How Does The New Lexus Compare

Cars and Trucks No Comments

Lexus have revealed their brand new IS F car that will challenge the new generation M3 when it comes on sale shortly. It is the first in the breed of Lexus’s new F breed of performance cars where the F stands for Fuji Speedway in Japan, the country where Lexus test their new high performance cars.

This division can be compared to BMW’s M division or Mercedes SLK. The Lexus is going to be powered by a 5.0 litre V8 engine that is also seen in the LS series, whereas Mercedes have managed a 3.5 litre V8. It will propel the car to the 62 mph milestone in just 4.8 seconds that also eclipses the BMW M3. The engine features a very unique second air intake that allows a distinctive roar from the engine after the car hits the 3,600rpm range. The top speed of this new beast is limited to 168mph which is 12 mph higher than the also limited M3. But the new IS F is capable of a much higher top speed but for some reason Lexus held back.

The new IS F also features a special management system that allows the driver to experience close to the cars driving potential. This system checks and manages all the power and stability control as well as braking allowing the car to keep pointing forwards and restricting the oversteer and understeer of the car during the cornering. This is very clever as it will allow the car to keep very stable and agile even if it is chucked into the corner.

The transmission on the new car is very advanced technologically. Lexus have introduced the new 8 speed gearbox that connects to the very powerful V8 engine. It features a very cool and sophisticated direct shift option as well as a full manual mode. The power is delivered very smoothly and you are always in the power band due to the gears being spread out superbly. The new gearbox has been tweaked by the Lexus boffins and can up-shift in an incredible 0.1 seconds in comparison a normal gearbox takes up to 0.5 to 1 second to change. This allows for fast acceleration as the gear changes do not disrupt the cars speed.

Downshifts are just as amazing as the new gearbox blips the throttle each time to allow for smoothness and synchronisation between gear changes. In the full manual mode the car features paddle shifts on the steering wheel that offers the thrill and experience of a racing car like Ferrari have done in their latest models. The paddle shifters also allow you to decide when to change gear.

The brakes have also been updated on the new IS F due to the huge stopping speeds the car will need to handle with all the new power. The huge 360mm discs and 6 pot callipers do not allow any fade even after repeatedly hard braking. To test this theory Lexus have tested the brakes many times on the longest straight at the Fuji Speedway in many different conditions. The results showed that the brakes worked excellently and that no fade occurred.

The car will be priced around 51,000 pounds that puts it in direct competition with the BMW M3 and the Jaguar XKR. The market is already very competitive and Lexus are making the market even more so by adding their effort. After 1 or 2 years everyone will be able to see whether or not the new Lexus IS F will be a success like its main rivals or falter under pressure.

How To Tell A Persons Age By The Size Of Their Removal Van

Cars and Trucks No Comments

There will come points in a person’s life when a removal company will be called for.

First of all, we have the move from the parent’s home to the university halls of residence. This requires quite a small vehicle, in fact, you’d probably get away with a small Escort type van that will just hold a couple of bin bags of clothing and some basic supplies that will probably last all of one week.

A few short years later, we have the return move. This is when you realise just how much junk you have accumulated over your first spell at living alone. This is when your removal company needs to be equipped with a slightly larger vehicle. There will be even more clothes than before and, given the way some students live, there will probably be a large amount of rubbish packed, just to be thrown away at the other end.

In a traditional family, and this is by no means the case every time these days, the next move would come when setting up your own home. If you have notice that this event is looming and it’s not just a case of your parents becoming sick of you, then you will have time to collect together some furniture in readiness for the life changing event. At this stage, a larger vehicle from the removal company and possibly a couple of large, manly, dark haired men would do the job. Some removal men would also help.

This home, being your first, will be a truly memorable one. It will be the place of so many firsts. You first pay check, your first electricity bill and very probably your first live in partner. This is where you will gather many new belongings and where you will get excited over stupid things like your first very own cheese grater - you would be surprised how we take these things for granted when living with the parents and how much more difficult life is without one!

Next comes moving all this stuff into one household when you get married, or at least get serious enough with someone to consider reproducing. A Luton van is often needed for this trip and possibly, depending on how much of a hoarder you are, there is the possibility of more than one trip being necessary. However, you can relax in the knowledge that it will be quite some time before you need a removal company again.

If you are of the traditional sort and at some time find you and your partner have produced enough rugrats to make this accommodation a bit of a squeeze, then you will be moving on again. This is when you find yourself needing the largest of removal vans. This is when you need those huge vans that you see on the street moving what seems to be a whole tribe from one place to another. For those with a little more sense, the only reason you would need to move to a larger home would be because you have moved up the career ladder and can now afford something a little more spacious - lucky you!

Thus the whole process starts again with the next generation. They, at some point, will be flying the nest with their tiny little removal vans, leaving you and your partner also looking to scale down in the home stakes. Once again, removal vans get smaller as we de-clutter our life and move into smaller and smaller accommodation - anything to deter the grandchildren from staying over - until we end up with minimal belongings in the old folks home.

Removals expert Catherine Harvey looks at the times when people use a removal company and how you can tell where they are in their life.

Mazda Tribute Hybrid Exterior and Interior Review

Cars and Trucks No Comments

With all the high gas prices out there, hybrid vehicles are continuing to become more popular among drivers. There are a few hybrid choices out there, but the Mazda Tribute Hybrid seems to be the most popular of those choices. Several distinct features make up the interior and exterior of the Mazda Tribute Hybrid.

The Mazda Tribute SUV hybrid looks similar to its siblings and is boxier than it is sleek. That doesn’t mean it’s not a sharp looking vehicle. The classic look it has didn’t appeal to a lot of hybrid drivers, and they were less than enthused with the aesthetic features. But that hasn’t stopped consumers from swooping these up in droves. They like the clean lines and familiar look.

And you have to love the ‘it looks like an Escape’ no, it looks like a Mariner’ conversations among hybrid consumers. Face it, people, it looks like both, meaning it looks like a Mazda Tribute. Fanatics will tell you that their hybrid is individual. Their grilles do not have crossbars. The tail and headlights are designed well and elegantly. And their logo says ‘Mazda’.

The fog lights that come equipped on the Tribute are stock and good for trim levels of fog, good for touring and grand touring. The windows are nicely tapered with an ascent towards the back. This is pretty standard shaping for hybrid SUVs big or small that is currently on the market.

Consumers really like the driving position in this vehicle, enjoying the ability of having good ground clearance and excellent visibility all around. This makes it easy to take and park just about anywhere. There is plenty of head room so you won’t knock your noggin and the cargo space is large. The doors are dressed well and the wheels will rock your world. Plus, you can buy this hybrid SUV in a variety of colors.

The Inside:

Convinced to go out and buy one yet? Then go. Run. Get it before they run out of your favorite color. Otherwise…keep reading. You’re going to want to know more about the interior of the Mazda Tribute Hybrid. Considering that most SUVs are pretty roomy, the Tribute won’t let you down.

The driver’s seat is in an elevated position so that the driver has ample visibility all the way around. This is one of the things that driver’s are raving about because they are discovering they can see the road better and still be extremely comfortable. This visibility factor is especially good when the weather is inclement with snow and rain. This is also a big factor safety advocates like as well.

Five adults can sit comfortably in the Tribute and it’s perfect for the family trip. Everyone will be comfortable during long drives thanks to the spacious inside and little storage compartments that hold a variety of things. It’s amazing what children will hide in them and parents will enjoy the small compartments in the front to hide stuff as well.

The center console is nice too with more little compartments for things such as change, cup holders, sunglasses…if it fits in the cubby holes, you can put it in there. Some of the cubbies even have removable pieces to expand or shrink the holes. The cargo area behind the rear seat is 29.2 cubic-feet that expand to 66 cubic-feet when the seats are folded down. The seats split 60:40 which still allows two more people to sit in back when carrying long cargo. And the rear window will open separately so that you can access the cargo area without opening the entire back hatch.

Features of the Toyota Camry Hybrid

Cars and Trucks No Comments

With all the high gas prices out there, hybrid vehicles are continuing to become more popular among drivers. There are a few hybrid choices out there, but the Toyota Camry Hybrid seems to be the most popular of those choices. Check out some of the features of the Toyota Camry hybrid and what sets itself apart from the other hybrids.

Although the Toyota Camry hybrid is exactly the same as the previous Camry sedan models in many aspects, definitely the Hybrid models differ in some ways. As Hybrid cars are run partly by electricity and the rest by gasoline, there is no denial that there would be positive outcome but there would also be a number of negative impacts. Camry hybrid’s later models, such as the 2007 was classified as a “full hybrid”. This is because it could run on gas or on electric energy, depending on the preference of the driver. Nowadays, the combination of both is considered to be more popular and more and more people are considering investing in these models.

While the sales of Toyota Camry hybrid are currently remarkably high, the company is still doing their best to get a greater share in the market. Because of this, a massive and research is being conducted to develop the existing specification of the Camry Hybrid. Based on the current specifications of the Toyota Camry Hybrid, we realize that the hybrid is either superior or just within the average level. In the city, the Toyota Camry hybrid has a 40 MPG gas mileage while if the highway it has 38 MPG gas mileage. It runs utilizing a four-cylinder engine that is using gasoline as fuel. The maximum capacity of its NiMH 245V battery is about 30 kilowatt or 40 horsepower, peaking at about 192 horsepower or 140 kilowatts.

About 2.4 liters of fuel can be accommodated in its gasoline engine while the electric motor is 45-horsepower. There is also a system that helps the Camry Hybrids’ engine to maintain its efficient power band and this is the facilitating by the continuously variable transmission or CVT the transfer of power to the front wheels. With the help of Hybrid Synergy Drive, the engine always remains at a single gear even if the speed changes.

Toyota Camry Hybrid, based on test drives and reviews conducted, can match the acceleration speed of the Toyota V6 Camry. The Toyota Camry Hybrid is said to have a finer acceleration particularly during traffic merges or highway speed, despite being a Hybrid.

Gas Mileage and Environmental Information

The Toyota Camry Hybrid deserves the award of the Green car of the Year as well as the Eco-Friendly Car in 2007. True to its term as a hybrid, the car is known and proven to apply significantly low consumption of fuel. The fact that Toyota Camry Hybrid can run on a combination of a gasoline and electric engines makes this car formidable and worthy of such awards.

To explain the process, if the car was started from at rest point, the gasoline engine is used by the car. Once it gains and maintains its acceleration speed, the car automatically utilizes its electric motor. We can realize that gasoline consumption is lessened. In this way, the economic efficiency in fuel consumption steps in.

No amount of energy goes to waste even when the driver uses the breaks since it regenerative braking system is being observed. The regenerative braking system is the process the mechanical energy produced when stepping on the brakes is automatically transformed into electric energy that is then automatically kept in the battery. Therefore, plugging the car into an electric outlet for battery charging is no longer needed.

There is also a lower amount of emissions. Toyota Camry Hybrid according to test results, were confirmed to produce the lowest amount of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide. These gases are known to be the major cause of ozone layer destruction. We can hereby confirm that Toyota Camry Hybrid is a major breakthrough for the ecological awareness, as it does not contribute to the destruction of the environment brought about by these toxic emissions.

In any factors, Toyota Camry Hybrid has been highly commendable. In fact, the fuel economy department has recognized its US Environmental Protection Agency rating of about 33 miles per gallon. About 700 miles in distance covers the mobility of the car.

Other Features

Toyota Camry Hybrid is known for applying Hybrid Synergy Drive, it uses a computerized system in the engine transmission interior making the vehicle a one of its kind vehicle. Another unique and smart feature is the LED tail lights, as well as the Eco button that helps make the smart adjustment of the climate control feature easier to manage.

To ensure safety, the Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management system is being used for the Toyota Camry Hybrid, note that this system is solely associated with Toyota. This system proves to be very helpful as it helps to detect information from many sensors in the car, respectively, it would trigger the Camry hybrids to set off the respective functions of the car. The control of the Traction of noise, electronic-rake force distribution are monitored by this unique system

As a standard Toyota Camry Vehicle, the safety features are automatically included namely the side curtain bags, anti-lock brakes and side airbags which are mounted on the front seats. Stability control inclusion is an optional safety feature.

With an average current price of $ 26,200, an investment for a Toyota Camry Hybrid is not that bad. Note that the price was set by Toyota Motors at about $25,200 during the initial release of their Hybrids. Although a purchase of a hybrid nowadays can be considered a luxury, we should also consider that the costs of these hybrids are far lesser than the high-end cars. In fact, if we do our research, we can immediately realize that the price of Toyota Camry Hybrid compared to other hybrids in the market is very competitive. Most of the car manufacturers of hybrids mark these models with higher tag price due to the cost of more innovative design, more complicated process to assemble a highly fuel efficient vehicle.

It is remarkable to learn that nowadays, more and more people are considering purchasing these hybrid cars. And this was just after the U.S. car industry suffered a drawback brought about by the dwindling economy, deflating currencies, dramatic increase in fuel and crude oil prices. Buying a vehicle was no longer a priority in the midst of that crisis, but recently the sales figure of the hybrid has shown progress which is why we believe that people are willing to invest on these hybrid vehicles mainly because of its fuel efficient factors. More people are beginning to realize what their investment of hybrid vehicle could give them in return.

For the Toyota Camry Hybrid, I don’t think we have left anything more to say. The car is a certified Hybrid, tested and proven. And much to others regret, there have been no negative feedbacks on this model of a hybrid. Toyota Camry Hybrid is a very good investment indeed, and I were you, I wouldn’t wait any longer, grab your check and contact your Toyota dealer right away!

How to Save Money on Gas Today

Cars and Trucks No Comments

Did you know that only 15 percent of the fuel that you put into your car gets used? The rest of the energy is lost for many reasons. Can you imagine saving 15% and getting more efficient use of your gas? Let’s take a look at some of the things you can do now to get some of that mileage back.

The more that you understand about the way that your vehicle runs, and what it takes to properly maintain it, the more success you will have when it comes to understanding what steps to take to start saving money.

If only 15 percent of the fuel that you pay for gets used that means that by optimizing your car’s performance, and using common sense, you can get back some of what is he wrote it in the rising cost of gas.

Where you by your gas or makes a difference. Try to buy your gas from a gas station that is consistently busy. Simply from buying your gas at a busy station, you improve your gas mileage because the gasoline is fresher, and fresher gas has less contaminants in it. All the old gasoline in the tank will give you poor gas mileage. Over time things like water can accumulate in the storage tanks of the gas station, and still gasoline doesn’t burn as well.

This contamination can mean that the gas you are purchasing is less powerful than fresh gas and will decrease your fuel economy. Try to time your visits to busier gas stations at those busy times but make sure that you’re not in a rush to get anywhere. Time your visit to a busy gas station when the gas station is actually not busy however, if you go to the station when it’s busy you waste gas sitting in line. So remember, off peak hours are best.

When you have finished filling up your gas tank try turning the nozzle of the hose a full 180 degrees. by simply taking this one step, you can add approximately one half cup of gasoline to your tank. Think about this, one half cup at every stop will have gallons in no time. In fact, in about 20 stops your close to a gallon.

Don’t waste your money on high octane gas. For most cars these days, buying higher octane gas is a waste of your money. Regular unleaded has approximately 87 octane already and is fine for your vehicle.

The difference between regular octane and high-octane gas can be anywhere from $.50 a gallon or more.

Octane is simply a measurement of how difficult it is to ignite the gas in your car and has nothing to do with the quality of the gas. Of course, the debate over regular or high-octane gas is generally accepted in mechanic circles but always consult your owners manual or the manufacturer of your vehicle regarding high-octane gas.

Lastly, try not to drive your car when the gas gauge is on empty. A full tank of gas is not necessary, but try not to let your gas tank get less than one quarter tank full. When you get to less than one quarter tank, you start to use the gasoline than sitting at the bottom of your tank and that has contaminants in it. Think about the sediment that has accumulated in your gas tank. You don’t want to give that inside your engine as it will cause sluggish and affect your fuel economy.

These are five easy tips you can use to save money on gas. For more information and more ways on how to save money on gas, visit our website http://savegasmoneyinfo.com.

How Much HHO Or Hydroxy Does The Electrolyzer Produce?

Cars and Trucks No Comments

How to save gas is the biggest topic today. And gas saving devices are seemingly in every corner of the world. Devices that convert water into fuel incorporate several techniques that help to improve fuel economy. The first and foremost is the Electrolyzer. How does it work, and just how much HHO or Hydroxy can it produce?

To begin we need to understand how an optimized Electrolyzer works. This typically requires a working knowledge of several disciplines: Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, And Mechanical Engineering. Electrolyzers make hydrogen by passing an electric current through water containing an electrolyte. They have the potential to lower the cost of producing hydrogen energy through the water electrolysis process. For example, General Electric researchers have built and tested a unit big enough to make a kilogram of hydrogen per hour. Within the next five to ten years, Electrolyzers could serve as the foundation for future hydrogen vehicle refueling stations. The key however, is an optimized Electrolyzer, which splits out the hydrogen in a way that doesn’t require massive amounts of electrical current.

So then how much HHO can typical water for gas Electrolyzer’s produce? It’s low. Maybe 1.5 liters. I have discovered however, that it’s not the huge amount of HHO, but a clever implementation of the system. The small Hydrogen atoms ram onto the gas particles making them smaller and thus more efficient in the combustion process. Of coarse HHO or Hydroxy itself very flammable and will also aid in improving your fuel economy. But the important thing to consider is the interaction of the HHO and the gasoline mist that is in the combustion chamber. It is like putting a needle to a balloon. It only takes a trigger, not a brutal force, to enhance the performance of gasoline.

Ozzy Freedom a fellow experimenter conducted some experiments and discovered the following: “In my car the one jar with 3 amps was enough to give me over 52 MPG average, which is 72% gain in fuel economy. The six-cell arrangement (6 jars) was taking only 6.6 amps, so it couldn’t have been much more HHO than the one (maybe double), and it got me to over 61 MPG, or 107% gain. So I doubled the mileage with a tiny little bit of HHO”. “The 6 cell isn’t just low amps. It is also very low maintenance - I drove 4 months without touching it, and I could go 6 or more months if I had to”.

In my next experiment I’m going to make a High Yield unit. This will require rewinding the tower so that the coils are double density or only about 1/4″ or 6 mm apart. I am working with another electrolyte as well, sodium hydroxide. This aids in producing more HHO than Baking Soda and is safer for the wires. (Just do not use to much NaOH. Overheating can take place!) I will also experiment with sodium citrate, which is as safe as baking soda (used in ice cream). My goal is to double or triple my mileage, while at the same time getting the complete Electrolyzer set to draw less than 20 amps.

So really then, any one can achieve good results with very-low-cost homemade items. You just have to do your due diligence and then build it.

Alternate Fuels - Overcomming Betrayals Passed - Emerging Green Energy Groups

Cars and Trucks No Comments

Society as a whole is submerged… submerged within the depths of marketing campaigns run by corporate giants? This is a question that anyone could ask and anytime it is asked, could unveil a certain degree of truth in anyone’s life “How did the community - the society arrive at where it is at now?”. The energy industry is filled with giants dictating (could you say dictating? how you ever found out for yourself?) what energies are consumed by the general populace.

If you look to see at how products have become popular, you may find it has been through TV, advertising, celebrities - many of which are endorsed by large corporate organizations and carry along with their ads, the message of these corporations. Thus, you are looking at a large fabric through which many of us look, squint or even peer through to see what is actually available to us in almost any commercial market.

In addition, the current fuels which in general use have relatively high and dangerous waste products. Thus, the information could be said to not be widely known by the general populace as when informed, make better decisions. And so we could say, perhaps ignorance is the path to domination by a few and a dark destiny. If you have any questions and would rather not know, don’t take heed the claims of global warming, increased volatility of weather conditions and/or a Mother Earth’s cry for help.

Although, now with the Internet, many new markets, pockets of clique’s, interest groups, etc… have evolved and are evolving allowing for products to be sold which were not before, services to be offered and the demand filled. It is true that now more millionaires have been made than ever before and many of which have come from the Internet.

Apart of this evolution, new information comes to light such as that which has been found with such things as Hydrogen fuels. Most fuels which are seen on the market currently are centralized and controlled under corporate blankets. If you look at petroleum or nearly any current technology used in mass production of general energy consumption (for example the energy that arrives to your house comes from large plants - centralized - the gas from your car comes from large plants - centralized, etc…, etc…) you will find is centralized and controlled by large corporate structures. But along with these new emerging groups are the green energy groups.

Alternate fuels keep punching away at the headlines of magazines and newspapers (possibly filled with propaganda?) about these various fuels. But, the repetition and noise generated by these green energy groups can but help being heard as the news is ground breaking and shaking it as well.

One of these groups is that has been forming at an incredibly rapid rate is the Hydrogen from water groups. These guys are using water and a basic form of electrolysis (use of electricity such as that which comes from you car battery to electrify water and perform a chemical reaction) to create Hydrogen from ordinary water. This technology has existed since 1820 but also with additional new technologies which have come about, this process is now available to anyone.

Hydrogen is also known as a comparable to gasoline as it is 3X’s as explosive and converts back to water when combusted. Why hasn’t it been in use in vehicles already? (If the answer is not apparent, pleas re-read earlier paragraphs and find out for yourself)

The ease of use and availability of the parts to make hydrogen from water has lead many people from the world to take part. The hydrogen’s most popular use has been to supplement car’s gasoline in-take.

Hydrogen use with car installations as a gas supplement is really only the beginning of the use of hydrogen power as 1 jar of water (approx 6 ounces) will convert to large amounts of hydrogen (as water is basically a “compressed” form of hydrogen) and can be used to power houses, RVs running them for weeks.

The proportions may seem fantastic but when you take into account the fact that HHO (hydroxy) when combusted, turns back to water, you have a fuel which has tremendous potential for efficiency, longevity and cost savings due to the fact is this planet’s largest resource available as a free burning energy.

Anyone who does a simple search with Google on the Internet with HHO, hydroxy, HHO generator or any of the such will find thousands upon thousands of documents representing the growing numbers of people across the world who are taking part of this emerging group across the net which is now extending it’s fabric through to local communities and allowing for a greener planet by cutting out pollutants, cutting down on the need for gasoline, improving gas mileage and a myriad of other eco-friendly solutions to normal day living.

So, count your pennies a little less, take hit and punch through a bit of this fabric which has perhaps been paid out in front of your eyes by the blankets of corporate marketing campaigns. Do a search on the net, check out the afore mentioned sites and see, perhaps it is true that you don’t have to spend so much gas or be in the dark on alternative energies.

I want to make a little more worth living for my fellows. Clean burning fuels, alternative energy and a general care for life leads on my way. Please support me and my writing visit

BMW have had a fruitful motorsport history since it first appeared in 1938 in the long endurance event the Mille Miglia. The year was 1938 and BMW entered their 2.0 litre BMW 328 sports car into the famous Mile Miglia road racing event. The car did very well for a number of drivers that were participating in the event and the car managed the class win beating off their competitors.

The following year the car showed more promise but was not able to win the event and that is truely what it’s makers wanted to do. Their patience paid off in 1940 when a BMW 328 car, the car that won their class in 1938, won the whole event after a gruelling 998 miles. The car was helped as it was upgraded with a streamlined body that allowed for more aerodynamic efficiency.

The BMW 328 also won the 1939 RAC rally and then finished 5th overall after 24 hours and 1st in the 2 litre class. This meant that it was considered as the best international sports car of that era in the 2 litre category. At this time, BMW were racing motorbikes, in 1939 one of their motorcycles won the Isle Of Man TT and other events such as the sidecar World Championship. This continued until the 1970’s.

BMW have also had a fairly big history in Formula 1. During the 1980’s they wanted to develop an engine for F1 purposes. The Brabham F1 team saw this opportunity and the engine was first raced in 1982. The engines first race win was at the 1982 Canadian grand prix with the help of Nelson Piquet.

The following season, in 1983, the partnership continued and the BMW powered Brabham took 4 victories on its way to help Nelson Piquet win the title. BMW changed to the Benetton team in 1986 but it only managed to win one world championship race. With the success in Formula 1 at a minimum, BMW decided to drop their engines out of the world championship at the end of the 1986 season.

The engine they used though continued throughout 1987 but was renamed Megatron as they had bought the rights to the engine and they were put into the Arrows team for 1987. The BMW engine was famous for being the first Formula 1 engine to develop more than 1000hp in race trim and nearly 1400hp in qualifying trim when the boost was engaged fully.

They did not enter Formula 1 again until 1997 when they formed a partnership agreement with the Williams F1 team to produce engines for them for the 2000 season onwards. The powerful E41 V10 engine was made for the Williams team and debuted by the team where they managed to get 3rd place in the constructors’ championship and 3 podium finishes. There was always some disagreements during the partnership with Williams and in 2005 a big row broke out about the reliability of the engines and the team was not competitive during the season.

BMW then bought rights to the Sauber team which allowed them to set up their own team and design the car from the ground up. The car was quite successful in its first season earning themselves 5th in the constructor’s championship. Jacque Villeneuve who was with the team when it was Sauber had disagreements with BMW and then left at the end of the season where polish rookie driver Robert Kubica replaced him and instantly showed promise.

Racing expert Catherine Harvey looks at some aspects to the sporting history of BMW and how this has evolved.

Top 3 Ways to Find Motorcycles For Sale

Motorcycles No Comments

Buying a motorcycle can be quite exciting, and yet, quite frustrating as well. Deciding upon what type of bike you want is often time-consuming in itself, especially for first-time riders. But even for experienced cyclers who have already owned a bike or two, it can be difficult to figure out what type of motorcycle to purchase.

But choosing a motorcycle model that you prefer is simple compared to perusing all of the motorcycles for sale and trying to find one that is right for you. There are so many places a person can look, it can be confusing trying to figure out what is the best way to buy a motorcycle.

So, here is a roundup of the three top ways you can find motorcycles for sale, along with the benefits of each. These should help you to decide which the best is for you.

1. Dealerships

Everyone knows you can find motorcycles for sale at dealerships, just as everyone is likely aware that this is generally the most expensive place to purchase any bikes. But, many people prefer to choose this option because motorcycles for sale at dealerships are safe bets. In other words, they are usually sold with some type of warranties or guarantees and may include some routine maintenance on the bikes.

Depending upon the dealership you go to, you may find both new and used motorcycles for sale. You might also be able to purchase a completely customized bike out of the dealer catalog and have it built to your specifications (for a handsome cost, of course). Dealerships offer the widest variety of motorcycles for sale.

2. Classified Advertisements/For Sale By Owner

You can often find the motorcycle you want in the weekly newspaper classified advertisements or posted in another local sales bulletin. These types of advertisements are all considered to be ‘for sale by owner.’ Other ‘for sale by owner’ motorcycles can be found as signs posted in people’s yards.

This is generally a very inexpensive way to purchase preowned motorcycles. Of course, with these types of motorcycles for sale there are no guarantees or warrantees. But if you are careful and have a mechanic inspect any bike before you make a purchase, this can be a good way to get the bike you want at a great price.

3. Online Advertisements

Motorcycles for sale online are generally the same that could be seen in any given classified ad section in any newspaper, but with a big difference: the online advertisements offer a much wider scope. Whereas your classified ad section in your newspaper consists only of motorcycles being sold locally; online advertisements has motorcycles for sale over a much larger region. Some websites cover the entire country; others are based in a specific state or part of the country.

Online advertisements are an inexpensive way to purchase motorcycles. Legitimate websites act as a go-between for sellers and purchasers, so sellers are held liable if they aren’t honest about their motorcycles for sale. This means you can purchase a motorcycle online without fear of being swindled.

Tips for Purchasing Used Motorcycle Luggage

Motorcycles No Comments

You just brought that brand new bike home and as you’re standing there admiring not only the appearance of it, but the sweet deal you got on it as well, you noticed that something was missing. You are planning on taking an extensive two-week road trip within the next month, but there isn’t enough storage on that bike to accommodate your needs, especially with clothing, food, and gear.

Now you’re confronted with a dilemma. You’ve already decided that you want the matching saddle bags and trunk that are available through the manufacturer (which you should have done when you ordered the bike). However, it’s too late to do that now since they won’t arrive in time for that road trip. So you’ve decided to purchase some used motorcycle luggage for the time being.

You wouldn’t normally worry about buying new equipment, but you are concerned about buying it used. Whether you have decided on hard or soft luggage, purchasing the equipment used is a great way to save a few bucks and still be able to take off on that long awaited trip that is right around the corner. So, just to throw you a little advice, here are 5 tips to help you make that purchase.

Tip #1 - Educate yourself on the different types of motorcycle luggage. First of all, motorcycle luggage is classified in two categories — hard and soft. Then there are the subcategories — saddlebags, tank bags, and trunks. These come in a variety of materials, but leather is always recommended most.

Tip #2 - Don’t over-purchase the luggage. A lot of new riders (and even some experienced ones) make the mistake of buying more motorcycle luggage than what is necessary. Even when you are purchasing used luggage, this still equates to wasting your money. Additionally, there is the issue of overwhelming the bike with more than what is necessary, and this could result in the bike becoming unstable.

Tip #3 - If you want to find used motorcycle luggage, the first place to shop is at a used motorcycle dealer. Makes sense to me. There are used motorcycle parts shops that you can visit as well. Despite these venues, probably the easiest way to shop for used luggage is online, but there are no guarantees that the items will fit properly.

Tip #4 - Ride your bike on that shopping excursion. Common sense would tell you that this is the best way to ensure that what you purchase fits properly and therefore eliminates any guesswork, which I feel is like making assumptions. And we all know the outcome when we assume things, don’t we?

Tip #5 - Once you have found the motorcycle luggage you want, give it a thorough inspection. Four things to make sure of:

- all the locks lock properly and all the zippers zip easily (and stay zipped)

- if there is a lock (or locks), make sure you get the right key (or keys)

- there are no rips, tears, or unstitched seams in the material

- there are no problems with any of the brackets or clips closing when it comes to mounting, and securing the luggage

Top Accessories for Riders of BMW Motorcycles

Motorcycles No Comments

BMW motorcycle owners are very particular about their bikes, like other motorcycle owners. But in some cases, the riders of BMW motorcycles take their fastidiousness to a larger degree, often pampering their bikes with the best materials and accessories that can be found anywhere.

This meticulousness in their care for their motorcycles has led some companies and individuals to develop accessories that are only for BMW motorcycles. Here are some of the top items that owners of these bikes can get to enhance their rides.

First of all, and maybe most exciting, are custom windshields. The owners of BMW motorcycles are lucky in that they can get custom windshields made by someone who used to make aircraft windshields. Because of this, these windshields are particularly well-designed. Called Cee Bailey windshields, these can be ordered in custom lengths and in a variety of tints. All are free of distortions that are common in all other windshields, and all are thicker than traditional windshields. Cee Bailey windshields can be made for all types of BMW motorcycles. To find them, do an online search for “Cee Bailey BMW motorcycles windshields”.

Another accessory that many owners of BMW motorcycles choose to purchase is Russell Day-Long Touring Saddles. Granted, these custom-made seats are not only made for BMW motorcycles; however, a large percentage of riders who purchase the Day-Long Touring Saddles are BMW owners.

The Russell Day-Long Touring Saddles can be customized in many ways. The manufacturers take the rider’s (or riders’) height and weight and looks at pictures of the customer(s) sitting in their previous motorcycle seats. The saddles are then designed to the customer specifications as to color, fabric, style, and other considerations. Customers may also choose to add lumbar support or to make theirs a heated saddle seat. Seats can also be embroidered with a customer name or initials.

Then, of course, most riders of BMW motorcycles want a GPS (global positioning system) unit. But BMW riders don’t just want to head to the nearest electronics store to purchase one. No, they want the special GPS unit that was developed by BMW. This is called the BMW Motorrad Navigator GPS.

This unit comes in a few different model types, but all include street maps for every state in the United States, an anti-glare high definition surface so that they can be read even in direct sunlight, and text-to-speech software that enables the rider to listen to directions rather than having to take his eyes off of the road to read them.

Most BMW owners also want to get customized helmets and other riding gear. Customization is really the name of the game when it comes to BMW motorcycles. Helmets can be sized to fit larger heads, which can be quite helpful for many people. Other riders prefer to have unique riding jackets or handlebar grips. Some riders of BMW motorcycles even like to customize their motorcycle parts; items such as tires, chain guards, spark plugs, gauges, and more. Having items made to order is something many BMW owners greatly enjoy.

What to Look for in Motorcycle Reviews

Motorcycles No Comments

When it comes to motorcycle reviews, it’s fairly easy to find them online as they are as numerous as the number of people doing the reviewing. The problem with online (and offline) reviews is that none of them really follow a basic format based on critical issues of purchasing a motorcycle. The other problem that seems to be a common omission with these critiques is that none of them talk about who the particular type of bike is suited for. Everybody’s needs and wants are different, especially when it comes to performance, comfort, power needed, primary use of the bike, and so on.

What you always will find is content about size of the engine, type of engine, horsepower, fuel efficiency, etc. The reviews always have neglected saying what type of user the bike is designed for — and I’m not referring to gender. I’m referring to age group of the individual and what they really need to be looking for. Here’s a list of what should be in motorcycle reviews and rarely is:

- What type of body style is the bike designed to fit?

- A listing of all the options that come standard or are available to add for a price

- How does the particular type of motorcycle relate to the driver’s abilities

- Cost and frequency of repairs (believe it or not, this isn’t always in a review)

- Difficulty factors involved in finding replacement parts

One thing that is always a critical issue is if the bike overwhelms the rider or if the rider is too tall for the bike. It’s a comfort factor first and foremost, but equally as important is the safety issue. If the bike overwhelms the rider, the consequences could be very hazardous to the rider’s health and well-being. An overwhelming bike cannot be handled properly nor controlled properly

Every bike on the market usually has a list of options available, but that list may or may not tell the buyer what is included as standard and what adds to the cost. This is often covered on the price tag, but sometimes there are other options that can be included as standard in place of those that are listed.

Is the rider experienced enough to handle the bike they are thinking about buying, or is the bike going to eventually become boring to the rider?

You got a great deal when you purchased the bike, but what are normal maintenance and repairs going to cost you? Furthermore, what is the frequency of those repairs — infrequent occurrences versus repairs being needed too frequently.

Finally, how difficult is it going to be for you to find replacement parts when you need to perform normal maintenance or make necessary repairs? If that bike is your only means of transportation, and you have to wait two or three weeks for parts in order to do the repairs, you’re in a world of hurt. So you want to make sure that there is never problem being able to repair your bike so you don’t miss any time on the road or at work or both.

Reasons to Consider a Victory Motorcycle For Your Next Purchase

Motorcycles No Comments

With the current market trend depicting a retraction in sales in the motorcycle industry, Harley-Davidson has planned a reduction in shipments for the third quarter of 2008. But when confronted with the question of “Will you be doing the same?” Mark Blackwell, VP of Victory Motorcycles and International Operations stated that they have a 10-15% growth goal for the year.

Therefore, in answer to the question above, it can be safely assumed that Victory Motorcycles has no intention of mimicking Harley-Davidson’s idea. Blackwell also stated that in addition to not backing off in their shipments of product, they will also build up their dealer network, rather than expand with a training focus of the existing staff.

Victory’s edge against a retracting market includes the latest addition to their “touring” products — the Victory Vision. This stylishly unique introduction into the touring category of inventory gives the advantage to Victory in the custom cruiser market. And Blackwell has adamantly stated that he feels Victory no has an excellent chance of nearly doubling their sales opportunities with the addition of this beauty to the already high quality line of bikes that exists. The vision is manufactured with a 106 cubic inch 50-degree V-Twin engine and comes well-equipped to attract considerable interest of Victory showroom visitors.

Besides tweaking the numbers a bit, Victory Motorcycles focused on some design revisions especially with their signature bike — the Freedom V100/6. The bike is built with an air/oil-cooled, single overhead cam (SOHC), 50-degree V-Twin motor. The lowering of the compression ratio from 9.8:1 down to 8.7:1 has created a reduction in “spark knock” and boosted horsepower and torque as a result. The new, closed-loop injection system with its fully-sequential operation feeds the larger 45mm throttle body.

The changes made to the oil-cooling operations round out the rest of the upgrades to the Freedom V100/6. Where oil-cooling is concerned, the oil flow path was altered in order to cool the exhaust valve bridge therefore preventing a reduction in the size of the 31mm exhaust valve. As a consequence, there will be no loss of power, and this also enabled the utilization of a smaller oil cooler as well.

Noise pollution and the reduction of it were also key focal points for Victory Motorcycle this past year in that they employed the use of a taller sixth gear in order to reduce the noise that results from the transmission meshing. It also reduced the bike’s cruising RPMs, but only by 3%. Other areas that noise reduction was the targeted goal included a “re-tuned” compensator and split-gear clutch, the addition of more sound-deadening ribbing inside the cover, a quieter alternator, and longer closing ramps combined with slower valve-closing speeds.

This last factor was responsible for eliminating most of the top-end tick that frequently occurred with these particular bikes. Finally, the handlebar grips were redesigned, but in addition to this, heated grips were added as an option in their parts and accessories line.

Motorcycle and Relay: What Does It Do For the Motorcycle?

Motorcycles No Comments

It is not uncommon for motorcycle owners to notice the weak electrical systems in their motorcycles. How do you fix that? Your motorcycle and relay can take the pressure off the electrical system by diverting the lights, or whatever you may hook your motorcycle and relay to, so that the electrical stress is taken of the original electrical system.

Motorcycle and relay is used for headlights and has even been reported to brighten the lights after installation. Keep in mind that motorcycle and relay is not for replacing bad wiring, just for taking the stress off the existing electrical system.

A motorcycle horn is usually weak, and unimpressive. Motorcycle and relay for horns can significantly increase the output of a horn. There are some motorcycle and relay kits for horns that make the motorcycle horn sound like a fog horn. When a car cuts you off on the freeway, a little honk, honk isn’t going to phase him, but a Boom Boom will make him take a second look.

Flashers on a motorcycle can drain on a motorcycle’s electrical system too. To take the pressure off the electrical system, you can use motorcycle and relay for the flashers to make the flash standard DOT or adjustable flashing where you choose how slow or fast you want your flasher to blink. There is also a customizable flasher system that lets you choose the pattern of the blink.

Brake lights can also be put on to motorcycle and relay units. There are motorcycle brake lights that allow you to tap the brake once and the brake bar will flash to alert those behind you that they are following too closely.

Heated jacket and gloves can be put on a motorcycle and relay so that the extra electrical pull won’t affect the motorcycle’s electrical system. Heated accessories can be great for you during the cold weather, but not so great for your motorcycle. Do your motorcycle a favor and help it out by adding motorcycle and relay units to help during the cold weather.

Do you have more electrical accessories then you have sockets to plug them into? There is a motorcycle and relay unit that lets you add extra sockets to your motorcycle. Whether it is that CB radio, or GPS system, having extra sockets can certainly add to the usefulness of your motorcycle.

Worry about your motorcycle getting stolen? Use a motorcycle and relay to install a security system. The electrical system that was original straight from the factory may not be able to handle the demands of a security system. While security systems may be a deterrent, it won’t stop them permanently, but if your electrical system can’t handle the output needed for the security system, it definitely can’t protect your motorcycle. Tracking systems can be hooked up to motorcycle and relay kits as well. If your motorcycle does get stolen, it can be tracked and found, hopefully before it is torn apart.

The Top 6 Reasons to Get New Motorcycle Tires

Motorcycles No Comments

Motorcycle tires are very important on your motorcycle. They are one of the few things that comes between you and the road in the event of an emergency stop. They also keep you from hydroplaning in wet conditions, and can keep you comfortable on that long trip. So how do you know if you need new tires?

1. Hole or Leak

This probably seems like a very obvious choice, but sometimes you have to state the obvious. It is possible to just plug a hole, but this should be done from the inside out, not the outside in. When you plug a tire from the outside in, motorcycle tires have a tendency to lose the plug. While this doesn’t always happen, it is safer to plug from the inside out.

2. Worn sidewall

This also seems like an obvious one, but to someone who is new to the motorcycle game, motorcycle tires can be confusing. They are not the same as the motorcycle tires on a car. The sidewall can get worn for several reason. One of the top reasons for a worn sidewall is that the driver is leaning awkwardly. If you are not leaning and you still notice unusual wear in your sidewall, it might be in your best interest to verify this with a mechanic.

3.Wearing tread

How can you tell if there is little tread grooves on the tires? If you can stick a penny in with Lincoln’s head down and the top of the head can still be seen after sticking it in the groove, then you probably need new tires. Tread is what makes it possible to stop in wet weather, the grooves move water away from the center of the motorcycle tires so that the motorcycle tires can get a better grip on the road.

4. Age of tires

Motorcycle tires can degrade and erode with age. Just because you have a motorcycle sitting in a storage room for ten years, does not bean that the motorcycle tires are still in good condition. If the rubber is soft, chances are the material used to make the motorcycle tires has become worn after ten years.

5. Mileage

The harder the rubber on the tire the longer the motorcycle tires will last. In contrast, the softer the rubber is on the tire, the better the traction on the road. If you want more mileage, get harder tires, if you want better traction, get softer tires. Both types of motorcycle tires has its advantages. Traction means quicker stops and better turns. More mileage means less money paid out for new tires.

6. PSI on tires

To increase the life of the motorcycle tires, remember to check your tires on a regular basis. If you consistently keep your PSI lower then directed by the manufacturer, chances are you will wear out your tire, your tread, or your sidewalls. The longer you can keep the tread and sidewalls in good condition the longer your tires will last.

3 Reasons to Wear Motorcycle Gloves

Motorcycles No Comments

Motorcycle gloves, gear and apparel seem like just accessories, not much of a necessity, especially something as minute as motorcycle gloves. Truth be told, motorcycle gloves can be very useful, here’s why.

Reason #1 — No Motorcycle Gloves Equals Wet Palms

Motorcycle gloves seem like a useless accessory, maybe just to look cool, but motorcycle gloves really do serve a purpose. Motorcycle gloves prevent your palms from sweating all over the grips of your handlebars. While they may not prevent them from sweating inside the motorcycle gloves, at least they give you a better grip.

Consider this, you are driving down the highway at 60 or 70 miles per hour and your palms are sweaty and you are not wearing motorcycle gloves, you decide to change lanes. You tighten the hold on the grips and move to adjust your handlebars in the direction of the move. Suddenly, you find your hands slipping off the grips causing you to go careening either into the median and heading into oncoming traffic, or into a ditch. Either way, the simple decision not to wear motorcycle gloves that day, could cost you your life along with the possibility of taking others with you.

Reason #2 — No Motorcycle Gloves means Hand Injuries

From the time a person is very small, the first instinct when falling is to put the hands out in front to brace the fall. It doesn’t change as we get older. When you watch someone falling, even if they are falling backward their hands flail in front of them. When you ride a motorcycle, this doesn’t change. When you see a fall coming, your hands go out in front of you, trying to brace yourself for the fall. Without motorcycle gloves, your hands could get broken, bruised bloodied and even severed from the wrists, depending on how bad the accident it.

For your hands, protect them with motorcycle gloves. Without motorcycle gloves, you could bruise your hands badly or worse making it difficult to ride again. motorcycle gloves seems like a simple solution right from the start.

Reason #3 — No Motorcycle Gloves means Numb Fingers

Anyone who has had cold fingers and tries typing on a computer or doing something with the hands that needs great dexterity knows how hard it is to type or grip something when the hands are cold. This same concept applies to motorcycles. Motorcycle gloves can keep the hands and fingers warm. This seems so obvious, but many people don’t understand the importance of warm hands when your at the controls of such a heavy piece of machinery.

Loss of control of a heavy piece of equipment can mean loss of life. Motorcycle gloves can mean the difference between thinking you hit the cruise control and then quickly slowing in front of a car coming at 70 miles per hour. It can mean not putting on the brakes fast enough because without the motorcycle gloves you can’t feel the amount of pressure on the hand controls. Cold hands mean numb fingers, and numb fingers means an accident waiting to happen. Motorcycle gloves aren’t just to look cool.

Motorcycle Windshields: Advantages and Disadvantages

Motorcycles No Comments

Motorcycle windshields are common on touring motorcycles. They can be added to just about any other type of motorcycle. Just like everything else, though, motorcycle windshields have advantages and disadvantages.

One advantage to having motorcycle windshields is that it blocks the wind and makes for a better and more comfortable ride. Having windshields there to block bugs flying at the face and rocks being thrown from the vehicles in front is definitely an advantage. No one wants to drive down the highway and suddenly taste a bug or see one spat on your cheek just below your eye. Windshields definitely offer the advantage of better obstacle blockage.

A disadvantage would be visibility. While it is great to have something to block things flying at your face, it isn’t so great when all that builds up on motorcycle windshields and blocks visibility. You can’t drive safely if you can’t see where you are going.

Another advantage is the aerodynamics of motorcycle windshields. They allow the air to flow evenly up and over the motorcycle. Having better aerodynamics with windshields can improve gas mileage and with the gas prices sky rocketing, any amount saved in gas is always an advantage.

A disadvantage would be the glare given off by motorcycle windshields. Not all windshields give off a glare, but when they do, they can be blinding. It is hard to drive when you are being blinded by the glare, likewise, it is hard for other drivers to drive with a glare.

Another disadvantage is the weather. In some weather, it is better to see without motorcycle windshields then it is to see with them. They can make it hard to see in foggy or wet weather. Just like with glasses, windshields can fog up, attract moisture and have ice. Any of these conditions can make it difficult for visibility.

If you get the wrong size it could definitely affect visibility. Trying to look over the windshield or under the top of the windshield can be annoying and dangerous. If you don’t look entirely through or entirely above your motorcycle windshields, you could have problems with blind spots due to the line in your line of vision.

One consideration that would give the best of both worlds would be removable motorcycle windshields. This would allow you to place it on the motorcycle when going on long trips, and remove it on bad weather days, or when visibility is poor to begin with. It can add to the aerodynamics when you ride in conditions that would affect the mileage and speed, such as uphill and curving roads. Also you may consider having the windshield tinted to reduce glare and increase visibility. Be careful how tinted you have the windshield though, because in dark conditions, it may make it hard to see if they are too dark. Glasses have anti fog coating and you can get the same coating for your motorcycle windshields.

Motorcycle Lifts: Air or Hydraulic

Motorcycles No Comments

Motorcycle Lifts can be a life saver in the event of a move. If you have to put your motorcycle on a transport trailer, or on the back of a truck, it is much easier to use a lift then it is to find a ramp and try to manually drive it up the ramp, or push it up the ramp. So what type of motorcycle lifts are better?

1. Ease of use

When choosing motorcycle lifts, one of the first things to think of is how easy it is to use. No one wants something that is going to more trouble then it is worth. Air motorcycle lifts use air pressure to lift it off the ground. Some lifts make it easier on the consumer by making foot pedals, but either way, the user is using muscle and manual power. Hydraulic lifts are much more convenient. They run on their own power and use little to no manual power to work. Hydraulic motorcycle lifts are much less physically demanding on the user. If ease of use is more important to you then hydraulic lifts may be what you are looking for.

2. Cost of device

The more convenient motorcycle lifts are, the more they cost. Air lifts are much more cost effective then hydraulic motorcycle lifts. While you pay more for ease of use, you also pay for convenience. Both air and hydraulic lifts are convenient for a motorcycle enthusiast. If you are repairing your motorcycle and have it taken apart where it cannot move on its own power, then motorcycle lifts allow you to move it around the shop with as much ease as if you were pushing a shopping cart. Either way, the convenience far outweighs the cost for someone who is constantly moving a motorcycle.

3. Construction

The better constructed motorcycle lifts are, the more it will cost. The lifts with the best reputations are constructed much better than the lifts from other manufacturers. While the lighter lifts and the motorcycle lifts that are more compact may be better on space, and more convenient for storage, the heavier more sturdy models do cost more. Heavier, more structurally sound lifts can cost more, but be safer then the lighter lifts.

4. Aesthetics

Everyone knows the prettier something is, the more it will cost. Whether it is air lifts or hydraulic ifts, the better it looks, the more colorful, the more pleasing to the eye it is the more it will cost. While pretty motorcycle lifts do not mean they work better, many people want the prettier design to liven up a shop or work space. Motorcycle lifts that look better naturally sell better. What are you willing to pay for? Do you want to pay for the pretty colored paint? Do you want to pay for the shinier chrome lifts? Are aesthetics an important part of your buying decision? What feature on motorcycle lifts makes it a more desirable purchase?

4 Things That Turn Girls with Motorcycles into Motorcycle Babes

Motorcycles No Comments

It takes more then just a fancy motorcycle to be motorcycle babes. Just having a motorcycle does not turn girls with motorcycles into motorcycle babes. So what does?

1. Love of Motorcycles

Motorcycle babes do not have motorcycles just to be noticed. They are not doing for the attention they get from it nor are they doing it because it is the “cool” thing to do. If you are a woman with a motorcycle and you are just doing it because it looks good and because you get noticed, you have not reached the status of motorcycle babes. True motorcycle babes would ride a motorcycle even if there was no one around to notice them. motorcycle babes are the ones that know the difference between a liquid cooled engine and an air cooled engine. Motorcycle babes could change a tire, customize their handlebars, and add a backrest without blinking an eye.

2. Confidence

Motorcycle babes exude confidence. They do not need someone standing there staring and gawking at them to feel beautiful and alive and full of energy and enthusiasm. Unlike so many photos and stereo types, motorcycle babes can be more then just the supermodel standing in front of the Kawasaki in daisy dukes and a tight tank top bending over pretending to inspect the tire. They can also be more then the other image of the butch woman who is more manly then the bikers she rides with. Motorcycle babes can be short, tall, thin, full figured, young or old. Motorcycle babes is the whole package, not just what you see. Motorcycle babes feel comfortable in both jeans and dresses. They can go out with their hair in a ponytail with no make up and not care who sees them.

3. Self Worth

Motorcycle babes know that they are worth more then a compromising position in front or on that Honda motorcycle. Real motorcycle babes have children and jobs that don’t involve skimpy clothes. That is not to say that those models who pose half naked in front of the motorcycles can’t be real motorcycle babes, if they know there is more to who they are then guys gawking at them drooling half at them and half at the motorcycles that accompany them. Motorcycle babes know that even without the motorcycle they are someone. Motorcycle babes know that even though they don’t need the bike to be noticed, they deserve the bike.

4. Thrill seekers

Real motorcycle babes are thrill seekers. They love the feel of the motorcycle under them riding down the highway. They aren’t afraid of spreading their wings. When motorcycle babes are going down the highway they can feel the wind flapping all around them, they feel like they are flying. There is nothing better then knowing that you have complete control over this machine that has more power then any one person should possess. The vibrations from the motor and the curves in the road go through your entire body. Motorcycle babes feel alive.

How to Find and Use a Motorcycle Trader

Motorcycles No Comments

Maybe you have a motorcycle, but you would like to sell it in order to be able to purchase a different motorcycle that would be better suited to your current needs. Perhaps you are just looking to just buy a used motorcycle to either use as a first bike or to add to your collection. Whatever your reason, you are looking to either sell and/or purchase a motorcycle.

And, maybe you are extremely busy and don’t have time to worry about dealing with classified ads. You can’t be bothered with searching through them or with placing an ad and dealing with any resulting phone calls. But, you don’t want to go to a dealership, either, and have to pay exorbitant prices for your bike. Luckily, though, there is a solution: you can turn to an online motorcycle trader.

Even if you have never purchased anything online before, you can work through an online motorcycle trader to get the bike that you want. Here’s how to find a motorcycle trader and go through the process of finding and/or selling a motorcycle.

First of all, you need to find a reputable online motorcycle trader. Do a web search for “motorcycle trader” and look at the results that come up. Check out several of the largest motorcycle trader websites as well as any that may be near to your location. Look to make certain that they have legitimate credentials, an address (not a P.O. Box) and phone number through which they can be contacted, and user testimonials about the service. Read through the sites and then go with your gut; choose the one that seems the best to you.

On the site, there should be a clearly defined procedure for listing your bike for sale (if that is what you would like to do, of course). Make sure you follow the guideline exactly; any deviations from their rules could cause a problem for you. Do not misrepresent anything about your motorcycle. Motorcycle trader websites are successful because they offer honesty in their transactions; you need to be completely honest about your bike.

When going to the motorcycle trader website section where you list the bike that you are looking for, you should be able to both list specific models and types of motorcycles and list generalities. The generalities section is there in case you do not have a specific model in mind. Perhaps you know that you want a 250cc motorcycle that is American-made, for example. The motorcycle trader can take this information and find bikes that match with this information and suggest them to you as options.

Most motorcycle traders charge for their services; using those websites is not a free service. But, given that it can save you a great deal of time in searching for a buyer for your bike, it can definitely be worth the cost. Also, because motorcycle websites have people from all over the country posting bikes for sale, you have a much greater chance of finding the bike you really want than you would if you were to restrict yourself to searching in the classifieds.

3 Top Speed Honda Motorcycles

Motorcycles No Comments

Honda motorcycles have always been known for their speed. Of the top five touring motorcycles with the top speed, Honda motorcycles make up three of them. Just because they have the top speed in the touring category, doesn’t mean they are the fastest. These are only the ones with the top speed on the speedometer, not necessarily the fastest time for getting up to top speed.

1. VF 1000 F 2 1987

These Honda motorcycles were touring bikes and had top speeds of 144.2 miles per hour. With V4 engines and 100 horsepower at 9500 rotations per minute, it’s easy to see why these Honda motorcycles have the top speed. They have a liquid cooling system and a chain type final drive transmission. They weigh 610 pounds with all fluids included. These Honda motorcycles had dual disc front brakes and single disc rear brakes. A fuel capacity of 6.08 gallons make this a good motorcycle to take a long ride on. Even with all that speed behind it, on the consumer rating, these Honda motorcycles only scored 64.5 out of 100.

2. VF 1000 F 2 1986

These Honda motorcycles faired slightly better in the consumer ratings with a score of 70.5 out of 100. The specifications are much the same as the 1987 model. These Honda motorcycles had a Double Overhead Cam fuel control the same as the 1987 model . As far as the specifications are concerned, the 1987 and the 1986 Honda motorcycles are exactly the same. Where the main difference seems to be is in the design. In the design and look, the 1986 model scored more then 15 points higher then the 1987 model and more then 6 points better then the 1987 model in racing track abilities. In repair and maintenance costs, the 1986 model scored 18 points better. The only thing the 1987 model did better in was its touring capabilities in which the 1987 model scored 2.3 points better then the 1986 model.

3. ST 1100 Pan-European STD and CBS-ABS with TCS 2000

These Honda motorcycles had a top speed of 142.3 miles per hour. They scored better then the VF 1000 F 2 models making 79.9 out of 100. These Honda motorcycles also had V4 engines. They had 100 horsepower at 7500 rotations per minute. This model had an electric starter, liquid cooling system, and a 5-speed gearbox. Its dry weight is 632.7 pounds, and a seat height of 31.5 inches. The front brakes are dual disc while the rear brakes are single disc. The colors include red or blue. This was truly a touring motorcycle. Its fuel tank had a capacity for 7.4 gallons. For reliability and problem free driving, these Honda motorcycles scored 93. Its off road capabilities was only a 39.2, however, this was the only thing that these Honda motorcycles scored less then average when compared to other touring motorcycles. These Honda motorcycles made a 96.1 in their touring capabilities, the average touring capabilities for other touring bikes was 78.6.

Can You Insure The Vacuum And The Hairdryer

Cars and Trucks No Comments

We’ve all heard of the Dyson vacuum cleaner: super power, super suction, reaches all corners and bagless. Not so long ago these were the vacuums of note, the ones to be had above all else and the only one to keep up with the Joneses.

However, James Dyson has moved away from the idea of house cleaning and into the realms of cars. Not much difference there then! He currently has engineers at this Wiltshire headquarters developing a lightweight electric motor fit for a car.

Of course, electric cars are all the rage these days in our bid to beat the soaring fuel prices and to cut down on our car insurance costs. We are told they are also better for the environment so for those who subscribe to the sort of scaremongering that would see us all up to our necks in melted ice caps over the next few years, then an electric car will make you feel like you’re doing you part to reduce this possibility.

So we will soon be able to pick up a Dyson at the local car dealers that gets into all corners, is turbo charged and doesn’t require a bag. You might even be able to reach 30 mph on it! Is it just me or are you also imagining people standing on little yellow and grey contraptions and zooming up the high street?

Currently, the best selling electric car is the G-Wiz and is Dyson’s fiercest competition. It costs about a penny a mile to run but the battery takes up to eight hours to charge from the mains and will only last forty miles. So, as long as you don’t travel more than twenty miles from home, you should, in theory, still be able to get home. So, you won’t go very far but at least it will only cost you 40 pence for the round trip, cheaper than a bus fare, cheaper on car insurance and tax exempt so you win all round.

Dyson proposes to base his motors on those used in his vacuum cleaners and hair dryers. My son once had a little moped. That sounded like a hair dryer - I wonder if it had the same sort of engine? And does this open up the way for more powerful hairdryers? Could we have a much sought after yellow and grey hairdryer capable of drying hair at supersonic speeds?

At least we have Honda to thank for rescuing the outside of the proposed car. They intend to use the Dyson motor in a car rather than try to design and make one from scratch. The difference with this vehicle is that it will be fitted with a solar panel on the roof to charge enough power to last more than forty miles.
Oh please! A hairdryer on wheels with a solar panel? Do they intend to market these as reputable cars or give them away as booby prizes? Cheap car insurance is all very nice but you surely wouldn’t need the theft option - who in their right mind would steal one?

Exactly how do they expect a solar panelled car to work in Britain? Famous for our lousy weather are we going to see the streets littered with run down cars every time a cloud passes over? If that is the case, it could take a while to get home from work every day.

Car expert Catherine Harvey looks at how a car with an electric engine can bring down car insurance costs and be cheaper to run.

Tips For Improving the Gas Mileage of a Used Car

Cars and Trucks No Comments

With sky rocketing gas prices, many people are turning to new vehicles rather than purchasing gas guzzling used cars. Virginia Beach gas stations are charging a dollar more per gallon than they did a year ago and this means wasting fuel is going to eat at your wallet regardless of how new or old your vehicle is. There are many things you can do that will not only save you gas money, but also help your new or used vehicle last longer too.

Driving in Hot Weather

In the summertime, air conditioning is one of the biggest causes of poor gas mileage. If you absolutely have to use the air conditioning, run it on a low setting until the car reaches a comfortable temperature. Then, turn it off and run the fan by itself to maintain the temperature of the vehicle.

Driving with your window down at low speeds is fine, but at highway speeds, this can be worse for your gas mileage than anything else can be. When you run your vehicle with the window down, the air current enters into the vehicle and holds it back causing your car to work harder to propel itself forward.

Car Maintenance

For both new and used cars, Virginia Beach drivers and others around the country need to schedule maintenance on a regular basis. Things such as dirty air filters, spark plugs, and dirty oil can wreak havoc on the best running vehicles. When you schedule your vehicle for its oil change, make sure to have a quick check done on the rest of these small components. They are quick, easy, and cheap to change and the payoff is significant.

When was the last time you checked your tires? Tires that are extremely worn down slip on the road’s surface and are forced to rotate more than they should. Check your tire pressure at least three times each week to ensure they are correctly inflated, but keep in mind, that overinflated tires are just as bad as underinflated ones.

Driving Habits

Perhaps most influential on the gas mileage of a vehicle, is your own personal driving habits. For example, in Virginia Beach, used cars and new ones alike spend hours in any given month lined up at red lights.

To cut this down, try to avoid rush hours and alter your route as much as you can to cut out red lights without adding on too much added distance. Stopping and starting is also hard on gas. It also helps to keep your overall speed down to the speed limit or slightly less while accelerating and decelerating as gradually.

All vehicles will have a top limit on their gas mileage, but practicing these few simple tips will help you to save as much gas as possible. Best of all, these are all simple things that don’t require a large investment of time or money. Soon, you will notice that you are not only saving money on fuel, but you will also find that you will save money because your vehicles will last longer.

Should I Buy an Auto Club Membership?

Cars and Trucks No Comments

Auto clubs, like AAA, have been around for many years, almost since the invention of the automobile itself. They offer their members things like roadside assistance, travel discounts, and free maps. They do come at a cost, however, and many motorists wonder whether or not they should spend the money on an auto club membership. Before you sign up for an auto club, make sure you weigh the pros and cons and determine if it is a good option for you.

The Main Con - Cost

The main disadvantage of an auto club membership is the cost of enrollment. This can vary quite a bit from place to place. A typical AAA membership can cost between $60 and $100, depending on what benefits are purchased and how many people are on the plan. This is not a lot of money, but it is an amount that must be considered when deciding whether or not a membership is worth the cost.

Roadside Assistance Benefit

The main benefit of an auto club membership is roadside assistance. Most of these programs offer you a free or discounted towing service if you should be stranded at some point with a non-working vehicle. Having your vehicle towed costs a minimum of $75 in most places, so just using the tow benefit one time could pay for the cost of the membership itself.

Of course, most people do not need to have their vehicles towed on a regular basis. Newer vehicles are not prone to mechanical problems, which means that this benefit may never be used. Those who travel short distances also have less of a chance of being in a situation where they need a costly tow. On the other hand, those who travel long distances on a regular basis may find this benefit provides them with the peace of mind they need to feel comfortable on the road.

Some insurance plans offer free or discounted towing services. If you are considering purchasing an automotive club membership for the purpose of having this roadside assistance, make sure that you are not covered twice. While there are other benefits of auto club memberships, you may not need the roadside assistance program.

Travel Discount Benefit

Another perk to owning a major auto club membership, such as AAA, is the fact that you will be able to save money when you travel. You can book cruises, tours, and vacation packages through the auto club at deep discounts. Of course, the Internet sometimes makes it possible for you to get similar discounts other places, but this is a benefit that you would need to consider if you love to travel frequently.

Even if you are not someone who likes to take cruises, you can still save money with an auto club membership on your travel. Many programs have discounts available at hotels and amusement parks. Saving 10 to 15 percent on your hotel stay can really add up! Similar discounts are available on airfare, train tickets, and car rentals.

Other Discounts Are Available

Besides travel discounts and roadside assistance programs, other discounts are available to auto club members. Some stores and restaurants offer a percentage off program to auto club members. You can also purchase insurance through the club at a discounted rate. Repairs on your vehicle can be discounted through your membership if you use a participating mechanic.

The best way to determine if you could benefit from an auto club membership is to weigh these benefits against the cost of membership. If you feel that you would take advantage of these benefits on a regular basis, then the cost is worth it for you. If you would only use the benefits from time to time, you would probably end up paying more for the membership than it is really worth. Do your homework, learn the benefits of the club you are considering, and weigh them against the cost to decide if you should buy a membership or not.

What Can Make Your Car Look Extremely Cool

Cars and Trucks No Comments

When it comes to your car, there are a lot of people that want to invest in making their cool look better, go faster, and do more things. Unforunately, these things often come at a hefty price. Along with that, they need to be installed, and that is more expensive than the product itself half the time.

There is one way that you can definitely add the “cool” factor to your car, through a body kit. The great thing about a body kit is the ability to customize. There are so many different variations of body kits that it would be practically impossible to find every one of them.

Body kits are somewhat like spoilers, ground effects, rims, and other accessories you can add to your car that make it look better. Overall, body kits are the most bang for your buck. Aftermarket companies have done a great job creating the best looking body kits for the camry.

The reason that body kits are such a good investment is only when you buy them online. You can get them very affordable, and have a lot more options then local shops. You can have custom-made body kits where you pretty much tell them what you want the body kit to emphasize and then they will do it, but that comes at a bigger price tag.

Other than that, there are pre-designed and pre-built body kits that the company has put together which they feel looks best for what they are trying to achieve. These are always a good bet to make especially if you have seen their work on several cars, and the price you are going to be will be extremely cheaper.

A great money saving tip is that if you plan on buying a new car, and you want to get the top of the line manufactured version, don’t. They overcharge you way too much for what it really costs to have the parts and accessories made.

Take the time and buy the stock, and get your own body kit, get your own accessories, and get your own engine modifications. Not only will it cost you less, it will be more customized to your likings, so you will enjoy it more. Also, you will get a better deal on what your doing as well, whether it be better performance, better look, or better accessories, you will often find that to be true.

Many body kits can be assembled by yourself, but sometimes they ask for alterations to certain parts, and if you are not experienced with what you are doing, you definitely don’t want to ruin your brand new body kit, or even worse your car. Take the time and money and go to a shop that can help you get it installed right, even if you have to pay a few extra dollars.

On top of that, most body kits come unpainted, thus you would need to get it painted. Some people know how to paint a body kit well, but if you have a brand new beamer, your not going to want to do it yourself. Because, those glossy paint jobs aren’t easy to replicate on your own, getting it done by a professional is the best bet to keep your car looking smooth.

What you have to watch out for is their return policy, make sure to test every piece, without drilling or altering the original body kit at all, you want to make sure all of the pieces will fit into place before you do anything. A lot of body kit sellers will not allow you to return ot exchange your product, thus you want to make sure that you got the right thing.

There are many different styles you will find from wide, to normal, customized or not, and some with more material than others. It’s all about preference when it comes to a body kit, you have to look around and see what you like the best, and then go from there.

If you have the knowledge, tools, and the ability to install the body kit on your own, go ahead and go for it. Even though it may say it is recommended to have it installed by a professional, that is so that people who don’t have any experience with cars, specifically body kits, won’t try to put it together and mess something up to the point where they can’t assemble it anymore.

Make sure, if you’ve been thinking about getting a body kit, compare prices between different websites, and make sure to look at all of the body kits you can find for your car’s make and model before you purchase one, because often times you’ll find one you like more later on.
