Many students may not know that they can take their used textbooks to a variety of places and get cash back for them. In most colleges, universities and community colleges textbooks are recycled all the time. Generally speaking, if a class is going to go from one semester to the other, there will be a great need for used textbooks.
One of the first places to start is the college bookstore where the textbooks were first purchased. There will be several times during the year that used textbooks will be bought back by the bookstore and depending on their need a student can get half of their money spent or more. It really depends on the book. At other times, they may only get a few dollars back but it is a good idea anyway.
Another way to get money for used textbooks is to advertise on a bulletin board. Around most colleges and universities there are students who need to find textbooks for undergraduate and graduate classes. Let’s face it. With new textbooks costing anywhere between $100 and $150 or more per course, it is a wise thing to advertise those you don’t need anymore. Often you can get more for your textbooks by advertising them; you can also advertise in the school newspaper.
There are a variety of online sites now that allow you to sell your books online. They will either buy your books or you can offer your books for sale. You can also purchase used textbooks at these sites. A Google search for used textbooks will bring up more sites than you can imagine.
Some of the things to keep in mind when you have used books for sale:
1. Make sure they are in good condition.
2. If you think you are going to sell them back or sell them to someone else at the end of the term, don’t mark in them. Also, don’t use highlighters. You will get more money for a book in perfect condition than one that looks used.
3. Check the bookstore to see when they are going to sell it back.
4. Some bookstores have a way that you can check to see whether the book is being used. For instance, with some websites you can actually check the ISBN number to see the amount you can get in buy back.
5. Be sure to include your email or phone number if you are selling them on a bulletin board.
6. Go online and check out the various places that buy used books and post yours for sale.
You may not make a big profit from selling your used textbooks, but you will save on the cost of new ones for yourself.
One other way that you can be of help with used textbooks is to send them overseas. There are many programs that ask for textbooks of any kind as long as they are new. If you can afford to let yours go, this is a worthwhile cause.
FreeStudentListings.com is a school specific resource where you can sell used textbooks. Not only can you find cheap used textbooks by school, you can locate an internship, jobs for students and graduates, and student housing. Visit FreeStudentListings.com to get started today!

Technology is a wonderful thing indeed. It makes life easier in almost every ramification. One such area in which technology has made life a lot easier is in the area of searching for information.
Gone are those days of spending long hours, days or even weeks looking for the information you want. For example, 20 years ago if you were searching for a particular book you would have to physically visit the Library.
As if that isn’t manual work enough, you would then have to spend laborious hours searching through the huge collection of books therein, all in an attempt to find the book you want. And who says you would end up getting what you want? Most times you hardly ever get the book you want, even with the help of the librarians.
But gone are those days. Now with the Internet you can find ANY information you want with just a few mouse clicks.
If for example, you are looking for a particular audio book, you can get started from the search engines. Simply visit any of the major search engines like Google and type the book title you are looking for with the word “audio book” included. By simply doing this you will be presented with the most relevant results for your search.
Specifically, you can get the particular audio book you are looking for by going directly to bookstore websites. These online bookstores have special search features on their sites which you can use to find the particular audio book title you are searching for. Using these search features on the sites is similar to using the search feature on your favorite search engine.
The major advantage is that you are searching the database of the particular bookstore (very focused search), unlike the search engines which search the entire database of websites that they have (obviously unfocused search).
To get started, visit any of online bookstore and enter the particular audio book title you are searching for. If you know the exact title or author name, put it in the search. It will be wiser to include the term “audio book” in your search query so as to get the best results.
If you exhaust these options and are unable to find that audio book that you are looking for, visit one of the many book forums on the Internet and ask for the advice of other book enthusiasts. You will be astonished that there are many people out there who know a lot and are willing to share.

I love science fiction. I have since childhood… third grade, I believe. My oldest sister came home from visiting our dad in Florida with a copy of Robert Heinlein’s “The Star Beast” and tried to get my other older sister to read it. She wouldn’t. I would (then my other sister read it just to keep up).
I was hooked.
It didn’t take long to find that some people consider loving scifi a little, or even a lot, strange. I’ve talked to people who just don’t understand science fiction at all, or picture it to be like the stuff printed in the old pulps; you know, all blasters and bug eyed monsters, mad scientists and beautiful daughters.
And then there are the people who flat out disapprove of it. How dare anyone speculate on such a level! My inlaws think my husband and I need to clean out our selection of scifi and just read the standard bestsellers, or better yet, nonfiction! Yawn! Just not my style.
I see nothing wrong with enjoying being a scifi fan. If you’re reading this, you probably don’t either.
It’s fun seeing science fiction hit more and more of the mainstream. You see it on television. You see it in top movies. You see it on the bestseller lists.
And yet to many there’s still that stigma. Being a geek is more fashionable now, but it doesn’t necessarily mean becoming popular. Loving science fiction to many is just plain weird.
Thank goodness there are so many of us who love the weirdness. Dressing up for conventions, waiting in long lines to see the movie the first night… in costume, no less, is just a part of the fun. It’s to be embraced.
I love introducing people to science fiction. I’ve talked people into reading science fiction novels who were shocked that it included themes they love in whichever brand of fiction they already loved. To them, the idea that it could have a great storyline, romance, adventure, whatever, was truly astonishing.
Sharing your favorite science fiction television shows, movies and novels with people who think they have no interest in it is fun. I urge all of you to try it. Some will appreciate the experience and you might end up with a new friend to drag to conventions, or at least talk about favorite stories with.
Also make sure you share your favorites with your fellow fans. How else are they to hear about the great books, movies or television shows that somehow escaped their notice. How else are you going to drive the people who still don’t understand loving science fiction utterly nuts?
Stephanie Foster got hooked on science fiction at a young age and now owns http://www.sciencefictionado.com/ where she reviews science fiction books and more.

You’re a busy person who loves to read, but just doesn’t have the time. When you do have the time to read a magazine, you often see advertisements for new novels, and you wish that you could have time to read them. For people like you, there is a way that you can get things don and enjoy a new novel experience too, thanks to audio books and tapes.
About Audio Books and Tapes
Audio books and tapes are becoming more and more popular for many reasons. First of all, many people have jobs that take up most of their time, and they are too tired to read at the end of the day. These people choose them as a unique way to catch up on their reading. They listen to audio books or tapes as they are falling asleep at night, or they listen to audio books and tapes on their way to work.
Truck drivers often listen to audio books on tape. These people are on the road for hours and even days at a time, and when regular radio music does not seem interesting, they like to listen to audio books to make the trip go by faster.
People also like to listen to audio books and tapes for curiosity reasons. Many people have a particular author that they like and would like to know more about them. Nowadays many authors actually narrate the books that audio form of the books that they write, so audio books and tapes are a way for people who have already read a particular book to listen to it and gain a different perspective.
This alternative to regular literature is also popular because it features the voices of famous actors and actresses sometimes. For example, if the movie form of a novel was particularly popular, the actors or actresses who played the main characters in the movie might agree to also narrate the audio book.
To get started, visit any of these online bookstores and enter the particular audio book title you are searching for.
Sometimes audio books can be very simple, with no background noise at all, just the narrator’s voice. Other times, audio books can be like radio shows, in that they come complete with multiple actors and sound effects. So the next time you are in the mood for an alternative kind of literature, go to you local bookstore and pick up an audio book and tape.

Book lovers have long been starting and joining book clubs. There is something very rewarding about sitting around with friends and discussing your varied views on a favorite book. Multitasking has become a way of life and the emergence of audio books has found its way into the lives of busy book lovers across America.
If you find yourself among the growing number of audio book fans, you can still experience the fun and friendships that come from joining an audio book club. Starting an audio book club from scratch is not as difficult as you may think. The biggest challenge may be finding a meeting place and agreeing on the gathering time. Your local library may be able to help. They may also be an experienced source of help during your development of your audio book club.
How to Get Started
After you find a meeting place and set the time, it’s time to get the word out. Distribute fliers to the local community bulletin boards, hand them out at church, send out emails to friends and family and don’t forget to canvass your local library branches. After receiving some interested contacts, you can choose a moderator for the initial meeting. A vote can be taken at the first meeting to determine a permanent moderator or you may choose to make a rotation list. Be sure to get contact information in case a meeting needs to cancel for inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Everyone present at the first meeting should suggest a title of two for review and a vote can be taken on the most popular choices.
Be sure to determine your next meeting time and place before leaving. You may also want to set some ground rules like bringing children to meetings or adding new members. It would be helpful to discuss what your expectations of the audio book club experience are. Many audio books have discussion topics available either with the product or available separately online. You may also ask each member to contribute a set number of questions or topics for discussion with each selection.
Audio books are available on every subject from the Bible to science-fiction and romance novels. Your audio book club may decide to choose only selection centered around a set theme or to vary the topics. The key to a successful audio book club is to have fun! Keep in mind that the members have gathered together with a love a books and a desire for new friendships.

Downloadable audio books are gaining popularity all over the world for many reasons but mostly because you don’t have to give up reading just because you are too busy. Many of us enjoy reading a good book and have favorite authors whose books you had to buy and carry with you all over the house in the hope that you will get the chance to open and read it as soon as you get the chance. Unfortunately when we read our whole body comes to a stand still as we engage the attention of the brain through the eyesight without which you cannot conduct other activities. However since the audio book has been introduced you can listen to your favorite book while doing other things like chores or driving.
People who spend a large amount of time traveling find audio books to be an excellent way to put normally wasted time to good use.
What Are Audio Books?
Audio books are generally taped spoken versions of books. Some are electronically generated but most people seem to prefer listening to an actual human voice reciting a novel or article. Anyone can get enjoyment from this type of book, from children to adults.
Audio books can enable people with poor attention spans or those that simply don’t have the time or inclination to read a book an opportunity to still hear the story and not miss out on the opportunity to experience the thrill of a good story.
Many children’s toys now come with variations of audio books, designed to encourage the child to develop an interest in books even before they can actually read them by themselves. These types of audio books can also free up time for busy parents. They are handy when traveling or at times when there is not enough light to read by.
People with poor sight that do not wish to use reading glasses in order to enjoy their favorite books can also make valuable use of audio books.
Audio Book Downloads - Are they Worth the Price?
Most people agree that audio books can be quite expensive in shops or the Internet but the downloading of audio books tends to be cheaper than the purchasing of one in an actual shop. Of course the audio books that are free are the greatest value of all, as long as the sites they are downloaded from are legitimate.
Downloadable audio books from a reliable source are an economical alternative to joining a book of the month type club. The advantage is that you pay once and can gain access to it at any time of the day and have the freedom to download it more than once. So, you can have 24×7 downloadable audio books available and there is no need to wait for books to arrive after being shipped for delivery. What’s more, there is no time limit nor are there any due dates and once your download is finished you are the owner forever.
The only negative aspect of an audio book download is that there is no physical item, it is just a file and when looked at in this way, the price can seem somewhat extravagant. However, they can be transferred onto discs and external devices which means they can last longer and be used on an ipod, mp3, or even cd player if allowed to copy the file onto a disc. This should be verified before purchase.
Downloadable audio books are growing in popularity because they are easily accessible, affordable, and portable. It is estimated that audio books produced $187 million in revenue last year and the projected sales for the near future is in the billions of dollars. They fit into today’s busy lifestyles and the increase in sales is proof that more and more consumers are discovering and enjoying downloadable audio books.

Most of us enjoy reading a good book to relax and escape in a different world however; most of our life styles don’t allow us to even read the newspaper anymore unless it is requirement at work. It is not that we don’t want to read anymore; it is fact that we have become extremely busy and simply cannot fit the pleasure of reading a book into that schedule. Changing life styles and improved technology has its benefits too and one of them is that you can find today audio books in order to listen to them instead of reading.
When we engage in reading a book or anything else for that matter you need the undivided attention of your eyes as well as your brain in order to follow the story line and not have to read the same page couple of times, which implies that you cannot do anything else besides reading. Audio books allow you to engage in other activities as well while listening to the book for example, cooking, commuting from school or work, cleaning the house, walking, shopping or even exercising.
What Makes Digital Audio Books Better
Usually audio books come on CDs and you will require a CD player in order to play them however, digital audio books can be downloaded on your ipod or MP3 player, which takes even lesser space than a CD player and can hold the whole book without you having to change the CDs when they are over to the next one. Digital audio books are the latest and best creation for the busy bodies of today who still want to hold on to their favorite authors and books.
Online is probably the best place to shop for digital audio book because you will be able to download them straight to your ipod or MP3 player; there are many audio book stores to be found online that sell both audio books on CDs and also digital audio books for those interested.
Don’t Go A Day Without Listening To A Book
Even though the advanced technology and the fast paced world has made us busier it has also provided us with some of the best devices to multitask and use all our senses in order to be able to enjoy the simple pleasure such as reading/listening to a book. Audio books are not only great for those who are busy and don’t have time for books but also for those who cannot read because they are blind or any other medical condition.

Audio book CD rentals provide a great service to those who have become audio enthusiasts. The audio book market has become a great source of entertainment and education for many people. First of all, audios have become very popular with those who drive long distances on the freeways. Changing channels on the freeway as a car moves away from a city makes it difficult to tune into a talk radio station or a music station. An audio can be obtained in advance from and audio book CD rental outlet and taken along on the trip. The audio can provide for distraction from a lonely freeway in the middle of nowhere.
Audio book CD rentals are also very popular for those who commute to work on a regular basis. There are some commuters who spend many hours on the road to get to their jobs and back home again. This can be very tedious unless there is some form of light relief to fill the vacuum. A rented CD can provide a wide array of audio books. These audio programs can be educational and informative or entertaining and enlightening. The market has increased dramatically and CD rentals have become so popular as the number of commuters and the distances they travel increases.
Audio Book CD Rentals Appeal to Seniors and Sitters
CD rental organizations provide a great service for senior citizens. Many seniors have enjoyed audio books, but these are more prohibitive to buy for people on a fixed income. The audio book CD rental programs provide a great selection for seniors without the expense of buying the set which they will only listen to once in most cases. The seniors seem to enjoy audios because they do not cause the eye strain of regular books. Many seniors use audio as a great source of entertainment and further education.
There are great audio book CD rental titles for children that will entertain them while a baby sitter is in charge or when they are riding in a car on a long distance trip. These audio books are great for improving the concentration and listening skills of young people. Some great titles on audio books for youngsters have charming rhymes and engaging stories. Getting online audio books is so easy. Unfortunately, if you choose to get your audio books on tape or compact disc, you will have to pay more for them because of the product design, and you will have to wait for them to arrive in the mail. With the mail problems of today, it could get lost, stolen or even sent to the wrong person. Although this does not happen that often, it is something to be concerned about as you do not want to lose it, especially if you have already been waiting for days and weeks. In the world of today, you no longer have to wait for very long if you have internet access. You can pretty much get what you want when you want it.
With online audio books in digital format, you will get the audio books instantly. You do not have to wait for them to arrive in the mail, pay the higher cost, pay for shipping, or only have the ability to listen to them in certain places. You can hear downloaded audio books on computers, PDA, MP3 players, and so on. You have the convenience of listening when you want to and where you want to.
You can also get the latest audio books as soon as you go to your favorite online audio book store. If you were going to buy a cassette tape or compact disc, you would have to wait for the audio book to be produced in these particular formats. With downloadable audio books, you do not have to wait to listen to the audio book of your choice.
There are, of course, some disadvantages to downloading an audio book online. However, these problems can be easily fixed. Audio books are much larger than other things you would download, such as music. Because of their size, they will take longer to download. The time it will take will depend on the website you are downloading from, and the speed of your internet connection. These might seem like some huge disadvantages, but they can be easily remedied.
1. Download in your spare time. Wait until you know you will not need to use the Internet. Set aside some time to download your audio book so you can step away from the computer and complete other tasks that need to be done, watch your favorite television show or movie, or just relax while you wait for your audio book to download.
2. Search for another downloading place. If you have a high-speed connection at work, you can download your audio book there instead of at home. First, make sure it is all right with your boss. Just tell them that you will be performing other work tasks while you are downloading your audio book and then do just that. If your local library has a higher speed internet connection than you do, you might also be able to download it there. Just call your local library and ask them. You could also ask a friend or family member that has a high-speed internet connection to download your downloadable audio books for you.
3. One more thing you can do to shorten the download time is to search and find audio book formats that are specifically created just for you and others who have a slower internet connection. These particular formats will download online audio books faster and easier for you.
Having said that, good downloadable audio book sites allow you to choose three qualities of download: high, medium and low, the latter taking the least amount of time to download because it has less megabytes, which reduces the quality a little, but this is generally fine with spoken word audio books.

Downloading audio book MP3’s is simple, the process is much like downloading anything else from the internet; the file needs to be saved to the subscribers computer, in MP3 format, and from that point can be saved to a CD (for personal use only) or directly to an MP3 player.
The fees for this sevice are usually purchased either for monthly fees or by purchasing pre-paid credits. The cost varies depending on the number of downloads per month (usually one to four); also the cost is generally higher than a rental club because downloads don’t have to be returned.
Clubs and Credits
There are benefits to both clubs and credits; clubs require a monthly fee, and limit the number of downloads per month the more downloads allowed generally the higher the fee will be. In addition to the selected monthly download some companies offer bonus weekly pre-chosen selections.

MP3 Audio Book Downloads or Renting Audio Books
The style of reader/listener a person is will be the deciding factor as to which type of audio books a person should purchase; downloading MP3 audio books is essentially purchasing them as to renting which is just that renting the audio book.

Online audio books save you so much time. No more library visits or having to skim read thousands of synopsis to find something enjoyable. Gone are the days of having to wait for books to become available or having to carry around five or six heavy novels. Now days, all of your entertainment needs are available at the click of a mouse, giving you the opportunity to expand your horizons and explore subjects that would not normally catch the eye.
The internet offers a treasure trove of information and with online audio books becoming more and more popular, you can easily find something that interests you. One of the many advantages of downloadable audio books is that there are no limitations to authors. Virtually anyone can make their work available online resulting in an even wider range of material then you would ever find in any big city bookstore. Some authors are even narrating their own audio files thus, making the relationship between writer and listener much more personal.
Simply visit one of the most popular search engines such as Google or Lycos and type in the key words ‘online audio books’,or’audio books’,along with the title or subject of the book that you are looking for. Immediately you will be directed to a list of websites that sell online audio books to suit your every need.
It is advisable to check the type of material that you purchase when selecting audio books as some are shortened versions of the original work and are known as abridged versions. In comparison, unabridged versions of audio books are transcribed word for word from the original written text. For true appreciation of the classics, unabridged versions maintain all of the original authenticity.
For a more direct search you can achieve quicker results by going to well-know bookstore websites. Some of the most popular are:
Amazon.com
BarnesAndNoble.com
AudioBooksBonanza.com
The fun begins when you have reached the website that you want to search as you will literally be spoiled for choice. Audio books become much easier to locate if you have a specific title or author in mind. Buying an audio book on CD is a good idea for a multitude of reasons. Although many people expect that the visually impaired gain the most use out of audio books on CD, just about anyone can benefit from the enjoyment provided. An audio book on CD can provide entertainment for a group of people and can especially benefit a family with a number of members that may fight over who gets to read a new book first. Sitting together and listening to an audio book on CD means that the whole family spends some time together and more importantly that nobody gets to enjoy the story without involving the others.
Most bookshops now supply audio books on CD, although many libraries also offer audio books as part of their book selection. It may be a better idea for someone to rent out an audio book for the first time before actually buying one just in case they do not enjoy it. Audio books on CD are really popular these days, especially when the voice is provided by someone famous. Because they are on CD, people can listen to these books on the go, whether they are walking to work, traveling on the bus or even when they are in bed and waiting to fall asleep.
Comparing Audio Books on CD to Regular Books
It is hard to compare audio books on CD to a normal piece of literature that requires reading because inevitably it is down to personal preference. A lot of people prefer to put in the effort reading the words themselves and imagining the story in their minds while others are quite content to simply listen to the words, tones and inflections of another person to get genuine enjoyment out of a story. Families can all gather around together to listen to an audio book on CD while they can only read a book one person at a time.
Price is usually roughly the same although some audio books can be a lot more expensive than actual paperbacks and so this may be a deciding factor for a frugal person. If a person cannot concentrate on reading a book due to background noise from their family or neighborhood then listening to an audio book on CD using a set of headphones could be the best option as that will not disturb anyone either. As long as the CD-Player has batteries, then audio books can still be of use even during a blackout, while reading a book is dependant on a decent light source. People who are having trouble with their sight may definitely be interested in audio books on CD rather than trying to read as normal and aggravating their eyesight problems.

Experts in the educational sector have agreed that audio textbooks in the classroom go a long way to help students more than normal books, especially those students who are just beginning to read or those who have difficulty in reading.
In fact, since their introduction, no less than 8 specific benefits have been identified for students using audio textbooks:
1. Audio books provide students with an alternative dynamic or alive source of information apart from the teacher, as opposed to the static dead book, giving the students more variety in the classroom and making the learning process more interesting.
2. Some audio textbooks are specifically prepared with children in mind, such that they are not just informative, but also entertaining. These types of audio books bring fun, and thus, another dimension and a greater quality to the learning process.
3. By playing an audio book, the teacher is freed to do something else, thus allowing teachers to be more productive at school.
4. For those children who have difficulty reading, audio textbooks make it easier to follow the material, making sure they do not miss anything. By just listening to the audio book while reading the printed material can significantly improve comprehension and thus, enhance learning.
5. Audio textbooks are cost effective. One audio book can replace the need to buy 30 odd hard copies.
And better yet, there are now audio book rental services available via the Internet that allows teachers to hire audio textbooks as and when required. Of course, hiring is cheaper than buying audio books, and significantly cheaper than buying just one hard copy, let alone 30.
6. Many audio books are of interesting stories written to entertain children. This is particularly helpful when the children have become too tired to apply their minds to processing static words from a page.
7. Children tend to prefer to listen to an audio book than read a book. Understanding language from audible stimuli is a skill learned from birth and reading is a skill that is much less developed in the school-age child. Accordingly, listening is easier than reading and affords greater comprehension.
8. Audio textbooks aid with the pronunciation of certain words. Due to the relatively less-developed skill of reading in school-age (as compared to hearing), children often have trouble pronouncing words they merely read. Hearing someone say a word clearly while seeing it printed at the same time is developing a stronger association in the students minds, making it quicker to learn.
People in general, but especially children, find it easier and more fun listening to an audio lesson than reading it. It is simply easier to process audible stimuli than it is processing written words. This explains why more children choose to watch the film rather than read the book, and it is the same with adults.
This is why more and more schools are using audio textbooks in the classroom as teaching aids. Additionally, with audio textbook downloads now available online, it is more cost effective than ever to add the audio to the visual word.

The days of storing boxes and shelves full of dusty old hard-copies of your all time favorite novels and literature are over;it is time to get with the audio book trend! This is not the day to be left behind or excluded because you are old fashioned or backward in your knowledge and beliefs. When you download audio books, you have the opportunity to learn and grow everyday, with little or no interruption to your normal lifestyle pattern.
This growing audio book trend is obvious when looking at the sales statistics from recent years. In the UK and Germany, over $120 million dollars worth of audio books were sold individually in the years 2004 and 2005. The sales results for the US for 2006 are expected to be at least one fifth higher than the UK and Europe! Considering their short time on the market, this is a phenomenal popularity growth rate, and it will not be surprising if they eventually overtake book sales all together.
Why are audio books growing at such a fast rate in their popularity? There are a number of reasons for you to throw away the old books and convert to audio book format instead. The first and best benefit is definitely the fact that you can listen to audio books anytime and anyplace. It does not matter if your day is filled with errands and housework, you can still improve your mind and inspire your soul by taking time to listen to a good book. Maybe you take the dog for a daily walk or spend time in the gym? Both of these can be used as opportunities to stay up to date on your reading.
In America, statistics show the average person spends over an hour a day driving or on public transport. There are at least 500 hours a year each person could use to learn and stimulate their imaginations instead of being bored and uninspired, waiting to reach their destination. All you need is your MP3 player, which we all know are light weight, compact and convenient to carry anywhere, then download audio books of your choice. Imagine being amid the hustle and bustle of a busy train trip, totally detached from the stress and discomfort around you as you disappear, listening to a book you love?
With an audio book, you do not need to worry about having quiet, private space to read. You can zone out anytime you like by putting in your earphones and closing your eyes. No noise or activity can distract you unless you want it to, and you can choose to look out at some nice scenery or drift off to sleep anytime. Audio books are also fantastic for those times when you are just hanging around the house looking for something to do or waiting for your next favorite television program to begin. You will be amazed, once you start getting into an audio book, how often you will make time to listen, and how quickly it could even replace other less inspiring activities for you.
If you know anyone who spends a lot of time sitting around doing nothing, buy them an audio book you think they would enjoy. You could initiate a whole new world of inspiration and education they never knew was possible. Whether it is a child you know who is advanced for their age and needs extra stimulation or an elderly person who lives alone or in a retirement village, they will love listening to a good audio book.
It is easy to download audio books as they are available over the internet any time of the day or night. If you are lying awake, wishing you had something to do, why not visit a popular downloadable audio book site and find a book that interests you (possibly even something relating to insomnia!). With so many mundane duties to perform every day, you really should consider it a blessing that you can now find the opportunity to enjoy books when you are so busy. Do not keep your head in the sand any longer but download audio books today to start you on your journey of evolution.

For some, carrying a hardcover or paperback is a cumbersome task added to which many times, various places do not provide the best atmosphere for reading a book. The less demanding task of listening to words coming to life through audio books is a convenient, as well as versatile approach towards gaining knowledge and passing the time in a productive manner. Below you will find some of the places an online audio book download or audio book purchase comes in handy:
Lying in Bed
On a lazy Sunday morning, maybe you do not feel like opening a book or sifting through the newspaper. Maybe you just want to lie down in the bed and not worry about exerting too much energy to entertain yourself. An audio book allows you to stay alert and awake, while catching up on your favorite characters as you listen to, instead of read about their adventures. Audio books can take away the stress and effort it takes to open a book, hold it, and concentrate on the presentation of text. Also, you do not even have to turn the lights on to enjoy this delight.
Doing Chores In The Kitchen
On top of taking care of the kids, there are plenty of household chores that mothers and fathers tackle on a regular basis. Whether the dishes are piling up or dinner needs preparation, the monotony of these duties brings about a boredom that helpful distractions, such as audio books can relieve. When you wish to catch up on your favorite novels, you can download an online audio book that does not demand the use of your hands. Audio books also make great diversions to the rumble of a vacuum cleaner.
Working Out At The Gym
For some, it is rather hard to concentrate and stay on task when it comes to exercising, jogging, walking, lifting weights, running, or using a treadmill to tone the body and lose weight. While the body is in motion, often the mind is left stagnant. To maximize your precious time, you can enjoy a nice audio book while shedding the pounds. Audio books also make great companions while hiking, running outdoor trails, or practising yoga in the comfort of your own home.
Driving On The Road
Whether you take the subway to work or need to drive to an out-of-state conference, audio books are completely portable, allowing users to carry them wherever they go. Since a commute is nothing but a waste of time for the mind, many can take pleasure in a welcomed distraction from the strangers associated with transportation options, such as a commercial bus ride. This might be the perfect time to learn the romantic foreign language you have always had interest in.
Traveling By Air
Whether you are a business professional or a leisure traveler going on vacation to Hawaii, looking out of an airplane window and taking naps gets a little boring. Perhaps you are visiting a foreign country that speaks a different language. Download language-related online audio books and brush up on a few basic phrases that will make your stay much easier. For the business traveler, there are also tons of audio books that can improve career skills, including time management, organization, and interviewing.
Cruising By Sea
Taking a cruise has become a popular holiday adventure, whether it is to the Caribbean, the Greek Islands, the Mediterranean or around the world. While you sunbathe on deck, rest in your cabin or go sightseeing, these are all opportunities to relax with your favorite audio book. Load up your ipod or mp3 player with your chosen downloadable audio books before you go on holiday and you are set for hours of enjoyment without adding weight to your luggage with reading material.
Audio books make great companions whether you are on land, in the air, or at sea. They provide comfort in times of hardship, relaxation, and boredom. With a selection that seems to never end, both store-bought and online audio books are easy to get hold of. To exercise the mind, encourage learning, and boost creativity, this type of outlet is sure to stay with us in an ever-changing audio world.

Kids these days have lots of different things on their minds. These thing can include school, teams, and of course their social lives. This often leave less time for leisure reading. So, the next time you are looking for a great gift for a kid, consider getting an audio book for a kid.
About Audio Books for Kids
Some kids just love to read, while others do not. This could be for many reasons, including just because they find it boring, or because they have a learning disability. So, audio books for kids could actually be a great way for kids to listen to classic stories, while learning at the same time.
For children that love a sense of adventure, one of the most famous books series of all time is C.S. Lewis’s The Chronicles of Narnia, which was also recently made into a popular movie. This series has luckily now been made into an audio book for kids.
The first book in the series is The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. This audio book for kids follows the journey of four siblings: Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy. During World War II the children are sent to the house of a professor, who has an interesting room with a wardrobe inside.
The children discover that the wardrobe is an entrance to the land of Narnia, a place that has been put under the spell of the White Witch. The White Which has made it so it snows all the time, and she turns those who disobey her into stone.
The children learn of a powerful figure called Aslan, a lion, who is the source of goodness in this land. An army is raised, to defeat the witch and her forces. Will Narnia be saved? Children will have to find for themselves in this audio book for kids.
Another audio book for kids (those who are too small to read yet) is Goodnight Moon. This is a wonderful story that is told at bedtime. Children will soon fall asleep to this soothing story.
Audio books for kids can be found at local bookstores or online. What you choose as a gift will depend on the child’s likes and dislikes. However, with the proper research, you are sure to find something that the kid will like. After all, there are many audio books for kids, so take your time, and choose one that the child will find fun.

People all around the world have now heard of the Harry Potter (HP) series of books and there are huge numbers of fans, children and adults alike populating the earth. The latest book has only been named and does not have a date for publish, yet it is already on some online sites top seller lists as huge amounts of people have pre-ordered both the books and audio book versions of the story.
Each and every one of the Harry Potter books has been a bestseller and the audio book versions do not seem to be an exception. The Harry Potter audio books are incredibly valuable in homes that consist of more than one fan and as most parents do not wish to buy the same expensive book twice in order to save their children from arguing about who gets to read it first, they are now turning to the HPr audio books so that the whole family can enjoy the stories at the same time.
The books tend to be long and many parents do not have the time to read the books in entirety to their children which is another reason why parents are buying the books in audio format.
Pros and Cons of Purchasing the Harry Potter Audio Books
A lot of children are demanding the Harry Potter audio books in addition to the regular books as they simply want as much of Harry’s merchandise as possible. After reading the long books for the first time, they may then be content to listen to the tale being told by another person and if their parents do not have the time to spend reading aloud then the HP audio books can be a worthwhile solution. However, some children are only interested in the Harry Potter audio books to the detriment of actual reading books. This can be a drawback as some of them are less likely to get into the habit of reading paper books and so stick to listening to someone else read the books instead.
One of the best things about the original Harry Potter series is that it does encourage children to want to read and can get them started into a good lifetime habit of reading. However, the audio book versionss can sometimes take this good point away by making it easy for the children to become slightly lazy about reading and get used to listening instead of attempting to read the book for themselves.
On the other hand, listening to a Harry Potter audio book is most definitely better than sitting around watching television and many young children like to fall asleep listening to the audio versions of their favorite books.

Mining is such a rich subject fraught with meaning both metaphorical and actual. Mining is a metaphor for so many things, some of them opposites, womb, tomb, search, journey, riches, poverty, darkness, discovery, to name a few.
Certainly mining was a considerable factor in pioneering, building and establishing the character of our nation. Stories of miners abound. Some historical figures have pursued mining to the limits of prosperity and back down to the depths of despair and poverty.
Horace Tabor when he died, told his wife, Baby Doe, to hold onto the Matchless Mine, a silver mine in Central City, at all costs. She did that for thirty-five years after the death of Horace and was found dead, some say her arms in the shape of a cross, in the mine itself. Some science fiction movies use mining and its darkness as a metaphor for hell.
The adventure abounds, and to my way of thinking nowhere more engagingly and agreeably than in the book, Orphan Boy, A Love Affair with Mining by H. Court Young. What is so compelling about this book is its real life hero, Herbert T. Young.
He did his duty in adversity; he followed his passion in his marriage and profession; he bestowed a legacy and example of loving inspiration for his descendants; and consequently he harbored no regrets in old age. Is this not what we would all like to be able to say about our lives?
Herbert had a childhood which was dismal because his father, after the depression, deserted his mother and his other nine siblings. Yet Herbert turned this catastrophe to victory excelling in everything he did. He held jobs to help his family.
In high school he participated in sports and held a record in basketball that had not been broken when he died. He did not really want to fight in World War Two, but he saw it as his duty, enlisted and served in the famous fighting 17th which flew very dangerous combat missions in the Pacific Theater for several years of the war.
He married the love of his life whom he met at college and pursued the profession of mining after the war, out of his passion and penchant for adventure. He shared with his son, Court, the author of this book, many actual mining experiences and many stories about the nature and character of being a miner. He did not flinch from duty, but also he never gave up his dream.
When I think about life I find that very often I do not live close to the passion in my heart and in my soul. I love to find stories of people who pursue their life dreams and talents until the end. Herbert did that. From Oprah we get the idea of being able to make the connection, perhaps between our outward selves and our souls.
It is always a wonderful experience to read about people who take risks, who pursue the dream, which is sometimes wild and wooly, cracked and fractured, albeit frequently graceful and stunning as a mountain peak. Herbert was such a person who experienced all the highs and lows of following his ardor for mining. He made the connection between heart and mind, between vision and action. I think of him as reconciling the outer and inner man.
This book contains much more than just the story of Herbert. It tells about mining itself and how it works, and it informs the tourist of the fun of exploring the area by hike, bike, ATV and Four Wheeler.
But for me, I love the story of a man of The Greatest Generation who turned his passion and his pain into joy and giving. He led a generous life to himself, to his family, his friends and business associates, a life which can enliven and invigorate us all to follow our dreams.

An antique book is more than a collection of pages by your favorite author. It is a piece of history, a glimpse into the past. One in which the binding was done by hand the paper often likewise and if far back enough in time, the pen was a quill.
There are many factors which influence the value of an antique book, as in all antiques. First there is the condition of the book. The binding, the pages, whether dog-eared or torn, or God forbid, missing. The pages may have notes written on them. (Which can often be valuable in themselves if penned by a famous person or under unusual circumstances) or they may be damaged or stained or any number of factors which will affect their desirability. In the same way if a book is signed by it’s author this usually increases it’s price, although in the modern world not necessarily as “book signings” are all too common as a marketing tool and have helped to downplay the importance of a signed edition. All of these factors contribute to the overall value of your antique book.
The overall availability is a factor in price but is not necessarily the main factor as a book may be hard to find but not desirable. In other words it may be rare but nobody wants it! Confusing? Yes it can be. It is prudent to consult a dealer to appraise your antique book whether for insurance purposes or because you are attempting to sell it. In the final analysis, antiques are always only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.
Appraisals Dealers usually need to see the book itself in order to identify and appraise it. You may submit photographs if you cannot see the dealer in person due to distance or time. They will require usually a photograph of the title page, the back side of the title page (also called the copyright page), the first and last pages of text, and the outer covers and spine in order to evaluate an individual copy. It is best to have very close up, quality photographs if you must go this route. If you are not proficient with a digital camera, ask one of your friends to do it for you. The popularity of digital cameras today makes quality photos easy to accomplish. Do not try and photocopy the book! This produces very poor results and may in fact damage the book due to the pressure exerted upon the spine in this process.
You often hear the phrase “first edition” in reference to books and this can influence the price of the book if there were, in fact more than one edition! Many times there were not. Be careful when someone touts the first edition status of an antique book and attempt to determine for yourself if there were indeed subsequent editions. Again remember to use all of the resources online and elsewhere to obtain valuable and often free information on your antique book. There are several national societies of book dealers, “antiquarians” and of course appraisers that you may take advantage of in the search for information. There are also book collecting societies that you may investigate. Take your time and learn all you can before you buy or sell your antique book.

In spite of the great popularity of CDs, many people still prefer audio cassettes above CD’s, especially when it comes to listening to audio books.
Here are some reasons why:
1. Audio books on audio cassette contain as much as 90 minutes of content but on CD format they are restricted to no more than 75 minutes of narration. It is possible I know, to have the entire audio book spread out over a number of CDs, but you would then have to carry around a number of CDs for each audio book. So, while you might need a few audio cassettes for a particular audio book, you would need many more CDs for the same audio book.
2. People don’t like to spend the extra needed to buy CD audio books when they can get them for less in audio cassette format. An example being, the full-length version of “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” on 12 audiotapes can be bought for just $31.96 on the Barnes & Noble website, the CD version at Barnes & Noble costs almost twice as much as that amount - exactly $55.96 for 17 sets of CDs! Of course, its not that they are ripping you off - it’s just that it costs much more to produce CDs than it does to produce audio cassettes.
3. If you turn off your CD player whilst listening to an audio book, you will not pick up listening from the same spot that you turned off . With a cassette of course, you will continue from the exact position that you finished listening. With CDs it used be exasperating when listening to them in your vehicle because, every time that you turn off your car, it would mean having to start at the beginning of the audio book and trying to establish exactly where you were before you stopped your car. Of course with the more modern and advanced CD players they now save your precise location in the audio book as you turn off your car, thereby allowing you to take up again from the exact same spot that you left off. This won’t work when you turn off the car AND take out the CD. But it will work with an audio cassette!
4. Audio books are in the main narration, but many users don’t see why they should pay extra buying CDs for better recording quality when they can get near enough the same sound quality with audio cassettes.
The debate is that if it was just sound “quality” they wanted, they would go for audio books in CD format, but sound quality is virtually the same with audio cassettes and CDs when it comes to audio books.
However with the advances in computers and their increased mobility and compactness the future popularity of audio books looks assured.
Graham Winmill belives Audio Books are more popular than ever due to the increased use of mp3 portable players and iPods. Find out about more interesting content for your portable players at:

Everyone seems to be busy and chasing after time that they never have a chance to sit down and literally read a book. The technology has done great wonders by providing audio books.
Now you don’t have to find the time to read a book after work.
Now you can have the books reading to you while you are on your way to work, when you fetch your kids to school. You can now enjoy someone reading the book to you. Isn’t that amazing?
With audio books, we also get to enjoy unique advantages of doing other things that take up our hands, but not our minds. We can now do other things like household chores, exercise, etc while still having the book read to us.
More people are embracing the wonders of audio books and are buying their favorite books in audio book version.
If you are considering buying an audio book, below are 6 of the great places you can enjoy an audio book:
1–In bed - There are certain days when we just don’t want to do anything but lie down in bed thinking of certain issues. Or we could just want to lie down in the dark until we fall asleep.
This is a great time to listen to an audio book. You wouldn’t have to bother with putting on the lights, holding the book, flipping through the pages or the stress of reading the book itself.
With an audio book, the entire book will be read to you while you stay comfortable in bed - without flipping any pages, holding the book or putting on the lights.
2–In the kitchen while doing household chores such as washing the dishes or cooking. For some people it can be very boring being in the kitchen, especially washing the dishes or other such chores.
This is a great time to enjoy an audio book because your hands are busy but your mind is free.
Instead of feeding your mind with negative thoughts during this time, an audio book would be a wonderful alternative.
3–In the garden while gardening - You can also listen to audio books while gardening. The audio book can make the gardening fun because you would be concentrating on the beauty of the audio book and not on the difficulty of gardening.
4–While exercising such as jogging - Exercising such as jogging leaves your mind open but your hands, legs and even your entire body busy. This is a great time to enjoy an audio book.
Most people perform exercises for many minutes or even hours while their minds do nothing. But listening to an audio book during this time ensures you don’t waste those times that you exercise.
Talk about killing 2 birds with one stone - exercising your body and mind at the same time!
5–On the road commuting - This could either be in your personal car or a commercial bus or train ride to work. You see, many people lose a great deal of time doing nothing while commuting to and from their jobs.
Why not use that time to listen to an audio book, especially one that develops your mind and/or improves your professional and business skills?
For example, listening to an audio book that improves your skills daily can do a lot of good to your career, instead of listening to a musical song which wouldn’t help you much in the area of skill acquisition.
6–In the air while traveling - You wouldn’t believe it, but there are many people who spend more time in the air than on road. There are professional assignments that involve traveling from one state to the other, or even from one country to the other.
If you are in such a situation, consider the enormous benefits you would get listening to audio books, especially those that can improve your professional skills.
Yes, there are many audio book courses made specifically for professionals to improve their skills in many areas of their professions.
Not only that, you can also find books on health, beauty, sex & relationships

Many of my friends regardless whether they are working or busy at home taking care of kids, they never have the time to sit down and read their favorite book.
Work can tire you out as well and by the time you sit down, you just want to lie on your bed and start dozing off.
Many of us buy a lot of books but never had the chance to complete the book and some didn’t even have the chance to take the book out from the bag even!
Below are some of the specific advantages that audio books have over normal hardcover or paperback books:
1. Audio books are more cost effective to produce than hardcover and paperbacks. More so, those who love to conserve nature insist that if all books are audio instead of hardcover and paperbacks, this will save more trees and keep the earth better than it is today.
2. You can select the exact track you want to listen to instead of flipping through several pages in the case of normal books. This saves a great deal of time and makes it very comfortable for you.
3. You can listen to audio books while doing other things in the house, while commuting to and from work or even while jogging. With an audio book someone else does the reading, while you do the absorption.
4. You can listen to an audio book when its dark (example - when you are out camping and you’ve got no lights) but you can’t read a book when it’s dark. So, with an audio book you can go on vacation and still enjoy what the audio book has to offer.
5. You can save the time you spend reading to your kids each night before they sleep with an audio book. Unlike a normal paperback or hardcover book that you have to read to your kids, with an audio book you can simply play it for them until they fall asleep, thereby saving you the time.
6. More so, audio books that are specifically for children are more fun than your reading can be. You probably were not trained to talk like a rabbit, right? But most of the narrators of children’s audio books were trained to read in ways that children love.
With the incredible advantage of listening to your favorite book instead of reading it, the popularity of audio books has now gone through the roof. There are now more and more book titles with audio book versions. Audio books is becoming a lucrative market for many working professionals, students and parents.
Think about it - with audio books you can now save that extra time you spend reading a chapter on your favorite motivational book each morning before you leave for work. Apart from saving extra time, you are gaining extra knowledge in the process.
You can simply put it on to play while you prepare for work or even play it in your car on your way to work.
No wonder children, adults and even oldies have fallen head over heels in love with audio books.

There’s no denying the fact that most people hated reading as kids. Only a few kids enjoy reading, especially if there is an alternative.
Audio books have now made it possible for children to get better access to materials that they don’t like reading.
Of course they must still read, but reading any material and still hearing it makes the reading much more interesting.
Many schools have now taken audio books not just to the homes of their students but also in the classrooms.
Experts in the educational sector have agreed that audio books in the classrooms go a long way to help students more than normal books, especially those students who are just beginning to read or those who have difficulty in reading.
Below are 10 specific benefits of using audio books for students:
1. Using audios to teach children in school gives them “variety”. Instead of just listening to their teacher, they benefit from the change that comes with “another” teacher.
2. There are specific audio-books prepared with children in mind that are not only educative but very entertaining. These types of audio books make learning much more fun than normal teaching.
3. Using audio books to teach kids in school will give the teachers more time to prepare for the next lesson. The teachers can play the audios for the children while doing something else.
4. For children with reading difficulties, they can slowly follow the readings from audiobooks until it feels comfortable to read.
Simply following an audio book to read along while looking at the printed material in front of them can increase their learning skills by a very high percentage.
5. Audio books save money. Instead of buying dozens of books for a classroom, just one audio can be played for all the students in the classroom.
There are certain audio rental services on the Internet, such as Jiggerbug.com that allows teachers to rent as many books as possible at very low cost. This is much more cost effective than having to buy even a single audio.
6. Audio books that tell interesting stories are very helpful in times when the children have become too tired to read and study.
Most importantly, popular stories that children love, will be very interesting for them to listen to.
7. Children don’t particularly like printed books as much as they do audio-books. It feels much more comfortable for them to “listen” to an audio book than “read” a book.
8. Audio books also have children deal with the pronunciation of certain words that they would have difficulty with when merely reading them. By hearing the pronunciation and seeing it printed, they would better grasp it.
All in all, most children find it a great deal of fun listening to a lesson on audio, rather than having to read it. That is why children spend a lot of time watching movies, rather than reading.
No wonder more schools are embracing the technology of audio-books for teaching their children. And with services available freely on the Internet now, it is now more cost effective than ever.

It is always a challenge to get children to sit down quietly and read a book, especially kids who are just beginning to read or those who have difficulty in reading, audio books is a good way to integrate fun and interaction in learning.
Parents can now have an easier time in teaching their kids with audio books.
Educational experts have agreed that books with narration are easier for kids to absorb and remember. Kids enjoy story telling and could remember stories if they heard it from someone.
Many schools have now taken audio books not just to the homes of their students but also in the classrooms.
Here is how audio books can help engage children in their learning
1. Parents can have an ease of mind when they send their kids to school. Kids will no longer be crying their way to school. With audio books, children will enjoy going to school as audio books provide interesting books that arouse children’s interest and attention. Children tend to be more attentive if there is a third party talking and speaking to them. With narration and sound effects, it is sure to get children to remember information better.
2. Audio books can make learning more entertaining than conventional teaching. Your children will be excited and keen to learn more from exciting audio books.
3. Using audio books to teach kids in school allows teachers to have more time in planning more well-thought and interesting programs and teaching materials for your children
4. Children with reading difficulties can listen and follow the books simultaneously. This could promote their interest in reading and allow them to learn as they listen. Most importantly, popular stories that children love, will be very interesting for them to listen to.
5. Audio books save money for the parents and storage space for the school as teachers don’t have to buy and store up tons of books for a classroom, just one audio book can be played for all the students in the classroom.
6. Children don’t particularly like printed books as much as they do audio books. It feels much more comfortable for them to “listen” to an audio book than “read” a book.
7. Audio books can also help children deal with the pronunciation of certain words that they would have difficulty with when merely reading them. By hearing the pronunciation and seeing it printed, they are able to remember and pronounce it better.
No wonder, audio books is getting more popular among parents and teachers. They can easily assess children books at the popular audio bookstore like Merlion Audio Bookstore for a wide collection the all time classic stories such as Alice in Wonderland,Hans Christian Henderson’s Fairy Tales, a wide collections of Chronicles of Narnia and a series of fairy tales such as the Three Little Pigs, Tom Thumb, Goldilocks, The Emporer’s New Clothes, Hansel & Gretel and many more.

Welcome to the world of sound. Are you a good listener? Did you have a hard time learning by holding your attention focus to your school teachers years ago? Did your mind literally fly out the classroom window when you tried to be a good student and listen to your teachers years ago?
Almost all of you will find that you have grown out of the concentration problem as you got older. We settle down as we mature and can hold our concentration better. Unfortunately many people never learned to read at all. This is sad because they can never know the joy of reading and enjoying a good book. With the introduction of audio books now they can.
One of the great innovations flying out of developments on the internet is the audio e-book and free downloads and samples that come before it. The non reader can now enjoy the recent popular fiction book and adventure story that happens to be true.
An audio book is a printed book that is read to you. Just like mom, dad or big brother or sister did when we were very young.
One of the great discoveries of our time has literally been with us all along. Educators can teach us when we can pick our best learning times. The blind do not have to use Braille methods to read books, anymore, to enjoy travel adventures. So, non readers and the blind both can learn to speak languages foreign to them via audio book training modules.
These amazing audible books appeal to the deeper consciousness within us. Our minds make pictures in a very different way when we are read to by professional speakers, famous people and original authors. Books from languages we do not understand can be translated into our native languages for us to now enjoy in story book spoken form by a reader.
We can learn almost any task, at least in part, by using audible books. We can get a free book summary online from thousands of audible stories and training programs that have been put into spoken form to get a better idea of what they are all about with no charge. This way we can decide if we want to get the whole book back by downloading it.
You can get an abridged book that takes out many parts of the whole story book and just includes critical parts so you can get a lot of the meaning of it. Words will sometimes be changed to give you the meaning and gist of the book.
You can also get an unabridged book that gives you the complete spoken story, fact or fiction, of the book. For example; The Green Mile unabridged book by Stephen King that you can download, with a purchase, is thirteen hours long. This includes the whole book.
Writers and publishers will accept the lower priced audio story book version of their stories to make more money from higher volume sales of their works of art and education being sold. So this audible version will save you some money. The online web sites will sell you the stories for less than the printed hard or paper cover versions.
The downloads from the website can be burned onto your cd. Of course, you are not allowed to sell them to others or buy them and burn cds to give to others.
This is not fair to the writers or website. You are allowed to download and use them on cds, dvds, cassette tapes and other recording devices for yourself.
Cds, mp3s, dvds, ipods and cassette tapes are light and easy for you to transport anywhere. Ipods have very large capacities with new innovations so you can get a lot of product into a small spot for convenience and access. The quality of the reading sound will deteriorate very little versus old style records, tapes and other recording devices.
The way you access your audio products is usually by download. This is an easy process to learn. This is taught on the web sites that sell the books.
Some websites even have videos you can access on the website to learn how to do the downloads. They are short and easy to understand. You can email the party you buy them from with any questions about this process but this is seldom necessary.
One of the amazing parts of the downloadable internet audible book is you can download them from the website whether you live in Paris, New York, Miami, Sydney or Canton. You can now do this easily from virtually anywhere in the world. You do not have to travel to get your audio storybook.
You can get your audio e-book and free downloads and samples anytime of the night or day because they are automated on the internet. They are accessible any day or holiday of the year.
They are entertaining and they can teach you many different lessons on an oral format that does not stress your fingers, elbows, back, eyes or arms as much as printed books do. This is a new concept in learning and enjoying books that will enhance the joy of your life.
James M. Lowe has thousands of audio books for your listening pleasure to have read to you by celebrities and authorsdownloadable audio books.

I didn’t believe it the first time I heard a friend of mine say -
“I benefit from the reading of 50 books each year… in my spare time”.
Knowing how demanding her time was because of her top position in her job and because she is a single mom, I was certain she was lying and I told her so.
Smiling, she insisted that it was the truth. I would have continued arguing with her until she pointed out to me that she didn’t have to physically “read” them, but they were “read” to her while she listened… in her spare time.
Not giving me any opportunity to argue, she went ahead and played an audio book on her CD player for my perusal.
She explained that this was how she had almost any book she wanted read to her as audio books while she prepared for work in the morning, while she prepared her daughter for school, while she did her exercises each day, while she commuted to and from work and any free time she had on hands that didnit involve using her mind.
I was surprised, to say the least, that I could have been doing the same thing in my spare time, instead of just commuting to and from work doing nothing.
You see, my work is one that requires a lot of my time involvement. I have to leave home quite early, spend over an hour on the road because of the constant heavy traffic and when I get to work, I work all day until break time and closing time.
From what this friend of mine explained to me, I knew I had to give audio books a try.
I did and was very impressed.
Now, I can proudly say I also benefit from the reading of up to 50 books each year.
Still don’t think it’s possible?
Fine, let’s do the math:
For an audio book that takes 4 hours, you can have it read to you in just two days - 1 hour each day while preparing for work in the morning and 1 hour each day while commuting to and from work. That’s 4 hours in 2 days.
So, if it takes you 2 days to have one audio book read to you, that will be 365 days in a year divided by 2. That will equal about 133 books each year!
That’s over double the original 50 audio books we were targeting, right?
Audio books are indeed the secret formula that many people use to get the value from the best books they want to read. With audio books, you can forget the frustration you always had whenever you force yourself to read any book.
For the bookworms back in college that want to continue reading but can’t afford the time anymore, you now have a solution in audio books.
Whether you want to use your PC, cassette tape player, CD or even any PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) iPod or MP3 player, it is now possible and within your reach for peanuts.

No doubt about it - I am a book lover.
I love books and have been reading since I was a little baby. My parents made sure they instilled the love of books in me. Unlike my other mates throughout school who always had problems reading, I never had such problems.
Reading was fun to me. It was something I would do, not because I had to get good grades in school, but because I just loved to. Like you would expect, I carried this love for books into my adulthood. To tell you how serious this love is, I even met my wife in the library where I went to get a novel I had heard so much about.
Now that I have kids I still read. My love for books is so great that I am on my way to instilling the same love into my kids too. I used to make it a habit to read to my kids EVERY night before they go to bed, no matter how tired I am when I get home from my job. I didn’t expect it to, but because I work long hours at my job, I always get very tired while reading to my kids at night. In many occasions I have even fallen asleep before my kids right whilst I’m reading to them!
Deep within me I could see that there just wasn’t any way I could keep up with the habit of always reading to my kids each night… unless I found another job that would take up less of my time (but still pay me good wage at the same time - impossible to find such a job, right?)
At that same time that I was thinking of that, I was promoted in my job. This then demanded my presence at the office one hour before everyone else, and - you won’t believe it - one hour AFTER everyone else had left the office.
Yikes, that’s the one hour I spend every morning reading a chapter on motivations and inspirations and one hour I spend reading to my kids after work - all going down the drain. I was in a great dilemma about what to do. My wife suggested I give up reading to my kids at nights, and she would do it instead, but I just couldn’t let that happen because she had too much to do herself, and I didn’t want to add more responsibilities for her.
I was still battling for a way out when I discovered AUDIO BOOKS!
Eureka… the savior had arrived.
Six weeks after my first contact with audio books, my dilemma has ended. Not only have I gained back my 2 hours taken by my job, I have added many more hours to my life because of audio books.
How?
First, I now get a 2 hour value of books every morning before I get to work. During the 1 hour it usually takes me to prepare for work, I listen to an audio book.
During the 1 hour or so it takes me to commute to and from work, I listen to an audio book.
During the 1 hour or so I spend to have lunch and break times, I listen to an audio book.
Total time gained with audio books is 3 incredibly educative hours in the mornings and afternoons.
Now my job doesn’t have to take all of my time away from getting the value I get reading books.
Secondly, instead of spending the 1 hour reading to my kids each night when I get home tired, I play an audio book for them instead. Somehow I discovered that they seem to prefer the audio books to my
