Top 3 Ways to Find Motorcycles For Sale

Motorcycles No Comments

Buying a motorcycle can be quite exciting, and yet, quite frustrating as well. Deciding upon what type of bike you want is often time-consuming in itself, especially for first-time riders. But even for experienced cyclers who have already owned a bike or two, it can be difficult to figure out what type of motorcycle to purchase.

But choosing a motorcycle model that you prefer is simple compared to perusing all of the motorcycles for sale and trying to find one that is right for you. There are so many places a person can look, it can be confusing trying to figure out what is the best way to buy a motorcycle.

So, here is a roundup of the three top ways you can find motorcycles for sale, along with the benefits of each. These should help you to decide which the best is for you.

1. Dealerships

Everyone knows you can find motorcycles for sale at dealerships, just as everyone is likely aware that this is generally the most expensive place to purchase any bikes. But, many people prefer to choose this option because motorcycles for sale at dealerships are safe bets. In other words, they are usually sold with some type of warranties or guarantees and may include some routine maintenance on the bikes.

Depending upon the dealership you go to, you may find both new and used motorcycles for sale. You might also be able to purchase a completely customized bike out of the dealer catalog and have it built to your specifications (for a handsome cost, of course). Dealerships offer the widest variety of motorcycles for sale.

2. Classified Advertisements/For Sale By Owner

You can often find the motorcycle you want in the weekly newspaper classified advertisements or posted in another local sales bulletin. These types of advertisements are all considered to be ‘for sale by owner.’ Other ‘for sale by owner’ motorcycles can be found as signs posted in people’s yards.

This is generally a very inexpensive way to purchase preowned motorcycles. Of course, with these types of motorcycles for sale there are no guarantees or warrantees. But if you are careful and have a mechanic inspect any bike before you make a purchase, this can be a good way to get the bike you want at a great price.

3. Online Advertisements

Motorcycles for sale online are generally the same that could be seen in any given classified ad section in any newspaper, but with a big difference: the online advertisements offer a much wider scope. Whereas your classified ad section in your newspaper consists only of motorcycles being sold locally; online advertisements has motorcycles for sale over a much larger region. Some websites cover the entire country; others are based in a specific state or part of the country.

Online advertisements are an inexpensive way to purchase motorcycles. Legitimate websites act as a go-between for sellers and purchasers, so sellers are held liable if they aren’t honest about their motorcycles for sale. This means you can purchase a motorcycle online without fear of being swindled.

Tips for Purchasing Used Motorcycle Luggage

Motorcycles No Comments

You just brought that brand new bike home and as you’re standing there admiring not only the appearance of it, but the sweet deal you got on it as well, you noticed that something was missing. You are planning on taking an extensive two-week road trip within the next month, but there isn’t enough storage on that bike to accommodate your needs, especially with clothing, food, and gear.

Now you’re confronted with a dilemma. You’ve already decided that you want the matching saddle bags and trunk that are available through the manufacturer (which you should have done when you ordered the bike). However, it’s too late to do that now since they won’t arrive in time for that road trip. So you’ve decided to purchase some used motorcycle luggage for the time being.

You wouldn’t normally worry about buying new equipment, but you are concerned about buying it used. Whether you have decided on hard or soft luggage, purchasing the equipment used is a great way to save a few bucks and still be able to take off on that long awaited trip that is right around the corner. So, just to throw you a little advice, here are 5 tips to help you make that purchase.

Tip #1 - Educate yourself on the different types of motorcycle luggage. First of all, motorcycle luggage is classified in two categories — hard and soft. Then there are the subcategories — saddlebags, tank bags, and trunks. These come in a variety of materials, but leather is always recommended most.

Tip #2 - Don’t over-purchase the luggage. A lot of new riders (and even some experienced ones) make the mistake of buying more motorcycle luggage than what is necessary. Even when you are purchasing used luggage, this still equates to wasting your money. Additionally, there is the issue of overwhelming the bike with more than what is necessary, and this could result in the bike becoming unstable.

Tip #3 - If you want to find used motorcycle luggage, the first place to shop is at a used motorcycle dealer. Makes sense to me. There are used motorcycle parts shops that you can visit as well. Despite these venues, probably the easiest way to shop for used luggage is online, but there are no guarantees that the items will fit properly.

Tip #4 - Ride your bike on that shopping excursion. Common sense would tell you that this is the best way to ensure that what you purchase fits properly and therefore eliminates any guesswork, which I feel is like making assumptions. And we all know the outcome when we assume things, don’t we?

Tip #5 - Once you have found the motorcycle luggage you want, give it a thorough inspection. Four things to make sure of:

- all the locks lock properly and all the zippers zip easily (and stay zipped)

- if there is a lock (or locks), make sure you get the right key (or keys)

- there are no rips, tears, or unstitched seams in the material

- there are no problems with any of the brackets or clips closing when it comes to mounting, and securing the luggage

Top Accessories for Riders of BMW Motorcycles

Motorcycles No Comments

BMW motorcycle owners are very particular about their bikes, like other motorcycle owners. But in some cases, the riders of BMW motorcycles take their fastidiousness to a larger degree, often pampering their bikes with the best materials and accessories that can be found anywhere.

This meticulousness in their care for their motorcycles has led some companies and individuals to develop accessories that are only for BMW motorcycles. Here are some of the top items that owners of these bikes can get to enhance their rides.

First of all, and maybe most exciting, are custom windshields. The owners of BMW motorcycles are lucky in that they can get custom windshields made by someone who used to make aircraft windshields. Because of this, these windshields are particularly well-designed. Called Cee Bailey windshields, these can be ordered in custom lengths and in a variety of tints. All are free of distortions that are common in all other windshields, and all are thicker than traditional windshields. Cee Bailey windshields can be made for all types of BMW motorcycles. To find them, do an online search for “Cee Bailey BMW motorcycles windshields”.

Another accessory that many owners of BMW motorcycles choose to purchase is Russell Day-Long Touring Saddles. Granted, these custom-made seats are not only made for BMW motorcycles; however, a large percentage of riders who purchase the Day-Long Touring Saddles are BMW owners.

The Russell Day-Long Touring Saddles can be customized in many ways. The manufacturers take the rider’s (or riders’) height and weight and looks at pictures of the customer(s) sitting in their previous motorcycle seats. The saddles are then designed to the customer specifications as to color, fabric, style, and other considerations. Customers may also choose to add lumbar support or to make theirs a heated saddle seat. Seats can also be embroidered with a customer name or initials.

Then, of course, most riders of BMW motorcycles want a GPS (global positioning system) unit. But BMW riders don’t just want to head to the nearest electronics store to purchase one. No, they want the special GPS unit that was developed by BMW. This is called the BMW Motorrad Navigator GPS.

This unit comes in a few different model types, but all include street maps for every state in the United States, an anti-glare high definition surface so that they can be read even in direct sunlight, and text-to-speech software that enables the rider to listen to directions rather than having to take his eyes off of the road to read them.

Most BMW owners also want to get customized helmets and other riding gear. Customization is really the name of the game when it comes to BMW motorcycles. Helmets can be sized to fit larger heads, which can be quite helpful for many people. Other riders prefer to have unique riding jackets or handlebar grips. Some riders of BMW motorcycles even like to customize their motorcycle parts; items such as tires, chain guards, spark plugs, gauges, and more. Having items made to order is something many BMW owners greatly enjoy.

What to Look for in Motorcycle Reviews

Motorcycles No Comments

When it comes to motorcycle reviews, it’s fairly easy to find them online as they are as numerous as the number of people doing the reviewing. The problem with online (and offline) reviews is that none of them really follow a basic format based on critical issues of purchasing a motorcycle. The other problem that seems to be a common omission with these critiques is that none of them talk about who the particular type of bike is suited for. Everybody’s needs and wants are different, especially when it comes to performance, comfort, power needed, primary use of the bike, and so on.

What you always will find is content about size of the engine, type of engine, horsepower, fuel efficiency, etc. The reviews always have neglected saying what type of user the bike is designed for — and I’m not referring to gender. I’m referring to age group of the individual and what they really need to be looking for. Here’s a list of what should be in motorcycle reviews and rarely is:

- What type of body style is the bike designed to fit?

- A listing of all the options that come standard or are available to add for a price

- How does the particular type of motorcycle relate to the driver’s abilities

- Cost and frequency of repairs (believe it or not, this isn’t always in a review)

- Difficulty factors involved in finding replacement parts

One thing that is always a critical issue is if the bike overwhelms the rider or if the rider is too tall for the bike. It’s a comfort factor first and foremost, but equally as important is the safety issue. If the bike overwhelms the rider, the consequences could be very hazardous to the rider’s health and well-being. An overwhelming bike cannot be handled properly nor controlled properly

Every bike on the market usually has a list of options available, but that list may or may not tell the buyer what is included as standard and what adds to the cost. This is often covered on the price tag, but sometimes there are other options that can be included as standard in place of those that are listed.

Is the rider experienced enough to handle the bike they are thinking about buying, or is the bike going to eventually become boring to the rider?

You got a great deal when you purchased the bike, but what are normal maintenance and repairs going to cost you? Furthermore, what is the frequency of those repairs — infrequent occurrences versus repairs being needed too frequently.

Finally, how difficult is it going to be for you to find replacement parts when you need to perform normal maintenance or make necessary repairs? If that bike is your only means of transportation, and you have to wait two or three weeks for parts in order to do the repairs, you’re in a world of hurt. So you want to make sure that there is never problem being able to repair your bike so you don’t miss any time on the road or at work or both.

Reasons to Consider a Victory Motorcycle For Your Next Purchase

Motorcycles No Comments

With the current market trend depicting a retraction in sales in the motorcycle industry, Harley-Davidson has planned a reduction in shipments for the third quarter of 2008. But when confronted with the question of “Will you be doing the same?” Mark Blackwell, VP of Victory Motorcycles and International Operations stated that they have a 10-15% growth goal for the year.

Therefore, in answer to the question above, it can be safely assumed that Victory Motorcycles has no intention of mimicking Harley-Davidson’s idea. Blackwell also stated that in addition to not backing off in their shipments of product, they will also build up their dealer network, rather than expand with a training focus of the existing staff.

Victory’s edge against a retracting market includes the latest addition to their “touring” products — the Victory Vision. This stylishly unique introduction into the touring category of inventory gives the advantage to Victory in the custom cruiser market. And Blackwell has adamantly stated that he feels Victory no has an excellent chance of nearly doubling their sales opportunities with the addition of this beauty to the already high quality line of bikes that exists. The vision is manufactured with a 106 cubic inch 50-degree V-Twin engine and comes well-equipped to attract considerable interest of Victory showroom visitors.

Besides tweaking the numbers a bit, Victory Motorcycles focused on some design revisions especially with their signature bike — the Freedom V100/6. The bike is built with an air/oil-cooled, single overhead cam (SOHC), 50-degree V-Twin motor. The lowering of the compression ratio from 9.8:1 down to 8.7:1 has created a reduction in “spark knock” and boosted horsepower and torque as a result. The new, closed-loop injection system with its fully-sequential operation feeds the larger 45mm throttle body.

The changes made to the oil-cooling operations round out the rest of the upgrades to the Freedom V100/6. Where oil-cooling is concerned, the oil flow path was altered in order to cool the exhaust valve bridge therefore preventing a reduction in the size of the 31mm exhaust valve. As a consequence, there will be no loss of power, and this also enabled the utilization of a smaller oil cooler as well.

Noise pollution and the reduction of it were also key focal points for Victory Motorcycle this past year in that they employed the use of a taller sixth gear in order to reduce the noise that results from the transmission meshing. It also reduced the bike’s cruising RPMs, but only by 3%. Other areas that noise reduction was the targeted goal included a “re-tuned” compensator and split-gear clutch, the addition of more sound-deadening ribbing inside the cover, a quieter alternator, and longer closing ramps combined with slower valve-closing speeds.

This last factor was responsible for eliminating most of the top-end tick that frequently occurred with these particular bikes. Finally, the handlebar grips were redesigned, but in addition to this, heated grips were added as an option in their parts and accessories line.

Motorcycle and Relay: What Does It Do For the Motorcycle?

Motorcycles No Comments

It is not uncommon for motorcycle owners to notice the weak electrical systems in their motorcycles. How do you fix that? Your motorcycle and relay can take the pressure off the electrical system by diverting the lights, or whatever you may hook your motorcycle and relay to, so that the electrical stress is taken of the original electrical system.

Motorcycle and relay is used for headlights and has even been reported to brighten the lights after installation. Keep in mind that motorcycle and relay is not for replacing bad wiring, just for taking the stress off the existing electrical system.

A motorcycle horn is usually weak, and unimpressive. Motorcycle and relay for horns can significantly increase the output of a horn. There are some motorcycle and relay kits for horns that make the motorcycle horn sound like a fog horn. When a car cuts you off on the freeway, a little honk, honk isn’t going to phase him, but a Boom Boom will make him take a second look.

Flashers on a motorcycle can drain on a motorcycle’s electrical system too. To take the pressure off the electrical system, you can use motorcycle and relay for the flashers to make the flash standard DOT or adjustable flashing where you choose how slow or fast you want your flasher to blink. There is also a customizable flasher system that lets you choose the pattern of the blink.

Brake lights can also be put on to motorcycle and relay units. There are motorcycle brake lights that allow you to tap the brake once and the brake bar will flash to alert those behind you that they are following too closely.

Heated jacket and gloves can be put on a motorcycle and relay so that the extra electrical pull won’t affect the motorcycle’s electrical system. Heated accessories can be great for you during the cold weather, but not so great for your motorcycle. Do your motorcycle a favor and help it out by adding motorcycle and relay units to help during the cold weather.

Do you have more electrical accessories then you have sockets to plug them into? There is a motorcycle and relay unit that lets you add extra sockets to your motorcycle. Whether it is that CB radio, or GPS system, having extra sockets can certainly add to the usefulness of your motorcycle.

Worry about your motorcycle getting stolen? Use a motorcycle and relay to install a security system. The electrical system that was original straight from the factory may not be able to handle the demands of a security system. While security systems may be a deterrent, it won’t stop them permanently, but if your electrical system can’t handle the output needed for the security system, it definitely can’t protect your motorcycle. Tracking systems can be hooked up to motorcycle and relay kits as well. If your motorcycle does get stolen, it can be tracked and found, hopefully before it is torn apart.

The Top 6 Reasons to Get New Motorcycle Tires

Motorcycles No Comments

Motorcycle tires are very important on your motorcycle. They are one of the few things that comes between you and the road in the event of an emergency stop. They also keep you from hydroplaning in wet conditions, and can keep you comfortable on that long trip. So how do you know if you need new tires?

1. Hole or Leak

This probably seems like a very obvious choice, but sometimes you have to state the obvious. It is possible to just plug a hole, but this should be done from the inside out, not the outside in. When you plug a tire from the outside in, motorcycle tires have a tendency to lose the plug. While this doesn’t always happen, it is safer to plug from the inside out.

2. Worn sidewall

This also seems like an obvious one, but to someone who is new to the motorcycle game, motorcycle tires can be confusing. They are not the same as the motorcycle tires on a car. The sidewall can get worn for several reason. One of the top reasons for a worn sidewall is that the driver is leaning awkwardly. If you are not leaning and you still notice unusual wear in your sidewall, it might be in your best interest to verify this with a mechanic.

3.Wearing tread

How can you tell if there is little tread grooves on the tires? If you can stick a penny in with Lincoln’s head down and the top of the head can still be seen after sticking it in the groove, then you probably need new tires. Tread is what makes it possible to stop in wet weather, the grooves move water away from the center of the motorcycle tires so that the motorcycle tires can get a better grip on the road.

4. Age of tires

Motorcycle tires can degrade and erode with age. Just because you have a motorcycle sitting in a storage room for ten years, does not bean that the motorcycle tires are still in good condition. If the rubber is soft, chances are the material used to make the motorcycle tires has become worn after ten years.

5. Mileage

The harder the rubber on the tire the longer the motorcycle tires will last. In contrast, the softer the rubber is on the tire, the better the traction on the road. If you want more mileage, get harder tires, if you want better traction, get softer tires. Both types of motorcycle tires has its advantages. Traction means quicker stops and better turns. More mileage means less money paid out for new tires.

6. PSI on tires

To increase the life of the motorcycle tires, remember to check your tires on a regular basis. If you consistently keep your PSI lower then directed by the manufacturer, chances are you will wear out your tire, your tread, or your sidewalls. The longer you can keep the tread and sidewalls in good condition the longer your tires will last.

Motorcycles No Comments

Everyone knows about all of the major international car shows that make headlines around the world every year. The car companies use these shows to promote their products and show the entire industry what they have been up to, and what they are going to be introducing for their lineups in the coming year. Just like the car auto shows, the motorcycle show has many of the fanfare and interesting booths. But why go? The fanfare and excitement can translate into chaos and stress for others. Either way, it is fun to see futuristic motorcycles and to catch a glimpse at where the industry may be heading in the near future.

2. New Models at the International Motorcycle Show

3 Reasons to Wear Motorcycle Gloves

Motorcycles No Comments

Motorcycle gloves, gear and apparel seem like just accessories, not much of a necessity, especially something as minute as motorcycle gloves. Truth be told, motorcycle gloves can be very useful, here’s why.

Reason #1 — No Motorcycle Gloves Equals Wet Palms

Motorcycle gloves seem like a useless accessory, maybe just to look cool, but motorcycle gloves really do serve a purpose. Motorcycle gloves prevent your palms from sweating all over the grips of your handlebars. While they may not prevent them from sweating inside the motorcycle gloves, at least they give you a better grip.

Consider this, you are driving down the highway at 60 or 70 miles per hour and your palms are sweaty and you are not wearing motorcycle gloves, you decide to change lanes. You tighten the hold on the grips and move to adjust your handlebars in the direction of the move. Suddenly, you find your hands slipping off the grips causing you to go careening either into the median and heading into oncoming traffic, or into a ditch. Either way, the simple decision not to wear motorcycle gloves that day, could cost you your life along with the possibility of taking others with you.

Reason #2 — No Motorcycle Gloves means Hand Injuries

From the time a person is very small, the first instinct when falling is to put the hands out in front to brace the fall. It doesn’t change as we get older. When you watch someone falling, even if they are falling backward their hands flail in front of them. When you ride a motorcycle, this doesn’t change. When you see a fall coming, your hands go out in front of you, trying to brace yourself for the fall. Without motorcycle gloves, your hands could get broken, bruised bloodied and even severed from the wrists, depending on how bad the accident it.

For your hands, protect them with motorcycle gloves. Without motorcycle gloves, you could bruise your hands badly or worse making it difficult to ride again. motorcycle gloves seems like a simple solution right from the start.

Reason #3 — No Motorcycle Gloves means Numb Fingers

Anyone who has had cold fingers and tries typing on a computer or doing something with the hands that needs great dexterity knows how hard it is to type or grip something when the hands are cold. This same concept applies to motorcycles. Motorcycle gloves can keep the hands and fingers warm. This seems so obvious, but many people don’t understand the importance of warm hands when your at the controls of such a heavy piece of machinery.

Loss of control of a heavy piece of equipment can mean loss of life. Motorcycle gloves can mean the difference between thinking you hit the cruise control and then quickly slowing in front of a car coming at 70 miles per hour. It can mean not putting on the brakes fast enough because without the motorcycle gloves you can’t feel the amount of pressure on the hand controls. Cold hands mean numb fingers, and numb fingers means an accident waiting to happen. Motorcycle gloves aren’t just to look cool.

Motorcycle Windshields: Advantages and Disadvantages

Motorcycles No Comments

Motorcycle windshields are common on touring motorcycles. They can be added to just about any other type of motorcycle. Just like everything else, though, motorcycle windshields have advantages and disadvantages.

One advantage to having motorcycle windshields is that it blocks the wind and makes for a better and more comfortable ride. Having windshields there to block bugs flying at the face and rocks being thrown from the vehicles in front is definitely an advantage. No one wants to drive down the highway and suddenly taste a bug or see one spat on your cheek just below your eye. Windshields definitely offer the advantage of better obstacle blockage.

A disadvantage would be visibility. While it is great to have something to block things flying at your face, it isn’t so great when all that builds up on motorcycle windshields and blocks visibility. You can’t drive safely if you can’t see where you are going.

Another advantage is the aerodynamics of motorcycle windshields. They allow the air to flow evenly up and over the motorcycle. Having better aerodynamics with windshields can improve gas mileage and with the gas prices sky rocketing, any amount saved in gas is always an advantage.

A disadvantage would be the glare given off by motorcycle windshields. Not all windshields give off a glare, but when they do, they can be blinding. It is hard to drive when you are being blinded by the glare, likewise, it is hard for other drivers to drive with a glare.

Another disadvantage is the weather. In some weather, it is better to see without motorcycle windshields then it is to see with them. They can make it hard to see in foggy or wet weather. Just like with glasses, windshields can fog up, attract moisture and have ice. Any of these conditions can make it difficult for visibility.

If you get the wrong size it could definitely affect visibility. Trying to look over the windshield or under the top of the windshield can be annoying and dangerous. If you don’t look entirely through or entirely above your motorcycle windshields, you could have problems with blind spots due to the line in your line of vision.

One consideration that would give the best of both worlds would be removable motorcycle windshields. This would allow you to place it on the motorcycle when going on long trips, and remove it on bad weather days, or when visibility is poor to begin with. It can add to the aerodynamics when you ride in conditions that would affect the mileage and speed, such as uphill and curving roads. Also you may consider having the windshield tinted to reduce glare and increase visibility. Be careful how tinted you have the windshield though, because in dark conditions, it may make it hard to see if they are too dark. Glasses have anti fog coating and you can get the same coating for your motorcycle windshields.

Motorcycle Lifts: Air or Hydraulic

Motorcycles No Comments

Motorcycle Lifts can be a life saver in the event of a move. If you have to put your motorcycle on a transport trailer, or on the back of a truck, it is much easier to use a lift then it is to find a ramp and try to manually drive it up the ramp, or push it up the ramp. So what type of motorcycle lifts are better?

1. Ease of use

When choosing motorcycle lifts, one of the first things to think of is how easy it is to use. No one wants something that is going to more trouble then it is worth. Air motorcycle lifts use air pressure to lift it off the ground. Some lifts make it easier on the consumer by making foot pedals, but either way, the user is using muscle and manual power. Hydraulic lifts are much more convenient. They run on their own power and use little to no manual power to work. Hydraulic motorcycle lifts are much less physically demanding on the user. If ease of use is more important to you then hydraulic lifts may be what you are looking for.

2. Cost of device

The more convenient motorcycle lifts are, the more they cost. Air lifts are much more cost effective then hydraulic motorcycle lifts. While you pay more for ease of use, you also pay for convenience. Both air and hydraulic lifts are convenient for a motorcycle enthusiast. If you are repairing your motorcycle and have it taken apart where it cannot move on its own power, then motorcycle lifts allow you to move it around the shop with as much ease as if you were pushing a shopping cart. Either way, the convenience far outweighs the cost for someone who is constantly moving a motorcycle.

3. Construction

The better constructed motorcycle lifts are, the more it will cost. The lifts with the best reputations are constructed much better than the lifts from other manufacturers. While the lighter lifts and the motorcycle lifts that are more compact may be better on space, and more convenient for storage, the heavier more sturdy models do cost more. Heavier, more structurally sound lifts can cost more, but be safer then the lighter lifts.

4. Aesthetics

Everyone knows the prettier something is, the more it will cost. Whether it is air lifts or hydraulic ifts, the better it looks, the more colorful, the more pleasing to the eye it is the more it will cost. While pretty motorcycle lifts do not mean they work better, many people want the prettier design to liven up a shop or work space. Motorcycle lifts that look better naturally sell better. What are you willing to pay for? Do you want to pay for the pretty colored paint? Do you want to pay for the shinier chrome lifts? Are aesthetics an important part of your buying decision? What feature on motorcycle lifts makes it a more desirable purchase?

4 Things That Turn Girls with Motorcycles into Motorcycle Babes

Motorcycles No Comments

It takes more then just a fancy motorcycle to be motorcycle babes. Just having a motorcycle does not turn girls with motorcycles into motorcycle babes. So what does?

1. Love of Motorcycles

Motorcycle babes do not have motorcycles just to be noticed. They are not doing for the attention they get from it nor are they doing it because it is the “cool” thing to do. If you are a woman with a motorcycle and you are just doing it because it looks good and because you get noticed, you have not reached the status of motorcycle babes. True motorcycle babes would ride a motorcycle even if there was no one around to notice them. motorcycle babes are the ones that know the difference between a liquid cooled engine and an air cooled engine. Motorcycle babes could change a tire, customize their handlebars, and add a backrest without blinking an eye.

2. Confidence

Motorcycle babes exude confidence. They do not need someone standing there staring and gawking at them to feel beautiful and alive and full of energy and enthusiasm. Unlike so many photos and stereo types, motorcycle babes can be more then just the supermodel standing in front of the Kawasaki in daisy dukes and a tight tank top bending over pretending to inspect the tire. They can also be more then the other image of the butch woman who is more manly then the bikers she rides with. Motorcycle babes can be short, tall, thin, full figured, young or old. Motorcycle babes is the whole package, not just what you see. Motorcycle babes feel comfortable in both jeans and dresses. They can go out with their hair in a ponytail with no make up and not care who sees them.

3. Self Worth

Motorcycle babes know that they are worth more then a compromising position in front or on that Honda motorcycle. Real motorcycle babes have children and jobs that don’t involve skimpy clothes. That is not to say that those models who pose half naked in front of the motorcycles can’t be real motorcycle babes, if they know there is more to who they are then guys gawking at them drooling half at them and half at the motorcycles that accompany them. Motorcycle babes know that even without the motorcycle they are someone. Motorcycle babes know that even though they don’t need the bike to be noticed, they deserve the bike.

4. Thrill seekers

Real motorcycle babes are thrill seekers. They love the feel of the motorcycle under them riding down the highway. They aren’t afraid of spreading their wings. When motorcycle babes are going down the highway they can feel the wind flapping all around them, they feel like they are flying. There is nothing better then knowing that you have complete control over this machine that has more power then any one person should possess. The vibrations from the motor and the curves in the road go through your entire body. Motorcycle babes feel alive.

How to Find and Use a Motorcycle Trader

Motorcycles No Comments

Maybe you have a motorcycle, but you would like to sell it in order to be able to purchase a different motorcycle that would be better suited to your current needs. Perhaps you are just looking to just buy a used motorcycle to either use as a first bike or to add to your collection. Whatever your reason, you are looking to either sell and/or purchase a motorcycle.

And, maybe you are extremely busy and don’t have time to worry about dealing with classified ads. You can’t be bothered with searching through them or with placing an ad and dealing with any resulting phone calls. But, you don’t want to go to a dealership, either, and have to pay exorbitant prices for your bike. Luckily, though, there is a solution: you can turn to an online motorcycle trader.

Even if you have never purchased anything online before, you can work through an online motorcycle trader to get the bike that you want. Here’s how to find a motorcycle trader and go through the process of finding and/or selling a motorcycle.

First of all, you need to find a reputable online motorcycle trader. Do a web search for “motorcycle trader” and look at the results that come up. Check out several of the largest motorcycle trader websites as well as any that may be near to your location. Look to make certain that they have legitimate credentials, an address (not a P.O. Box) and phone number through which they can be contacted, and user testimonials about the service. Read through the sites and then go with your gut; choose the one that seems the best to you.

On the site, there should be a clearly defined procedure for listing your bike for sale (if that is what you would like to do, of course). Make sure you follow the guideline exactly; any deviations from their rules could cause a problem for you. Do not misrepresent anything about your motorcycle. Motorcycle trader websites are successful because they offer honesty in their transactions; you need to be completely honest about your bike.

When going to the motorcycle trader website section where you list the bike that you are looking for, you should be able to both list specific models and types of motorcycles and list generalities. The generalities section is there in case you do not have a specific model in mind. Perhaps you know that you want a 250cc motorcycle that is American-made, for example. The motorcycle trader can take this information and find bikes that match with this information and suggest them to you as options.

Most motorcycle traders charge for their services; using those websites is not a free service. But, given that it can save you a great deal of time in searching for a buyer for your bike, it can definitely be worth the cost. Also, because motorcycle websites have people from all over the country posting bikes for sale, you have a much greater chance of finding the bike you really want than you would if you were to restrict yourself to searching in the classifieds.

These Honda motorcycles had a Double Overhead Cam fuel control the same as the 1987 model . As far as the specifications are concerned, the 1987 and the 1986 Honda motorcycles are exactly the same. Where the main difference seems to be is in the design. In the design and look, the 1986 model scored more then 15 points higher then the 1987 model and more then 6 points better then the 1987 model in racing track abilities. In repair and maintenance costs, the 1986 model scored 18 points better. Favorite Motorcycle Parts and Accessories for the Enthused Rider

Motorcycles No Comments

Adding motorcycle parts and accessories to a motorcycle can be a real thrill. Taking a naked motorcycle and changing it into a custom motorcycle is a source of great pride. What are some favorite motorcycle parts and accessories to add?

If you live in a relatively cold climate area, you can’t beat heating elements in the seat and grips. This is especially true if you go on long trips and tours. No one likes a cold butt after driving a hundred or more miles. Adding a heating element to the seat can give your rear and your passengers rear a comfortable toasty feel. The same goes for the hands. It is physically hard to grip and turn precisely when your hands are cold. Anyone who has tried to push buttons with practically frozen hands can tell you how hard it is to drive this way.

More motorcycle parts and accessories to add to your motorcycle is storage. Saddlebags can be great for this. They can come in many different shapes and sizes. There are also sissy bar bags. Any type of storage can add value to a motorcycle. Motorcycle parts and accessories that allow a driver to take a longer tour or even a longer ride can be very desirable to any driver.

Motorcycle parts and accessories that add customization can add to the value of the motorcycle. A custom paint job and custom fenders make a motorcycle look fantastic. If you go for the whole flame theme, a black tank with flames painted across the top and assorted flames on the fenders, there are many motorcycle parts and accessories that can go with this theme. Some of them include matching helmets, and jackets. You can even get tires to matched a particular theme.

Custom handlebars can make for a unique motorcycle. Motorcycle parts that make a motorcycle unique can certainly drive up the value of a motorcycle. You can add ape hangers, beach bars, or cruiser handlebars for added comfort. When you have decided on what type of handlebars you want, you can decide on grips. Grips can be heated, studded, black, chrome, and fat or skinny. The more comfortable the motorcycle is the more you will love driving it.

You can also add lights to your motorcycle to give it higher visibility and added aesthetic value. Lights can come in a multitude of colors and can outline the base of your motorcycle, but some states and counties have restrictions on the type of lights that can be added to a motorcycle so be sure to check with them before adding any lights.

Adding an audio system can add to the value and give it a more technologically advanced look. A great sound system is a bonus whether it is in a car or in a decked out motorcycle. In addition to an audio system, you can add a communication system to radio your friends or make new friends on the way to Sturgis.

3 Advantages to Using Removable Motorcycle Graphics

Motorcycles No Comments

Motorcycle graphics can make a nice bike into a killer bike. Motorcycle graphics allow bikers to customize and personalize their bikes. Unfortunately, a custom paint job complete with airbrush graphics can cost a small fortune. The alternative is reusable, removable motorcycle graphics.

Advantage #1 — More Cost Effective

Motorcycle graphics that are removable and reusable are considerably more affordable. Custom paint jobs and permanent motorcycle graphics can cost thousands of dollars and take a lot of time to complete. Reusable, removable motorcycle graphics can cost as little as $5. You can even get whole sets of motorcycle graphics for an affordable $20. Because of how affordable these types of motorcycle graphics are, you can even have several sets and change them often to give a new feel to your motorcycle or whenever the mood strikes. When your preferences change, it is cheap enough to change the motorcycle graphics, too. New designs emerge all the time, using removable and reusable motorcycle graphics means it is inexpensive enough to change with the times.

Advantage #2 — Fool Proof, No Mistake About It

Motorcycle graphics can look great when they come from a professional, but when amateurs try their hand, they can look, well, amateurish. With these reusable and removable motorcycle graphics, they are practically fool proof. If you make a mistake, they come off just as easy as they went on. You can move them and adjust them to your hearts content. Motorcycle graphics can look great, unless they are off or filled with bubbles. Then your motorcycle with its motorcycle graphics and all the imperfections can look terrible. Great looking motorcycle graphics makes a great looking motorcycle. Being able to adjust them at any time means being able to change the look of your motorcycle with the same motorcycle graphics at any time. Because it is fool proof it can be a project even the kids can help with. Anything that the whole family can do together is a good thing.

Advantage #3 — Removable Means Re-customizable

How many times have you seen or maybe even had a design on the motorcycle of your dreams and years later, when the design gets old, you wish you could change it? With removable motorcycle graphics, you can change it as often as you like. Another advantage for removable motorcycle graphics is that if you sell your motorcycle but are still in love with the design, you can keep it for the next motorcycle you purchase. Plus, not everyone has the same taste you have, so when you sell it, you could get a higher resale value, just by selling it the way you bought it. Sometimes, a motorcycle can have a higher blue book value, just by being in its original condition. While custom paint jobs on motorcycles can bring high prices, a custom paint job is preferential, not everyone has the same preferences as you, so it might be a plus to potential buyers that your motorcycle has no customizations that they may not like.

3 Things to Consider When Renting a Motorcycle Trailer

Motorcycles No Comments

If you are going on a long trip or a week long rally, traveling 2,000 miles away can seem daunting knowing that the only space you have for supplies is your saddlebags. A saddlebag won’t fit everything needed for a week long stay, no matter how light you pack. The solution is a motorcycle trailer. Here are some things to consider when choosing a motorcycle trailer.

1. How long is your trip going to be?

The longer the trip, the bigger and more equipped a motorcycle trailer should be. Some motorcycle trailer units come equipped with spare tires. If you are going to be going on a long trip, getting a motorcycle trailer unit with a spare tire might be a very safe way to go. Some motorcycle trailer units even have sleeping areas. The motorcycle trailer lid pops up to attach a tent to the top. This motorcycle trailer is big enough to sleep one person, if you are going alone, this could make for a comfortable and some what cheap sleeping arrangement. This type of motorcycle trailer allows for storage beneath the tent area. Some motorcycle trailer units also allow for items to be tied on top of the motorcycle trailer unit. Think of the weather when choosing this kind of motorcycle trailer. If the weather is not going to be great, you can cover your items with a tarp or put items that won’t be hurt by the weather. If you don’t want your items in the weather at all, then maybe this is not they type of motorcycle trailer for you.

2. What kind of roads will you be traveling on?

This may sound like a silly question, but if you are traveling on climbing roads and winding roads rather then straight roads, you could save gas and wear on your motorcycle if you get an aerodynamic motorcycle trailer. It may not seem like much, but having a motorcycle trailer pulling back on your motorcycle when you are trying to push it forward. This can cause the engine to work harder and the gas mileage to be poor. Aerodynamics affects the speed and the gas mileage, so if you are going on winding and climbing roads, do your motorcycle a favor and get an aerodynamic motorcycle trailer.

3. How much horsepower does your motorcycle have?

Again, this may sound like a useless question, but if you have a motorcycle with little horsepower, it will be easier on your motorcycle if you get a motorcycle trailer that is relatively light. Some motorcycle trailer units can be as heavy as nearly 400 pounds, some can be closer to 90 pounds. If you have a low horsepower motorcycle your engine would work harder to pull the motorcycle trailer unit up a hill or even starting from a stopped position. The weight also affects the gas mileage. With the gas prices as high as they are and continuously climbing, the more in gas mileage you can save, the better it is on your wallet. Keep in mind, you should also include the weight from the supplies and equipment, spare tire, and tent (should you decide the tent is for you). Motorcycle trailer units can be very light with the technology available today.

Reasons to Buy Used Motorcycles Rather then New Motorcycles

Motorcycles No Comments

There are many reasons to buy used motorcycles rather then buying new motorcycles. Used motorcycles can be worth just as much as a new one is, as far as blue book value is concerned, but not always, especially if you happen to get one that becomes a collectors item for one reason or another. Here are some reasons to buy used motorcycles rather then buying new motorcycles:

1. This is your first motorcycle.

If you are new to the biking world, and this is your first motorcycle, used motorcycles might just be perfect for you. Being new to the biking world, it might be easier to scratch, dent, ding, or otherwise totally disable your motorcycle if you know that it is used motorcycles rather then brand new. Even more experienced riders and drivers prefer used motorcycles because of this reason. If you are on a worn in motorcycle, you might feel more at ease taking it on dirt roads and up mountainous climbs. New motorcycles tend to have that new motorcycle shine that no one wants to mess up. You might end up babying a new motorcycle where you wouldn’t used motorcycles.

2. Thrill of the customization.

Many bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts prefer to purchase used motorcycles just so that they can fix them up and sell them later. If you are new to the customization game, it is perfect to start out on used motorcycles that way if you make a mistake, you won’t feel like it is costing you thousands of dollars. If you have an idea in your head, but you can’t figure out just how to get it right, used motorcycles are perfect for experimenting on. If you want to try a bigger engine but this is the first time you have tampered with an engine, used motorcycles are perfect to practice on. If you mess up used motorcycles it won’t be as hard to live with as opposed to messing up a 20 thousand dollar brand new motorcycle.

3. Low budget.

Most used motorcycles cost far less then a new motorcycle. If you are low on cash, or you can’t get financed for a new motorcycle. Used motorcycles might be the perfect alternative. Used motorcycles tend to cost less and insurance on them are typically less. If any one could use savings it is certainly a new motorcycle enthusiast. Though something else to consider when buy used motorcycles over new ones is that some motorcycles may be more rare then others meaning it will cost more to replace parts. When you have put some equity into your used motorcycles, and you sell them for considerably more then you bought them for, if you decide you want a new motorcycle and your budget now allows, you will have kept from getting in debt deeper then you could safely get out. A low budget is usually a temporary problem, but debt collections and repossessions can haunt you your entire life.

Things to Consider when Thinking About Motorcycle Shipping

Motorcycles No Comments

For some people, they would not mind driving their motorcycle across the nation, or across the state. Some people are going for a long vacation, and want their motorcycle out there with them. Other people are moving, and need to get their motorcycle to that place. While there are people who are willing to drive their motorcycle that entire way, others do not feel comfortable doing that. These people turn to motorcycle shipping. Motorcycle shipping is a great way to get your motorcycle from point a to point b without having to worry about the transportation hassle. There are some risks and worries that are involved with using motorcycle shipping to move a motorcycle, however. There are four major things to consider when thinking about motorcycle shipping. Knowing this information on motorcycle shipping will help you to be more comfortable with your decision to use motorcycle shipping.

Where is it Coming From or Going to?

One of the major things to consider and think about with thinking of motorcycle shipping is the distance that you need to have the motorcycle shipped. Some people are shipping a motorcycle that they have sold on the internet. Other people are using motorcycle shipping to ship their motorcycle to a destination that they will be going to at the same time. Either way, the distance that you need to ship the motorcycle is important in your decision to use motorcycle shipping, as it can change the cost and ability of the carrier.

How much will it Cost?

The other most important thing to consider when thinking about motorcycle shipping is the cost of shipping it to the place that it needs to be shipped. While it is great to set a budget, the cost completely depends on the company that you use. By researching the different companies and their prices, you can better understand if you can afford to use motorcycle shipping to ship your vehicle.

What is the History of the Company?

This requires extra effort and research, but is incredibly important when considering motorcycle shipping. If you want to use motorcycle shipping to move your motorcycle, you need to know the history of the company. Looking online for testimonials or reviews of the company can help you to understand if they will take care of your motorcycle during the motorcycle shipping process. Look for reviews to understand any problems or issues that people have had previously to know how reputable the motorcycle shipping company is.

What are the Risks?

There are some risks involved when choosing motorcycle shipping as a means to move your motorcycle, however. There is the chance that your motorcycle may be damaged in the process. Check the contract and understand the motorcycle shipping company’s policy on damaged merchandise. If they do not protect your motorcycle, you may want to look for another motorcycle shipping company. Understanding the risks of motorcycle shipping can help you to make sure you protect your motorcycle.

What to Consider When Choosing Motorcycle Saddlebags

Motorcycles No Comments

Motorcycles don’t always come equipped with motorcycle saddlebags. The ones that come equipped have a bonus of added storage, but how do you know which motorcycle saddlebags to choose?

Consider the weather when choosing motorcycle saddlebags.

Most motorcycle saddlebags are made of leather. Some are water resistant, and some are water resistant. The difference in this is that water proof means that water will not damage the motorcycle saddlebags, but resistant means that while it repels water, it cannot be immersed completely in water or for long periods of time. If you live in an area that is very wet, it would probably be in your best interest to invest in water proof motorcycle saddlebags rather then just water resistant.

To Reinforce or Not Reinforce, that is the question.

Reinforced motorcycle saddlebags tend to cost a little more then motorcycle saddlebags without reinforcement. If you plan on using the motorcycle saddlebags to their utmost capacity, it might be in your best interest to invest in reinforced motorcycle saddlebags rather then those without reinforcement. Considering how much it would cost to have to replace motorcycle saddlebags because they wore out, buying motorcycle saddlebags without reinforcement could get quite costly.

It is the size that counts.

While most people think that bigger is better, in motorcycle saddlebags, this isn’t always the case. Consider exactly how much space you will be using and then consider how much weight this will add to the motorcycle. The more weight motorcycle saddlebags add to the motorcycle, the worse the gas mileage is. With gas prices soaring, the better the gas mileage, the better it is for you. If you truly need a lot of storage space, getting large motorcycle saddlebags could be the answer. Though if you can get away with smaller motorcycle saddlebags, you should try. While they add convenience, they can also add weight and make the motorcycle off balance if they are not installed properly.

Fancy or Plain?

Now that you have decided on water proof or water resistant motorcycle saddlebags. You have chosen reinforced or not reinforced, and you have decided on the size, you can decide on design. Motorcycle saddlebags can have studs, they can have tassels. Motorcycle saddlebags can be plain, or brightly colored. Motorcycle saddlebags can have decorative decals such as flames, or company logos. If you are looking for cost effective, remember that all these things make motorcycle saddlebags more expensive. The more fancy you make your motorcycle saddlebags the more you will spend on them.

Hard or Soft?

Hard motorcycle saddlebags can protect your items better. The hard motorcycle saddlebags keeps the items inside from being crushed. On the other hand, the softer motorcycle saddlebags tend to take up less space. When they are not in use, they can be pushed in closer to the motorcycle. The less the motorcycle saddlebags stick out, the better it is for the aerodynamics of your motorcycle. If you have items that may be damaged if something were to push against the saddlebags, then a hard motorcycle saddlebags.

Motorcycles No Comments

Some people who own motorcycles find it easier to simply take their motorcycles into a shop and tell them to fix it. They do not care how much it costs, or where the parts come from, as long as their motorcycles get fixed. Other people are not comfortable with this, however. Some people simply want to know that they are getting parts for a more reasonable price. Other people are actually able to fix their motorcycles on their own. Either way, these people are consistently looking for parts for their motorcycles. Search Online Auction Sites

Online auction sites are an amazing way to try to find parts for motorcycles. Online auction web sites are a great way to try and bid the lowest possible price for the parts that you are looking for. Things like how long you have been driving, how many speeding tickets you have, and how many accidents you have been in will be asked.

Convenience is what the internet is all about and getting a motorcycle insurance quote online saves you loads of time and trouble. 3 Things That Affect Blue Book Value of a Motorcycle

Motorcycles No Comments

The blue book value of a motorcycle can be a very important tool in determining how much you should pay for a particular make and model. It can also be an important tool in determining how much you can get as a trade in or how much you can sell it for. So what things make the blue book value of a motorcycle more valuable?

1. Condition of the Motorcycle.

The condition of the motorcycle is very important. Mileage on a motorcycle is not a factor when determining the blue book value of a motorcycle. What is important is that the motorcycle was taken care of and that it is clean. The better care it was given, the more it will be worth. Consider this, two motorcycles have the same mileage. One motorcycle was ridden hard with only the bare minimum maintenance. The other motorcycle was ridden on highways and paved roads and was washed after every ride, maintenance was done regularly whether it appeared to need it or not, and parts designed to wear out were replaced regularly. Though they have the same mileage, the second motorcycle is clearly in better condition, therefore the blue book value of that motorcycle will be more then the first motorcycle. This is why condition is so important in the blue book value of a motorcycle.

2. Year, Make and Model of the Motorcycle.

While these are things that you cannot change, they do affect the blue book value of the motorcycle. The blue book value of a motorcycle can fluctuate. This has to do with the market. If a motorcycle is in high demand, it can have a higher blue book value. Also, if the year, make, and model becomes a collectors item, that will also increase the blue book value of the motorcycle. A motorcycle that has a limited number manufactured can have a high blue book value. It is often difficult to determine if the blue book value of a motorcycle will increase based on this in future years, or if your make and model will become a collectors item. Holding out another year may allow the blue book value of the motorcycle to rise, but it also may cause it to drop too.

3. Accessories and Customizations.

As far as blue book value goes, this is one of the things you do have control over. The blue book value of a motorcycle can be considerably increased with accessories and customizations of your motorcycle. The more customized your motorcycle is, the higher the blue book value can be. While the blue book value of the motorcycle doesn’t take into account the accessories you have added to your motorcycle, a dealer may be able to give you a more accurate blue book value. Padded seats, added heating elements, customized paint jobs, fairings, handlebars and grips; all these can add to the blue book value of the motorcycle. If you are buying a used motorcycle with the intent of fixing it up to sell it later, keep in mind that the better the accessories and the more customized it is, the higher the blue book value for that motorcycle may be.
