor golf training facility. After the ball is hit, the follow-through stage consists of a continued rotation to the left.

One of the problems that most inexperienced golfers share is they think too much about their swing. Putting can become a nightmare and a condition called the ‘yips’ has affected not only amateurs but professionals as well; get expert advice and consider a golf swing aid. Try not to grip the club too tightly.

Accomplished golfers purposely use sidespin to steer their ball around obstacles or towards the safe side of fairways and greens. Make sure to use the proper technique. Many golfers who are strongly left-handed in their daily life prefer the right-handed golf swing.

Swing slowly and steadily using a nice rhythm. The most important thing about the golf swing is the angle and not the strength that’s applied to it.

Using some simple tips, techniques and stretches, you can increase your drives by up to 20 yards– practically overnight. Conditioning your golf muscles will reward you with straighter swings. Hold a medicine ball and turn back and forth; it must be rotational to improve your driving distance.

Sporting goods stores have golf aids to improve your game. If you’re a golfing novice just starting out, it’s easy to become overwhelmed. Golf swing aids come in all shapes and sizes including apparel type accessories to correct alignment or a golf club add-on accessory to monitor your swing.

Be careful about the claims on TV commercials and magazine ads; seek expert advice before you buy because they may not live up to their claims. Aids can be found online and are often cheaper. Look for aids at your local golf course.

Overall, investing in golf swing aids will greatly improve your golf swing and your golf game. Keep in mind that with some aids, you may still need advice or help from an expert. Ask an expert, who is not associated with the shop you would buy your golf swing aid from, for advice on the right aid for you. There are a number of good golf swing aids on the market today. There are aids that will help you with swing alignment.

Try to concentrate on one golf swing weakness at a time. There are hundreds of useful golf tips to seek out in golf magazines, consumer magazines, sports magazines, in books, ebooks, DVDs, online and offline. Take as many private lessons as you can afford with a good golf pro.

The Three Most Important Factors When Perfecting Your Golf Swing

There are prior factors and there are post factors in a golf swing. Let me call upon a scientific formula to help explain this order of importance that I am discussing. The formula reads as follows:

Ultimate results depend on post factor efficiency.

These seven words succinctly describe the artistry of a golf swing; there are things to do, but there is a certain time to do them.

First the golfer must handle his weight; but shifting the weight from one foot to the other does nothing of itself, it only places the player in a position where he can use and utilize his body correctly.

Secondly, only when the golfer has the basic or prior footwork so that he is in a position to use his body to swing the club, are the hands free to exert over the club the proper sense of position and control, and the ability to apply the club correctly to the ball. In other words, a golf shot only flies as the club makes it fly, and how the ball flies is a direct result of the club position. The club position is a direct result of what the hands are doing, and what the hands are doing is the post factor that determines ultimate efficiency.

No wonder so much time and effort is concentrated on the correct grip in golf.

I have often said that a runner runs with his feet, but a golfer golfs with his hands. Of course, for the runner to get his feet in action, there is a lot of arm and shoulder work, and for a golfer to get his hands working, there is a lot of footwork and body action.

To repeat, there are three basic factors in golf:

Footwork, for balance
Body action, for power
Hand action, for club control

But to these three factors there is an order of importance, a delicate sense of timing that so many golfers miss. They fail to get the knack of properly coordinating these three factors into a working arrangement.

As there is a certain order of importance, so likewise there is a certain order of performance in these three basic operations of a golf swing. In other words, in the properly executed golf shot the player moves smoothly from one operation to the other, but all operations function collectively towards the final goal of applying the club to the ball. So there is in the golf shot an order of importance and an order of performance which precludes any such thing as a one-piece swing. Be prepared to reach your ultimate goal of a smooth, flowing performance through a natural step-by-step procedure rather than through any short cut.

The other comment I wish to make is that if there is error in the performance of any operation in the swing, then such an error would multiply and increase as it would be carried on into the next operation. So there must be sure performance in the execution of each of the three factors.

Arthritis Pain Relief Secrets Revealed

The pain in arthritis can be moderate to severe. Arthritic joints appear to be larger, are stiff and painful, and usually feel worse the more they are used as the day progresses. Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis. I found relief from my arthritis pain, naturally, and you can do it too. I know the secret to getting rid of arthritis pain and it’s not taking NSAIDs or any other drugs.

Cartilage contains chondrocytes, water, proteoglycans and collagen; chondrocytes are the basic cartilage cells and are necessary for balance and function. Joints are designed for normal and painless movement and are primarily supplied by the synovium and cartilage. In young people, cartilage is about 85% water and in older folks about 70% of cartilage is water.

One possible cause of arthritis is the inflammatory response due to the over-reaction of the immune system to an injury or other assault in the body, like an infection. Genetic factors are thought to be involved in about 50% of osteoarthritis cases in the hands and hips and a somewhat lower percentage of cases in the knee.

Possible causes of arthritis include lesser known: bleeding disorders, like hemophilia, which causes bleeding to occur in the joint; disorders such as avascular necrosis, that block the blood supply closest to the joint; and conditions like hemochromatosis, that causes iron build-up in the joints.

If your osteoarthritis is affecting your load-bearing joints, keeping your weight within a normal range is important. Some foods and beverages to avoid that are inflammatory are: caffeine, salt, sugar, meat, dairy products, additives, soft drinks, white flour, white rice, alcoholic beverages, fast food, processed vegetable oils, refined, packaged and processed food. Watch your diet closely - load-bearing joints are affected by excessive weight; they are the hips, knees, feet and spine.

Studies done on antioxidant vitamins question the value of these supplements; it’s clearly better to consume these antioxidants in living foods because they may also need to work with other nutrients present in the foods to work properly. Some people swear by morning drinks of raw apple cider vinegar and honey for arthritis pain relief. A study in Great Britain touted the beneficial effects of cod liver oil on osteoarthritis; relieving pain and stiffness, and reversing the destruction of joint cartilage within 24 hours.

I eat a diet of living foods (fruits, raw veggies, raw nuts and raw seeds) to relieve my arthritis pain and this should be tried for at least 30 days, thus eliminating any foods that might be culprits. Nutrition experts say it takes a combination of supplements, that no one supplement can relieve arthritis pain, build cartilage, etc.

For snacks, choose raw nuts without salt instead of lifeless roasted nuts. Make smoothies with fruit only, using a base of two bananas, adding a cup of frozen or fresh blueberries and mango chunks or substitute any other fruit and add an energy boost of two tablespoons of coconut oil; add one or two leaves of kale for another highly nutritional boost — no one will ever know.

Stretching and warming up the joints should always be the first step in your exercise routine to make your joints more flexible. There are a number of exercises which can benefit arthritis sufferers regardless of how much restriction of movement there is. Try to keep painful joint areas in motion, even in a limited manner. Use Taiji health balls, with the chimes, to strengthen the finger joints: hold two balls, move in a clockwise circle with your fingers to rotate them, then try counterclockwise and do throughout the day.

Exercise in a heated pool; it will help reduce the pressure on your joints and the heat will help you loosen those joints. Sign up for water aerobics classes at your local community center. Don’t just sit there, keep moving.

Be aware that the use of NSAIDs or Cox-2 inhibitors do not halt the progress of osteoarthritis and may even hasten the onset.

Only you know which treatment option is best for you. Let your doctor and pharmacist know about any other drugs, herbs or other supplements you’re taking, to ward off any adverse drug reactions that might occur from the combining of different drugs or supplements.

Once you understand the facts about arthritis, possible causes and treatment approaches you can take, you’ll be on your way to recovery and pain will disappear. The biggest secret to arthritis pain relief is to change your diet now; eat foods that are alive. Begin your treatment program with a diet change, exercise and weight loss plan to see results and pain relief fast.

A Life of Grace

Do you know what grace is?

Grace is a word that has become so common in many circles that people take it for granted. Many have made it such a part of their Christian vocabulary that they seldom stop to think about how awesome grace really is and what a difference it has made in their lives.

The theologians define it as the unmerited favor of God. But really, it is a free gift. An undeserved handout. God chose to give you light so you can get out of the dark. He chose to cure your blindness and give you sight. He GAVE you LIFE. Eternal life, fulfilling life close to him. That is grace.

Grace is powerful and life-altering. It brings purpose and meaning.

Grace is… God chose you. God drew YOU to him. John 6:43 says: “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him.” Think about that. God loves you so much that He drew you to Him knowing that, on your own, your couldn’t come. You wouldn’t come. So he extended His grace to bring you into his family. He exhibited His grace by sending His son to die on the cross that you deserved, in your place.

The Bible tells us in John 1:1 that Jesus was the Word and with Word was with God before the beginning and the Word was God. That’s the pre-existent Jesus Christ.

Ever since man rebelled and fell into sin and darkness God has been there, a light shining in the darkness that came to earth and became a man so we would find the way, the truth and the life. That’s the incarnation of Jesus Christ.

Let me challenge you to look at your life.

What is it like? Jesus wants it to be eternal. That is the glorious security we have. Once saved, forever saved. Jesus wants to give you a present life that is full and abundant. That is why He came. That’s why grace has been extended to you.

What does it mean to have a full and abundant life?

Think of the 23rd Psalm, perhaps the most quoted and comforting part of the whole Bible. “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures.” We all know those verses.

But here is something many people DO NOT know. Sheep will not eat and drink when they are laying down. It is a fact and it gives very special meaning to the phrase “he make me to lie down in green pastures.”

You see if a sheep is laying down, even in the greenest pastures and even with the most tender grass within an inch of its muzzle, the sheep will not eat the grass.

Instead, if it is hungry, it has to scramble up to its feet, bend over and then eat what was much easier to reach before.

Thus, when the psalm tells us that the Lord Jesus Christ, our shepherd, makes us to lie down in green pastures, it means that HE is able to satisfy us so completely that we cannot possible yearn for anything more.

That is the joy of a full and abundant life in Christ. For He is the bread of life that satisfies all our hunger, the water of life that quenches our deepest thirst.

See how amazing grace really is? That’s why that song is so powerful. It changes us, Makes us new.

WOuld you like to know that grace? You can. The Bible is clear on how. Just come to Christ. Ask Him to forgive your sins. Tell Him you are a sinner and you want his forgiveness. That you are sorry you sinned because it is a crime against Him. Tell Him you want Him to take control of your life. If you sincerely pray such a prayer, in your own words, you WILL experience His grace.

And once you do, your life will never be the same again.

Amazing, huh?

Alternative Natural Acne Treatments That Work For You Now

The problem with most acne treatments and acne products is that not everyone reacts the same way to the same treatment; what worked for one may not work for another. There is hope — keep researching, learning and testing and you’ll find the right treatment for you. The key to healthy, clear skin is to choose a skin care regimen that’s right for you based on the type of acne condition you have.

Acne vulgaris is most commonly experienced around puberty, typically of the face, shoulders and chest. While almost all young people experience acne at least once, it’s been reported that 47% of those in their 20s and 30% of those in their 30s had acne. Nearly 80 percent of people from ages 11 to 30 years have acne, most often on the face, chest and back. Most pimples are found on the face, neck, back, chest, and shoulders.

Acne, zits, pimples, blackheads, whiteheads and many other skin disorders are usually, but not always, the result of a bad diet. As time goes by, more research may help determine just how male and female hormones influence acne and the role diet plays. I think the cause of acne is related to our acidic, inflammatory ’standard American diet’ (SAD) and that would also influence all of our hormones including stress hormones. Experts just can’t agree on what causes acne.

You want to avoid squeezing, pinching, picking or popping your pimples because it can cause scars or leave dark spots on your skin. One treatment method some people have used is applying cornstarch, egg whites or milk of magnesia as a facial mask. Too many chemicals can strip your skin of its natural oils and the skin will overproduce oil to compensate for it, blocking your pores and causing more acne.

Acne and its treatment is one of the most misunderstood topics there is when it comes to acne skin care. This is a little messy but you can try making a paste by mixing three tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon together and applying the paste on your pimples at bedtime for two weeks, and wash it off each morning; honey has anti-bacterial action - a cheap, natural home remedy. Try applying a thin layer of coconut oil and massaging it deep into the skin to heal and soothe the affected area.

Never underestimate the healing, restorative power of a good night’s sleep. Remember, that even the most gentle and natural products you might use to clean your face can leave your skin a bit dry; use coconut oil as an excellent way to re-hydrate the skin after using any acne commercial or natural cleanser. Try not to touch your affected skin to eliminate possible contamination.

Use exercise such as Yoga and Tai Chi to improve blood flow to the skin and support the healing process; it also boosts the condition of your internal organs which allows them to eliminate toxins more effectively. Any makeup you use should list on the label non-acnegenic or non-comedogenic. It bears repeating, you want to be good to your skin and never pop or squeeze a pimple no matter how tempting.

Since the latest research indicates a connection between stress and acne, make an effort to cut down on stress any way you can. Shave carefully and try both electric and safety razors to see which works best for you.

Acne scars can give the skin an aging look. Severe, inflamed, cystic acne always leaves scars after healing. Healed acne leaves scars in some people however, and it isn’t easy to predict who will end up with scars after an acne outbreak and who won’t.

Some alternative doctors recommend eating a raw clove of garlic daily for acne; you can chop one up and add it to your daily salad! In any case, no matter what skin or acne treatment you choose, whether it’s chemical, drugs, alternative, or natural methods, changing your diet alone will be the best treatment you can do for your acne and you’ll achieve overall good health in the process.

People with skin disorders such as acne, rosacea, and psoriasis often suffer from constipation; if you are, make sure you’re drinking lots of water every day and add more natural fiber from raw fruits to your diet.

The best acne treatment is a diet that will help the body eliminate waste; if you’re eating the standard American diet (SAD) it’ll be reflected in your skin. Drink lots and lots of pure, filtered water every day.

For an easy fiber boost, mix in two tablespoons of ground up flaxseeds into raw applesauce, from two to three apples, made in your food processor. Eat foods that contain essential fatty acids. Eating foods with essential fatty acids are particularly important to people with dry skin or acne.

Consider taking cod liver oil or fish oil supplements every day. Eating fruits that are red or orange in color will help improve you skin health and help to prevent acne. Good nutrition will help your skin from the inside out.

Put two tablespoons of coconut oil in your all fruit smoothies and blend. When the skin is dehydrated, dead skin cells remain on the skin which may block pores and promote acne; drink plenty of water.

Unclean skin favors the development of pathogenic organisms; the dead cells continually slough off of the epidermis and mix with the secretions of the sweat and sebaceous glands and the dust found on the skin, to form a layer on its surface. Sunlight, water and air play an important role in keeping the skin healthy.

One should always think about cheaper, alternative, natural, effective treatment methods to get the best cure or solution to their acne, zits, pimples and blackhead problems. Don’t give up - try everything you can until you get relief from your acne. By simply following a plan you’ve developed for yourself and sticking with it, you can reduce the severity of your acne or even eliminate it entirely.

Water Features Create Drama in Your Garden

Do you think that your flower garden needs a little more drama? Consider adding a fountain water feature. Installing a water fountain is really not all that difficult, and the upkeep is minimal.

I love to sit by my fountain and relax with a good book — or even just watch the birds taking a bath. Hummingbirds, especially, like to take water fountain “showers.” So, if you add chemicals to prevent the green algae, be sure that it won’t harm the birds.

Since we live in southern California, our water fountain is surrounded by tropical plants and flowers. The types of plants that you use will be determined by the location that you live in.

When you add a water feature to your garden, consider the type of garden that you have. A natural rock waterfall might fit your theme better than a stand-alone fountain.

If you are having trouble deciding what kind of water feature would be best for your type of garden, go to the library and look at some gardening design books and magazines. I’m sure you’ll find a few that you like and that would be suitable for your area. Also looking online for ideas is a good choice.

You can have your water feature be part of a pond for a more natural look. If you have a formal garden, the pond would most likely be made up of concrete. Less formal gardens would do well with rock or brick. Pond liners can be purchased that can make your pond look more natural.

Be sure that you have access to electrical power before you make your final decision on the placement of your water feature. You can have an electrician add an outlet to a building or patio structure that is close to your garden. There are also extension cords available that are meant to be buried under your garden or lawn soil.

Water fountains and waterfalls are known for their soothing qualities. Doing yoga exercises near the sound of water falling helps to concentrate your positive energy. You can meditate to the quite beauty of sight and sound or just sit and relax.

There is something else that you should think about when deciding whether or not to add a water feature to your yard or garden. Some of your closer neighbors might not agree that the sounds made by your water feature are soothing. However, most people will appreciate it.

So, if you’re looking for a way to give your yard or garden more beauty and drama, think about adding a water fountain. It’s not as expensive have you would think it would be and the beauty it provides is worth the minimal cost of the installation.

Secrets Of Artificially Dwarfed Bonzai Trees

The majority of the dwarfed potted trees generally seen are developed from ordinary nursery stock or from somewhat dwarfed trees found in a natural habitat. The practice of artificial dwarfing might be more aptly described as “revolutionizing” normal growth. What, then, is this practice?

Let me first take some examples of the ordinary nursery stock, and tell about them. Three- to ten-year-old young trees of the following are suitable for “revolutionizing”:

Evergreens: Japanese White Pine (Pinus parviflora), Japanese Larch (Larix kaempferi (L. leptolepis)), Hi-noki Cypress (Chamaecyparis obtusa), and such conifers as are grown in nurseries for ordinary garden purposes or for forest plantations.

Deciduous: Japanese Maple {Acer palmatum and varieties), Daphne odora. flowering Peach (Prunus persica varieties), Japanese flowering Apricot (Prunus mume varieties), Japanese flowering Quince (Chaenomeles lagenaria), garden varieties of Hall’s flowering Crabapple (Malus halliana).

Such ornamental trees and shrubs have trunks and branches that are comparatively easy to bend. They are taken from nurseries in autumn, and potted. A small pot is preferred to accustom the plant to the smaller space for root development and to restrain the growth of foliage.

However, when selecting the pot, consider its depth; the shallower the pot, the better the result, but it should be of fairly generous width. When the trees are started on their way to dwarfing, they are generally planted in shallow containers, as they look better and seem to have a more aesthetic touch.

In late winter or early spring, possibly while drinking tea, you begin to fancy the shape of the tree when finished. The man experienced in training with wire changes ordinary little trees into different forms almost instantly, sometimes to a shape seen in naturally dwarfed trees.

The wiring specialist’s way is about like this: in the autumn the tree should have been potted so that the trunk is inclined to slant. Then in spring, to shorten the trunk in height and lower the branches, a wire is fastened to the trunk near the surface of the soil in the pot, and again attached higher up so the trunk can be pulled downward, away from the direction of the slant.

It should be fastened at the desired bend with the wire. After the operation the little tree will have been considerably lowered, and then another wire is fastened at the forked part, the end of the wire coiling around the trunk; carefully wind the wire toward the tip, having an inch or more in intervals of the spiral. The branch is then ready to be shaped and fixed to the desired form.

The second upper branch is treated in the same way, then the third, and so on. After one or two years, in many cases, the trunk and branches should be settled in the desired positions, so the winding wires are no longer needed, and may be taken off. From year to year the tree is improved in form and foliage as the result of careful pinching of certain tip buds, shortening or removing undesired strong shoots, repeating the pinching often in a season according to the kind of tree and further winding the wire to change the form or improve it.

Gradually the artificial look lightens and the “made-up” tree becomes the natural-looking tree. The course of training for years is very fascinating to fanciers, novices and experts alike. It is not unusual in a day’s stroll in the villages or towns in Japan, wherever you may be, to come across people who train dwarf trees — they are a set of cheerful boasters.

Harness the Power of Print Ads

So what’s the magic formula for making your money multiply in print advertising? For small and medium sized businesses, print advertising feels much like going to Las Vegas and putting money down on the table. And often times, the owner gets burned.

Well, the problem centers on the way you’re going about it. The first step is a realization of what’s going on around you. I suggest that you pull out a phone book and open it up to an area of specialization that is not yours (this will give you a less emotional, more objective perspective). There are typically a minimum of 15-20 competitors in any niche. Next, I suggest putting yourself in the position of a consumer
trying to determine who they should spend their time calling.

As you can plainly see, everyone follows a pretty set formula (which they basically copied from each other). And that is…”here’s our logo, here’s what we do, please decide you want our services and call so we can close the sale”. There’s little that really differentiates one vendor from another. And so, the truth of the matter is that a number of the vendors you’re looking at don’t get good lead traffic from their yellow page ads. And it’s for this reason that you can shine in print advertising.

What would happen if you were to approach it differently and more elegantly for your prospect. What if, instead of ‘let me sell to you right out of the gate’, you would offer them some information they could use. What if you were to give of yourself before the transaction and assisted them immediately? The answer is that the consumer would bust down the door looking for you.

For example, let’s say that you’re a roofing contractor. You could put an ad in the yellow pages that shows the logo, says, “We’re Johnson Roofers.. we specialize in repairs, maintenance, replacement, and planning. Here’s a phone number for our representative. Please go ahead and call.” What if, instead, you were to immediately report called “5 Mistakes to Avoid When Selecting a Roofing Contractor” or “Transform Your House into a Dream Home - 5 Roofing Options to Suit any Budget”?

This technique is called permission marketing where you’re offering information up front in order to get information from them which will enable you to continue to market to them (remember, it takes about 7, 8 and 9 times for them to have contact with you before they’re ready to buy). The technique is applicable for all forms of advertising…newspaper ads, internet ads, direct mailers, etc.

The truth of the matter is that people don’t want to be sold to…the want to buy. And when you approach them in a non-intrusive, friendly, information-sharing way, they will respond positively. Now a lot of owners are frightened using this approach because it’s “unorthodox”. Yes, I suppose it is if you consider “orthodox” to mean ineffective. My suggestion is to use this technique and at least see what it yield.

Taking On Acting One Step At A Time

Many people work a long time, perhaps an average of six years is typical, in order to secure the first beachhead on the island of success.

Some actors, and it happens all too often, mistake that first beachhead for the island. They think they’ve clinched the career itself when all they’ve really got is a foothold on it: a foothold on the first rung of a very tall ladder.

There are many beachheads to be taken, many rungs to the ladder. Each new role that can be made to serve as a springboard to the next, and better, role is a beachhead.

Each new level of your career is a beachhead. As you work your way up the ladder from being a “day player” to that first enviable niche, an actor with an “established” weekly salary, and from there to the point where you are paid a certain sum for playing a part, and on to a guarantee of X number of pictures a year at a fixed sum - all these are beachheads.

But you, as an actor, haven’t got the island of success secured until you have taken the last beachhead; the one that assures you of continuity in your career and a genuinely solid place in the entertainment world.

In the early phases of his career an actor is as great as his last show. Only the seasoned star rises above his vehicle and has the staying power to survive a bad show, lift a fair one above mediocrity, and always enhance a good one by his very presence.

If you want to “live your own life,” don’t become an actor. As an actor you will have to live the life that will be best for your career. And you will have to accept one final source of authority to determine what that best is.

You will have to put your money into the right kind of clothing and accessories for the furtherance of your career, not into a helter-skelter assortment of clothes that you happen personally to prefer. You’ll have to get the haircut that will get you a job, not the one that follows a fad.

The world of the actor is made up of highly competent specialists who are vastly important to the entertainment industry - and to your career.

No single person ever “makes” an actor. Many people have a hand in creating him - possibly from some of the very substances inherent in you.

The head electrician, you will eventually discover, is just as much a specialist in his particular field as the writer or director is in his. The man in the cutting room is, in his way, just as important to a film as its producer.

The people in wardrobe, hairdressing and make-up departments know how the actor should appear in relation to a production as a whole. With their specialists’ eyes, they “see” the actor as he can rarely see himself.

The sound engineers, who have learned to hear as the sound system hears, know how the actor should sound. The publicists know how to spotlight public interest in him. The agents know how he should be presented for available roles that are right for him, just as the teachers and coaches know what he is professionally capable of doing.

All these people, along with other specialists, know best what is right for the actor. They are not prejudiced by personal whim. They arrive at their decisions by workmanlike co-operation, functioning in a chain of command that goes, link by link, to the top.

Thousands of careers have been wrecked by actors who “changed horses in the middle of the stream.” Those actors go from teacher to teacher without ever finding out what any of them have to offer. They switch from agent to agent before a long-range plan for their career can be developed. They go from one publicist to another, destroying the valuable groundwork of every publicity campaign. Finally, they fight their way out of legitimate contracts - and into oblivion.

The entertainment field is the only business on earth in which a girl who might never make more than forty dollars a week running an elevator can be molded by specialists into a commodity worth thousands of dollars weekly to one of the major industries of our time.

While the successful actor acquires prestige and social standing in plying his well-paid profession, he attains other gratifying goals.

Notice there was no mention of sales. Sales is not done by the reps, instead we use an auto responder to close the business. That’s the amazing thing of the 21st century and we should utilize this technology to build our wealth in our sleep.

When we start making 1 sale online, all we need to do is duplicate the system and teach this to everyone in the downline so that they too can earn 4 to 5 figures online simply by using the internet and a laptop.

Here’s what is used to convert network marketing leads without talking to anyone.

a) Website

Every member will have a website of their own. This is a website that belongs to the team and not the network marketing company. Everyone in the system are aware of the steps to take to build the business and sell the products. The website will also be loaded with methods the team uses to build the business with the internet. Most of the work is already done and the downline need not worry about html or how to set up an auto responder.

By leveraging on what is already existing, new non techy members can leave out the technical stuff and short cut their way to earning recurring income online.

b) The team’s Auto Responder

This auto responder normally belongs to the upline. In this way, the upline assists the downline with tips and tricks on succeeding in the business by email. Not only that, the auto responder allows through duplication of the system and everyone gains access to an automated sales man which closes sales on auto pilot. Additional tips can be also found in the back office, such as effective ads and avenues to advertise which bring in sales.

c) Email series with each affiliates embedded links

The magic of auto responders is that a single auto responder can be configured for every single team member. Amazing isn’t it? 1000 members can all benefit from a single auto responder so long as the team knows how to configure it for everyone’s success.

d) Other forms of income in the site

Other then the main network marketing business opportunity, other streams of income can also be added to the site. Network marketing leads that do not join the business, may be interested to purchase products that create wealth through other methods such as adsense and blogging. When they do, the members still get to earn a commission even though no one joined their business. This is called affiliate marketing which can be used to supplement the main network marketing income stream

By using such a system to convert network marketing leads, this allows a stress free network marketing experience. If you’re ready to use such a system to grow your network marketing business, check this out now http://www.myuam.com/x.cgi?id=480&a=t&tid=2

Getting The Most Out Of Amateur Boxing

Professional fighting is a business conducted for monetary gain. Amateur boxing is a competitive sport or recreation. These distinctions should be kept in mind at all times.

We are directing our instructions, advice, and suggestions to the coach supervising boxers individually or in groups; to the boy who, motivated by a desire for competitive or recreational activity, wishes to learn the fundamentals of boxing; and also to the father who acquiesces to the urge to teach his son the art of boxing.

We intend to be very fundamental in our approach, and thus to enable even an inexperienced coach to put across readily an effective instructional program to his boys. We want to make it possible for the boy to whom personal supervision is unavailable to teach himself. We also hope to save the father lacking in boxing experience the ignominy of receiving a “shiner” as he attempts on bended knees to impart to his son the principles of the “manly art.”

We believe that too often the fundamentals of boxing are overlooked in favor of complicated punches, series of maneuvers, and fancy footwork. Just as fundamentals such as tackling and blocking pay off in football, so it is the properly executed left jab, straight right, and an occasional left hook that bring victory in the boxing ring.

Experience has proven that the methods of teaching and learning boxing employed throughout this book are just as adaptable to youngsters as they are to boys of high school and college age. We have found through years of work with “kid” classes that lads of seven to twelve years are often more adaptable to these methods than their older brothers who may have acquired erroneous ways which must be righted.

My personal enthusiasm for amateur boxing stems from my experience with the hundreds of fine young men with whom I have worked as a boxer, as coach at the University of Wisconsin, while in service with the Marines, and as a coach of the United States Olympic team. They have been the sons of poor men and rich men; they have come from the big cities and from the farm; they have ranged in weight from 90 pounds to 250 pounds; some have been timid, others bold; many had never boxed before. They have in no way been “typed.”

And when our active association as student and teacher ended each boy without exception was the richer for his experiences. Not a single boy has borne a mark that might not just as well have been inflicted in a sliding accident, in a friendly scuffle, in an accidental fall, in a football game, or in a basketball contest. And the poise, coordination, confidence, physical conditioning, and competitive experiences gained were apparent without exception. Many of these boys have since become lawyers, doctors, teachers, or businessmen.

One of our own Wisconsin boys — Woody Swancutt, who was a two-time national collegiate champion — distinguished himself as a B-29 pilot over Japan and was later selected in competition with thousands of others seeking the honor to pilot the plane dropping the first test atom bomb at Bikini. Woody’s foremost rival in college — Heston Daniels of Louisiana State University — flew one of the United States Army planes participating in General Doolittle’s first raid over Tokyo.

Here again the pilots were carefully selected from among the finest physical and mental specimens in the United States Army Air Force. The famed and great Jimmie Doolittle himself first gained prominence as an amateur boxing champion.

A Captain of Navy Air personnel who was in a large measure responsible for the selection of candidates for Naval Aviation placed boxing number one on the list of sports that best qualify a boy to be a pilot. He attributed this to the splendid coordination; to the lightning-fast timing and sharp reflexes; to the superb physical condition; and to the “will to win,” or competitive spirit, developed in a well-supervised boxing program.

Decorating A Cake With Scenery

One of the terrific ways to decorate a cake is with scenery. This can be achieved systematically as will be shown. The cake is first iced in a thin layer of buttercream and then poured with a lukewarm fondant. Before painting the scene, the cake should dry for one hour. Scenery painting in icings can be practiced on corrugated cardboard circles before attempting an actual cake scene.

A thinned down boiled icing and vegetable paste colors are used for this type of painted cake top. In painting a scene such as the boat, clouds and land in background, a picture may be obtained and copied in the following manner:

With a brush approximately 11/2 inches in diameter, a small amount of thinned down boiled icing is placed in the skyline area. Using the brush in a back and forth motion, the skyline is painted in.

With a tiny brush, place four or five small dots of blue paste color in the skyline area. Using a larger brush in a series of back and forth motions gives the skyline a blue variegated effect.

A large cone of white boiled icing with a 1/4 inch opening at the tip is used in a zig-zag motion at various intervals to obtain the cloud effect. Go over this cloud area with a clean brush to give it a smooth realistic look.

The water area is made by piping on a thinned down white boiled icing and then adding a few drops of blue and green paste color. Then, with the use of the large brush in a series of sweeping motions, create the greenish blue water effect. Use the deeper colors for the distant water. The ship may be put in with the fill-in method or it may be outlined and then painted on with the brush as illustrated.

Before putting in the clouds and after the blue is put on, a few dots of yellow, orange and a tint of violet may be brushed right above the horizon to give a sunset effect. After practicing a few simple scenes such as these, you will see that scenery painting is simple and fast once you have acquired the technique of using the brush properly.

For a Western scene, the sky can be painted in first as previously described. The mountains can then be piped on with a white and brown icing. Then, using a small brush, a few dots of deep colored icing can be put on the crevices and then smoothed nut with a larger brush. The cowboy and horse can be painted on with a very small brush in deeper colored boiled icing thinned down to the consistency of oil paints.

A Halloween scene can be painted in chocolate, orange and yellow. In a scene such as that, you must keep in mind the angle of the moon’s shadows. This cake can be bordered with individual shells using the No. 30 star tube and was overpiped in a deep color with a No. 3 tube using a question mark design.

Arthritis Pain - How To Treat It And Get Relief Now

I know the secret to getting rid of arthritis pain forever and it is not taking drugs. I got rid of my arthritis and arthritis pain forever by doing one single thing - read on.

Arthritis is usually found in the joints of the fingers, feet, knees, hips, and spine. In osteoarthritis, any one or more affected joints experience a progressive loss of cartilage, which is the slippery material that cushions the ends of bones. Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis.

It’s important to learn plenty of facts about joints and arthritis to help you understand how to treat arthritis better. Cartilage is one of the few tissues that does not have its own blood supply. Collagen is the main protein found in all connective tissues in the body, including the muscles, ligaments, and tendons.

An inflammatory response causes cytokines, to gather in injured areas and cause inflammation and damage to body tissue and cells; it’s known to play a role in rheumatoid arthritis and other muscle and joint problems associated with autoimmune diseases.

Possible causes of arthritis include lesser known: bleeding disorders, like hemophilia, that causes bleeding to occur in the joint; disorders, such as avascular necrosis, which block the blood supply closest to the joint; and conditions like hemochromatosis, that causes iron build-up in the joints. Most experts now believe that osteoarthritis results from a genetic susceptibility that causes a biologic response to injuries to the joint, which leads to progressive deterioration of cartilage.

A study in Great Britain touted the beneficial effects of cod liver oil on osteoarthritis; relieving pain and stiffness, and reversing the destruction of joint cartilage within 24 hours. Watch your diet closely - load-bearing joints are affected by excessive weight; they are the hips, knees, feet and spine. Dried Montmorency tart cherries seem to be helpful for arthritis pain also.

Gluten may be a culprit in arthritic diseases including fibromyalgia; avoid wheat, barley, rye, spelt, triticale, kamut and oats (although not a gluten grain it gets contaminated at the wheat mills). Many arthritis sufferers have changed their diets and noticed significant or total improvement. The first step in managing your arthritis is to change your diet; I think all experts would agree on this.

Some of the supplements commonly used for relieving arthritis pain, but I don’t know if any of these work, are: glucosamine, chondroitin, bromelain, grapeseed extract, omega-3 and omega-6, cod liver oil, manganese ascorbate, MSM, boron, niacinamide, pantothenic acid, vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E.

Try massaging your fingers or other affected joints with coconut oil twice a day. Natural treatment for arthritis is usually a better choice because it’s non-invasive to the body. Studies done on antioxidant vitamins question the value of these supplements; it’s clearly better to consume these antioxidants in living foods because they may also need to work with other nutrients present in the foods to work properly.

Sign up for water aerobics classes at your local community center. If you have pain and swelling in your fingers, try squeezing Thera-putty made for this purpose or exercising with two Chinese chime balls. There are a number of exercises which can benefit arthritis sufferers regardless of how much restriction of movement there is.

Use Taiji health balls, with the chimes, to strengthen the finger joints: hold two balls, move in a clockwise circle with your fingers to rotate them, then try counterclockwise and do throughout the day.

Keep a bedside basket of arthritic aids for arthritic hands (theraputty, hand grips, Taiji chime balls, etc.) to be used at bedtime or while watching television. Try to keep painful joint areas in motion, even in a limited manner. Even if you don’t think you can exercise, you can do some movements.

Drugs commonly used for arthritis pain can cause ulcers, heart disease and liver or kidney damage. Only you know which treatment option is best for you. Be aware that the use of NSAIDs or Cox-2 inhibitors do not halt the progress of osteoarthritis and may even hasten the onset.

Stopping the progress of your arthritis as well as stopping your pain should be your number one goal. Your treatment plan should include an anti-arthritis diet, exercise, and a positive mental attitude. Following these suggestions can help you get back in the swing of things and allow you to spend your days enjoying life once more.

Real Estate Investment - A Guide On Buy To Let

The process of purchasing an investment property is very different to that of buying a home for example, for you and your family to live in. There are many other considerations that must be taken into account before making this big step.

The buy-to-let boom of recent times has seen many more competitive mortgage deals become available, adding fuel to an already blazing fire. Many borrowers have found that they have come unstuck whilst jumping on the bandwagon without properly researching the proposed venture.

Thorough research of the market is essential. Even if you decide to borrow a substantial segment of the purchase price of the house, it will usually cost you a considerable amount to set yourself up as a landlord.

The location and the type of property you are going to purchase are the two most important factors to consider - for example, demand might not match the number of rental properties in certain areas and one bedroom flats may be easier to rent out than two bedrooms.

It is always a good idea to approach a number of letting agents in the proposed area you wish to buy, in order to gain an insight into rental demand - this is also a good way of finding out how much rental income you can expect.

When you look to purchase your own home, a lender will look at your income in order to assess how much they would be prepared to lend. With a buy-to-let mortgage however, m
