Marquees are definitely an important aspect in peoples lives today, especially for businesses. But would the world and the planet not be much healthier and environmentally friendly if it was turned into a marquee zone. Lets for a second get rid of all the houses and all of the flats and replace them all with brand new marquees that are equally fit to house all of the current and future technologies. Not only would they look nice and be spacious but they would also be great for the environment.
As a green eco friend, I believe more buildings should be created on the basis of these types of tents. Although they would not look as futuristic as some buildings would, it would carve a way to actually do something good for the earth. There could although be some negative downsides in this sort of plan, such as security risks, there are a few questions to consider such as how the marquees will be secured to stop thieves from gaining access, a basic fact is that you would not want to be leaving your valuables lying around in the view of a thief. But I am sure there could be an easy solution to things like this such as making the marquees a permanent fixture into the ground.
Besides from homes there could be a wide variety of other sectors where a marquee would look great such as a football stadium. A state of the art stadium which can also be designed with the teams in mind, because tents are so easy to customise the team logos would be an effortless add on to any football tent. Another great use would be a cinema, as we all know cinemas use a projector which gleams onto a screen to show the films images, so how about projecting the movie onto the actual marquee itself giving customers a more surround feel.
This being said I don’t believe it will ever happen for the simple fact that it will take to much work, governments are always talking about ways to change the environment for the better, but it just feels as if sometimes they just say it to sound good, as I have never seen them perform any actions. Well whatever they decide I believe a world of marquee building would be great for our environment and great for the people as they would be more in touch with nature itself.

The health and safety experts have been at it again. The age old tradition of children participating in sack races at schools sports day, all in the name of that horrendous past time called fun, have been ruled out on the grounds that it is dangerous.
I suppose it’s because of that awful chaffing of the sack cloth against the children’s knees. Sack cloth injuries may not be life threatening but they are detrimental to the children’s quality of life. After all, we all know what it’s like to try and sit cross legged in a packed assembly hall with a scab on the knee. The first few times, the scab will crack and hurt like hell and that pain is the only thing you can concentrate on.
After a few days of this, it will start to heal in the bent position and then you will be compelled to pick it. Next thing you know, you are so engrossed in this activity that everyone else has stood up for singing except you and you are the only child stood at the front of the hall and made a spectacle of for not listening. Still, all you can hear is the call of the scab.
For the scabbed knee reason alone, it is easy to see why health and safety chiefs want the activity banned. Add to that the danger of the new type of hard grass we now have and there is no telling where it will all end. Special grass is bred for schools and high traffic areas that may resemble normal grass but is pointy, and slicey and downright dangerous. For anyone who has ever fallen on grass and experienced a grass blade up the nostril, they will appreciate the need to ban sack races.
Another of those really dicey school events is biology lessons. For those who just don’t give a fig for health and safety rules, any manner of messy events could occur in a biology room. There is nothing to be gained from learning from mistakes anymore. Any mistake that occurs will see health and safety officials clamping down and stopping the activity before someone gets seriously hurt. Yay, the health and safety officials!
One primary school intended to show their children the miracle of life by hatching out chicks from eggs and watching their development. However, those brilliant people that decide on health and safety issues could spot the potential danger a mile away and are insisting that biological, electrical, child and teacher risk assessments should be carried out before the lessons went ahead. They also could see the possible risk of infection should the children be touching the eggs.
Aren’t we lucky we have these people to watch out for our welfare? Where would we be without them? Where would our children end up? Would we really want well-adjusted children that understand painful things hurt, dirty things need cleaning and that life, in general, is messy and risky and fun? Heaven forbid!
What we really need to do is bring our offspring into line with the healthy and safety rulings that will see them have a long, dull, risk free life by wrapping them in cotton wool, exposing them to nothing more than soft food taken from rounded spoons that have had the edges smoothed off and play them sweet, delicate music to protect their ear drums. Do not allow them to see anything slightly antagonistic for fear they will grow up as criminals - and yes, that means no Tom and Jerry cartoons. We have a duty to protect the next generation!
Parenting expert Catherine Harvey looks at the new health and safety rules to protect our children while at school.

When we consign our children to public schools, we feel satisfied that they are receiving ‘quality education’. But, are we really getting our money are worth? More importantly, are the children gaining anything from this kind of a learning procedure?
Socialization is hailed as one of the greatest advantage of schools. This is the place where the child picks up the rudiments of social skills that help him survive. But in truth, a regular school-going child can interact only with his peers. He may bully younger children or fear older ones. He does not know how to behave with an adult. This is because in the school environment he interacts only with his peers. A homeschooling environment brings in a more natural social environment.
A regular school going child cannot read literature. He cannot keep silent or think in depth about any one thing. The artificial busyness imposed upon him by the school disallows quiet contemplation. Rowdy and destructive behaviour, as seen among peers, is more noticeable in school-goers.
There is little long-standing knowledge among regular school goers because most things are learnt for the exam. There is no correlation of facts with life. The child may know a lot, but understands very little. This is where the homeschoolers beat the regular school goers. Ultimately, homeschoolers emerge more adept at facing the outside world.
Financing homeschooling
When people talk about teaching their children from home in the absence of any definite or structured curriculum, it is perhaps natural to think that homeschooling is cheap. But this is far from the truth. Although homeschooling does not stick to any particular text, this is perhaps more of a bane than a boon, when it comes to finance.
When you need to make sure that your children receives state-of-the-art education so that they can compete with regular school goers, expenses will naturally mount. The actual cost of educating a child at home is surprisingly high. Up-to-date textbooks, course materials, a library, computing equipment, lighting, specially designed furniture all cost money. In this case, the cost may be slightly lesser when it comes to homeschooling the second child. Add to this any additional tuition cost for tutors who come to teach subjects that cannot be handled by parents, like higher-level math or science. The total cost can be a bit mind boggling.
If you take another important factor into consideration, homeschooling costs may effective triple. The need for having one of the parents tied to the house and fully dedicated to providing education deprives the family of a second earning member. The average homeschooling teacher is usually a lady with a college degree. This means that she can easily bring home a pay of $35,000 or more. It is also interesting to note that most families that have more than 2 children do not opt for homeschooling at all.
But, there are those who have been successful in carrying out homeschooling at low rates. This is dependent on the size of the family, the support group, and the type of materials used and the availability of the material. When successive children can reuse the materials, cost goes down. Much of the course material can be got from vendors of homeschooling materials. A membership in a public library, theatre, concerts, ballets and other cultural events also help in cutting costs. Sometimes, it is even possible to barter expertise. For instance, the mother of an 8-year old gives dancing classes, and her daughter receives drawing classes for free. Support groups allow you to divide the cost of field trips, science projects and fairs.
Whatever the cost, advocates of homeschooling say that the benefits far outweigh these considerations. When you are able to decide what knowledge your child receives and when he or she should be taught and to what extent, it gives you a lot of freedom and a lot of power. Both the children as well as the parents benefit from this mutually enriching experience.

Parents have always had play groups for their children, although they have not always called them that. The basic idea is to get infants, toddlers, and young children into groups of their peers. Children who are brought to a play group will enjoy the little extras the parents do to make it fun. One way to do this might be to buy custom T shirts for the children.
When you are choosing shirts for a play group, keep the ages of the children in mind. You may want to use an all-in-one shirt for infants. The basic shirt might be a simple, soft T shirt for a toddler. Older preschool children might like a jersey-style T shirt. If you have a mixed group, it might be best to stick to a straight T shirt that would work for everyone.
Buy custom T shirts that you can design to suit your children. If they all like to go to the playground, a park scene might be nice for the front of their shirts. For children who like animals, fluffy cats and furry dogs make ideal pictures. Some children like to play make-believe. Images for them could be of anything from fairy princesses to firefighters. For infants, toys provide a good theme.
It can get confusing at a park when all the little children are running around playing on all the playground equipment. As a parent, you will try to keep up with every one. However, it helps if the parents all work together. To make it simpler, you can buy custom T shirts with unusual colors and designs. That way your play group will stand out of the crowd. There will be no guessing as to whether a child is a part of your group or not. You will know.
Parents need to get together and decide on the design they want for their shirts. If they prefer not to do it by committee, they can choose someone who they all trust to design and order the custom T shirts for them. That parent can get a quote from the T shirt company and present it to the other parents so that they can all have a say in the matter. Chances are good that the adults will be happy to have the work done for them. They will agree to the quote and the design unless they are completely unacceptable.
One other thing to think about when you are buying custom T shirts for your youngsters is that little children sometimes wear out T shirts or stain them beyond all recognition very quickly. If does not hurt to order more than one so that the group will all have the same shirts every time they get together.
In the end, children will associate their play shirts with happiness if the play times go well. Buying the shirt cannot guaranty a good time, but it can help parents to maintain a calm and fun atmosphere where cheerfulness is more likely.

Your friends and family members might enjoy getting funny T shirts for birthday and holiday presents. There is a great selection of humorous shirts on the Internet or in stores. There are a few things you need to think about when you select comical shirts for your loved ones.
1. Consider what kind of humor your loved one likes. One friend might like dark humor with a touch of cynicism. Another might like whimsical characters and sayings about the ironies of life. You might know someone who likes to focus on political satire. Whatever the person finds funny, you will probably find that type of humor on a shirt.
2. Think about the person’s pet peeves. People like to make fun of things they are unhappy about. If your family member is annoyed because she has to pay too much in taxes, she might enjoy a funny T shirt that makes light of the taxation system. For a person that is irritated by people who are obsessed with physical fitness, there are T shirts that make fun of health fanatics.
3. Reflect on the gift recipient’s ability to take a joke. If that person is overly sensitive or easily offended, it will have a bearing on the kind of funny T shirts you will buy for him or her. Look at the choices and imagine how that person will feel upon looking at the shirt. Decide if you can see the person wearing the shirt proudly.
4. Understand how well your friend or family member responds to adult humor. You would not want to give a funny T shirt about explicit subjects to someone who wants to keep the humor G rated. Many people will thoroughly enjoy a T shirt that caters to their naughty side. Just make sure before you give such a T shirt that the person has the capacity to find amusement in those words and images.
5. Take the time to learn about your loved one’s political leanings. People who support one political candidate might like a shirt making fun of the opposing candidate. Those who are affiliated with liberal politics might want to poke fun at conservatives. Finding the right political message will allow you to buy them a shirt that is right up their alley.
6. Find out about causes your friend supports. Someone who concentrates on efforts to reduce greenhouse gases or save endangered species can find wittiness in funny T shirts that make a point about nature. On the other hand, if your friend supports a cause, it might not be a good idea to choose a shirt that makes fun of the ideas they hold dear.
Perhaps the most important thing you can do once you have selected your gift is to choose an appropriate time to offer it. Some occasions are just too serious for anyone to appreciate the jokes on funny T shirts. If you choose the right shirt and the best time to give it, your loved one will always be pleased.

Anybody who has ever owned a printer would have been heard bemoaning the price of an ink cartridge - and rightly so. A printer is a complete waste of space unless you are going to keep up with its lifeline of an ink supply so you have no choice but to keep forking out for it. But what do you get?
A tiny plastic box with 42ml of ink is what you will get for this extortionate price. And when your computer is telling you, you have run out of ink, you will take out the cartridge, shake it, find there is still some in there and be infuriated that it won’t work for your last sheet of printing before you go out and replace it.
So why, I ask, are these things so expensive? Is there a world shortage of ink? Is there a world shortage of the skills needed to refill these little plastic boxes? Not if the shops are to be believed. In most streets in most towns you will find some corner shop advertising ink cartridges, ink cartridge refills and the like. They all declare discounted prices only to get you inside and find that yours is the one rare ink cartridge that costs four times the price of all the others.
In recent research carried out into the price of certain fluids, ink that goes into ink cartridges was found to be one of the most costly fluids on the planet. The researchers purchased a 42ml ink cartridge for $30 which works out to be $0.71 per ml. However, at $200 for 500ml of blood purchased from the Red Cross, this fluid is only $0.40 per ml. How can this be so and would it pay us all to start writing in blood. After all, it would be cheaper.
So, what of those who have a high blood/alcohol ratio? Would this be worth more or less? The price of vodka currently works out at roughly $0.04 per ml so with more of that in your blood, unfortunately you are going to be worth a great deal less than an ink cartridge. Red Bull works out roughly the same price per ml as vodka so you’re no better off diluting the stuff.
At the time of going to press, although this could well have changed by now, the price of a barrel of crude oil was actually cheaper than ink, blood and vodka and red bull. So, thank goodness our cars don’t run on ink and what a shame we can’t use oil or blood in our ink cartridges. Penicillin is less than $0.10 per ml so being ill is cheaper to fix than an ink deficient ink cartridge.
Is it just me or is there something seriously wrong with these equations? Not the facts themselves but the pure realisation that a commodity that has been around since time began is now so expensive that it is worth more than the very fluid that sustains human life. Surely there is no need to keep prices where they are. Maybe we should do a protest just as they do with their attempts to bring down oil prices.
Can you envision the day all the offices come out on strike over the price of ink cartridges? Suited and booted workers will be out, parading around the front of office blocks everywhere with banners proclaiming about the unfair cost of an ink cartridge and how it is detrimental to our working lives. It just goes to show that people only really take notice of the sensationalist news reports when they complain about the price of one everyday product and not another.
Expert buyer Catherine Harvey looks at the price of refilling an ink cartridge and how blood is actually cheaper.

There is a lot of freedom in designing your own custom T shirts. Online shopping has made the process simple. You can express your thoughts and artistic ideas by putting them on a shirt for all to see. However, there are 7 things it is best to avoid putting on your T shirts.
1. Anything that infringes on a copyright. You might think it would be cool to use a logo from a product you like or a drawing you found online. You have to be doubly sure that that image is not owned by someone else before you use it. People spend time and money coming up with designs for their own purposes, and they do not always want to share them. You might be able to use copyrighted material, but only if you have permission from the owner.
2. Anything that promotes bigotry. It is not funny to put down others because of their race or ethnic group. It might seem that the days when anyone would think of putting racist slogans on a T shirt should be over. However, you need to think about your images and text before you send them to the printer. What may seem harmless to you might not seem so tame to anyone referred to in the caption.
3. T shirts with nudity, obscenity, or violence. Chances are you will be wearing your custom T shirts in the general public. Images or text that would get an R rating at the box office is offensive to most people who will see you wearing your shirt. It is sometimes better to choose a more appropriate subject.
4. An image or words that promote hate. Just because you have had a bad breakup or do not get along with your teacher, you have no right to advertise your hatred of that person. Wearing a shirt that encourages others to feel negatively about the object of your hateful feelings will not only cause problems for that person, but for you as well.
5. A design that encourages criminal activity. You cannot go around telling people how to make bombs or carry out a robbery. Most online makers of custom T shirts will not go along with printing shirts that tell details of how to commit crimes. Some will go so far as refusing to print shirts that even foster criminal attitudes.
6. Pictures without the permission of the subject. If you take a picture of your mother and put it on a T shirt, you will probably be okay. Your mother will be happy to give her consent to be put on your custom T shirts. However, if you invade someone’s privacy and take a picture when they are not aware of you, do not expect full use of the image. They can take legal action if you use their image on a shirt.
When you are doing your online shopping for custom T shirts, make sure you choose designs that will be suitable for public wear. It is not a good idea to use images you do not own. It is also not a good choice to ask your online store to make a shirt that is offensive.

You may be looking forward to graduating in the future or fondly remembering graduating in the past. In either case, you might want to have something to share with your classmates. You can order custom T-shirts online for the people who have shared your educational experience.
A group of young people may want to get together and design a shirt for the class to which they belong. Teens like to order shirts far in advance of their actual graduation year. That date is so special to them that they look forward to it all through High School. A freshman class might design a shirt with their graduation year on it, even though that year is four years in the future.
Those who are graduating High School or college can also order custom T-shirts to celebrate the year of their academic achievement. As they take their mid-term exams and study for their finals, they can wear the shirts that are made with their commencement day in mind. If they know the date, they might put that on the shirt along with the year.
Even if you are going to a trade school or business college, ordering custom T-shirts is a great way to remind yourself that your goals are in sight. The graduation day is important no matter what you are studying. Once you all come to an agreement on what T shirt company to use, you can begin to design the shirt. Do not forget to include the type of school you are going to, as well as the graduation date.
For those who have not seen their classmates in many years, a way to get reacquainted is to notify everyone that a T shirt is being made up for the class. If you use a shirt company that offers the service, you can have the design made up and emailed to each class member. They may be able to order the shirts for themselves.
When the day of a class reunion arrives, people who have planned in advance can wear their custom T-shirts to the party. If some extra shirts have been made up, others can buy theirs then. This means that someone will have to put some money into the shirts so that they can be on hand for those who want them. However, many graduating classes have a fund of money that can be used for such expenses.
When you order your shirts online, be sure that the company will have them ready well ahead of your reunion date. If you are just graduating, you will want to make sure you get to wear the shirts for a good part of your senior year. It is important to find a company that will keep to their promises and deliver your custom T-shirts on time. It is just as important to order plenty of shirts so that every graduate can have one to wear.

The car hire industry can trace its history almost back to the introduction of the motorcar. Car hire has been a service available to travellers now for almost one hundred years. The first instance of a company renting cars was in America; its founder was called Joe Sanders who in 1916 rented Model T Fords to travelling salesmen. The first instance of car hire is reputed to be a salesman who rented a car to take a local girl out for a date. This first use is interesting in that car hire companies since their inception have been involved in improving people’s leisure time.
In these early years many people did not own a car; companies at the time exploited this and highlighted the inadequacies of public transport in their literature. Proposing that renting was a way to avoid the stresses of public transport while being more convenient was quickly stated in marketing material. Having the means to travel in your own time is hard to underestimate, combined with freedom of travel it is a worthwhile travel solution. While early companies were few and far between, today a car hire desk is never far away, making renting a viable means of getting around.
In the modern era most airports have provisions for car rental, usually placed directly outside the arrivals lounge so passengers are presented with services almost as soon as they land. This is important as travellers rarely want to spend hours searching for rental services after landing, most want to be on their way as quickly as possible. Thankfully today, modern services allow for this speed of transfer making travel that much easier.
While car hire companies have always been in competition with public transportation, today, in the UK at least this is becoming less of an issue. Currently public transport and especially the railways are becoming extremely expensive for travellers. For groups of people travelling renting is even more appealing as the money that can be saved can be considerable. Rail tickets for a long journey can reach into the hundreds, when you factor in four separate tickets this price is rather large. In comparison a hire car can cost considerably less, especially if the charges are shared by the four travellers.
Rental companies do much of their business with corporate customers. For those who travel a lot on business the ease that having a hire car can bring makes a great deal of difference to the time spent travelling and the comfort of that travel. Corporations can also usually build a good working relationship with rental companies allowing them to receive preferential rates and specialist services.
Unlike the first rental company that used its fleet to give customers the novelty of driving a car, in modern times most people already own one. This has meant that companies have had to pursue other strategies when courting business. One of the ways in which this has been done has been by combining car hire with holiday packages. The creation of the ‘fly and drive’ holiday has been an especially important masterstroke in attracting customers. Larger companies are also able to have outlets in many different countries meaning that tourists have a name they recognise and trust wherever they are in the world.
With such a rich history it is hard to contemplate where the car hire industry is going. Undoubtedly it will continue to pursue business in the tourist industry and conjunction with airports although a move towards securing fleets has also been evident. The improvements in GPS tracking technology and digital fingerprinting have meant that security has become increasingly important. Whatever happens, the industry will continue to provide a travel solution for many people worldwide.
Industry expert Thomas Pretty looks into the development of the car hire industry and how it is evolving.

This year to celebrate Abraham Lincoln’s Birthday, send out a few free e-cards to friends and family. Free e-cards are easy to use, quick to personalize and send, and most importantly they are free.
From his humble beginnings in a log cabin situated in rural Kentucky, to his term as the sixteenth President of the United States and the illustrious legacy he left behind, Abraham Lincoln is no slight figure in the pages of American history.
Born in 1809 to Thomas and Nancy Hanks Lincoln, Abraham Lincoln developed a particular fondness for reading in spite of his lack of formal education and his father’s wishes that he become a farmer like himself.
It was after moving to New Salem, Illinois in the early 1830’s that Lincoln ran, first unsuccessfully, then with better results, for the state legislature, where he served four consecutive terms. On his own time, Lincoln began to study, becoming a certified lawyer in 1836. In 1846, Lincoln won his campaign for a seat in the House of Representatives.
He made an ill-fated bid for the Senate against Stephen Douglas in 1856, which put him in the national spotlight for the first time as he traveled the country making memorable speeches such as the House Divided Speech and matching wits with his opponent in a series of debates.
He was the dark horse winner of the 1860 presidential race, and during his presidency, saw internal strife including the secession of eleven Southern states, delivered the Emancipation Proclamation, administered the country during the Civil War, and witnessed the surrender of the Confederate Army.
On April 14, 1865, President Abraham Lincoln, who had been recently reelected, was fatally shot while watching a play at Ford’s Theatre.
One of the alleged reasons for his assassination was a speech Lincoln had made to a group gathered outside of the White House, in which he suggested his support of African American suffrage.
In fact, it is Abraham Lincoln’s controversial and public dedication to the anti-slavery sentiment that was only beginning to take hold at the time of his political career, that is said to have held together the fabric of the Union in the face of great division over that, and other issues vital to the country’s survival.
First and foremost, Lincoln believed in the Union, and was not willing to compromise neither its integrity, nor that of the African people so violated by slavery, based on the economic preferences of the South.
According to many historians, it is largely thanks to his able leadership that the United States did not disintegrate as a result of the Civil War and the ideological and other domestic conflicts of that time period. In honor of his birthday, read up on Abraham Lincoln, his life and presidency, not to mention his eloquence, dignity, and devotion to his country and ideals.
Abraham Lincoln was the first of four U.S. Presidents to have been assassinated. The others were James A. Garfield, William McKinley, and John F. Kennedy.
I like to send free e-cards to all friends and family for all holidays and birthdays, it shows my appreciation, and it costs me nothing.

Popcorn day is celebrated by loads of American households, so this year to make it that bit more special, send out some free e-cards to your friends and family alike.
The best thing about free e-cards, is obviously that they are totally free to personalize and send. But not only this, you can send them anywhere you want, and there will never be extra costs incurred. As long as you and your recipient are connected to the internet you are set to go, this means you can send an e-card from England to America totally for free.
Though popcorn may seem like a contemporary phenomenon, archaeologists have found remains of pottery proved to be ancient popcorn poppers in the region of the Andes once inhabited by pre-Inca civilizations.
Other studies have led to the conclusions that corn, or maize as the Native Americans knew it, was being cultivated by the Maya, Aztec, and Inca tribes in Central America more than five thousand years ago and in Ontario, Canada before 1200 C.E.
The oldest corn remnant discovered so far was a pollen fossil dating back approximately 80,000 years. When Christopher Columbus arrived in the Americas, he was exposed to corn by the Native Americans, and introduced it to Spain.
Its popularity there quickly spread throughout Europe and the rest of the world. So, considering the centuries that this versatile food has existed, it’s no wonder that Americans reportedly eat more than 1 billion pounds of popcorn a year!
Celebrate National Popcorn Day by making some popcorn. Try to do it the old-fashioned way, with an air-popper or a pot on the stove instead of the microwave variety. If you’ve never done this before, you may find a new taste you love, or discover how much you appreciate the convenience of modern technology!
Add some flavor to your day and your snack by sprinkling some seasoning or finely grated cheese directly on the warm popcorn or by mixing it in with the melted butter as a delicious topping.
Or be nice to your sweet tooth and make some caramel corn. All of these activities can and should be shared with friends and loved ones of all ages. And for all you health-conscious adults, this whole grain maize snack is one you can definitely live with loving!
The majority of the world’s popcorn is grown in these midwestern states of the United States: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, and Ohio.
The astounding 1 billion pounds of popcorn a year breaks down to 63 quarts per each American man, woman, and child. About 70 percent of this popcorn is eaten at home.
Millions of people send free e-cards annually, I to send hundreds. Free e-cards are also very eco friendly as no trees ever need to be felled. Free e-cards come in so many different categories and genres, so you can celebrate a birthday, or mourn a death.
They make it so easy to communicate with friends around the world, and as e-cards take over the card market, it will start to become uncommon not to be receiving at least one or two a year.

Free e-cards have changed the way we now thank, remind, congratulate, and sow our condolences to people. This year you too could celebrate thank you day by sending a free e-card, to friends and family alike. Free e-cards are rapidly growing in popularity, and it is now becoming uncommon not to receive at least one or two a year.
There are a few main reasons why free e-cards have become so popular, the main one being that they are totally free, no matter how you personalize your free e-card or how far you have to send it, it will always be free. So you could send your e-card across the world for no extra cost.
Gratitude is one of our most fundamental human emotions. Think back over this past week and try to count just how many times you’ve thanked someone for something they’ve done for you, a compliment, gift, support, the list goes on and on.
However, in spite of how often you may hear someone, or yourself, say thank you, showing appreciation for certain things or people in your life is sometimes difficult and not done often enough.
It may only provide a slight reassurance to the people in your life but even the smallest tokens of appreciation, such as a verbal thank you, are important in letting someone know how much what they do affects and touches you.
International Thank You Day is the ideal opportunity to recognize and demonstrate the extent of your gratefulness to the people who make your days what they are.
The promoters of this holiday would like everyone to participate by sharing their deepest thanks with the people who deserve them. Each year, January 11th is marked as International Thank You Day to remind and make it easier for you to do just that!
Whether it’s saying thanks, sending a thank you note, or digging deep within you for the strength to let someone know how much their constant support and help in the most dire of life’s circumstances means to you, it is crucial to actually do so instead of expecting that your gratitude can be telepathically transmitted.
How you put your grateful feelings into words is a matter of choice.
Send a thank you card, better yet, draw and personally deliver a card, flowers, or a basket of fruit, pastries, and muffins.
Dedicate a part of your day to remembering and making certain to address the people you owe your thanks. If you’d like to commemorate this day more officially, you can even organize a thankfulness-themed party for your office, classroom, or family, friends, and neighbors, during which you can publicly honor everyone who has contributed to your happiness and success.
The date January 11th was chosen because the promoters believe that the numerical combination 1/11 forces people to consider themselves and the people most important to them more thoroughly than other dates.
Millions of people send free e-cards each year, I love to send them. All my friends and family now receive free e-cards for their birthdays, and I can also claim that I am doing my bit for the environment, as no trees need be felled to make the cards.

This year to celebrate rock ‘n’ roll day, send out a few free e-cards to those friends who like this sort of music. Free e-cards are quickly taking over the card market.
Performer Alan Freed coined the term rock ‘n’ roll at an event he promoted as the Rock ‘N’ Roll Jubilee in 1954. Rock ‘n’ roll is characterized by a great variety of musicians and performers, each of whom focus on different, often contradictory aspects of music, but who nonetheless are classified within this versatile category.
The people who epitomize rock ‘n’ roll range from crooners of the country and folk traditions along the lines of Elvis Presley and Buddy Holly, innovators like Chuck Berry and Smokey Robinson, lyrical poets such as Bob Dylan and Roger Waters, to guitar legends like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Robert Plant.
The phenomenon, though it is difficult to define precisely, has been attributed to the enormous impact of jazz and blues on the growth of sound and the perception of music by the population of the United States. African American blues musicians pioneered the movement toward sound amplified by electronics and its integration into acoustic music.
Though those times may seem remote, there was a time when rock ‘n’ roll was not only deemed controversial, but downright obscene in certain circles and situations for that very reason. Revolutionary strides have been made in music before and since the birth of rock ‘n’ roll, but as Danny Rapp definitively chants with the Juniors, rock ‘n’ roll is here to stay.
Been a long time since you’ve revisited the Golden Age of Rock ‘n’ Roll? Pop into a record shop and browse the selections from the classic rock category in honor of this special day.
Set the dial to your local classic rock radio station and stay tuned today and every day to celebrate this broad and prolific musical genre, and the thousands of artists and performers who have contributed to its evolution and growth. Perhaps you used to dream of being a rock star?
Return to those ambitious and wild times by picking up a guitar, drum sticks, microphone or what have you and show off your talents for your friends and loved ones. To make this even more fun, dress up according to what you would have deemed appropriate when being a rock star was most important.
If you were part of a struggling band that called it quits, today could be the day to get together again, play some music, and dream about scheduling a reunion tour. Rock ‘n’ Roll day is the perfect occasion to let your hair down and groove to some of your all-time favorite tunes.
Interesting facts in the history of music relevant to the birth of rock ‘n’ roll:
In 1709, Bartolommeo Cristofori invented the piano, which is a system of hammers set to strike chords to produce sound as opposed to being plucked by hand.
Thomas Edison developed the phonograph in 1877. This is the first instrument to be invented that played back recorded sounds: the original amplifier.
When in 1929, Les Paul discovers that by placing the stylus (needle from a record player) underneath the strings of an acoustic guitar created a sound that can be amplified by transmitting it through a phonograph, the last element of rock ‘n’ roll, the electric guitar, fell into place.
Millions of free e-cards are sent out annually. Free e-cards are quick and easy to use, and most importantly are free.

When giving a baby gift, one doesn’t just want to be unique, but also practical. What can be more practical than food?
But you want a personal touch to it, so - make it yourself! Sure, you can probably get better quality if you buy it, especially if you never made it before, but it will lack that personal touch.
It may seem like a tacky idea but all you have to do is place the food used jar and decorate it nicely with a ribbon and/or some nice wrapping - viola! Nice looking gift!
You can print out the recipe along with the card you attach to the gift.

T. Boone Pickens is a legendary Oil man and investor who reached the billionaire stage long ago. Pickens knows a thing or two about oil drilling and America’s dependence upon foreign oil.
In a recent interview with CNN’s Lou Dobbs, Pickens had this to say about the sad state of America’s current energy position.
“The problem is unbelievable for this country. We are in a crisis mode and let me give it to you right quick. We’re spending $700 billion a year on foreign oil, $700 billion. We’re going to break the country in less than 10 years and we’re now importing almost 70 percent of all the oil we use.
1991 it was 42 percent. And I said then, we’re going to be 60 percent at the end of the century. We were at 60 percent — I was told I was a fool. I didn’t know what I was talking about. I can tell you now, you’re almost 70 and you’re going to be importing in 10 years from now. So we’ve got to do something about it and we can, Lou. The solution for it is natural gas. Natural gas can replace foreign oil.
There are 8 million vehicles around the world on natural gas and only 142,000 of them are in the United States. Can you believe, I mean, with our leadership, did not take us in the right direction. But not trying to place blame, it’s really our problem. Yours, mine, and the rest of the people in America.”
T. Boone Picken’s reference to poor leadership in the US is critical to understanding how the US has and still is falling behind the rest of the developed and developing world in energy management, infrastructure, technology, health care, and other issues that are vital to the progress of a nation.
It seems like our leaders have spent most of their time developing a military machine rather than attending to the needs of American citizens at home. American military adventurism is not the way to build a strong economy as resources are misallocated to the military sector. For example, the US Department of Defense is by far the largest consumer of gasoline and diesel fuel of any single sector in the US economy.
T. Boone Pickens is one of a very few American business leaders who are speaking out on the energy issue. And as for American politicians they are still in the self congratulatory mode of telling everyone how America leads the world in every category of technology and innovation. That may have been true ten years ago but no longer. When you are sending 700 billion Dollars a year overseas each year bad things are sure to happen to you. As T. Boone Pickens knows living in the past is not going to solve America’s energy problems.
America desperately needs leadership who will first of all admit that a serious problem exists and who will take massive steps to mobilize and organize the resources needed to reduce if not eliminate the dependency of America upon foreign oil.

You stand in line at your textbook sell back, you hand over your textbook, apparently the equivalent of solid silver just a few months ago. And then the clerk hands you a couple of twenties and says next. Read here why I stopped going to the textbook sell back on campus and made my own arrangements to sell my textbooks, and how you can get reference books for less.
I wrote this article to convince you that any textbook sell back will benefit you more than keeping those books. And I offer a strategy to build a great reference library for less.
My $100 Wake Up Call: A Business Law Textbook
As an undergrad engineering student, I kept nearly every textbook, sell back wasn’t on my schedule. I wanted a reference library, I said. Then, I went back to school for an MBA. I had to take business law, and the book was more than $125. I was stunned.
I found the book at about $100 online and bought it, took my class and seethed. This was my 6th MBA class - I as in an evening program - and I had kept all the books from my previous classes. I was going to build a textbook reference library again, I thought.
Then, I was walking through a thrift store. Not a used bookstore mind you, just a secondhand store. You know, donate, and a church or other charity runs it to help the less fortunate.
And there on the shelf was my book, one edition old - I bought the 8th edition, they had the 7th - for $3.
Yeah, $3. And thrift stores are tax exempt in my area.
I immediately sold every textbook I had used for my MBA classes, and several of my other books that had any value. I consider it one of my best business decisions
Why clean off your shelf?
Textbook sell back shows the situation perfectly. You pay hard earned money for a new or used textbook, take the class, then try to sell it back. The school only has funds to buy back the number of used textbooks they need, frequently leaving you holding yours to keep. You end up with a valuable doorstop, or a nice book end about physics. An expensive book you don’t need.
My library was the same in a way. I had valuable textbooks wasting away on my shelves. Or, I could do my own textbook sell back and then buy older versions at a fraction of the price to fill my library. Which is what I do now.
For instance, the $3 seventh edition textbook I mentioned earlier? It’s on my shelf as I write this. I also bought a strategic management textbook, same authors, 1 edition back, maybe one or two missing chapters from the one I used in class (I can’t remember now if I read those chapters or not) also for a whopping $3. It makes me smile to tell you this :o) and I hope you get the message.
Textbook Sell Back and Your College Frig
Books you buy for school have a limited shelf life, like cottage cheese, Lettuce and sour cream. Their value holds until the next edition comes out. But just like a potato you have to skin, any current edition textbook, almost no matter the condition, has value. Whether it has a missing cover, excessive highlighting, notes written in the margin, or even dog ears (the worst), you can have your own textbook sell back if the new edition has not hit the shelves yet.
High prices on textbooks are for a good cause: trying to bring you the best information for your money and give you a great education. Professors use textbooks because then they don’t have to come up with the material to teach themselves, and the books also help meet accreditation requirements to cover all the important stuff in a certain topic.
But it can cost you hundreds of dollars. So get the books you need, and then have your own little textbook sell back every term. Sell some online or to your friends about to take that class.
And if you need a reference book on a subject you have in school, you might want to go check out a secondhand store. You’ll be surprised how far $5 will go.
Want more techniques?
During two degrees with little money in college, I learned how to avoid buying textbooks whenever possible. Visit the Beat-Tuition Cheap Textbook Hub for dozens of ideas like these for keeping your textbooks cheap.

Easy ones first: it goes without saying that to receive the Michigan Promise Award you must be a resident of Michigan and be a high school graduate or hold a GED.
Now the details. Make sure you take the Michigan Merit Exam starting in grade 11 in high school. Why your junior year? If you score below a Level 2 in any of the required areas, you can retake the exam during grade 12 and make up the difference. This gives you better odds (by taking the exam on two different occasions) to meet the least test score needed to be eligible for the award. Also, check to make sure that you have not received a merit award under the Merit Award Act. If you have, you are not eligible for consideration for the Michigan Promise Award.
Upon receipt of the scholarship, students have two years to enroll in a postsecondary establishment that is approved by the State of Michigan. Please note, all military academies (USMA, USAFA, USNA, USCGA) are approved organizations even if they are not specifically called out. If you decide to enroll in the Armed Forces or the Peace Corps, you can request an additional two years to enroll in your choice of postsecondary institutions.
Once enrolled, you have four years to finish the requirements for your postsecondary institution. If you’re enrolled in a bachelor’s degree track, you need only finish 50% of the requirements. All other certificate, degree, or vocational programs must be finished within 4 years.
While attending your program of choice you must maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA. In the event that your program does not grade on a normal scale, evidence of completion is still required and can be worked out with the school and the State of Michigan on a situational basis.
Payment of the award is broken down by timeline as seen below:
Students may receive as much as half of the Michigan Promise Award in two installments of $1000 each in the first two years of postsecondary education. To receive the final payment of $2000, students must fill out the “Michigan Promise Scholarship Application for Final Payment” form and submit it to the MSA Office. This can be done via the internet. All requirements for the scholarship must be completed prior to receiving the final payout (i.e. complete your program, or 50% completion in the event that you are enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program).
Finally, note that the real name of the program is the Michigan Promise Scholarship, not the Michigan Promise Award. The terms are used somewhat interchangeably even though the ‘award’ portion is a carry-over from the Michigan Merit Award. They are in fact one in the same, and there is not a separate scholarship for each.

If you want a TV, it is easily found in your local area. In fact many stores will have TV’s. However, finding telescope for sale in your area can be a tricky subject. Not everyone has a telescope, and not that many people are interested in astronomy like us. So, how do you find telescope for sale in your area?
Though it may seem impossible to find a telescope store in your area, there are still possibilities. The first point to consider is whether you want new telescopes for sale or used telescopes for sale. There are benefits and negatives to both.
Buying a new telescope has many benefits. You get a warranty in almost all cases, and can also take a look at several telescopes. This is great as if something goes wrong, you can always take it back within the allotted period of the warranty. The choice of being able to look at several telescopes also gives you the benefit of finding a telescope that meets your needs. The helpful staff can also give you information you need about telescopes, whether a beginner or more advanced.
Buying a used telescope offers the benefit that you can get the telescope cheaper than if you were buying the telescope as new. This could mean that you get a great deal on the telescope, and likely get a much better telescope for the same money as if you were buying a new telescope.
An important note about buying a used telescope for sale is that the telescope may have problems. If you do go with this route, then consider the state of the telescope. Telescopes are scientific precision instruments used to view objects billions of miles away! This means that any damage to optics can result in poor viewing.
As a note, please strongly consider where you buy your telescope from. The telescopes for sale in a toy store generally are no good if you are serious about seeing some great views of the objects in space. The low quality optics make these telescopes good for looking at the Moon, and close planets, however, further a field they become impractical.
* Finding Telescopes For Sale
You maybe the lucky one to have a telescope store in your area. Some of these stores also sell second hand telescopes; however, the price can be more expensive than if you found a second hand telescope for sale in the classifieds in a local paper.
The internet is truly a blessing for those interested in getting into astronomy and buying a telescope. There are many astronomy stores online that sell telescopes. The only disadvantage is that you can’t view the telescope before buying. However, you do get the added bonus of having some of the best prices around. Most of these prices are cheaper than if you were to find telescopes for sale in a telescope store locally.
Finding a first time telescope is not always easy. You may have many questions that need answering. Visit this site to discover more about telescopes and find and buy a telescope that meets your needs, wherever you are in the world! Disney costumes bring enchantment to every age. They are not just for children which is part of the magic of the Disney characters. There is no debate as to whether the children’s characters are fun and stimulating, but even adults need to be reminded that life is not all about work and responsibility. Costumes that portray Disney characters bring out the child in everyone, adults and children alike.
Disney costumes for children bring pure joy to the experience of dressing up as a favorite character. The Disney collection of princesses, heroes and characters is so complete there is one to meet any preference. Your little girl can dress up as one of the classic beauties or may prefer to be a mouse. A little boy can find a selection of costumes that turn him into a superhero, Peter Pan or Pinocchio to name just a few of the choices.
The costumes that are available are designed for infants, toddlers and children. It is hard to find a cuter child than a one-year old wearing a tutu or a six-year-old dressed like a pirate and ready to take on the world. But Disney costumes are designed for older children too. Disney has a number of teenage characters that are wildly popular with the older children. Your young lady can dress like Hannah Montana or the young man in your family may decide that a high school musical character is the perfect choice.
Children growing up on the classic Disney stories naturally want to dress like one of their favorite characters. By encouraging your child to dress in one of the Disney costumes, you are also encouraging reading and an appreciation of various types of stories from fairy tales to imaginative worlds. This stimulates the child’s imagination and makes him or her want to learn more. The costume is colorful, fun and educational and your child doesn’t even realize it is promoting reading, story telling and the development of creativity and imagination.
When choosing one of the costumes, there are some things to keep in mind. They are solidly constructed and will fit well based on size. You should choose a costume size that will not drag on the ground in order to prevent accidental falls. Most of the Disney character costumes are ideal for children, because they are light colored which makes them easy to see in a dark room or when trick-or-treating in the evening. The costumes are also easy to put on and remove.
Adults will find a great selection that enables them to find the wild child inside. Just like Peter Pan, some adults just never completely grow up and like to explore the inner child. When invited to a party, it is still fun to turn into Cinderella or the Mad Hatter. There is also a selection of costumes that enable adults to become a sexier version of their favorite characters. The costumes are never in bad taste, just lots of fun.
Costumes are perfect for so many different events. They are ideal to wear on holidays like Halloween, to costume parties, in school plays and at any other community event which requires play acting or costuming. The costumes are easily recognizable and are made in various styles depending on the kind of party and the age of the wearer. The costumes represent classic, modern and movie characters that are beloved by all age groups.
If you are like most people, you don’t have time to sew costumes. The cost of materials alone far exceeds the cost of a pre-sewn costume. Disney costumes are the perfect choice when you are ready to enter the world of child-like imagination.
Andy West is a writer for Costume Super Center which offers a wide variety of costumes including Disney costumes.

There was a time when you needed to go to a design shop to get custom T shirts made up for yourself and your group. Now along with everything else you can order online, you can also buy shirts that you design yourself. You will be happier with your purchase if you shop wisely.
Look for T shirt companies that offer a fast turnaround. You will want to see your custom T shirts as soon as possible after you make up your designs. The time it takes to make up your design may vary depending on what is involved in producing it. The number of shirts ordered is also a factor.
You may need to request an estimate of how long it will take to complete your order. The T shirt company should make this easy for you. Expect to complete your design choices, along with your request for the number of shirts you wish to purchase. The custom T shirts company should get back to you right away with the information you need.
The price is not usually set exactly for all types of custom T shirts. You will probably be quoted a price for the number and type of shirts you are ordering. You may get a break on the price if you are ordering a large number of shirts. The complexity of the design might also have a bearing on the price.
One thing to watch out for is inferior T shirts. Make sure the shirt you choose is made of a fabric that will wear well. 100 percent cotton is a good choice. This kind of shirt will last and last, but you need to make sure to get it the right size. Check with the company for a size chart. Cotton jersey knit is another fine selection. Also, if you get a colored shirt you need to make sure that it will retain its color. A pigment dyed shirt will look good for a long time.
You will be more content if you deal with a company that has good customer service. If you have any questions before you order, be sure to ask them. There may be a chat line or email address provided where you can find out about the products and the services of the company. The service you get as a potential customer is some indication of the help you will receive after you have placed your order.
Find out if the company has a money back guaranty. That is usually an indication that they will do everything possible to make you happy. If the company does not mention any kind of promise to give you the best treatment and service, you might be unwise to expect it from them.
When you shop online for custom T shirts, you will have the best experience if you research the company. Study their websites to find the best offers and the most thorough design processes. Go with a company that will give you an honest estimate of the price and time frame of your order. Online shopping is as easy as that.

It is easy to find online stores that sell funny T shirts. The problem is that you do not always get the shirts you want. To find the very best hilarious shirts to buy, look for a store that offers the best merchandise and service.
The first thing most people will be interested in is whether the online store has a large variety of pre-designed funny images. Some stores only offer a few different images to be put on their shirts. You are unlikely to find anything that will suit you at such an establishment. They appeal to a very narrow group of people.
Instead, look for online stores that sell funny T shirts of all kinds. You may want an adult-themed T shirt or a simply one that comments on the ironies of daily life. Silly holiday shirts are good for a laugh, and some baby shirts are very comical. If you find an online store with a large selection, you can find all of these types of shirts and more. You will also be happier if there are numerous selections in each category.
If you do not find what you like, you might be able to find an online store that will respond to your requests for new or vintage T shirt designs. It is the mark of a good service department when your ideas are answered. You can expect that a good online store will get your favorite design if it is available. Then the design will probably be put on the website for others to buy as well.
If you buy T shirts from an online store, you might want to buy more. There might not be any funny shirts that you immediately want to purchase. Look for an online store that updates its selections frequently. That way you will always be able to find new material for your wardrobe.
Some online stores have a solution for those who want to express an original funny idea. You might be able to use a stock image and add your own text to it. If you are good with a joke, you might come up with some clever sayings for some basic pictures.
Another way to use your own comedic material would be to design your own funny T shirt. London Stansted, now the fourth largest airport in the UK has not always been a major airport with services such as rail links, car hire desks, shops and restaurants. Located in the sleepy region of Uttlesford in northern Essex it is now a hub for many low cost European airlines flying to over one hundred and seventy different destinations. Handling over twenty two million passengers annually Stansted is currently the third busiest airport in the UK. But what is the history of his airport? How has it developed from a minor airfield to one of the predominant airports in the country?
Like many of the airports in the UK Stansted started its life as a military airfield. During World War II the site was used by both the Royal Air Force and the United States military operating under the name of Stansted Airfield; so called because of the close by town of Stansted Mountfitchet. It was mainly used by the USAAF as a bomber airfield from 1942 onwards; American sorties being flown from the base throughout the war. The original site was constructed by American military engineers although today the modern terminal full of car hire desks, shops, bars and restaurants would be unrecognisable to these original builders.
The force who used the airport throughout the war years was the 344th Bombardment Group. Predominately flying B-26 bombers the pilots used Stansted as a base to conduct operations in France, Belgium and the Netherlands bombing sites such as airfields, depots and submarine shelters. The airport was also used during the Normandy landings with members of the 344th attacking the coastal batteries around the town of Cherbourg. The 344th also played a vital role in bombing bridges to limit the German army’s withdrawal through the Falaise gap. Despite a large development effort, some of the original huts still remain on the site although they are no longer used for military purposes.
In the post war period Stansted was used as a POW camp and a storage depot for the RAF. It was not until 1966 that the airport began civilian operations after being purchased by BAA. During the interim however it was used as a training school for civil pilots. From this point onwards Stansted played an important role in the growth of the package holiday industry as airlines could fly from Stansted for smaller fees than those charged at comparable airports such as Gatwick and Heathrow. At this stage the British government earmarked Stansted for further development as London’s third major airport.
In the eighties these development plans came into fruition with a major construction effort for a new terminal. The modern design by Sir Norman Foster was completed in 1991 and is now filled with a host of amenities such as a coach station, integral train station and car hire desks. The terminal was also expanded in the next decade to cope with the ever-growing passenger numbers. Despite efforts to create transatlantic routes, Stansted remains an airport that almost solely flies to Europe and parts of the Middle East.
Stansted has not forgotten its military heritage however. Due to the excess space at the site it is the preferred choice of airport for any plane that has been hijacked. As the planes can be kept far from the terminal building hijackers have limited chances of escape. The site has played host to a variety of hijack situations; the most recent being in February 2000 where a hijacked Ariana Afghan Airlines plane was involved in a four day stand off with members of the special forces. The incident ended peacefully however with violence being avoided and the 150 passengers being freed without injury.
Today Stansted remains as one of the most popular airports in the UK. Further development plans include a second runway, although this is being protested by local pressure groups. The amenities at the airport include a bureau de change, shops, restaurants and car hire provisions. From its humble beginnings the site continues to develop as a modern gateway to Europe and beyond.
Air travel expert Thomas Pretty looks into how car hire Stansted airport provisions have been integral to the site’s development.

This year to celebrate Mardi Gras, send out a few free e-cards. Free e-cards are quickly becoming the favored choice over paper cards to celebrate events.
Celebrated on the day before Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of the penitence of Lent, Carnival is a time to let loose of all inhibitions and relax, often in a drunken, rowdy manner, if the annual spectacle of Mardi Gras is any kind of indication.
The celebration of the last day before Lent dates back to at least the Middle Ages, when men of noble lineage or accomplishment were knighted and formal banquets took place to honor the occasion.
Mardi Gras, which means ‘Fat Tuesday’ in French as an alternate name for Shrove Tuesday, was established in New Orleans while the city was under French control, and was maintained as a major festival even when the territory was relinquished into Spanish hands, as well as after the Louisiana Purchase was signed and the state of Louisiana officially joined the Union.
Characterized by costumes, bright decorations, and general merriment, often induced by the consumption of alcohol, the celebration came close to being banned several times during the 19th century, but the formation of a social organization (krewe) by six men and the resulting Carnival Parade on the evening of Mardi Gras in 1857 rejuvenated and restructured the mayhem.
Though the festivities were halted for the duration of the Civil War, they resumed in full force upon its conclusion.
New krewes have been formed continuously since the first parade and are added as space allows annually. The parades in New Orleans now begin up to three weeks before Mardi Gras, with the Carnival season officially starting on the January 6th, the Feast of Epiphany.
The French Quarter of the city is the heart of the celebration, which concludes promptly at midnight on Mardi Gras, with the police asking revelers to scatter, and the massive clean up getting under way.
The krewe system was originally a hierarchical method that showcased the elite of the Carnival, and usually New Orleans society.
However, in the latter part of the 20th century, the exclusivity of the krewes was tempered by the formation of new, more democratic krewes, for which no credentials were required.
Though debutante balls and other high society events marking the holiday are still prominent, they are no longer the only way to participate in the excitement.
A trip to New Orleans during Carnival season is highly recommended if you wish to see everything first-hand, but if that is too long a way from home, try setting up a Carnival parade in your city, or neighborhood.
You need to organize some participants, get plenty of festive decorations, and start thinking of the most outrageous costumes, not to mention get the permission and cooperation of local authorities. If that is hard to come by, throwing a Carnival-themed party is another great way of sharing the thrill of Mardi Gras.
If you are planning to be in New Orleans for the holiday, get the latest parade schedules and other relevant information in advance. Also get details about how to throw the most authentic Mardi Gras party wherever you are going to spend the Carnival.

You may be wondering how to celebrate natural kindness day this year, well I have a great idea for you! Instead of going out and buying cards, simply log onto your computer and start sending free, yes free e-cards. Free e-cards are gradually starting to take over the card market, mainly because they are free.
It is natural to take great pleasure in small details: such as a smiley face scribbled on the check after a restaurant meal, someone pulling over to help change your tire, being offered to share an umbrella with a stranger while waiting for the bus in the rain, or a person otherwise going out of their way to make certain of your safety and satisfaction.
But how often can you say that you’ve reciprocated with attention of your own? For most of us, it isn’t a record to be particularly proud of.
If that is the case with you, and suddenly you are feeling guilty, then Random Acts of Kindness Day has arrived just in time. Participate in this observance and join the Kindness Movement, a no-fee required dis-organization to further the cause of doing nice things for other people and spreading positive energy through eliminating certain routine hassles and making people happy, if only briefly.
Have you ever considered paying the toll for the person behind you, or spotting someone a free ride on public transportation?
These are just some of the small things that could make the greatest difference in how someone’s day is going, and exactly the type of actions for which this celebration was established.
You may be familiar with the expression that reads “practice random kindness and senseless acts of beauty.” This approach to life, so phrased by writer Anne Herbert, can be considered the unofficial mantra for Random Acts of Kindness Day.
Get into the spirit of thoughtfulness and motivate yourself to make someone ’s life easier, and more harmonious, by performing actions to demonstrate your consideration and good will.
Your benevolence and compassion can take any form you choose, from helping someone struggling with a heavy bag, adding some coins to a meter that is running low, or holding the door open for whoever you see approaching an entrance.
Everyone could use some help on occasion, and are often either too shy to ask for it, or feel that requesting it from a stranger would be unwelcome. Open your heart to the people around you, even if it is through anonymous actions, and watch the impetus to do something for the benefit of others, no matter how simple, spread like fire.
Of course, every activity described herein is appropriate and encouraged for any day of the year, but no better occasion than Random Acts of Kindness Day exists on which to commit yourself to being more helpful and caring.
I like to send hundreds of free e-cards each year, and now I never miss anyone’s birthday. Free e-cards enable me to send them to family and friends that live across the world, and I never have to pay even if they are thousands of miles away.

This year send your valentine’s a free e-card. Free e-cards come in may different genres, so there is sure to be something suitable.
Valentine’s Day is one of the most popular holidays, probably because its theme applies to people the world over. Anyone affected by love has a reason to celebrate on this date! The holiday most likely originated from the Roman celebration of Lupercalia, an annual rite of passage festival for young men.
The names of young women were placed in a box and randomly selected by the youths. The two would be partners for the length of a year, when another lottery would be held.
This ritual was established around the 4th century B.C.E. and lasted at least for several centuries before it was stripped of its pagan characteristics and a commemoration of lovers through the exchange of heartfelt notes gradually emerged in its place.
During his rule, the Roman Emperor Claudius II issued an edict that banned marriage, because he believed that the demands of a family compromised a soldier’s dedication and motivation.
The contemporary celebration takes its name from church legend, according to which a priest by the name of Valentine conducted secret marriage ceremonies to join illicit lovers.
He was promptly arrested and put to death on February 14, 269 or 270 C.E. While imprisoned, the priest inexplicably restored the sight of the prison guard’s daughter, and left a parting note for her signed “from your Valentine” prior to his execution, hence the term for the messages of love given on this day.
St. Valentine’s identity remains questionable due to conflicting biographical information, but the essence of St. Valentine’s Day as an observance of love is undisputed.
The practices commonly associated with Valentine’s Day can also be ascribed to the medieval belief popular in Great Britain and France that birds pick their partners on February 14th.
Formal Valentines began to be circulated in approximately the 14th or 15th centuries in those countries, and the first commercially printed cards most likely appeared in the 18th century.
Those Valentines were delicate crafts made out of paper, decorated with ribbons and lace, depicting birds and other natural symbols. Write a love story or poem for your Valentine, and win her or his heart.
Give the person you love the gift of your time, after all that is what they really want! Work on communicating how you feel every day and sharing your love openly whether with cute gifts, writing sweet notes, leaving special treats in your beloved’s path, or just calling one another more often.
Be attentive to your partner’s needs and get in touch with your romantic side, you might even enjoy it! If you are still looking, use Valentine’s Day as a chance to flirt, open up, and possibly find who you’re looking for.
For instance, you can carry some candies with flirtatious messages with you, and use them as an icebreaker with those around you in any situation.
Another prominent symbol of this holiday is the god of love, Cupid as he was known by the Romans. A myth about his own adventures in love is a great story to tell in honor of the occasion.
Psyche was an unparalleled beauty, and attracted suitors that lavished her with gifts and attentions usually reserved for the gods. She began to draw attention away from Venus, and the goddess became incensed.
Turning to Cupid, her powerful son, she explained about Psyche and instructed him to make her fall in love with the most hideous creature in the universe. Instead, Cupid himself became deeply enamored of the gorgeous woman, becoming her lover and husband unbeknownst to Venus, on the condition that Psyche would never set eyes on him.
Coerced by her two sisters, who were overcome with jealousy at her riches, happiness, and divine spouse, Psyche decided to defy her husband’s demand and got a glimpse of him while he slept. He woke and left with the words, “Love cannot live without trust.”
Psyche was devastated, but decided to prove her devotion by approaching Venus, and throwing herself on the goddess’ mercy. Venus was deeply angered by news of Psyche’s and Cupid’s marriage but accepted Psyche’s services as a servant and put her through a series of perilous trials as a result of which Cupid, who had meanwhile decided to forgive Psyche, intervened.
This love story concludes with Cupid and Psyche, or love and the soul, united by love, and the marriage made official by the council of the gods.

Free e-cards have changed the way we now thank, remind, or congratulate people. This year you too could celebrate share a smile day by sending a free e-card. Free e-cards are rapidly growing in popularity, and it is now becoming uncommon not to receive at least one or two a year.
A smile is a facial expression usually, though not exclusively, expressing pleasure, satisfaction, and joy. Even those reluctant to disclose their feelings and reactions may let one slip by unchecked. Share a Smile Day was established to encourage the open revelation of positive reactions to the things that happen and people you encounter throughout your day.
A smile can be used to put someone at ease, cultivate trust and amity in any kind of relationship, whether within the home, office, or social environment, not to mention help release your own or someone else’s pent-up negativity and frustration.
There are very few situations in which a smile can be interpreted as inappropriate, therefore use this occasion to share a smile with anyone and everyone you meet as a gesture of your high spirits and affability.
You may even find that the physical action of smiling actually improves your mood and the disposition of those around you, and there is no better justification for the encouragement of the practice.
The best way to celebrate Share a Smile Day is by doing just that: smiling at anything that comes your way and urging others to do the same for the sake of creating a friendlier, more open, and more positive atmosphere wherever you may choose to make your celebration headquarters.
Remember that there are many different kinds of smiles, but for the purposes of this occasion, smirking and sneering are out, whereas beaming and grinning are definitely in.
Besides smiling, you can organize an activity to single out and focus on the things that make you smile, have a contest among your family members or co-workers to see how often or for how long you can make each other smile, or discuss how a smile changes how you react to a person or particular situation.
If you have children or work in a school, dedicate this date to the smile. Talk about the physical aspects of smiling, make crafts that depict smiles, for example, masks, collages made from pictures of smiling people, or wearable art such as friendship bracelets or clothing. Any way you observe this holiday, do it with a smile!
It takes as few as five pairs of facial muscles and as many as all 53 to smile. This number does not include the neck muscles that may be activated, or the different muscles that might be used by an exaggerated expression. Regardless of the precise number of muscles used, smiling causes far fewer muscles to contract and expand than frowning.
Loads of free e-cards are sent each year, and they come in loads of different genres. So if you are looking for a funny, sad or just plain e-card, there is sure to be one for you.

This year for nutrition month try sending out some free e-cards to remind people that eating fast food really is not good for them. One of the best things about e-cards is that they are totally free to send and create, but not only that you can send them from nearly anywhere in the world, to nearly anywhere, and they will arrive almost instantly.
Many people, especially Americans, form unhealthy and ultimately detrimental eating habits from a very early age. The plethora of frozen foods cooked in the microwave, snacks containing preservatives and artificial flavors, and the sedentary lifestyle of most people are just some of the aspects of poor nutrition.
Though many may be prone to obesity and other nutritional ailments due to genetic predisposition, much of the unwholesome nutritional habits people are accustomed to not only worsen existing conditions, but can be solely responsible for resulting health problems.
However, overeating and consuming the wrong foods are just two factors of the nutritional and health dilemma facing many Americans. Eating disorders, such as anorexia and bulimia, are diametrically opposed to the issue of overeating and inadequate exercise.
Anorexia is an extreme aversion to eating, caused by a variety of emotional and body image issues, which results in the body literally starving. Bulimia, on the other hand, is characterized by binging and purging, and is again an outgrowth of an unhealthy self-image and attitude towards food.
Growing concern about proper nutrition caused National Nutrition Week, established as an annual event in March of 1973 by the American Dietetic Association, to be extended to a full month in 1980.
Promoting fitness, nutrition, and psychological wellness as part of a healthy lifestyle is the cornerstone of National Nutrition Month. Whether you begin an exercise regimen or change your diet to include more fresh fruit and vegetables, or begin by eliminating junk food, deep-fried foods, or caffeine from your diet.
It isn’t necessary to go to extremes, so pace yourself and start by spending more time outside, and slowly removing the unhealthy parts of your diet and routine. Dedicate yourself to more nutritious eating habits and a more active lifestyle, and change the quality of your life.
Be aware that extremism, whether throwing yourself into dieting or exercising, is not a better alternative to overeating, and is just as damaging over the long term. If you suspect that anyone you know suffers from an eating disorder or other nutrition-related problems, confront them with your concerns.
Depending on their reactions to your inquiry, you may choose to seek help from responsible outside sources, such as doctors, counselors, parents, or learn more about their condition yourself so you can educate and support them in their recovery.
Taking care of your body helps you lead a more productive, healthier life with fewer preventable health problems, so the incentive for learning how to treat your body right is that it will be better able to take care of you.
There are free e-cards to celebrate nearly everything, so try sending some yourself to anyone you want.

This year to celebrate the start of lent try sending free e-cards to friends and family. They are a great way of reminding people about things, and also celebrating events. My favorite thing about them is that they are totally free, and that you can send them across the globe and they will still arrive instantly.
Ash Wednesday marks the official start of Lent, a period of forty days which is symbolic of Jesus Christ’s forty day fast in the desert, during which devout Christians perform deeds of spiritual cleansing and penitence preceding the major festival of Easter.
A day of religious obligation, church worship and the receipt of the sacramental ashes for which the holiday is named, the holiday is the beginning of the fasting, praying, and giving of alms which characterizes Lent. This is done in preparation for receiving the supreme gift: Christ’s ultimate sacrifice, his voluntary crucifixion.
This feat of dedication and purification, along with his miraculous resurrection, and its significance as the salvation of his followers, are the themes of prayer and intense contemplation.
The fast originally lasted forty hours in keeping with how long Christ was entombed, but over the centuries, as Christianity spread, the length of the season grew to Holy Week, then was extended to 36 days, or a tenth of the year, and the last addition was made with the establishment of Ash Wednesday and the three days that follow. Sundays are not counted as part of the forty days of Lent because they are already celebrated as the Lord’s Day.
This holiday’s dominant tradition is being marked by ashes as an outward sign of your repentance. This practice originated because early Christians who had committed serious sins were forced to do public penance, and one of the ways of singling those offenders out was to sprinkle ashes on the clothing made and worn specifically during the Lent season.
After receiving their ashen garments, they would not reappear in church until after they had passed the required 40 days atoning, ruminating, and imploring forgiveness for their transgressions.
The ceremonial ashes were historically and continue to be made of the consecrated palm leaves used during the previous year’s Palm Sunday services. Many Christians worship and go through the ritual of the ashes on this day, as well as sacrifice some aspect of their daily life to demonstrate their devotion to God, their preparation for their own redemption, and to bring themselves closer to God by eliminating a distraction.
For some, this means a refusal of television or movies for the length of the season, for others certain foods, and for others still, activities that interfere with their devotion, such as athletic clubs, or other forms of social interaction.
Way over ten million e-cards are sent each year, and they can cover nearly any genre or event you want. They are environmentally friendly, and are gradually starting to take over the whole card market. Free e-cards sure will make your life that bit easier.
