Diesel engine principles are pretty straight forward for the experienced mechanic but what about regular everyday people who have never taken the time to find out more about a diesel engine and how it works?
I am going to explain in layman terms the basic principles of a diesel engine.
What is the difference between a gasoline engine and a diesel engine?
The first thing you should know is a gasoline engine and a diesel engine are totally different. A gasoline engine is constructed much lighter than the heavier built diesel engine. The gasoline engine runs on a air and fuel mixture combined with a high energy spark that is timed to ignite inside each engine cylinder at the precise time creating power and torque turning force which drives your vehicle.
A diesel engine uses high compression intake air that is compressed into a very small space inside each cylinder causing extreme heat. This is called heat of compression which ignites a very fine high pressure mist of diesel fuel that is injected into each cylinder at the exact time.
So you now know that a gasoline engine needs a high energy spark to run while a diesel uses heat of compression. The four stroke principle in all engines run on four strokes or four cycles, both these terms mean the same.
Here is how the four stroke diesel engine operates. The four strokes are intake, compression, power and exhaust.
The pistons, valves and injectors work together in each cylinder in a set sequence over and over.
Intake stroke. Intake valves in the cylinder head open allowing pressurized air to enter each cylinder while the piston is traveling downward. The pressurized air supply is made possible by the turbocharger which pushes air into the intake system giving the diesel engine a boost of air to keep up with instantaneous injection of fuel.
Compression stroke. When the piston starts to move upward the valves close which traps the intake air in the cylinder and allows compression to take place. The heat of compression is reached when the piston reaches the top of the cylinder, the diesel fuel is then injected into the cylinder at the precise time.
Power stroke. After injection takes place an explosion occurs in the cylinder because of the combination of heat and atomized diesel fuel. This causes the piston to be forced downward which produces torque and the horsepower required from a typical diesel engine.
Exhaust stroke. After the power stroke the piston moves upward once again while the exhaust valves open allowing the previously ignited gases to escape to the atmosphere out the exhaust system.
As mentioned before each cylinder goes through this exact sequence over and over in a set firing order. For instance, a 6 cylinder diesel engine has a firing order 1 5 3 6 2 4 This is the order that each cylinder goes by, following the 4 strokes mentioned above.
This sequence has been engineered to allow the diesel engine to run smoothly with no imbalance.
Here is some diesel engine trivia on high performance diesel engines. Fuel passes through the injector at speeds of nearly 1500 miles per hour, as fast as a jet plane at top speed. Fuel is injected into the combustion chamber in less than 1.5 milliseconds, the same time it takes for a camera flash to go off.
The minimum amount of fuel injected into a diesel engine is one cubic millimeter, about the same volume as the head of a pin. Volkswagen has developed a one liter diesel powered car that got 100 kilometers out of .89 liter of fuel, 60 miles on less than one quart of fuel.
There is much to learn about diesel engines and a ton of information online. If you have ever considered buying a vehicle with a diesel engine you have my blessing.
The extra cost will be to your benefit, so I recommend finding out more about diesel engines before you decide which one to choose.
I hope you have found this information on diesel engines helpful.

Buying a 4X4 truck can be an overwhelming task. You could go for a well established manufacturer, but there are still much more options to consider nonetheless. And it doesn’t really matter who you are or where you are from, chances are that you are going to need a truck at least one in your lifetime. Now, if you’ve got the financial means to purchase one, that’s very good. If you don’t, you can always consider truck rental or truck leasing. And here are some pointers that could lead you in the right direction if you intend on purchasing a truck.
SIZE
How big a truck do you need? Do you need it for carrying things around from time to time, do you need it for your business? With these things in mind, decide upon the size of the truck that would be enough for you.
PRICE
Now I know you will instantly think of the price, so I needn’t tell you to watch out for the price. What you should know though is the fact that the price of a truck can vary greatly, depending on the model. It can go from affordable to very expensive, just like a car would.
ENGINE
Remember that one of the most important things to consider about a pickup truck is its engine. Most trucks possess a V6 engine. This engine relies on a fair enough amount of fuel. However, most full sized trucks usually have V8 engines that deplete the gas tank very fast. In this case, you should definitely consider a diesel engine.
NUMBER OF PEOPLE IT CAN CARRY
Will you be using the truck to transport people from one place to another? Maybe you’ve thought about starting a business like that. In this case, it’s advisable to buy an extended truck that can carry 8 or more people.
If you don’t have the means to actually buy a truck, you could always consider truck leasing, or truck renting. Truck renting is suitable for cases in which the purchase of a new truck isn’t justified. And here are some things to think about when leasing for short term:
1. Check all the prices and rental terms. You won’t lack companies which will offer leasing and rental services.
2. Be careful with the details. Don’t sign the contract for a rental until you are very clear about hidden costs and rental requirements. If there are any extra per mile fuel charges, make sure you know about them.
3. Make sure you check out the rental insurance. You want to make sure who is the insurance issued to.
4. Remember the time and place of the truck return. If you plan on going out of town, remember to take a map with you, so you won’t get lost.
Someday in your life, you will feel the need of a truck after all, they are one of the most important means of transportation on land. Whether you just want to move a few things or an entire house, you can surely find a truck that will suit your needs. Nowadays, many businesses make their deliveries with a 4X4 truck.

With its familiar red and white KW badge, Kenworth has always been a name synonymous with heavy duty trucking in Australia. The Kenworth K104 cab-over carries on in this tradition. It’s available in both flat roof and Aerodyne models.
Whether you’re pulling a single trailer or a B-Double or even a B-Triple, the Kenworth K104 may just meet your heavy duty trucking needs. And with specialist models such as twin steer and tri-drives also sold in Australia, particularly for the logging and mining industries, there are many options available for specialist haulers looking for the right used truck, although they may not be as easy to find.
Driver comfort and safety
This cab-over Kenworth model has been designed with driver comfort and safety in mind. From a safety perspective, the K104 includes four way mirrors which allow the driver to effectively see behind the trailer. Cabin visibility is assisted by the wrap-around dashboard and a deep windscreen which is available in either single or double screen styles. The wrap-around dash puts all the controls within easy reach of the driver. Many used trucks will also have peeper windows in the doors for that extra visibility and enhanced road safety. These peeper windows are available as an optional extra when sold new so not all used Kenworth K104s will have them included. The cab-over design offers both driver and passengers a smooth ride combined with excellent handling.
The Aerodyne cab-over
If you are after the added aerodynamic performance and fuel efficiency of the lightweight fibreglass Aerodyne model, then the K104 offers both single and bunk bed configurations for long distance and buddy system driving. Some used trucks will also have optional extras such as overhead lockers and storage shelves. New trucks also have the option to be fitted with TV, VCR and fridge so look out for these when inspecting any one owner or used truck that you are considering buying. The Aerodyne model naturally provides greater fuel economy and comfort for long distance haulage with its increased headroom.
Power options
New Kenworth K104s could be ordered with Caterpillar, Detroit or Cummins engines of up to 620 horsepower. So you should have no real problems finding a truck with the right horsepower and your preferred powerplant.
Made in Australia
According to a Kenworth media release “Kenworth trucks are designed and manufactured in Australia to meet the world’s toughest applications. Kenworth, a division of PACCAR Australia, is market leader in heavy duty trucks in Australia. Its trucks are also exported to Papua New Guinea and New Zealand.” So, not only will you buying a truck with a strong pedigree, you’ll be buying an Aussie born and bred workhorse.

We all like for our belongings to at least appear unique and special and one of the ways people are achieving this with their vehicles is by having modifications made to stock vehicles at half the price of custom ordering. Among the more popular modifications for trucks today are truck bed covers that have LED lights, blinking lights, under lighting, back lighting, special graphics, you name it. We are making our vehicles stand out and demand attention.
For those with less ostentatious desires, truck bed covers offer many benefits to drivers of trucks who do not need a massive amount of vertical cargo space. You must keep in mind before making the decision to make this particular modification the fact that you may be entirely sacrificing your ability to carry vertical cargo in your truck. Some are rather hesitant to make this particular decision because the bought their trucks for the ability to do just that. Others however find this no deterrent whatsoever and are ready and willing to make the necessary adjustments to their trucks and their plans.
Truck bed covers are more popular today than at any other point in history and their popularity only seems to be growing with the many modifications and additions that can be made to these covers. This is particular popular among young truck owners while older truck owners tend to select truck bed covers for the safety and security of their cargo alone. Not only do these nifty covers protect your cargo from the damage of sun, surf, wind, and rain; they also protect your belongings from prying eyes and sticky fingers that are looking for a quick grab no matter what it is.
If you have a truck lover in the family who has been eyeing a few truck bed covers for his truck you might want to see if you can either purchase a gift certificate to help him or her get the truck bed covers of their dreams or see if you can get several family members to go in together and buy one for them. It’s a great Christmas, wedding, graduation, birthday, or just because gift to give anyone you love. I do recommend unless you know your loved one extremely well, purchasing a gift certificate for the work rather than hijacking their truck and having the work done without their knowledge. It could be that they had something else in mind all together. Gift certificates work great in this particular situation provided you know the store they would select.
While truck bed covers do not make the truck, for many young men and women they make the truck a lot more fun to drive. Whether your goals for purchasing a truck bed cover is the safety of your belongings or adding a little style and pizzazz to your truck, I’m sure there are several truck bed covers that will suit your needs perfectly. Be sure to check out all of your available options thoroughly and completely before making your final decision and choose the one that will best suit your needs and desires for your truck.

Truck bed covers, also referred to as lids are an excellent way to keep your belongings stored safely away from the ravages of weather and prying eyes while keeping them close at hand. While truck bed covers aren’t for those who will need every available inch of vertical cargo space they are good choices for those who want to be able to store small items in the bed of their truck often but keep those items safe from sticky fingers that seem to abound in today’s society. These truck bed covers also protect your belongings from blowing in the wind as well as from being ruined by rain or sun.
Another great and often unexpected benefit of truck bed covers however, is the fact that these covers often serve to improve fuel economy by minimizing the drag. Not a bad little side benefit if you ask me. Prices may be slightly declining at the moment but I firmly believe that is only a temporary thing and everything you can do to lower your fuel consumption will eventually save you money.
There are essentially two types of truck bed covers: hard body covers and soft body covers. Hard body covers are the way to go if you are going for security as they are a hard surface and they are lockable. This means that the possibility of the theft of your belongings is far less likely. The hard body coverings will cost more than vinyl but when it comes to security it’s worth the extra money. These can be painted to match the body of your truck and even (if you so desire) have matching graphics added to them for the right price. The drawback to these is if you need the vertical space in your truck frequently, the hard truck bed covers are not always easy to remove and some don’t allow for their removal at all.
If you are going to need to haul cargo frequently, your best bet is likely to be the soft bed truck covers. These covers don’t offer nearly the security of their hard body counterparts, but they are convenient to adjust, add, and remove whenever the need arises. While they aren’t as rigid as the hard tops, they can hold their own in most weather situations even being able to handle up to twelve inches of snow or rain. Some are even strong enough to support the weight of two people standing on them. If you are a nature lover, you can even opt for tent attachment for your truck cover for those camping weekends with the family.
Truck bed covers have many uses and offer a great deal of versatility to the average consumer. The biggest problem for most is going to be whether or not to sacrifice the vertical space in order to have the added security in the bed of your truck or to opt for the soft truck bed cover which offers less security but some nifty features of its own.

A few years ago, people would scoff at you if you told them that you were looking for trucks with the best gas mileage. But, as truck sales began to slip downwards, manufacturers started giving due importance to this factor. Today, there has been a dramatic change in the scenario.
The rising costs of gas, has propelled potential truck buyers to go for trucks that can meet their gas mileage demands. Truck makers have now taken firm steps to improve the fuel economy of their makes at all levels.
Usually the ranking of the top five trucks based on gas mileage is founded on a combination factors. The prime parameters are the fuel economy rating given by EPA, the transmission of the vehicle, and its inherent popularity amongst car buyers. The formula for calculation for most gas mileage rankings is a combination of the city mpg rating, which forms 55 percent of criterion, and the highway mpg rating that completes the remaining criteria.
It is really very difficult to bring forth a list that enumerates the top 5 trucks on the basis of fuel efficiency. Not one, not two, but three trucks hold the first rank. This spot is shared by the 2006 Ford Ranger one of the premier trucks that are out in the market today. Ford has made it a point to come out with trucks that offer the best gas mileage. This is why most of their newer models find a place on the best gas mileage list year after year.
However, all the trucks, which feature in the list, have the same engine; the 2006 Ford Ranger is a supremely refined version of its older model that came out in 2005. It has the better off-road capability then other trucks in the rankings and is one of the best alternatives in your search for a truck giving you the best gas mileage.
The completely redesigned 2006 Toyota Tacoma comes next in the list. The Toyota Tacoma is one of the roomier trucks available in the market and its looks are an epitome of sophistication. The only disadvantage of the 2006 Toyota Tacoma is its price tag. It is more expensive then the others.
If you are looking for something on the cheaper side then the 2006 Mazda B-series is the truck that you must go for. A fuel-efficient truck delivers on its promise. It is called in some circles as the bargain pickup truck. Don’t expect styling and comfort but you do get an unashamed practicality with this vehicle.
The Toyota Tundra is the next in line of your picks. It comes with 4.0 liter V6 engine that is geared to give you competitive gas mileage. The truck gives you a mileage of 20 /mpg on the highway and a 16/mpg when you drive in the city.
The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 comes a close fifth in the rankings. It comes with a mild hybrid engine that enables the electric motor to keep the vehicles running when idle so the gas engine can be shut off.

Tonneau truck covers are best suited for trucks that haul cargo that is heavy. These covers provide the ultimate protection as typically, they are made of aluminum and steel that is of superior quality.
Some Tonneau Truck Covers are made of fiberglass, whatever the case all the covers are light in weight and can be used easily. This also makes for easy assembly of the covers and they can set up in a short span of time. Many of the Tonneau covers come with an easy railing snap mechanism, which makes drilling holes into the truck railing redundant.
Tonneau covers come with numerous advantages; and have emerged as one of the most valuable assets for people who own pickup trucks. One of the biggest benefits of using Tonneau covers is that they are configured to provide able security to the valuable cargo that a truck will carry. They are made in a way such that they can lock the cargo, thus preventing many a robbery. They also protect the cargo from the elements and can withstand the toughest of road conditions. Moreover, these covers can be used in any weather condition and you can be assured that the objects underneath these covers are not damaged in any way.
If you are one of those who appreciate a sense of color in your covers, then Tonneau covers cater to this requirement as well. They are available in a range of colors that can blend in with the color of any truck. A potential customer can choose from a wide variety of colors that add that extra something to the overall look of the truck.
Some Tonneau covers are so light that children can easily set them up. As aforementioned this lightweight quality makes them very popular as they can be handled easily. Furthermore, all Tonneau covers are easily foldable and can be tucked away in a small corner of your garage.
Some Tonneau covers are available in the aerodynamic variety. They enable a truck owner to increase mileage of the truck. We have said earlier that they can be put up easily but we forget to mention that all Tonneau covers can be taken down as easily. Once they are down some covers can also be hung well out of the way. Such covers look like a mounted hardware and thus do not stand out.
Some Tonneau covers are retractable in nature. However, bear in mind that a hard cover retracts only in parts. Soft covers retract completely. Aerodynamic retractable covers can retract automatically by the simple pulling of a strap. For those who want a cover for their toolbox, well do not fret. Tonneau toolbox covers are tailor-made to suit this demand as well.

There are many brands of pickup truck bedliners available. They offer many different features, but they all fall into two basic categories: drop-in bedliners and sprayed-on bedliners. Which is the best for your pickup truck and your needs? Taking a look at the pros and cons for each type of truck bedliner might help you choose the best accessory for your needs.
The pros of drop-in bedliners: Drop-in bedliners are easy to install and can be easily removed. Most have thick, rigid bodies that provide pretty good protection against dents in the bed of your truck. Drop-in bedliners are long lasting and easy to clean. They can mount under the bedrail or can be placed over it to add more protection.
Some drop-in bedliners, like the Bedrug, are made from flexible materials. They are gentler than the rigid models, and even people find them comfortable to sit on. The price can range anywhere from $300-$450. Look closely at each type to determine how much protection it offers.
Cons of drop-in bedliners: Some drop-in bedliners can shift around and rigid versions can scuff the paint underneath. Dirt and sand can get behind a drop-in liner, making scratches even more likely if you don’t keep the area clean. Drop-in bedliners can be gouged or broken, but they can take a lot of abuse before the truck bed is affected.
Pros of sprayed-on bedliners: Sprayed-on bedliners stick to your truck’s body panels, so they can not shift around. There are no gaps between the liner and the bed of the truck, so sand and water can not get between and rust or erode your truck bed. They are not as thick as drop-ins, but they do minimize minor denting. The sprays can be applied to any body panel, including interior or floor panels. Sprayed-on liners are easy to clean and available in many colors. You might prefer their sleeker look. Cost can range between $90 for do-it-yourself kits to $450 for professional installation. This also depends on the size truck you have.
Cons of sprayed-on bedliners: Sprayed-on bedliners can’t be removed. They aren’t as thick as drop-ins, so it’s more likely that dropping something sharp or heavy will dent or gouge the liner and the truck bed underneath. Hard-to-remove stains, such as spilled paints, may become a permanent part of your truck bed. A sprayed-on liner should be applied by a professional if you want a truly professional appearance.
Bottom Line is that there are more aftermarket bedliner choices now than there have ever been. You must ask yourself several questions to decide which type is the right one for you. How do you use your truck? Do you expect the bedliner to protect your truck from constant hauling of heavy objects? Do you need only minimal protection for occasional use? Is the bedliner strictly for looks? Study as many online resources as you can find, then visit local bedliner distributors. Ask questions about each bedliner as it pertains to your needs to sort out which is the best for you.

The popular hummer vehicle manufactured by General Motors actually uses the design of the HumVee military vehicle. This vehicle was created to replace the old military jeeps of the US Army because it was getting obsolete in the sense that it cannot be adapted to the new requirements of the US Army today.
The need to traverse rough terrain easily simply cannot be done using the old style jeep. The new HumVee can easily do this using its wide suspension and stronger body. Of course, a bigger and better 4 wheel drive installed also helps a lot in making sure that the HumVee can indeed go anywhere on the face of the planet. Moreover, a deep water fording kit can also make the HumVee capable of fording a body of water up to 1.5 meters deep.
Today, there are more than 15 versions of this vehicle in the US Army alone. The HumVee army vehicle has become the standard cargo carrier, troop carrier, ambulance, automatic weapons platform, missile carrier and surface to air missile platform of the US Army.
It has become so popular that people are familiar with it without even having seen a real one. You can see HumVees in the news, in your pc games and in toy models. HumVee has indeed become the standard vehicle of the US Army.
The HumVee also has its civilian counterpart called Hummer. This vehicle is manufactured by General Motors and has become one of the popular vehicles in the market today.
The hummer is a vehicle derived from the HumVee design but on a smaller scale with components added for both comfort and style.
Today, there are several models of this vehicle being sold as a midsized sport utility truck or a sport utility vehicle. They are generally used by people requiring a rugged and off the road vehicle for their line of work. Some people also prefer them because of the image or the size of the vehicle.
Popular versions of these vehicle are the Hummer 1, which was the original design, the Hummer two, which was a smaller version of Hummer h1 and is considered as an efficient multipurpose vehicle, Hummer h2 sport utility truck which is a pickup truck version of the standard h2 vehicle and the hummer h3, which is even smaller than its two precedents and is being marketed as a mid sized sports utility vehicle.

My working career revolved around commercial trucks and commercial truck tires. I have purchased, studied, tested and sold many truck tire brands, styles and applications including light truck, industrial and earthmover tires. It seems that there was rubber in my veins from the very beginning.
I want to share some ideas and thoughts about locating and purchasing tires on line.
Finding the best deal on truck tires using the internet is becoming easier than ever to accomplish. From finding the correct recommendations based on our personal tire use experience and the very best price on those recommended tires, the internet can provide us choices in our tire purchases.
Of course we all know about the popular online auction websites, such as eBay. Here we will also talk about some new and exciting ways that the information age is making it easier to connect with the people, information and goods that interest us.
Online auctions are a great way to find something in a hurry. Whether you’re looking for a brand new item or a used one, popular auction houses are likely to carry whatever it is that you’re in the market for.
Particularly with brand new and popular items, you’ll notice that there are a number of auction items and unique sellers every day of the week. There’s a very good chance that you’ll be able to find a deal on truck tires that you can be happy with.
Beyond internet auction websites, there are consumer interest groups where you can find out more about which truck tires will last the longest and historically have performed the best. At these same Websites you’ll be able to also learn something about which sellers have the best rates or return policies.
And now for something completely different: Chances are you’ve used internet search engines to search for particular products. The search results are lists of web pages that may or may not actually contain information about the item or items that you’re searching for.
Google is taking another stab at the whole ball of wax by launching Google Base, which allows people to submit any item, piece of information or service to their database. These objects will then turn up in other areas of Google, from Froogle to search results to even Google Earth.
Theoretically, the more ‘tag’ and classification information that users input about their given Google Base item, the more likely it is to turn up in meaningful ways, connected to other people and search results that are similar or looking for similar things. Only time will tell how this experiment works out, but you may soon be finding truck tires via Google Base and saving a buck or two on decreased cost of business overhead that sellers on eBay have to deal with, for example.
Now, have fun on your truck tire adventure!

Nearly all of us have to move house at one time or another and to do so we need to employ a removal company or hire a van or truck and do it ourselves.
Do it yourself house moves are hard work but hiring a vehicle from a truck rental company for a day or two instead of contracting a removal company can save you a lot of cash at a time when you need to be watching your budget very carefully.
Finding a truck rental company is a fairly straightforward matter. Simply type truck rental into a search engine and you will be presented with a large number of truck rental companies both in your area (assuming you live fairly near to a town or city) and nationally.
Essentially all you need is a driving licence and a current bill as proof of your address. The truck rental company will nearly always sort out insurance and any other incidentals. However you will normally be required to meet the fuel costs incurred.
They will be normally be able to offer a variety of models to suit your needs and will generally help you decide what size truck you will need based upon the amount of furniture or equipment you have to transport.
If you have never driven a truck before there is no need to panic as when you arrive at the truck rental company they will take you through all of the vehicles features and show you where the wipers, indicators, lights etc are.
If you are a particularly nervous person then you may wish to ask them if you can drive the vehicle around their yard to get a feel for it before venturing out on to the open road. Alternatively just stick to less busy routes until you feel confident of your abilities.
Driving a truck is very similar to driving a car except you have to be aware of the increased size of the vehicle. Some trucks do not have a rear view window so always make sure you regularly check the side mirrors especially when reversing.
Normally the truck rental company will inspect the vehicle with you and point out any marks and defects before they sign the vehicle over to you. This is to ensure that both parties are aware of any dents, scratches and general faults the vehicle may have so that everyone is clear of the vehicles condition both before and after you have used it.
Many national truck rental companies offer one-way rentals, which may or may not suit your needs.
Make sure you enlist the help of a friend so that when you get where your going you will have somebody to help you with lifting your furniture. Remember you are only renting the truck and not any removal men.

The monster vehicle that used to be available only to the United States Army is now obtainable for civilians through General Motor’s Hummer division. Hummers became the rave of the whole country after the highly popular Desert Storm in Iraq where its military counterpart, the HumVee, was featured endlessly. This popularity triggered worldwide demand and thus, the Hummer edition was created. Nowadays, military and civilians alike can avail themselves of these superb vehicles.
Hummers are available in three types of model: the H1, H2 and H3. H1 Hummers are generally the largest of the three. H3 models are those designed very much like other sports utility vehicles to suit a civilian consumer’s need for aesthetics. The H2 balances rider’s comfort and rough driving to the hilt. There are many more other sub models available under each type but none stands out more than the H2 SUT model.
The H2 SUT model incorporates a pickup and four-door SUV type, thus earning the name SUT. This innovative way of maximizing the benefits of a sports utility vehicle and a pickup truck gained much popularity from Hummer enthusiasts. General Motors have equipped this model with various features that would surely increase the demand for such a vehicle in the years to come.
This baby is powered by a Vortec 6000 V8 engine with 325hp and 4-speed automatic transmission. A variable throttle control with 2 different progressions allows for a precise control over rugged and off-road terrain. The H2 SUT also features a power glass window at the back of the cabin which can be folded down along with the second row seats to allow for a larger cargo area. This virtually means that you can load almost anything on the pickup truck. This model also offers a 4 channel anti lock braking system that helps the driver bring the vehicle to a controlled stop. Its flawless design allows the driver to sit comfortably behind the steering wheel without worrying about the SUT from nosing downward while braking hard.
To top it all off, the interiors of this type of model surely puts any vehicle to shame. Full leather interior with electrically adjustable seats make for a comfortable and enjoyable ride over any type of terrain. Bose speakers with separate audio sources for the second row passengers add to the beauty of this model. The H2 SUT is truly the king of all Hummers on the road today but General Motors has announced that a Pickup truck model may soon be on the market so keep an eye for what may be the best Hummer yet.

We all like the look of a shiny truck grill, but when was the last time you paid any attention to yours? Most of us hardly have time to make sure our grill is looking good, we simply wash our truck and that is about it. We constantly put off taking care of our grill all spring and summer. But not taking care of your grill is really a disservice to your truck. By just taking a few minutes to care for your grill you can keep it shining and looking good for many years to come.
Has it oxidized beyond the point of recognition? Do you want to see your face when you walk in front of your truck? Check out these tips, and before you know it, your grill will be shining like the day you put it together.
Getting Started
First, clean your grill properly. Dust away the surface contaminates or debris. If you can eliminate dirt, grease, and grime, your polishing experience will go much more smoothly. Utilize hot, soapy water for the initial cleaning, and then once you’ve dried the grill, shoot it up with some degreaser. This should break up the nasty buildup you’ve been watching for so long. Then dry it again. Most trucks will have quiet a build up on the grill so this may take a little work.
Getting it Really Clean
Break out the elbow grease for this step, because you’ll need it. It’s the most important step to getting a great shine to our billet grill. In the end, the effort will be worth the results.
First, wet sand your grill with a 320 grit wet sandpaper. Keep the sandpaper and grill wet constantly during the sanding process. You shouldn’t have to apply too much pressure. In fact, avoid too much pressure. Apply just enough to scuff the grill up. Keep your pressure even to produce an even sand. You should leave noticeable scratches in the aluminum. Don’t worry about them, though: they will come out in the next process.
After the 320 grit wet sandpaper, break out the 400 grit paper, and then the 600 grit paper, going through the same process with each one. Throughout this process you will notice the aluminum becoming smoother and shinier. With the higher grit sandpaper your scratches will become less noticeable.
End the sanding step with 1000 grit wet sandpaper. This will get rid of the final noticeable scratches and leave micro scratches. Take your time with this step, and evenly sand and smooth your grill. You are finally working on getting your truck grill looking sharp so now is not the time to cut corners.
After sanding, wash the grill again with hot, soapy water. After it has dried, wipe the grill down with a degreaser once again to rid it of contaminants.
The Finishing Touches
Now you can bring that coveted shine back to your truck grill and make your vehicle the talk of all your friends. Apply your aluminum polish evenly. Then utilize your buffing tool. Keep polishing your grill until the aluminum polish turns black. Once you have polished the entire grill, and it has turned black, wipe it down with a micro fiber towel to remove excess polish.
To get into hard to reach areas, utilize a small flat head screwdriver with the micro towel over it. Don’t poke a hole through the towel though. You may just scratch your grill.
With the excess polished removed, you now have a clean grill. To eliminate the fine scratches, rub the polishing compound on your latex gloved fingers. Do this until the polish turns black.
Congratulations. You now have an awesome looking truck grill that all your friends will be envious of!

There is a lot of debate and controversy about gas and diesel engines. Let’s take a look at some key points of both.
Diesel
Less expensive to run
Not as powerful
Offer more torque
Vehicles powered by diesel more expensive.
Vehicles are more reliable because less complicated internally.
Vehicles are heavier to build.
Vehicles normally last longer.
Generally less expensive.
Will normally last longer in terms of miles.
Engines are generally loud.
Emits black smoke when engine is throttled.
Fuel is dirtier.
Turbo charged diesel will match standard gas engine in terms of power.
Gas
Produce more horsepower
Gas engines are more tunable than diesel.
Can get better power increases.
Less expensive in terms of producing power.
Parts are a lot less expensive.
Engine doesn’t last as long as a diesel because it is less complicated and less heavy internally.
Fuel is usually more expensive.
Fuel burns cleaner.
Diesel is often thought of as smelly and noisy. Many think that the only place for diesel is in a tractor or a semi, there are many other vehicles that are diesel powered however. Each person must determine what their individual needs are. A person has to do their research before making a purchase of any kind, but especially a large purchase such as a vehicle. You do not want to spend thousands of dollars just to realize later that you made the wrong decision, so take your time and do your research to help you make the best decision for you.
One question that isn’t answered here is the emission standards with the black smoke that comes from the diesel engine. The reader is left to wonder if the emission standards are fine or if they are high due to the dirtier burn of diesel. This would be worth investigating. It should also be investigated if noise pollution is a factor with these engines.
When choosing which type of vehicle is what you want you must first determine what your needs are. If what you want is power and tuning options then a gasoline engine is what you are looking for. But if it is power and torque (a force that produces or tends to produce a twisting or turning motion, so in this instance the turning of parts of the motor) that you are looking for then you need a vehicle with a diesel engine. There are certainly plenty of choices out there. Just be sure that you are checking on what your needs are and you will be certain to have the right vehicle for you. Make certain that the vehicle will match your needs and give you the performance necessary to do the job.

Chevrolet automobiles seem to have been around for as long as cars have. This is true in more ways than one. There are still plenty of people driving vintage models that perhaps your grandfather or great grandfather drove so many years ago. These are now considered to be collector’s items by many car enthusiasts. They buy old Chevy trucks and then lovingly restore them to their previous glory. By the time they are finished, you would never know that they had rolled off the manufacturer’s line so many decades ago.
Chevy is famous for many types of vehicles. As the years passed so did the style of the car. However, even with the newer, sleeker models of cars available, there was a longing for the old style, so they brought back a classic model, slightly altered to make it look more modern. Chevy is also famous for their line of trucks. This has been true for decades and is still true today. They’ve come a long way from the models your older relatives used to drive, being sleeker and carrying all of the latest technology.
When your ancestors drove them, they probably weren’t purchased because of their aesthetics. They were probably purchased to do tasks such as hauling things. Many of them were highly regarded as farm and ranch vehicles. This was particularly true in rural areas where the roads were unfinished and rough. The Chevy truck is renowned for its ability to handle tough terrain, even while burdened with bales of hay or vegetables that needed to get to the market to sell. You will often see these trucks in old movies, covered in mud and driven by cattle ranchers. Times have changed, but Chevy Trucks continue to be a prime choice in work vehicle as well as family transportation.
Now instead of seeing them being driven by ranchers, you see soccer moms behind the wheel, with her children in the back seat. Many men purchase them, not for their capability of carrying heavy loads, but because of their cool look.
A favorite Chevy Truck is the Silverado. Not only are these sleek looking vehicles, they retain the speed and durability that Chevy is known to produce. You can get them with all the bells and whistles and may not even want to haul anything in it, because it might spoil the look. Another consumer favorite is the Chevy Colorado. With its two tone detailing and attractive contours, this truck is coveted by many.
There are a variety of Chevy cars and trucks that are suitable for just about any type of travel that you can think of. Whether a classic from old days or one with the classy look of the present, you can

Depending on how old you are, you may remember the good old days, when you pulled into a gas station and someone came outside to help you. There you sat, comfortably behind the wheel, while the gas attendant filled your car with gas, (requested by gallons and not dollars), checked your oil, cleaned your windshield and thanked you for your patronage. You never worried about what type of weather it was, because you didn’t have to get out of the car to pump your gas. The attendant did it for you, so your clothes would stay as fresh as they were when you left the house. You could fill up your tank, hand over a ten dollar bill and actually get change back.
Unfortunately for everyone, those days are over. Now you sit in line behind other harried customers at the gas station and have to get out of the car, go inside to pay for the gas if you don’t want to use your credit card, then come back out and pump the gas yourself. Now people no longer say they want ten gallons of gas. That’s been changed to ten dollars worth of gas, if you please, and you clean your own windshields and check your own oil. Hopefully you won

No matter how you crack it, at some point we all need to haul a large item from one point to another. Whether it’s a homeowner cleaning out a garage and needing to get rid of some debris, or it’s a small business that needs to get equipment to a job site, hauling is a fact of life. The costs of truck purchases for some jobs are just too great, and this is where a good utility trailer can really step in and save the day.
A utility trailer is simply a platform for hauling items. It can be an elaborate add on to a vehicle that includes safety walls and other features, or it can just be a wheeled slab on which to secure a piece of machinery or item for hauling. There are a number of things to consider, however, when adding a trailer onto a vehicle. They include:
* Local laws. Many states require even simple trailers to have their own license plates. They also require lighting systems that include break lights and hazards. This is for the safety of everyone on the road, the hauler included.
* Proper hook up. Trailers are wonderful for homeowners who occasionally need to pick up big items, but don’t own trucks. Easy to add to a car or a small, personal use pickup truck, trailers free their owners up from having to rent a big hauler or hire someone else to do the work for them. They must, however, be hooked up safely. This means the attachment to the towing vehicle must be safe and secure and the lighting system needs to be in place correctly. Doing otherwise might not only result in an accident, but also the loss of the load being hauled.
* Weight considerations. A small, wooden trailer with a wheel system that’s meant to hold only 500 pounds, cannot and should not be loaded up with a ton of debris or lawn equipment. Make sure you know what your trailer is rated for and follow all safety precautions.
Businesses, too, often use trailer systems to help them get their work done. Plumbers, electricians, other construction trades and especially lawn maintenance companies rely on trailers to help them get from jobsite to jobsite with their equipment intact. The benefits of trailers over much larger trucks for hauling equipment and supplies are many. They include:
* Increasing the capacity of a regular work truck without having to purchase more expensive vehicles.
* Ease of access of equipment. Open trailers or even enclosed ones make it much easier for employees to get at the equipment they need when they need it. Ramps on lawn equipment trailers, for example, are ideal for rolling equipment out when it’s needed. Plus, it makes it even easier to put equipment away after a long, hot day. After all, who wants to lift a heavy lawn mower onto a truck?
Utility trailers are oftentimes much more affordable and economical to keep up with than a full-sized truck or even a larger commercial truck. They are perfect for homeowners who need to do occasional hauling, great for businesses and simply irreplaceable to lawn maintenance crews.

No matter who you are, at some point you’re going to need a truck. Whether it’s for moving an entire home or a washer and dryer set, or to start your own hauling business, trucks are how big jobs get done. For many, even though a truck is needed for one-time or continuous use, buying a hauler, pickup or especially a big rig is out of the question. This is where a good rental can come into play.
People who need trucks for personal use need them for a number of reasons. Oftentimes a temporary need doesn’t justify an outright purchase. This is when a rental can really help out. There are companies that specialize in nothing but truck rentals to private, non-commercial drivers. These trucks are not big rigs by any means. They are smaller, lighter trucks such as pick-ups, small moving vans and so on. They are great for moving the contents of a house, or doing a one-time pick up of something too big for your regular car.
When leasing a truck for short-term, personal use, here are some things to consider:
* Shop around for prices and rental terms. There is generally more than one company in an area that rents moving trucks or even pickups.
* Ask about the little things. Don’t sign the contract for a rental until you are very clear about hidden costs, rental requirements and so on. Make sure you understand any extra per mile costs and fuel charges.
* Check into rental insurance. This is almost always a good idea. Anything can happen and it’s not your truck you’re driving. You don’t want to pay the bottom line if someone damages the rental.
* Find out where and when the truck needs to be returned. This is especially important for out-of-town deliveries or one-way trips. Make sure you have good directions to a return location where you’ll be going. If it’s an in-town move, you should be able return the truck to the location you rented it at.
People with proper certification can even rent big rigs for one-time trips or to help establish their own businesses. The investment in a rig can be too much for a single driver starting out, so rentals are often the way drivers go.
Most of the rules for the private rental driver apply here, but in double the importance. Since a commercial driver will be working to start his or her own business, making sure the truck is reliable and the lease understandable and affordable is vital.
Those who need to hire on a rig can also do so. There are plenty of trucking companies that offer not only big rigs, but also drivers for lease. This is great for small companies that need to ship a lot of product, but don’t have their own trucking division.
No matter who you are or what you do, a truck will someday be important. They are one of the best and most efficient means for transporting goods from one point to another. Whether it’s an appliance pick up or a move of an entire house, a homeowner or private resident will almost certainly need a truck at some point. Drivers just starting out need trucks because without them, they have no business. And, businesses must get their products from the production point to the sales point.

Car shipping has become more and more popular in recent years. It used to be that people with cars would pack them up with their belongings and drive to the place they were going. Now when people move, or even go on vacation, they have many other options to consider. The appeal to choose car shipping as opposed to driving is the less expensive price for gas and the advantage of not putting miles on a car. If you transfer across the country because of work, especially for a short time, driving across the country makes the depreciation value of your car greater because of the extra miles you are putting on it. Another way that makes car shipping is more affordable, is the maintenance you save on a car that has less miles. Vacations are another time that people use car shipping. Unbelievably, it can be cheaper to ship a car for a summer vacation than driving, especially with gas prices fluctuating the way they do.
A car shipping company can cut down on the depreciation of your car. The less miles you put on a car, the more it is worth. Selling a used car or even trading it in for a new car makes the value of the car important. The less mileage and damage a car has, the more it is worth when you go to resell or trade in. Spending a small amount of money on car shipping can make your car much more valuable when you trade it in.
If you are only being transferred by your company for a short time because of work and want to use your own car while you are there, car shipping is the way to go. It’s cheaper to use a car shipping company because of the gas money you will save and the wear and tear you will save on your car. In addition, if you are driving in new territory while you are on your way to your new office, you will be unfamiliar with the roads. This is the way that many people have accidents. Having an accident in your car greatly devalues the worth of your car. Especially if you’re moving across country, having accident is frustrating. When you have to deal with people, including the people you’re in the accident with, a car towing company and an out-of-state can mechanic, the situation can get annoying. Having a professional car shipping company is the best way to keep the value of your car and enjoy your move.
Another reason to use a car shipping company is if you are taking an extended vacation. If you go to Palm Springs or Miami Beach and if you are going on vacation for two or three months, you’ll need a car. Many people buy condos in Palm Springs and Miami Beach and want to have their car but they don nott want to drive that far. Most people would rather fly and use a car shipping company because they want to enjoy themselves and not bother with driving. This is especially great for retired people who can use a car shipping company, which can deliver their car a few days later without mileage on it and in perfect condition. A car shipping company is one of the great luxuries you can afford yourself if you want to enjoy your vacation, your move, or your company transfer.

There’s just something about hitting the open road that appeals to many. For some, the allure is so strong they make it their careers. And, with plenty of good reasons beyond the fun, too. Trucking is a fantastic career choice and even a great personal business for just about anyone to get involved in.
Truck drivers will cite a number of reasons as to what drove them to the career choice. These include:
* Pay. Good, reliable truck drivers are hard to find. Inasmuch, trucking companies tend to pay top dollar for their drivers’ time and expertise. This is especially so for drivers who are willing to tackle the long hauls. The money that can be had is incredible and oftentimes more than many college graduates make.
* Benefits. Many big trucking companies offer major benefits to their drivers. Benefits can include medical, dental, life insurance, vision and even retirement. With benefits packages rivaling Fortune 500 companies, drivers get very good compensation for their efforts.
* Bonuses. Depending on the company worked for, the loads carried and the distance traveled, bonuses might fit in the equation as well. These can be attached to delivery time tables, safety records or simply for longevity with a company.
* Freedom. Many companies provide truckers their choice of flexible schedules designed to offer the most choice possible to retain the best drivers. Truckers can work local runs, long distance runs and even just cross region runs. The choices are many.
Getting into trucking isn’t for everyone, however, and it’s not a career that can be jumped into in a single day. The career requires specialized training and licensing. Big rigs are not little cars, they take some expertise and know how to run and operate. They’re serious machines that deserve a healthy level of respect from their drivers to ensure safe and proper operation.
For those wishing to enter the field, there are plenty of schools available to help teach the rules of the road and how best to properly handle rigs. These schools are generally short-term ventures that come with job placement assistance. Once the courses are completed, the drivers will, however, have to pass state licensing tests, as well.
Schools for truck drivers include the basics of the rigs, how to take care of them and, of course, how to drive them. The classes include hands-on training, too, ensuring drivers released from the academies fully understand how to operate the machines that will be in their charge.
For those who decide to go into trucking, the field is a fantastic one that offers lots of choices. Licensed drivers can work for others, start their own businesses, or even perform occasional hauls with rental trucks to pick up extra money when it’s desired. The choices offered by the field are many and the benefits and pay scales are nothing to sneeze at either.
Hitting the open road in a big rig isn’t for everyone, but for those who enjoy the lifestyle and the freedom offered, nothing compares. Getting into the field requires some specialized training, but all in all, the investment in time and money is well worth the rewards. Starting down the road to a trucking career isn’t difficult either.

If you plan to use your truck like a car, desiring quick, quiet acceleration and rarely ever haul a heavy load and don’t plan to it for a long time, you may want a gasoline engine. Gas engines run smoother, fuel is easier to find, and gas engines
start easier in cold weather.
If you plan to use your truck for towing, value good fuel economy and plan to put plenty of miles on it, you may want a diesel. The price to buy a diesel truck is really high, although they can offer you a lot in return.
Below, you’ll find the leading vehicle manufacturers
and what they offer you.
Dodge
The 2500 and 3500 Dodge Ram Heavy Duty trucks are the newest 3/4 and 1 ton trucks on the road. Back in 2002, the Ram didn’t have enough power with the 245 HP 9.5L. Dodge promised more powerful engines for the 2500/3500 platform and they delivered on that promise.
The new base engine is the 5.7L gasoline V-8 that’s not only the most powerful engine of the group at 345 HP but also revives the well known and historical Hemi name.
Ford
Ford helped push the 3/4 ton and 1 ton truck market to where it is today when it introduced it’s international engineered power stroke diesel back in 1994. Before 1994, these diesels were poorly built and no match for the big gasoline engines.
From 1994 to 2002, over 70% of super duty Fords were sold with the optional 7.3L V-8 diesel engine. This engine helped to put Ford among the leaders in diesel trucks, as they had more than they needed to dominate the market.
Chevrolet/GMC
The GM 2500/3500 twins Silverado HD and Sierra HD both come standard with GM’s 6.0L gas engine V-8. This engine is ideal for 3/4 ton trucks where towing isn’t a concern. The upgrades start with the 8.1L gas V-8 that’s based on Chevrolet’s venerable big block engine.
Over the years, diesel trucks have proven to be effecient with mileage, great for towing, and easy on maintenance. Unlike gas engines, diesel engines do not have spark plugs, which means you won’t need to get them tuned up near as much as gasoline engines.
For those who like to haul heavy loads on a frequent basis, diesel is the way to go. You can get quite a few miles per gallon, and diesel trucks are built to go 250,000 miles or more before the engine needs to be rebuit, making them a purchase that is more than worth your money.

Where does the Jeep Gladiator fit into the great history of the Jeep line of vehicles. Jeep from its lowly beginnings has risen to the level of a status vehicle for many in the market today.
The Jeep vehicle name started out in the bare bones military unit. Simply designed to meet the rigors of being in the field.
The original JEEP as it was known back in February of 1941 was so named because the vehicle actually did not have a name. In a test drive of the Willys-Overland scout car took a demonstration ride up the Capital steps. When the reporter asked the driver Irving “Red” Haussman the name of the vehicle he said “It’s a jeep”. The name was then published across the nation in the review article and a new automotive brand was borne.
Willys-Overland inc was awarded the name as it owned the manufacture rights of the first military vehicles. The Jeep went on to nobally serve in World War II. When the soldiers arrived back from the fronts they wanted the Jeeps they had driven during the war.
Willys-Overland was more than willing to produce this grand little car for the common market. The Jeep CJ-2 was the first commercially available vehicle and stayed in basic production through the Jeep CJ-7.
The Jeep CJ-7 was the last military variant of the great Jeep nomenclature. The final Jeep CJ-7 rolled off the production line in the United States in 1987. It was subplanted with the Jeep brand Wrangler or YJ. The YJ for many was designated as the Yuppie Jeep as it had a lower running height and more supple suspension. This Jeep remained in production for 10 years.
In 1997 the YJ was replaced by the current TJ production unit. This unit along with many small tweaks went back to the original Jeeps round headlights. In 2007 the Jeep YJ is slated to be replaced by the Jeep JK model vehicle.
The JK model of vehicles will include three separate variants. The first Jeep variant will be a short wheelbase two door model that will be the direct replacement to the Jeep YJ and hold true to the original form of this model line.
The second model will be a four door variant with a slightly increased wheelbase for those wanting more functionality out of the Jeep. This vehicle should also be better equipped for the less outdoor slanted owner.
The final version will be a pick-up variant Nicknamed the Gladiator. The Jeep Gladiator will feature a slightly extended cab. This will not feature a jump-seat for the kids but allow for storage of small items such as laptops, book-bags, overnight bags, and the like.
The bed of this truck will be 7 foot and perfectly square. This vehicle will be rugged and ready for the trails or a quick camping trip with the buds.
The Jeep has come a long way in the last 60 plus years. This great brand is planning on moving into the future with more memorable vehicles at its back.
Charles love is Jeeps and everything Jeep. As soon as he can get his hands on http://www.jeepgladiator.net he will buy one.
