Natural Ways To Cure Adult Acne

Acne No Comments

Acne is a skin condition that usually affects teenagers due to the hormonal changes that accompany puberty. For a small percentage of people their acne continues into adulthood, and can continue into their thirties, and in some cases into their forties.

Oily skin is the biggest cause of acne as it gets trapped in the skin’s pores. Bacteria then causes an inflammation of the skin which is commonly known as a spot or pimple.

Treating adult acne is slightly different to treating a teenage spot problem due to the different hormonal changes in the body, and also the environmental causes of the problem. It’s not just a case of washing twice a day with a medicated soap. When you’re an adult skin care takes a bit more time and focus.

If you suffer with sensitive skin then the environment you’re living in could be playing havoc with your skin. Smog and smoke can be a continual bombardment of pollutants that can cause your skin to produce more oil or not enough oil, and these pollutants can cause pores to become easily blocked.

A diet high in oily or greasy food can also cause your skin to become oily as well. If you suffer from adult acne then these foods are best avoided. Replacing your diet with foods that are healthy and high in nutrition will have a dramatic impact in the way your skin looks and feels. Like the rest of your body your skin relies on nutrition to run at it’s optimal best.

A diet high in fresh fruit and vegetables will provide your body with essential vitamins and minerals. These foods are high in fibre so your intestines will move at a faster rate. Food that stay in your intestines too long will ferment, and then toxins will be absorbed into your body, and this will be reflected in the way your skin looks.

Keeping your body hydrated is important as well. A dehydrated body will cause your skin to become dehydrated, and this can cause spots and pimples to appear. Your body needs at least eight glasses of water a day, and this will need to be increased depending on how much you exercise.

Regular exercise is a great way of keeping your skin clear. Exercise helps the body to expel toxins through sweat, and it will give you a reason to drink more water which flushes more toxins out of your body.

What you put into your body, and the environment you live in will show in your skin. You have the opportunity to look as healthy as you possibly can. If you experiment with small changes for a few weeks you will have an idea of how good you can look, and how clear your skin can be.

3 Easy Steps - Being Proactive, Acne Improves. Simple!

Acne No Comments

This article covers the 3 easy steps you should take to clear your skin of acne. You might read elsewhere about a ‘miracle cure’ for acne, a ‘magic acne cream’ that will work instantly, or a ‘new breakthrough’ that will keep your skin clear forever, but ultimately the success of any treatment you use, will entirely depend on how motivated you are to apply the medication every day over a long period of time.

Being Proactive, Acne Improves. Simple!

The title of this article says ‘3 easy steps’, and the steps ARE easy, but staying with these 3 steps for the long-term is not easy, and this is where most folks fail in their attempt to beat their acne.

My own son is a prime example of this - he is lucky in that his acne is quite mild, but it does have a huge effect on his confidence and his self-esteem, and that has a major effect on his life. When he has spots, he follows this regimen diligently for as long as it takes for his face to clear, but no matter how much I remind and encourage him to carry on treating, the frequency of his treatment drops off and eventually stops which means his acne returns - it’s a vicious cycle. If you recognize yourself in the above paragraph, don’t feel too bad about it - welcome to the club!

Being Proactive, Acne Improves. Simple!

I do not want to give anyone false hope here, but if you follow the 3 steps (and stick with them), almost all of you will be able to clear your acne. OK, the 3 steps are:

1. Cleanse

2. Medicate

3. Moisturize

Were you expecting something more complicated? It’s not rocket science I know, but it does work. In fact it does get a little more complicated than that, because I should have added a word after each of those steps that word is ‘properly’, but I will cover what properly is means in this context a little later, and you will need to continue with your treatment after your acne is clear.

Cleansing Your Skin ‘Properly’.

1. Golden Rule - when you wash the areas affected by acne you want to avoid anything that will irritate your skin - so always be very gentle.

2. Splash your face, neck, chest, and all the areas that are affected by acne with warm water.

3. Use a cleansing wash if you wish to gently wash the affected areas, use your hands only and don’t spend too long doing this, you don’t want to irritate your skin.

4. Rinse with warm water and pat your face dry very gently, do not rub your face, remember you do not want to cause any added irritation.

5. Leave your skin for about 5 minutes until it is completely dry before you apply your medication.

Medicate Your Skin ‘Properly’.

1. Ensure that your hands are completely clean and dry.

2. Take the manufacturers recommended amount of medication onto one finger and use a finger from your other hand and gently apply the medication to the affected areas.

3. Then, work the medication using a circular motion with the finger into the skin until it is almost all absorbed - do this without applying any pressure.

4. Allow the medication to dry for about 5 minutes or so.

Moisturize Your Skin Properly.

1. Ensure that your hands are completely clean and dry.

2. Use the ends of your fingertips to gently pat the moisturizer onto your face.

3. Using the same technique as you did with the medication, work the moisturizer into the skin very gently.

4. Remember, when you are moisturizing, the same golden rule applies; avoid irritating the skin by rubbing.

Being Proactive, Acne Improves. Simple!

This 3 step regimen will work with any medication you are using (providing it is the right medication for your skin), but only if you follow it to the letter AND stick to it twice every day.

Almost every person I have met who has failed on this regimen has failed because they were not able to keep it up long-term. It is a chore, there is no point denying that, but if you are proactive and motivated enough you will see fantastic results.

How Long Before You See Results?

For most people 4 - 8 weeks will see their skin improve dramatically, others though will need a little more time, some will see results within a couple of weeks. But when you do see a significant improvement, please, please, please carry on, even if it is only once a day, because this will play a major part in preventing your acne returning.

Herbal Guide To Cure Acne

Acne No Comments

It’s very rare on earth that at some point of life you didn’t get a pimple down on your chin or blackheads on your nose. Probably it had happened when you were sweet sixteen. Anyways the adolescent period is the prime hour to get affected by acne. Till you have reached your thirty’s somehow these reddened spots disappear.

Among the form of acnes pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, blackheads, comedons and cystic acne are widespread. Among the treatments followed by most across the world, simple cleaning the face with water and face cleansing solution or soap is most common.

There are also many alternatives present in the medicinal treatment of acne. Doctors will go for antibiotics, benzoyl peroxide solutions and ointments to cure acne. But there is an entirely natural way to find out remedial solution for acne. In the herbal medicinal world, there are quite a number of curing medicines to treat acne.

To name the two best herbal remedies, they can be none other but neem and haemafine syrup.

Neem as blood purifier

Scientifically neem is known as Azadirachta indica. From ancient times, the leaves of neem have been used to maintain a glowing and healthy skin throughout the Oriental countries. This holds a great significance in the Ayurvedic practice.

As a detoxifier, neem holds a prominent place for ages. It is also known to be an excellent medicine to keep your blood purified and free from germs. Now what has blood to do with acne? There is a deep relation between skin condition and the state of blood. Until your blood is free from any kind of germs, it is not possible for the skin to maintain the radiance. This is somewhat an association between the body’s internal system and the external organs. Internally once the blood is affected, the external reflection comes directly on the skin.

Again neem enhances your immunity and keeps your skin away from any type of infection. The neem does this by enhancing lymphocytes to resist the infection.

Haemafine syrup for bright complexion

This is a specific tonic exclusively used as a herbal treatment procedure for purification of the blood. Quite similar as neem, this syrup too acts as a balm to keep your blood pure and hence your skin is unaffected from any external infection.

Above all haemafine syrup brings a fresh glow to your skin and give you are better look of youthful days.

Thus both these herbal remedies for acne put stress on blood purification. The internal cleansing is considered to be the strength for the external well-being.

Right Time To See The Doctor For Acne Treatment

Acne No Comments

You regularly clean your face. You wash your face and body with soft cleansing soap. You try to put off the extra oil coming out of your skin with ointments containing benzoyl peroxide. You also eat a few doses of medicines available over the counter. Yet acnes are not ready to vacate your skin. They love to envelop it wherever they have got the opportunity. So is it the time you must now see a doctor?

Certainly you must see a skin specialist or a dermatologist by now. Don’t leave your acnes untreated to turn them into an adverse condition.

First symptom to see a doctor

Till you are having small and round pimples or blackheads, you can carry on with your self treatment procedures. But when you find the shape of your pimple taking a wavy form or an angular turn, be careful. This is the premonition that the acne will gradually form acne scars.

The first indication either lies in the shape or in the color of the skin. Generally when the change is initially seen, the face is found to be filled with pits. Gradually those pits deepen and form patches of scars all over. Your original layer of skin then peeps through this scarring contour which looks peculiar. It makes your appearance darker and unpleasant.

You also face an acute problem of inflammation. The state of your unhealthy skin makes you prudently feel disgusting. And if by this time you don’t take the decision of visiting the doctor you will fall in a severe trouble. Who knows you might have to undergo dermabrasion to get the scars cured?

Women suffer more

Young girls must be very careful if acnes start spotting on their skin. Drink plenty of water and keep your internal system clean. Keep your skin clean and avoid extra coatings of cosmetics. Go for a natural and herbal treatment when pimples start coming up.

It is very fine if you can say bye to acne in this way. But if you find that there has been a change in your hormonal secretions in your body which is leading to menstrual problems, immediately visit to a doctor. Even growth of unwanted hair on face or body must be brought into the notice of the doctor.

Fever with acne needs doctor’s supervision

When severe acne on your body starts swelling, there is a high chance of suffering from high fever. In such a situation you must not delay to consult a doctor. The acnes must have taken the shape of acute skin infection. A doctor can only find out what’s really wrong and give you the right solution for cure.

Adult Acne Rosacea: Causes And Treatment

Acne No Comments

Rosacea is a condition that affects women more often than men, but men have more severe symptoms than do women. The onset of symptoms tends to occur in people over 30 years of age although both women and men can experience it at anytime.

Adult acne rosacea is a skin disorder that shows up on the middle part of the face. The areas of the face around the nose, forehead and chin become reddened and can be full of pimples. Even though it is called acne rosacea, it is different than acne. Acne rosacea is a disease that mostly affects adults who have fair skin. In the areas affected by rosacea, the blood vessels, which are usually small, become enlarged and visible.

Causes Of Adult Acne Rosacea

The causes of this condition are unknown. It is possible that stress can cause flair ups of rosacea. People who commonly blush have more flair ups of rosacea. Exposure to the sun can cause flair ups as well.

It is possible that there is a mite in the hair follicles that could cause flair ups of rosacea. Also, some doctors believe that the bacteria Helicobacter pylori can cause rosacea breakouts. But these are all guesses. Right now, doctors are not sure what exactly causes adult acne rosacea. It could be different for different people.

Signs Of Adult Acne Rosacea

Rosacea usually appears as an inflammation of the skin on the face around the forehead, nose, and cheeks. Over time, the skin no longer returns to its original condition, unless treated. It can be combined with the nodules associated with acne.

Adult rosacea can cause a nose condition that is called rhinophyma. This makes the nose grow to be bulbous and enlarged. Also, the eyes can be affected by adult acne rosacea. Rosacea sufferers often suffer from conjunctivitis, which is a burning and itching of the eyes. This can lead to very serious complications of the eyes.

Can Adult Rosacea Be Treated?

The condition is not curable, but it can be regulated with treatment. People who suffer from adult acne rosacea should not use over the counter acne treatments. These can irritate the skin and actually make rosacea worse. If you are suffering from adult acne rosacea, head to your doctor. You will be given both oral and topical medications for your condition.

Oral medications are usually antibiotics. Doctors usually start patients off with a high dosage to shock the body, and then taper off the treatment as the rosacea begins to respond. Topical medications vary, and can include antibiotic creams that reduce the swelling and rosy color of rosacea. Sometimes at the beginning of treatment, doctors will give the patient topical steroids, such as cortisone, to start the treatment of the inflammation.

Avoiding spicy food and smoking can also help flush out the symptoms of adult acne rosacea. It is also important to avoid sun exposure and extremes in temperature when treating rosacea. Do not use any strong skin care products.

Regarding the use of antibiotics, treatments like tetracycline and doxycycline will work, but are only temporary as once ended, the condition will return. Instead, they will exacerbate the condition by making it more inflamed and itchy further bothering the patient with adult acne rosacea.

Super Strategies for Stamping Out Acne

Acne No Comments

What is acne? Certainly, most of us know what it is, simply because we have had to experience it at one time or another in our lives. But, in case a definition is needed, here is a short one.

Acne is a dermatological term that includes clogged pores, pimples and lumps or cysts that occur on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders, and upper arms. Acne occurs most commonly in teenagers, but is not limited to any age group, afflicting even adults in their forties.

Most people with acne attempt to treat their irritated skin with external face washes, soaps, lotions and treatments. However, the best way to treat acne is by changing your diet and getting rid of acne-causing ingredients such as fried foods.

This disease has many varieties, and although none are life threatening, the more severe cases of acne can be disfiguring, leaving permanent scars on effected areas.
Most people with acne attempt to treat their irritated skin with external face washes, soaps, lotions and treatments. However, the best way to treat acne is by changing your diet and getting rid of acne-causing ingredients such as fried foods.

A healthful diet rich in natural whole foods like vegetables, fruits, whole grains and beans is the first recommendation for treating acne. Foods containing trans-fatty acids, such as milk, milk products, margarine, shortening and other synthetically hydrogenated vegetable oils, as well as fried foods, should be avoided.

It seems the prevalence of acne in the United States is built into the typical American diet. Americans tend to eat fried foods in large quantities, usually cooked in the most harmful of fats and oils. Not all fats are bad, but the fats that typical Americans eat make them more prone to develop acne and skin problems, such as what’s in ice cream, cheese, bacon, and milk.

Acne cannot really be treated using creams and soaps because the root of the condition lies beneath the skin. Pimples and blemishes are caused by bacteria and other irritants embedded underneath the skin’s oil glands and hair follicles, which are generally caused as a result of improper hygiene and poor diet such as too much processed, fatty, fried and sugary foods.

A skin-healthy diet emphasizes raw and lightly cooked vegetables, especially green leafy vegetables that contain valuable trace minerals and are rich in fiber. Fresh green vegetables are essential. Also include in your diet lean protein sources and complex carbohydrates, such as rice, whole-grain bread, and potatoes. These fiber-rich foods help ensure a clean gastrointestinal tract, which is especially important in the management of acne.

Eat three healthy meals daily to provide important nutrients and to decrease your appetite for sugary or greasy fried foods. Foods rich in vitamin A, like apricots, watermelon, and broccoli, as well as foods like lean beef, nuts, beans and whole grains that are rich in zinc can also be helpful in reducing acne breakouts. It’s also imperative to drink lots of water to help flush the toxins out that contribute to breakouts.

To Defeat Your Enemy You Need to Know Your Enemy: Understanding What Causes Acne

Acne No Comments

While the exact cause of acne is not completely understood, the general process is known and we have identified a number of things that will trigger or make it worse. Acne is most commonly related to clogging of the sebaceous glands, hair follicles or pores of they skin. Often this is due to increased levels of androgens, which are the hormones that stimulate the sebaceous (oil) glands in the skin. It is also clear that the bacterial breakdown of the skin’s natural oils into fatty substances is somehow involved. The cause is more complex than just having dirty skin, drinking caffeine, stress or eating oily foods such as chocolates. These factors can contribute to outbreaks but research has shown that the cause of acne is actually a combination of many factors.

The number one cause of acne is puberty. This is due to changes in the hormone levels of the body. This leads to the overproduction of oils, which leads to clogged pores and infection. An oily substance called sebum (it’s job is to keep skin and hair lubricated and supple) is a main contributing factor. During adolescence, excess amounts of sebum are produced causing pores to become clogged. The pores then become infected with the bacteria P. acnes, thus the name acne.

Any buildup of dirt, oils or cosmetics on the skin can begin the cycle that results in acne. A lack of sufficient exfoliation of skin cells can have the same result. The sebaceous gland is just a few millimeters below the skin’s surface. If the top layer of skin is not regularly cleansed and exfoliated to remove pore-clogging dead cells, an outbreak is likely.

Stress can be another major contributing factor for acne. Although people find this very surprising, acne can become more serious as a result of increased stress. The stress alone does not cause the infection but it may lead to a hormonal imbalance. This imbalance causes excessive oil production which, you guessed it, leads to clogged pores and acne.
Genetics also play a part in the problem. There is credible evidence that acne is at least partly hereditary, but we don’t know exactly why some people are affected and others are not. The general consensus is that genetics create the potential for problems. Genetics combined with environmental conditions, like clogged pores, determines the severity of an outbreak.

Anything that effects the outer layer of skin can have an effect on the development of acne. This includes the clothes and postures of an individual. Rubbing or abrading the skin, from tight fitting clothes on a hot day for instance, can create the conditions that will lead to infection.
While many people feel that eating chocolate or greasy foods causes acne, experts have found few links between diet and acne. Interestingly it may be refined carbohydrates, rather than chocolate and greasy foods, that could be the cause of teenage acne and pimples. Loren Cordain and scientists at the Colorado State University in Fort Collins have published research showing that refined carbohydrates, like refined bread and cereal, unleash a series of reactions in the body, increasing the production of bacteria that cause acne. In any case, it is important to eat a healthy diet to keep your body in general good health.

The cause of acne is a subject that has been researched extensively by the medical community. It’s likely that the true cause of acne is a combination of many factors. The basic cause of acne is plugged oil glands. This can be an inherited condition affected by changing hormone levels within the body. Toxins and wastes are trapped in clogged pores, causing bacterial infection. Many scientists believe genetics, hormones, oil production and diet all play a role. The good news is that numerous studies have shown that the “chocolate factor” is mostly a myth.

Finding The Perfect Acne Treatment For You

Acne No Comments

Acne is caused by the clogging of the follicle of a skin gland causing a pimple to grow. There are times when one has to think about alternative, natural, effective treatment methods to get the best cure or solution to their acne, zits, pimples and blackhead problems.

Natural treatment methods are always a better choice for acne due to less exposure to drugs and chemical-laden acne products.

Several factors have been suggested to influence acne including diet, menstruation, sweating, UV radiation, stress, and occupation. Acne is one of most common skin conditions in the world, affecting more than 40 million people. The most common type of acne is acne vulgaris.

Baby acne is a rash seen on the cheeks, chin, and forehead of infants. While almost all young people experience acne at least once, it has been reported that 47% of those in their 20s and 30% of those in their 30s had acne.

The cause of acne is really unknown. Scientists are looking at ways to prevent plugs and ways to stop testosterone from causing acne, if it truly does.

The liver sluffs off toxins from bad foods, drinks, drugs and chemicals and sends them through your skin resulting in skin eruptions, acne, pimples and other skin disorders.

I think the cause of acne is related to our Standard American Diet (SAD) and that would also influence all our hormones.

It’s always best to seek non-invasive treatment for any skin condition. Coconut oil is very inexpensive, therefore, a good, cheap home remedy.

Drinking pure, filtered water may be the best acne treatment working from the inside out. Never underestimate the healing, restorative power of a good night’s sleep.

Popping pimples can cause infection and scarring. You want to be good to your skin and never pop or squeeze a pimple no matter how tempting. It’s easy to treat acne cheaply, simply, naturally, yet effective, at home.

Healed acne leaves scars in some people however, and it isn’t easy to predict who will end up with scars after an acne outbreak and who won’t. As a registered nurse, I have learned a lot over the years about acne scars, acne scar treatments, and acne scar removal.

Acne is not a serious health threat but, it can cause scars.

Whether you eat a natural diet with living fruits and vegetables or eat dead junk food, what you eat may have a direct or indirect affect on the male hormones which may play a part in acne.

Drink lots and lots of pure, filtered water. Essential fatty acids are particularly important to people with inflammatory conditions such as eczema and acne. Besides external acne treatment it’s best to work from the inside out too.

Use flaxseed oil or walnut oil in your salad. For an easy fiber boost, mix in 2 tablespoons of ground up flaxseeds in raw applesauce, from 2-3 apples, made in your food processor. You do want to help the skin from the inside out too.

The skin must be regularly cleaned or it’ll become cracked or inflamed. The skin supports its own ecosystems of microorganisms, including yeasts and bacteria, which cannot be removed by any amount of cleaning.

And you should be able to get rid of your acne, zits and pimples and their symptoms, providing you’ve removed the cause, so it doesn’t reoccur. Analyze all the acne treatments available and make the best decision for you, based on your circumstances. In any case, try not to panic about your acne and take it day by day.

Some Helpful Information About Acne And Acne Treatments

Acne No Comments

As a registered nurse, I’ve learned a lot over the years about acne, acne scars, and acne treatments. Living with acne can be very difficult, and even more difficult to find the right acne treatment for you.

Acne is caused by the clogging of the follicle of a skin gland causing a pimple to grow.

For most people, acne goes away by age 30, but people in their forties and fifties still get acne. Acne will affect almost every person at some stage of their life. Nearly 17 million people in the United States have acne. People of all races and ages get acne.

Most pimples are found on the face, neck, back, chest, and shoulders.

The cause of acne is really unknown. Acne, zits, pimples, blackheads, whiteheads and many other skin disorders are usually, but not always, the result of a bad diet. Experts just can’t agree on what causes acne. There is still much to be learned about what causes acne.

A skin specialist in a dermatology clinic in New York is now using a combination of red light and blue light therapy to treat severe cases of acne, and successfully so.

Some natural home remedies include dabbing on non-gel toothpaste to dry out zits or lemon juice. It’s always best to seek non-invasive treatment for any skin condition. Use baking soda very carefully when you exfoliate.

One good natural method is to apply a thin layer of coconut oil and massage it deep into the skin to heal and soothe it. Drinking pure, filtered water may be the best acne treatment working from the inside out.

Besides acne, if you also have eczema or dry skin, coconut oil will treat those skin conditions too.

Acne scars can give the skin an aging look. The good news is there are several types of treatments to choose from for acne scar removal. Acne is not a serious health threat but, it can cause scars so treat it early.

The liver sluffs off toxins from bad foods, drinks, drugs and chemicals and sends them through your skin resulting in skin eruptions, acne, pimples and other skin disorders.

In any case, no matter what skin or acne treatment you choose, whether it is chemical, drugs, alternative, or natural methods, changing your diet will result in your overall good health!

Some alternative doctors recommend eating raw cloves of garlic daily for acne.

When you change your diet, your lesions should be getting better within 30 days.

For an easy fiber boost, mix in two tablespoons of ground up flaxseeds in raw applesauce, from 2-3 apples, made in your food processor. Eat high-fiber snacks like raw nuts, raw seeds, and dried fruit, such as dates, and figs. Consider taking cod liver oil or fish oil supplements every day.

Unclean skin favors the development of pathogenic organisms - the dead cells that continually slough off of the epidermis mix with the secretions of the sweat and sebaceous glands and the dust found on the skin to form a filthy layer on its surface.

The skin supports its own ecosystems of microorganisms, including yeasts and bacteria, which cannot be removed by any amount of cleaning.

With cheap, safe, simple, natural, effective, alternative, home treatments for acne and pimples, your skin should be well on its way to recovery.

You should see the results of your acne home treatment remedies with improved skin within just a few days. In any case, try not to panic about your acne and take it day by day.

How To Eliminate Acne With Natural Remedies

Acne No Comments

The subject of natural or homegrown acne remedies is a broad one to cover as one must be able to separate the effective options from those that really amount to little more than old wives’ tales. Yet, with this said, someone searching for successful remedies for acne would be foolish to overlook the benefits of those natural remedies that have been passed on in families.

These sorts of remedies based upon common sense practices or herbs are typically successful for most mild cases of acne. It is when these cases grow more severe that one should consult a physician or dermatologist.

A List of Common Natural Remedies

Hot/Cold Compresses - A chief natural remedy that is recommended more often than not is the usage of hot and cold wet towel compresses to reduce swelling and eliminate clogged pores–the major culprit in the production of acne.

Drinking Water - This natural remedy for acne is simple enough. The premise behind it the idea that if you drink a sufficient amount of water per day, typically 7-8 glasses of water a day, your body is cleansed of elements of toxicity that can actually contribute to the development and spread of acne. It also should be noted, that many natural remedies not only recommend to merely drink plain old ordinary water, but actually adding herbal ingredients by boiling fenugreek seeds and corn into the water.

Oils and Juices - Though it can seem odd, the benefits of using natural substances like almond oil - which can actually help with the removal of acne scars - cannot be ignored. Apricot juice helps to alleviate the presence of cysts by cutting through them.

Cucumber juice - Used as a topical application, either alone or combined with carrot juice, alfalfa or lettuce.

Citric fruit juices - These types of juices, such as lemon juice, serve as a natural exfoliate, removing dead skin cells which might cause clogging of the pores. You should allow it to dry on the face for approximately 10 minutes before rinsing it away with cool water.

Fenugreek leaves - This remedy provides great prevention of breakouts and involves taking the fenugreek leaves, crushing them, and making a paste out of them. You should then apply it to infected areas every night, then wash it away the following morning with warm water.

Honey Mask - Because honey has naturally occurring anti-bacterial qualities it is often applied to the face as a mask, killing surface bacteria. Typically, the mask should be applied once or twice weekly depending upon the results of usage.

Distilled white vinegar - Apply the vinegar as a topical solution, letting it sit on the infected area for at least 5-10 minutes. Then rinse it thoroughly with cool water. Often the vinegar can be a little too strong so it is recommended that you dilute it, though not too much.

Make-up or Cosmetic Usage - Simply put, this is a common sense remedy for acne. Just avoid using these products because more than likely the chemicals and oils used to manufacture them will clog the pores, which, in turn, leads to more breakouts.

Beyond the common natural remedies for acne, there are a few other interesting options available if you know where to look.

Nurse’s Report: Breaking News:New Non-Invasive Light Therapy Now Being Used to Treat Severe Acne

Acne No Comments

Finally after two decades of research, a skin specialist in New York is using light therapy to treat severe cases of acne successfully.

What is new is that he is treating acne with the right combination of red light and blue light, not individually, as has been done in the past.

This is a great change from the standard treatment of poisoning or cutting the acne patient. By poisoning and cutting I mean taking drugs (medications) or undergoing surgery.

It is non-invasive, non-pharmacological (no drugs) and completely natural. There may be some side effects to be aware of however with all light therapy.

This light therapy, which is made up of light-emitting diodes, or LEDs, is most often used to apply concentrated doses of light to patients. LEDs are not lasers. The tissue doesn’t get hot and the treatment is totally painless.

LED light is compressed light from the red and infrared spectrum of the electromagnetic radiation. It reaches the cellular power plants of low-lying cells too, and is absorbed by the collector surfaces as an additional source of energy.

The cellular power plants can thus produce more ATP. The cellular energy is the fuel the skin cells look for and needs.

A sufficiently high supply of cellular energy enables our skin cells to work under optimum conditions and is necessary for a successful self-healing process.

So light apparently works on human tissue at the cellular level. This helps the body repair itself and heal faster.

Light can also change the speed of certain chemical processes by speeding them up or slowing them down.

Light therapy, which medically speaking, is called photo rejuvenation, refers to all treatment and devices that use powerful wavelengths of light, sometimes called “cold laser”, but is not actually laser, applied to skin.

There are four kinds of light being used in the medical field today. They are: near infrared light, red light, blue light, and ultraviolet light (UV).

The two kinds of light being used together in this new research, for severe acne, are red light and blue light.

Red light is visible. Infrared light is not visible. Red light seems to help wounds heal faster. It has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect and can kill bacteria on the spot.

More technically, visible red light, when it’s at the proper wavelength, penetrates the human tissue at a depth of approximately 8mm-10mm. Skin layers, because of their high blood and water content, easily absorb red light.

It’s extremely beneficial in treating problems near the surface, such as acne, acne scars, wrinkles, age spots, broken capillaries, wounds, cuts, other scars, and trigger points. It’s also particularly effective in treating infections.

Red light promotes increased circulation, stimulates collagen production, diminishes age spots, stimulates tissue repair, promotes healing stimulation, releases enhancing enzymes, and increases lymphatic system activity.

It also relieves pain, kills or disables temperature-sensitive bacteria and viruses, and performs cellular cleansing and healing.

Blue light is used as an anti-bacterial agent.

Blue light therapy was one of the first light-based therapies used for acne treatment. Blue light works by killing the acne-causing bacteria, P. acnes, and has been used to treat inflammatory acne vulgaris that hasn’t responded to other acne therapies.

The blue-light products of today do not contain ultraviolet (UV) light, which used to be used as a light therapy to treat acne. UV light can damage the skin and is no longer used to treat acne.

It’s this proper combination of red light and blue light therapy, working together in a special way, which will reduce and heal the severe acne that has plagued so many.

It’s always best to seek non-invasive treatment for any condition. Invasive treatment would mean anything that invades or therefore penetrates the body in some way. Drugs or medications would be an example of this.

In this case it’s a great alternative to drugs or even surgery for long suffering acne patients. Treating acne and possibly acne scars with this proper combination is revolutionary.

Acne sufferers are beginning to see the light! It won’t be long before everyone is using this combination light therapy and some may have access to it now. Discuss this new acne treatment with your skin doctor, skin specialist or dermatologist.

Acne - Types, Causes and Treatments

Acne No Comments

Acne Vulgaris, commonly referred to as pimples, is an inflammatory disease of the skin. This condition is very common in puberty. As one reaches their early twenties, it either disappears or decreases. Acne begins because of the comedo, an enlarged hair follicle plugged with oil and bacteria. The comedo is invisible to the naked eye and is present beneath the surface of the skin. When it gets the right condition, it grows into an inflameda lesion. The oil produced from the skin helps bacteria to flourish within the swollen follicle.

Non-inflammatory acre are of two types Closed comedo or white head, and Open comedo or black head. There are 4 types of inflammatory acne
- Papule: It is the mildest form that appears on the skin as a small, firm pink bump.
- Pustule: They are small round lesions containing visible pus. They may appear red at the base and yellowish or whitish at the center.
- Nodule or Cyst: Large and painful, they are pus-filled lesions lodged deep within the skin. The nodules may persist for weeks or months with the contents hardening into a deep cyst. Both nodules and cysts often leave deep scars.
Acne Conglobata: This severe bacterial infection develops mostly on the back, buttocks and chest.

The chief causes of acne are hormones like androgen, production of extra sebum, follicle fallout, bacteria and inflammation. For controlling acne, you can carry out the following steps:

- Avoid excessive washing of your skin. It can leave the healthy skin dry, thus irritating the acne prone areas. Over-washing may also stimulate extra oil production.
- Avoid alcohol products to tone your skin. Alcohol is a strong astringent that strips the top layer of the skin causing sebaceous glands to produce more oil.
- Do not squeeze or pick the acne with fingernails, pins or any other thing. It forces the bacteria deeper into the skin and often leaves a permanent acne scar.
- A wash is required after exercise. The heat and moisture trapped against the skin creates an ideal breeding ground for the spread of bacteria.
- Consume food rich in Vitamin A, Vitamin B-2, Vitamin B-3, Vitamin E and Zinc like eggs, nuts, liver, milk, fish and leafy green vegetables.
- Proper sleep and a life without stress and emotional anxiety can reduce acne.
- Wear little make-up while exercising. Avoid garments that are made exclusively with nylon.

Laser surgery is often used to reduce the scars left behind by acne. Treating acne with azelaic acid, salicylic acid, tropical retinoids and benzoyl peroxide is also common. A large number of people started trying herbal acne treatments over the traditional medications by using teas, oils and herbal creams.

Acne Treatment For Black Skin And Some Different Tips

Acne No Comments

Black men and women find acne treatment for black skin rather difficult. Acne is a skin problem which is common and consists of blackheads, whiteheads and also some big boil-like nodules or cysts.

Teenagers are by far the most affected by the disease which also affects women in their thirties. In puberty acne occurs due to the changes in the hormone levels. With time and patience, acne will heal itself in most cases..

Acne affects the hair follicles and also the oil secreting glands in the skin. It usually occurs on the face, chest, arms and back. They have different types of spots, like whiteheads, pustules, blackheads and nodules.

Acne affects people of all skin colors. The causes of acne are the same for people of different skin colors, but the impact of acne is altered according to the pigmentation of the skin. People from Africa, native Australians, African-Americans and other islands are darker than their Northern European friends due to the increased amount of the dark pigment melanin in the skin.

Melanin protects the skin from sunlight and also keeps the black skinned people appearing younger than the white skinned people. With age, dark people show irregularly pigmented skin, which appear as dark patches on their skin. If an area of their skin gets inflamed, it can be irregularly pigmented.

Acne in black skin

Though the treatment for acne is the same among black and white people, there are some exceptions. Some treatments may result in temporarily lightening of dark skin. Very dark skin is not as well moisturized as white skin, so it is preferable to seek the advice of a dermatologist before using products that have a drying effect on the skin.

The part where the skin was inflamed due to acne among black people usually are in danger of excessive skin darkening. Severe inflammatory acne among black people may cause dark spots. However, a dermatologist may help in making the spots less apparent before they resolve. Chemical peeling of acne scars may result in temporary lightening or darkening of the dark skin in the acne affected areas.

There are no acne treatments formulated for the use of only dark-skinned people. Acne treatments are as harmless on black skin as they would be on dark skin.

Home Treatments

Fruits and vegetables are effective for the cure of acne. People with black skin can apply a paste of cucumber, lime, honey, oats, lemon, tea tree oil, tomatoes, orange, oats and turmeric. They can wash it off after 15-30 minutes for the eradication of excess oil and the killing of bacteria causing acne.

It also should be noted, that many natural remedies not only recommend to merely drink plain old ordinary water, but actually adding herbal ingredients by boiling fenugreek seeds and corn into the water.

A mixture of nutmeg powder with unboiled milk when applied on the affected area regularly also helps to cure acne. Cinnamon powder mixes with honey is equally effective in curing acne. Boiled neem leaves when applied on acne acts as a disinfectant. The infected area should be washed with anti acne soap at least three to four times a day.

Hot/Cold Compresses - A chief natural remedy that is recommended more often than not is the usage of hot and cold wet towel compresses to reduce swelling and eliminate clogged pores–the major culprit in the production of acne.

Makeup should be strictly avoided when you’re suffering from acne. Makeup makes the acne conditions worse. Acne should never be squeezed as it may spread and become worse. Squeezing your it may also lead to permanent mark on your skin, which leaves your skin, looking ugly. Avoid your hair to fall on the acne-affected area. Hair should be kept tied to avoid contact with it. Pillow covers should be washed on daily basis to avoid the germ to spread. Regular cleansing of your skin should be done to keep it free from germs.

Apart from all these a healthy lifestyle should be followed, with proper balance of food, exercise and sleep. Remember if you take proper care of yourself no ailments can trouble you.
