Reasons to Buy Used Motorcycles Rather then New Motorcycles
July 22, 2008 12:00 am MotorcyclesThere are many reasons to buy used motorcycles rather then buying new motorcycles. Used motorcycles can be worth just as much as a new one is, as far as blue book value is concerned, but not always, especially if you happen to get one that becomes a collectors item for one reason or another. Here are some reasons to buy used motorcycles rather then buying new motorcycles:
1. This is your first motorcycle.
If you are new to the biking world, and this is your first motorcycle, used motorcycles might just be perfect for you. Being new to the biking world, it might be easier to scratch, dent, ding, or otherwise totally disable your motorcycle if you know that it is used motorcycles rather then brand new. Even more experienced riders and drivers prefer used motorcycles because of this reason. If you are on a worn in motorcycle, you might feel more at ease taking it on dirt roads and up mountainous climbs. New motorcycles tend to have that new motorcycle shine that no one wants to mess up. You might end up babying a new motorcycle where you wouldn’t used motorcycles.
2. Thrill of the customization.
Many bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts prefer to purchase used motorcycles just so that they can fix them up and sell them later. If you are new to the customization game, it is perfect to start out on used motorcycles that way if you make a mistake, you won’t feel like it is costing you thousands of dollars. If you have an idea in your head, but you can’t figure out just how to get it right, used motorcycles are perfect for experimenting on. If you want to try a bigger engine but this is the first time you have tampered with an engine, used motorcycles are perfect to practice on. If you mess up used motorcycles it won’t be as hard to live with as opposed to messing up a 20 thousand dollar brand new motorcycle.
3. Low budget.
Most used motorcycles cost far less then a new motorcycle. If you are low on cash, or you can’t get financed for a new motorcycle. Used motorcycles might be the perfect alternative. Used motorcycles tend to cost less and insurance on them are typically less. If any one could use savings it is certainly a new motorcycle enthusiast. Though something else to consider when buy used motorcycles over new ones is that some motorcycles may be more rare then others meaning it will cost more to replace parts. When you have put some equity into your used motorcycles, and you sell them for considerably more then you bought them for, if you decide you want a new motorcycle and your budget now allows, you will have kept from getting in debt deeper then you could safely get out. A low budget is usually a temporary problem, but debt collections and repossessions can haunt you your entire life.
