How to Make Your Bike Commute Safer

Biking No Comments

There’s one big problem with using a bicycle to run errands and go to work; it can be dangerous. Car drivers are often not that careful and you have minimal protection. Take these steps to protect yourself as you ride.

1. Keep your bicycle in good condition.

Regular tuneups aren’t just for cars. They do bikes a lot of good too. Keep your tires inflated and your brakes in good condition. Bicycles are simple enough that you may be inclined to learn how to do a tuneup on your own, or you can take it a couple times a year to the bike shop. How often you go will depend on how much you ride your bike.

2. Use appropriate safety gear.

Never, ever forget your helmet, and remember that other safety gear can help too. But that helmet is vital! Bicycle helmets have saved many lives.

If you ride after dark or even just at dawn, dusk or cloudy days, have appropriate lights and reflectors on your bicycle. These can make you more visible to cars even when conditions aren’t perfect.

3. Remember that car drivers often don’t think about bike riders.

Sure, they’re supposed to. But too many don’t. It can help to avoid busy roads as much as possible, and to be particularly alert around driveways, corners and parked cars.

It’s particularly easy for a bicycle rider to hit an opening car door. It’s best if you approach a parked car from far enough out that they have a good chance to see you, you have to dodge only a little if a door does open, yet close enough in that you aren’t at risk from cars driving by. Not everyone checks when they open a car door along a street, and even if they do, a rider coming up from right behind the car may not have been visible in time.

Cars that are turning can be particularly dangerous. If they turn right, they may use the bike lane to get past other cars. If you’re passing in front of a driveway there may be cars pulling out and turning that aren’t aware of you. If you don’t think a car sees you, do your best to keep it from hitting you.

4. Remember the laws you need to follow too.

People driving in cars aren’t the only ones who fail to follow the rules of the road. Bicyclists can too. Try to not be in such a rush that you do unsafe things. You’re in more danger from cars than they are from you.

5. Don’t hug the curb.

It feels safer, but it’s not. Riding too close to the curb makes you less visible to many drivers.

Biking No Comments

Mountain Bike Tours provide an extremely exciting journey to take on. The mountain bike Tour packages are not like any other ordinary tour during the holidays, but journeys really exciting and adventurous. It gives you the opportunity to take on tough challenges and experience the vibrancy of different regions and cultures as well. If you feel interested, you would get plenty of opportunities, because there is a flourishing market for such rides.

Tours and packages

The tours on mountain bikes can be arranged by buying the vacation packages and through travel agents. But arrangements through touring guides would be the best option. The touring companies provide the tourists with guides, and some of the companies offer self-guided tours as well.

Mountain bike tour packages are usually organized for two or three days. They are generally arranged on dirt streets. There can be separate arrangements for women too. Nevertheless, if you are a novice, and taking on such a challenging journey for the first time, you must go for a well organized guided tour

Initially, it is going to be a difficult task to choose the right tourist agency. The best idea is to go with an established company, who can give full assurance of service and safety. You can also find the necessary information on the Internet.

Before booking, kindly check the cancellation process. Mostly, the tour companies do not charge any penalty if you are canceling your tour within 60 days of booking. But if you cancel it exactly on the starting day, the tour company usually forfeits the entire money.

In a guided tour, you would be shown the best suitable trails for biking. The guides frequently visit these places and are well acquainted with the local mass. Hence, you would not have to worry about which way to follow and where to stop, refresh or camp.

You must enquire about the touring company also before booking your ticket so that you are acquainted with the people who would be your companions. Some of the agencies would allow your family members to join and some would not. In some cases you have to bring your own bicycle with you, and it would solely be your responsibility to take care of it. The bicycle must have tough frames, good brakes and gears. You must also bring your helmet and gloves with you.

The most important thing while taking on a journey is to read a map and know the basics of navigation. You must also be prepared for an emergency, like a sudden injury or a breakdown. You also need to be a bit investigative in your approach, and decide where to ride and which place to avoid.

Wish you a journey full of energy, adventure and exploration.

Mountain Bikes Are Perfect Hill Heroes

Biking No Comments

Mountain bikes are specially meant for rough and rugged terrains. These extra traction and shock absorbing mountain bicycles are provided with fat knobby tires.

However, a full front and rear suspension is becoming quite a common factor nowadays with bikes meant for mountain rides. Some bikes of this particular variety are fitted with bar ends on the handlebars, but with recent trends the use of handlebars and extensions are becoming less and less popular.

Mountain bicycles have both 26 and 29 inches wheels. The larger wheels of this bike type have better rolling capacities over rocks and boulders. Moreover, wheels, which are larger in diameter, also bring about an enhancement in rotational weight giving way to stable acceleration.

Mountain Bicycles Kings On Rugged Roads

Based on suspension, mountain bicycles are broadly graded into four different kinds:

Bikes with dual or full suspension, These bikes have front suspension fork and rear suspension with a rear shock and linkage that is ready to make the rear wheels move on pivots

Hardtail bikes, These bikes have frames with no rear suspension and they are often supplied with front suspension forks

Soft Tail Bikes, These bikes have frames with small amount of rear suspension. The bikes are activated by flex of the frame rather than the pivots

Fully rigid bikes, These bikes have a sub-type of hardtail along with rigid fork system

The Different Types Of Mountain Bicycles

The Cross-Country Mountain Bike

This bike variety has small amount of suspension on the front or on the rear. These bicycles are comparatively light because they are constructed with lightweight materials both in frame construction and in components.

Some XC bike varieties of this particular type are without any suspension. They make use of rigid front fork that helps in saving weight. Here, the skill of the rider to pass through rough terrains is more important.

Freeride Mountain Bike

These are very similar to enduro bikes and emphasize more on weight and enhanced suspension. These bikes have ample suspension and they are mostly constructed with heavier materials. Freeride bikes are absolutely versatile and they are fantastic for uphill travel. The frame angles of such bikes are usually steeper in comparison to downhill bikes. Most freeride bikes are 30 to 45 pounds in weight.

Trials Mountain Bike

These are trial specific bikes. Most of these bikes are without any suspension. The contemporary trial bikes come without seats as most of the time the rider is out of the saddle. This bike is particularly lighter than other mountain bicycles and it weighs between 15 to 25 pounds. The lightweight makes it easier for the biker to maneuver the bike.

Single-Speed Mountain Bike

This is a kind of mountain bike with one set gear ratio. The ratio of the gear depends on the kind of terrain the bike crosses, the skill and strength of the bike rider and the size of the bike too. A single-speed bike is completely rigid having tough steel frames. If you want to ride a single-speed bicycle on mild to moderate cross-country terrains you have to be strong and active.

North Shore Mountain Bike

North shore mountain bike is genuinely constructed for rough and rugged land surfaces. A rider of this particular bike type has to exhibit lots of skill and balance while riding the bike. This bike is a wonderful combination of freeride and downhill bikes.

The other mountain bike varieties include Enduro Mountain Bike, Downhill Mountain Bike and Dirt Jumping Bike.

Most modern bikes meant for mountains have lighter and stronger frames with innovative design and form. The geometry of these bikes encourages vigorous riding over several obstacles like logs, rocks, wooden bridges and manually fabricated ramps. In the front, the bikes have three gears and it has 7, 8, 9, or 10 gears at the rear wheel position.

Some notable companies who have introduced the latest models of mountain bicycles include Fox, Manitou and Rock Shox along with other significant bike manufacturers. It is quite likely for you to make mistakes while riding a mountain bike. The mishaps generally take place due to equipment failure or misjudgment on the part of the rider.

Thus, several companies have come forward with protective gears referred to as armors to provide full protection from injuries. Some essential upper body protectors for riders include spine protector, full-face helmets and backpack hydration system.

It is quite an established fact that mountain bicycles are aptly designed following the present trend and demand. They are in fact the dream of every spirited and efficient mountain biker.

Wholesale Pocket Bikes Are a Great Deal At Low Cost

Biking No Comments

Wholesale pocket bikes are simply small motorcycles designed like a mini motorcycle. They are sleek and well built with an aluminum or steel frame. They may not be very fast but are fast enough to get you over hills. The actual speed they will give depends on the weight of the rider. However, all said and done, these pocket bikes are great fun to ride.

Riding pocket bikes is both great fun and learning experience, not to be missed by anyone, young or old. They may be small but give the same feeling of riding a regular motor bike, despite being slower. No wonder that in todays biking world a huge shift is taking place towards pocket bikes.

These pocket bikes run on gas as well as electricity. The ones running on gas are cheaper since they consume very little gas. You will also find these gasoline run pocket bikes speedier and easier to handle and get around, compared to ones driven by electricity.

There are some points to be kept in mind though. Pocket bikes are made essentially for racing and not for street driving. They should therefore be used with utmost care and caution, if they are racing bikes. More importantly, they are not meant for underage children. Also, racing pocket bikes are expensive. Finally, there should always be someone to attend the riders in case of any accident.

Buying a pocket bike

Pocket bikes are easily available. If you are looking to buy a pocket bike for recreational purposes then there are plenty of cheap bikes available at around $200. But if you are interested in a racing bike, it will cost you more and you will have to look a little harder. Since they are expensive, costing up to $4000, you must look for a wholesale bike to get a better deal.

You will find specialty stores selling racing pocket bikes but you may not strike a great deal at these places. You can visit dealers asking for any defective pocket bikes available for sale at a discount. Look up their bulletin boards for any sale offer or ask them if they know anyone wanting to sell their bikes. You can get good contacts at these places.

However, the place where you can a get a good deal is most likely to be on the Internet. On the Internet, you can negotiate with and purchase from dealers who sell at discounted or wholesale rates. You can also go to the manufacturers website and buy a new bike.

Try to join one of the forums where bike owners chat. Forums are a good place to spread the word that you are looking for a bike. You should meet the local pocket bike racers who may have a bike to sell. Also look for classified ads in the papers. These efforts and a little patience will pay ultimately.

BMX Bikes Are For Those Who Like To Live On The Edge

Biking No Comments

BMX Bikes are specially designed bicycles for racing on sandy and hilly tracks. Apart from racing on hilly terrains, bikers also perform tricks on flat grounds, wooden ramps and trails.

Earlier, bikes were manufactured with an assembled frame and fork, with two wheels and a seat. BMX bicycles originated in the state of California in the late 60s, but it was not until the beginning of 1961 that the bikes achieved great popularity. The manufacturers then began to produce these bicycles frequently.

BMX tricks and stunts are now very popular among the teenagers. There are numerous clubs and organizations where people can come to try their hands out on the BMX bicycles and practice the skills and tricks. With these early practices, the young bikers get acquainted with the common problems that may occur during the ramp performances.

Bike tricks are not easy for bikers. The stunts are quite tough to perform and you should undergo tough rehearsals in order to get fully ready. Some of the difficult tricks are like standing on the front pegs, and spinning the rest of the bike around. The skillful bikers can even summersault in the air. It may take lots of practice to master these tricks.

While riding the bicycles you should have ample protection. You must protect your elbows, knees and most importantly your head with the helmet. If you are interested in a look at the toughest BMX competitions, the X games on various sports channels can help you out.

The Designs Of BMX Bicycles

The main features of the bike:
1. Straight tubes
2. Gusseted frames
3. Reinforced handlebars
4. Powerful mag wheels
5. Long crankarms
6. Steel rims
7. Coaster brakes

The bike producers manufacture bikes with light body. The body of this bike is made of aluminum or chromium and molybdenum for frames and steel for the rims. Aluminum is also used for rims, freewheels and caliper brakes. The 24-inch versions of BMX bicycles are called Cruisers.

The frames of these bicycles are made to be very light and maneuvered accordingly, so that it can weather the blows while racing and jumping. Moreover, a light bike can save you precious minutes in a close race.

The tires of BMX bicycles are quite different from the road bikes. They are knobby with excellent traction and power. Another aspect that distinguishes the BMX tires from the others is in the construction of their wheels. Generally the rims are of 20 inches, but there can be different sizes too.

Sometimes the BMX bicycles fall hard and that is why the manufacturers have introduced Cro Moly tube sets to the BMX bicycles. A BMX bike with smaller gear set-ups reduce the weight of the bikes by using chain rings, smaller rear drivers, and shorter chain length.

Sales of these bicycles are much higher than the other ones. Bikes can be seen with every fashionable bike rider, on sidewalks and in their natural habitat. Instead of competing with anyone, a simple ride would be much more comfortable. While riding you have to be very conscious, and should not make too much experiments with your tricks. Do not forget to wear a helmet whenever you are riding.

Thus, the BMX bicycles are both, fashionable and powerful, providing you the ultimate passion for fashionable biking.

Mountain Bike For The Bike With A Difference

Biking No Comments

A mountain bike is particularly designed for riding on uneven and bumpy areas. Most mountain bikes have fat knobby tires, which ensure extra traction and appropriate shock absorption. A full front and rear suspension is becoming more common in the recent models of bikes meant to run on mountainous surfaces.

Modern bikers are less fond of handlebars and extensions though some bicycles under this particular variety are provided with end bars on the handlebars. Wheels of mountain bikes range from 26 to 29 inches. The larger wheels have better rolling capabilities and helps in rotational weight thereby making slower acceleration aptly possible.

The Best Varieties Of Mountain Bicycles

Enduro Mountain Bikes
The weight of Enduros vary between 30 to 35 pounds. These bikes feature greater suspension travel, say about 150mm of front and rear travel. They have been perfectly designed so as to ride the rough terrains with ease and satisfaction on the part of the rider.

Downhill Mountain Bikes
These bikes provide 8 or more inches of suspension traveling. The bodies of these bikes weigh less, which make them more apt for racing. Downhill mountain bicycles have tough construction and as they have provisions like large, high gears, they are aptly suited for riding down out-and-out downhill trails and racecourses.

Most downhill riding requires high-speed movement for which these bikes are provided with one chain ring, a large bush guard and a chain guide. In fact, Downhill Mountain biking is the most popular form of competition biking.

Dirt Jumping Bike

Dirt jumping bikes come in two types, Urban and Street Mountain bikes. These bikes are variable combinations of trial bikes like, BMX bike and freeride bike. This specific bike variety is extremely strong and possesses 0 to 4 inches of front suspension. They are mostly without any rear suspension along with fast-rolling, slick and semi-slick tires

Some other significant bike forms include Cross-Country Mountain Bikes, Freeride Mountain Bikes, Trials Mountain Bikes, Single-Speed Mountain Bikes and North Shore Mountain Bikes.

Mountain Bikes, Monarchs Of The Mountains

Depending on suspension, mountain bikes can be largely classified into four different varieties:

1. Soft Tail Bikes, These are bikes with negligible rear suspension. These bikes are made active by the flex of the frames rather than the pivots

2. Fully rigid bikes, Such bikes are provided with hardtail along with firm fork system

3. Bikes having dual or full suspension, These machines on road come with front suspension fork and rear suspension along with rear shock and linkage. Such mechanisms enable the rear wheel move smoothly on pivots

Hardtail Bikes, These bike varieties have frames without any rear suspension. More often, such bikes are provided with front suspension forks

The contemporary bikes for mountains are provided with stronger and lighter frame types in addition to pioneering form and design. The built of these bicycles give way to forceful riding over rocks, logs, wooden bridges and fabricated ramps.

Some of the most notable and advanced companies who have come forward to introduce the up-grading models of bikes include Manitou, Rock Shox and Fox together with other notable makers. When you ride a bike, you are likely to make mistakes and the fault may not always be yours.

Accidents and disasters can happen due to equipment malfunctioning or a wrong judgment as far as the rider is concerned. To put an end to such absurdities a number of companies have appeared on the scene with protective gears also known as armors.

Such equipments have been designed in a way so as to keep you absolutely safe from physical damages. The most significant upper body protectors for expert riders include full-face helmets, spine protector and backpack hydration system.

Before unleashing the beasts on the craggy lanes, the makers of mountain bikes have indeed kept in mind the present trends and demands.

If your habitat is situated at a particular corner of a skyscraper then it would be best for you to have a folding bike. Normal bikes with no chances of folding or packing need to be kept or stored at one corner of your garage area.

There is no need for you to worry if you live in a building with no lifts and elevators as carrying a folding bicycle down the stairs is not at all a problem.

Why does a folding bike feel so light?

The magic lies in its lightweight aluminum body. Folding bicycles come in different varieties. Folding bicycles are not an inexpensive lot. All you need to do is a little bargaining before you can aptly point your finger at one of the most exclusive folding bike models.

The Internet is there to inform you about the contemporary hottest folding bike types offered at affordable price ranges. Just do not go for straight purchasing. A wise choice needs some comparisons and evaluations before the final work done.

One problem with folding bicycles is that they have small diameter wheels, which cause problems on uneven surfaces. The bikes even have shock absorbers promoting a better and smother ride down the lane. They also come with quite a number of adjustments, which surely help you to settle down well on the bike.

How to be folded is indeed significant, but what puts folding bicycles on the top of the list is the fact that they can be easily stored and transported.

The World Of Rocky Mountain Bike

Rocky bikes are embossed with innovation, quality and value with exceptional design, fabrication, CNC-machining, paint and pre-assembly done in-house in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Rocky mountain bike is one of the leaders who realized that future biking is going to rely heavily on full suspension. They are the one who bought out the 3D Link multi-pivot linkage design years ago. There were bikes for huge downhill travel and free ride bikes. The want was of middle one, a lightweight design for more travel.

ETSX Or Energy Transfer System

The quest ended with ETSX. This is a featherweight package weighing 12.9 kilograms for the 19 inch size and literally you can do ANYTHING with this bike.

This is geared with a double A-arm design, which as per the claim of Rocky Mountain is derived from Formula 1 racecar suspension. The design is beautiful with light and small suspension components. The main pivot point lies above the crank and just in front of the seat tube.

Moreover, there is really no chain stay, which can get in the way of the drive train. Sealed bearings at all of the pivots make the construction superb. By and large the rear wheel stays firmly planted onto the ground and the extra special traction is smooth under all conditions. Now great news! You can flip a quick release and alter the travel from 3.5 to 4.5 inches for a good ride in rough terrains for long travels and for an easy climb to the top of the mountain.

Some Other Specialties Of ETSX

1. The frame is prepared with Easton Bi-Oval RAD tubing
2. The welding is rock solid and big

Dirt Bike Handguard , The Perfect Guards For Your Hands

Biking No Comments

A dirt bike handguard is vital for the extra protection it provides to the dirt bike riders. Dirt bikes have comparatively less engine power and are meant to run on rough and rugged terrains.

Leading manufacturers of dirt bikes like Honda, Suzuki, Husqvarna, KTM, Kawasaki, Yamaha and others have specially designed handguard systems for extra safety and grip. Dirt bikes are meant to run in competitions and therefore an added handguard is a must criterion of this mechanism.

The best hand guards for dirt bikes

The Enduro engineering handguard is the strongest, the fittest and the most attractive looking handguard in the market. Enduro handguard comes in two anodized colors of silver and black. Moreover, these handguards have clamps to successfully fit themselves in standard and oversized bars. For any off road motorcycle or ATV, these handguards serve to give the best.

You will generally come to see a handguard in four different clamp styles. These handguard varieties are aptly suited to 7/8 inch bars, for Pro-Taper 1 1/8 inch bar, Renthal 1 1/8 inch bars and Magura/TAG 1 1/8 inch bars.

It is very simple to install an Enduro Engineering handguard. Apart from the fact that they are quite pleasing to look at, this particular brand of handguard can surely stand the test of severe and relentless dust and abrasion. Most of these handguards have plastic or metal covering which can be easily replaced.

Now let us talk about the Moose Competition Handguard Protectors. These are flexible compounds, which cannot crack or shatter so easily. This particular handguard protector is available in aerodynamic and stylish design and provides utmost protection to your hands while on the ride.

They act as shields from brush, roost and elements. This particular handguard variety can be firmly installed to the bike. The handguards come in both large and standard sizes and are sold in pairs.

The dual black handguard is now becoming the most popular style. This handguard has a plastic mounting kit, which prevents it from interfering with the lever assembly.

Just take notice that the mounting kit is made of plastic. This provides immense elasticity to the mechanism and thus the handguard is able to bend and come back to shape again as required.

The next comes the Rally Brand Handguard. These handguards have original nylon wrapping. And are perfectly suited to overweight rides. The handguard comes with superior coverage and impact resistance.

They have inner ribs for an enhanced reinforcement. For outsized handlebars, there are optional spoilers, which are generally sold separately. This particular handguard variety is usually equipped with mounting kit to fit well within 7/8 inch steel and 7/8 inch aluminum handlebars.

A standard handguard is also available in PowerMadd modular design. Such handguards require more control lever and hand protection than wimpy plastic shields, which are generally offered.

This particular form of mounting hardware is aptly curved to provide cable and brake hose clearance and offers a number of mounting positions to fit well with any motorcycle and ATV.

A handguard is extremely essential when it comes to dirt bikes. You can kick off the dirt if you have proper handguards to grip the bike tight.

Mob Returns Stolen Bike

Biking No Comments

Cheryl was 30 year old single woman who enjoyed bicycle Riding. She loved to ride through the neighborhood. Everyone knew her as that nice friendly girl on the fancy bicycle. It was a hand crafted English racing bicycle, custom made just for her.

She was very proud of it because no onelse had one like it. One day she was riding her bicycle as a part of her daily routine. She rode past a wooded area in one of the neighbor hoods. There were usually lots of riders there, but today the trail was empty. As she passed a large brush, something hit her and made her loose control of her bicycle.

She fell and the bike went down too. As she was checking herself for injury, she saw a strange man approaching her he did not look very friendly. At that moment she realized that this guy had caused the accident and was about to cause her some major trouble. Lucklily she was not injured, so she rose to her feet, and started to run. The guy stopped, picked up her bike and proceeded to chase her.

She ran and ran until she came upon some other riders. She told them what had happened and they called the police. They also began a mob style chase of the guy with their bikes. They finally caught up with the guy and surrounded him until the police arrived. The guy was arrested and the bike returned to Cheryl.

Bicycle riding can be lots of fun. There are many hazards associated with riding bikes. Besides coexisting with other vehicles, bike riders have very little protection from the outside world. They are the subjects of animal, and vehicle attacks. They are also at risk from criminal attacks.

Always make sure your bicycle is in excellent mechanical condition as it may be you only means of escape in case of an emergency. Carry a cell phone to call for help, but do not rely on it for defense. If you choose to ride at night, keep your bike and yourself well illuminated. Obey the traffic laws when riding a bike.

If you choose to disobey traffic signals, you are more likely to become an accident victim. Ride on trails and roads designed for bike riding. Steer clear of area with low visibility. Criminals use this cover to hide for attacks. When possible, bike with a friend. There is safety in numbers and it makes you a less inviting target.

Carry a small package of emergency supplies with you on your ride. Bicycling is much like being a pilot you should file a plan that tells someone where you are going, in case of emergency. If you are going to park your bike be aware of the area where you park.

A parked bike is an indication that someone is riding and will return to claim the bike. A criminal can stake out the parking area and wait for you to return. As with automobiles check the area upon approach to your bike. Always lock your bike and be aware of your surroundings when unlocking.

Performance Bicycles: What Is Performance?

Biking No Comments

In order to talk about performance bicycles, we should start by defining the term. We all know what bicycle signifies, but what about performance? I think that many people tend to define the word performance as the ability to offer top operation, meaning top speeds, top maneuverability, and clockwork smooth mechanical functioning.

While all of those minor definitions certainly relate to an overall concept of performance, I would like to offer another perspective of performance as related to bicycles. Though we all want to be the next Lance Armstrong, our own best personal performance does not have to reflect world’s records for speed or distance.

In my opinion, for the non-professional bicycle rider, even the more serious bicycle rider, performance should really be an issue of finding the bike that best fits your lifestyle. This is going to include things other than top, high speed racing performance.

The best bicycle for the more common user has many non-race related factors to take under consideration. How much can I spend on a bike? I have to carry my bike upstairs, will the bike be heavy to lift? There are many practical concerns that may end up making more of a difference than trimming a couple seconds of your mile.

One thing to consider is where you will be storing your bicycle, and where it will be kept when you ride it to various destinations. You may not want to have a flashy top of the line bike in particular parts of town anyway.

And if you want to get into the topic of non-flashy bicycles, boy, could I talk your ear off. There are so many amazing things about recycling old bikes [recycled bicycles] into fabulously functional and affordable new bikes!

I remember when I was young, after a short period of ownership, dismantling and customizing my very fancy red and chromed Columbia touring bicycle that I had received one Christmas. The first items removed were the fancy chromed fenders and tail extension and of course the chrome chain guard.

I was not the only one of my friends who did this, risking the wrath of parents wondering why we took such expensive and fancy looking bikes and tore them down. I remember the Wynn brothers. They made chopper bicycles by mounting the front wheel fork and tube upside down in the bicycle frame giving the bike that motorcycle chopper look. This was our definition of a performance bicycle.

The Wynn brothers had a collection of used bicycles and bicycle parts that amazed me. What they did with those parts was even more amazing.

Sustain ability is the way to go. Every time we’re able to use what already exists we’re giving someone a new bike that may not be able to afford one otherwise. Or perhaps we’re merely saving a spot in a landfill where stuff he haven’t figured out how to recycle can go.

Consider all your concerns and interests surrounding the type of bike that will best fit into your lifestyle and your community. You may learn something about yourself and the other people like you living just next door.

Things To Know About Your Mountain Bike Parts

Biking No Comments

You are a biking champ - ruler of the vast mountain trails. But your fame will become dull if you do not understand the various parts of your mean machine. So to become a complete champ it is necessary to enhance your knowledge about different mountain bike parts.

The Basic Parts Of A Mountain Bike

The Frame

The frame of a mountain bike is smaller than that of a road bike. But the angle is very relaxing for the rider so that he can maneuver the bike with skillful agility over different grounds. Mountain bike manufacturers build bikes, which are gender specific. So while you buy a bike be sure to get the right sizing.

The Handlebars

The handlebars of a mountain bike are flat, usually as wide as the riders shoulders. However, depending on the riders preference it could be narrower or wider. Riser bars are fast becoming popular as it looks attractive and gives the riders a more upright position. You can add bar ends to the handlebars, which will allow more hand positions and give more comfort to the rider.

Bike Crank And Derailleur

A crank is connected to the bottom bracket of the frame with pedals attached to the tip of each crank. Crank has chainrings attached to it. The gear and chainrings are outfitted with derailleurs. The derailleurs, using the shifters that are placed at the handlebars, derail one gear to the other and the chain from one chainring to the other. The finer the quality of the derailleur the more exact the shifting will be.

Shifters

Shifters activate the front and rear derailleurs setting off the motion of the chain from one gear to the other.

Three basic types of shifters are:

1. Thumb Shifter: These are the most basic shifters that are fastened on top of handlebars and are operated by a push and pull of the thumb and the index finger respectively.

2. Rapid Fire Shifters: Rapid-fire shifters are generally fixed at the bottom of the handlebar and are activated by a two push buttons. For newer models a push and pull lever is used.

3. Grip Shifters: A grip shifter acts like a motorcycle throttle. To shift up to a lighter gear you have to turn the grip shift for the rear derailleur inwards. And to shift down to a heavier gear turn the grip shift outward.

Gear

Mountain bikes are meant to stomp on Steep Mountain trails and are usually equipped with outstanding gear ratios. The most popular one is the 36×34, which the mountain biker christens as granny gear. With this gear, you can trudge steep hills at a high tempo.

Brakes

Todays mountain bikes have passed the stage of coaster brakes. Today the V brakes or the linear pull type brakes are regular in mountain bikes. You can have Disk Brakes for high-end mountain bikes. Disk Brakes are highly proficient, as its feat does not get clogged by water or mud. You must keep your timing intact for a good braking performance.

Pedals

The mountain bike riders use two types of pedals. One is the toe clip, which can be made up of metal or plastic and is compatible with any kind of rubber shoe. The second type is the clipless pedal for which the biker has to wear a special kind of shoe. Clipless pedals raise the transfer of power from the rider to the bike.

Saddle

A saddle is necessary for your comfort while you chomp your way through a rugged ride. Make your seat comfortable with a perfect saddle for you.

Wheels and Tires

There are plenty of wheel sets in the market, which will ensure high performance. Mostly these wheels are durable and light but before buying a wheel keep in mind the safety factor.

Tires are the most important parts of the mountain bike. They should have a good grip for a smooth experience. A bad tire can sour up your whole journey ending it up in some gutter.

Suspension System

Today the suspension system has become essential for a mountain bike and with improved technology, suspensions are now cheaper and simpler to handle. This is evident in fork suspension system of hardtail mountain bikes.

Knowing about the components of a mountain bike will make your bike live long and healthy always ready for a rousing journey.

The 50cc Pocket Bike , Ride Along And Enjoy Yourself

Biking No Comments

The 50cc pocket bike is actually designed to look like a mini motorcycle. They are usually made of steel or aluminum and are sleek and small. These bikes do not have much speed but are a lot of fun in riding over the hills.

Pocket bikes are very popular nowadays as they give you the same kind of sensation as when you ride a motorcycle but only they are little slower. You should buy a pocket bike according to your size and weight. Different varieties are available with a host of dealers and you should be able to find a bike, which suits your style.

The different types of Pocket bikes

Pocket bikes may be run either on gas or electricity. Pocket bikes that are run on gasoline will be cost effective as they use up very little gas and also will be faster than on the ones run on electricity.

The bikes that run on battery are cheaper than the gas powered ones but they are just as exciting to ride on. Moreover, they are better for children as they do not pickup high levels of speed.

Pocket bikes may be purchased in the department stores or motorcycle shops. But before buying, decide what you are going to use it for. With this in mind gather more information from the dealers. This helps you in choosing the safest and the ideal pocket bike for yourself to have fun with.

What to buy?

If you are planning to use your pocket bike just for fun, you will have to spend around US$400 upwards whereas if you are intent on racing you will need to spend much more to get that perfect bike. The ones manufactured in Italy are considered of the best quality and hence costlier. These are recommended if you intend to race. The Chinese variety is much cheaper and ideal for recreation. So spend your money wisely.

For your own safety

As the 50cc pocket bikes are quite small, they are not very comfortable. When you go for a test ride be sure that your body parts are not touching anything that they should not. After all this is looked into, you can easily control the turns in your bike. Be sure to buy accessories like a helmet, gloves, leather jacket, and chaps as they will protect you in case of an accident.

Moreover, be sure to make enquiries about spare parts availability. These 50 cc variety of pocket bikes include:
1. Engine of 50 cc with loading of 100 kilograms
2. Start and brake
3. Suspension
4. Front line and rear line
5. Drive

Mountain Biking , For The Adventure Loving Lot

Biking No Comments

Mountain biking, as the name suggests, is a biking sport in which bicycle-riders ride along mountain trails. Biking through a mountain terrain is pure fun, but it also has its share of adventure and excitement. The best-known locations for biking in mountainous surroundings have unpaved surfaces and so you need to be an expert biker to truly experience the thrill.

History

Since their invention, bicycles have been used on all terrains, including rugged mountainous territories. However, it was not until 1970s that biking in the mountains became an organized sport.

Groups of bicycle-riders from different parts of the United States played a pivotal role in the evolution of this thrilling biking-sport , experimenting with bikes of different makes and modifying them so that they could take the rigors of riding in the uneven, craggy mountainous lands.

The Mountain Bike Hall of Fame, however, bestows the honor to a group of bikers in Marin County, California. The group (consisting of famous names in this field like Gary Fisher, Joe Breeze, Keith Bontrager and Otis Guy among others) undertook bike-ride down Mount Tamalpais (Mt Tam) on old 1930s and 40s Schwinn bicycles retrofitted with advanced brakes and fat tires.

The first proper mountain bike was built by Joe Breeze in 1977. The present-day mountain bikes are based on the bicycle first marketed by the MountainBikes Company. The frame of this particular bike was built by Tom Ritchey and it was accessorized by Gary Fisher and Charlie Kelly.

Types

Bikers usually engage in four different kinds of cycling tours in the mountains:

1. Cross-Country (or XC) biking is the most familiar type mountain riding sport and naturally has the maximum number of followers. The sport involves riding between points or in loops. It includes ascents and descents on different terrains. (Cross-Country racing competitions are different from cross-country biking). A typical XC bike weighs some 22-28 lbs and it has 0-4 inches of suspension travel front and rear.

2. Freeride is the other popular type of biking in mountain trails. It restricts the biker with no specific rules rather allows the rider to do anything and everything downhill rides (without clock), jumps, stunts , that require skill and are hence meant for professionals. Freeride biking requires the rider to assemble the bike as per convenience and style, but these bikes are a bit heavier (weighing between 30 and 40 lbs) and are amply suspended (generally has 6 inches of suspension front and rear).

3. Downhill, as the name suggests, involves riding mountain bikes downhill. It is generally associated with racing-oriented downhill riding. Downhill biking does not require the rider to pedal up the hill. The bikers along with their bikes are transported up the hill with the help of a truck or ski-lift. The downhill climb is indeed challenging including jumps and drops as well as physical hindrances. Tough mentality, physical strength, swiftness and mounted heavy bikes weighing some 40-50 lbs make you eligible for these races.

4. Trials riding, which is quite similar to skateboarding, involves hopping and jumping over obstacles with your bike. It demands great sense of balance and control. The riders make use of special bikes that make use of 20″, 24″ or 26″ wheels fitted to small, low frames.

The following tips will prove helpful if you are planning a bicycle-trip in the rocky, hilly terrains for the first time:

1. You must have stamina and endurance to bike down a mountain.

2. Selection of a superior quality bike, especially one that perfectly meets your type of mountain riding is also very crucial.

3. You cannot avoid minor cuts and bruises but you can certainly prevent major mishaps by resorting to precautionary measures, buying yourself some protection in the form of helmets, knee-caps and elbow-caps. A good pair of goggles will also prove handy.

4. Special competitions are organized by various mountain bikers groups and you can join in with them. If you choose to go on your own, you will need to collect all relevant information , routes, rules, et al.

5. Whether you go with a bikers group or go biking all by yourself, you must remember to carry your equipment kit so that you can take care of all your bicycle-repairs.

Big Pocket Bikes , Enjoy Racing On Tracks

Biking No Comments

Big pocket bikes are designed to be used for street use as well as racing. Therefore they are bigger in size compared to the original pocket bikes.

The original pocket bike

Original pocket bikes are known as mini motos. They are small sized motorcycles of about 47 inches long and 18 inches tall. They are usually run on gas.

Pocket bikes are speedy bikes. The smaller varieties reach the speed of 35 kilometers per hour. The racing models can reach speed up to 45 miles per hour whereas the higher end ones can be as fast as 50 miles per hour.

These bikes have many similarities with ordinary bikes like the disc brakes, tires, fairings, light perimeter frames and swing arms. The smaller versions are portable and can be easily carried under your arms.

The bigger version of the pocket bikes

Whereas the original pocket bike is small and sleek, and has a 50cc engine, the bigger bikes have a 100cc 4 stroke engine. They also have bigger structures and are bulkier. They are also known as midi motors or midi bikes.

You are not meant to use the small bikes on the streets as they are only meant for racing. So due to popular demand, the bigger version has come into being for use on the roads as well.

These larger bikes are double the size of the authentic pocket bikes. And can reach the speed of 65 miles per hour. However, large they may be, they are still smaller compared to mopeds but sleeker to look at.

Points to remember while using a pocket bike

1. It is obligatory to have a motorcycle license to be able to ride on your bike on the street in some states. Enquire in your states licensing office for the legal age.
2. Bigger pocket bikes are not as easy to ride on, as they require greater balancing skills, so be sure to practice on the bike prior to hitting the road.
3. Be sure to have proper lights and rear view mirrors on your bikes
4. You have to follow all the safety rules and be very cautious while riding on these bigger bikes.

The rules vary from state to state so what applies in one state will be not applicable in the other. If you find that bigger pocket bikes are not allowed by law to be ridden on your streets, please follow the instructions. If you waive the law then you stand a chance to be fined and even jailed. The authorities have good reasons to frame laws in order to prevent accidents and injuries. So, have all this in mind and thoroughly enjoy a good ride.

Birdy Folding Bike , Your True Compact Travel Companion

Biking No Comments

Launched in the year 1995 by the award winning German design firm Riese and Muller, the Birdy bikes are lauded in the international market because of their innovative design and performance. The revolutionary dual suspension design of a Birdy folding bike introduces that smoothness to each ride that is otherwise characteristic of expensive full-sized bicycles only.

The first fully suspended folding bicycles, the Birdie bikes make use of one-piece solid yet lightweight aluminum frames. The suspension pivots take care of the folding mechanism in the absence of the mainframe hinges. This clever designing together with the use of 18 inch wheels make the bikes very stable and sporty.

The Birdy bicycles fold in less than 30 seconds without the use of any tools. With the folded size of a Birdy bicycle being some 30″ x 23″ x 11″, it is quite easy to store them in small places and carrying cases. The lightweight frames (mostly weighing around 24 lbs) make the Birdy bikes very portable.

The different gearing options, firm framing and dual suspension design of Birdy folding bikes render them suitable for being used for many purposes other than commuting. Use them for pleasure rides and touring as well as for sporting use.

Mountain Bike Shoes ,Tread The Toughest Terrain

Biking No Comments

Mountain bike shoes are specialized footwear. They are customized for the kind of cycling you plan to do, the model of your cycle, the terrain you are going to cover and finally your personalized needs.

However, the basic criterion that makes a cycling shoe is determined by the pedal of the bike.

Originally, biking shoes were made of hard leather soles made firmer with a metal or plastic shoe plate or cleat nailed to it. The cleat had a slot that fitted into the pedal of the cycle, while the toe clip and strap worked to keep the bikers grip on the pedals.

When the clipless pedal became the norm, the features of the cycling shoes had to be modernized accordingly. Hence, the shoes featured cavities or clefts to smoothly accommodate cleats for clipless pedal machines for instance in Shimano’s SPD (Shimano Pedaling Dynamics) and LOOK.

Special features of modern cycling shoes.
Mountain cycling shoes have features that make it safe and ideal for this fun filled yet highly challenging activity. They are:

1. Sole is very smooth, tough and inflexible
2. Sole is slightly curved at the ball of the foot that works to transfer force and pressure to the toe while cycling
3. Adaptable while in use
4. Features either velcro straps or even more complex straps instead of laces
5. Unhooks easily

Types of cycling shoes soles

The stuff the sole is made of and degree of tread it ensures determines the weight of the shoe, which is vital to this special footwear. There are generally three kinds of soles available:

1. Economical brands feature an injection-molded plastic sole. However, they are heavier and prone to flexing.
2. Moderately priced brands have a combination sole, either made of plastic and carbon fibre, plastic and fibreglass, or completely carbon fibre.
3. Premium brands manufactured post-2002 use carbon fibre soles.

How do the cleats of mountain cycling shoes differ from others?
The kind of pedals your cycle features determines the cleat. A clipless type pedals requires some specific cleats.

Mountain biking shoes generally come with a sunken cleat and studs lining the sole. This helps negotiate the tough terrains. These mountain specific cleats are smaller than those designed for road shoes (that generally have protruding cleats and are attached with three bolts) and are fixed to the shoe with two bolts.

Quality of the shoe

For knowing the quality of the shoe you plan to buy, check the following:
1. The firmness and grip of the sole: A stiff sole ensures better pedaling
2. What is it made of?: Premium brands come with carbon soles
3. Breathability: It should ensure good air circulation and coolness
4. The total weight of the shoe: The lighter the better
5. Durability: It is a must to endure the tough terrain
6. Comfort: Your feet must be at ease while you ride

Folding Mountain Bikes , Your Travel Mates, Your Convenience!

Biking No Comments

Folding mountain bikes are essentially practical bicycles, which are easy to store and transport. These mountain bikes can be folded in seconds and you will not even need any special rack for these bikes. Just put it inside your suitcase and carry it like another piece of luggage inside a car, boat, train or even inside an airplane.

The folding technique of mountain bikes is a patented military design and it was initially used to develop full-sized folding bikes for the US Marines and paratroopers for strategic use.

A folding mountain bike is a bit expensive when compared to a non-folding mountain bike. Despite the price-factor, purchasing a foldable bike will be advantageous in every respect. Actually, the manufacturers of folding mountain bicycles have not compromised with the sturdiness or toughness of the bikes in making them foldable (and hence portable).

As regards choices, these days you simply have plenty of choices with manufacturers like Airnimal, Montague launching a great many models that allow easy, convenient loading and unloading. Select from among the many lightweight yet tough bikes, choosing as per your requirement.

Following beneath are descriptions of some top foldable mountain bikes available in the market:

Hummer

Montague-made Hummer is a high-tech folding mountain bike. The Hummer bicycle, designed after full-sized military bikes, has normal wheels with knobby tires and hence it can be used on any terrain. It takes around 30 seconds to fold a Hummer and the folded bicycle measures just 36inches x 28inches x 12inches. The folding is accomplished without the use of tools.

The Hummer is essentially lightweight yet it is perfectly tough and durable. Other plus-points of this bicycle are Shimano precision index shifters for a quick gear change, 24 speed Shimano drive train and a front suspension with a front disk brake.

Paratrooper Mountain Bike

The market-leaders have launched yet another folding mountain bike, the Paratrooper Mountain Bike. A very tough bike, the Paratrooper folds and unfolds in less than 30 seconds. This superb braking power and excellent engineering behind this Montague bike makes it unparalleled for rugged terrains. Montague also markets important accessories like foldable pedals and carrying cases , both hard and soft cases.

Airnimal Rhino

Airnimal Rhino, Airnimals first officially launched off-road bike is a folding mountain bike. Its 20inch wheels and front and rear suspension make it perfect for all terrains.

Giatex Stretching Bike

The Giatex Stretching Bike is based on a new folding concept. In this case, it is not the frame that folds from the middle, rather the steering column and the rear part that are folded down. The folded bike measures about 37 inches.

Bike Fridays

Bike Fridays made by Green Gear Cycling Inc. are revolutionary finds because they are collapsible bikes rather than foldable. The assembling and disassembling takes time, but the new bikes are, performance wise, excellent.

If this be so, then go in for the folding bikes. And in particular, the Dahon folding bikes should be your choice.

Folding bikes are bicycles with a lot of hinges and joints that can be folded up to trim the size of the bike. And with the bicycle frame brought down to a manageably wieldy size, you can carry it around in public transport; have it stashed away in your car or in some corner of your apartment. Folding bikes also do not require much of a parking space, making it easy for you to travel with it.

Dahon is never short on ideas when it comes to folding bikes. It has several innovative and groundbreaking bike models to its credit, all hugely popular amongst the biking fanatics.

For instance, you have the Allegro make that has its frame modeled upon the famous Ritchey Logic frame. And you can be rest assured about the quality of the machine because the frame is hand-welded from the Italian-made Ritchey WCS steel tubing. However, the prime allure of this Dahon make is the fact that it can be bundled into a small suitcase in only about 10-15 minutes.

The very popular Ciao P5 folding bike from Dahon is a bikers delight, and especially the rookies, people with back or leg injuries and women wearing flowing dresses.

This stylish bike comes with an assortment of bells and whistles like the Hella lighting system to help you in the dark; SKS mud guards to ensure that the ride does not turn out to be too muddy and also an ArcLight rack to hold your paraphernalia.

Dahon has broken all myths regarding the folding bikes being fragile with its Fuego model. When folded, this pint-sized dynamite is basically a full suspension MTB designed to suit the demands of pro-standard Marathon/Enduro riding. This is a robust bike featuring a double-butted 7005 aluminum frame that also incorporates 4-4.5 inches of front and rear travel suspension, the Patented Interlock Joint Technology and the legendary Joe Murray LSR linkage technology and Threshold Linkage Design. BMX Ramp Plans For Safe, Solid Ramps

Biking No Comments

BMX bike riding is a very popular game due to the thrill and excitement it involves. However, some experts simply relate the popularity of this game to the high cost of gasoline. This exciting sport requires a lot of practice on the part of the rider and excellent infrastructure to ensure safety and performance.

The most important infrastructure is a well-built BMX ramp required for riders to practice and perform their skills. Full-proof BMX ramp plans are essential pre-requisites for a good BMX ramp. Ask anybody who has built a ramp and many will tell about the hell they went through because they lacked a plan.

There was a time when bikes were considered merely an assembly of frame, fork, two wheels and a seat. These bikes have come a long way since then. The BMX bikes are one of the latest additions to the ever-growing list of bikes. Now with increasing popularity of BMX bikes, towns and cities are constructing BMX ramps on both indoor and outdoor sites where BMX riders would be able to practice and display their skills.

All You Wanted To Know About Ramp plans

Before starting construction, you must decide on the kind of ramp you want, because ramps come in many shapes and sizes and are very expensive to make. These ramps allow the rider to perform not only old tricks but also to create and practice new tricks. If you have an earlier experience with building skateboard ramps then that would be of much help as skateboard ramp plans and ramp plans for BMX bikes are very similar.

If you are building a small ramp then a garage or your home backyard will suffice. In case you are making a big one then it is better to build the ramp at the site. In case of ramps being built on outdoor sites many of the obstacles and ramps are made from the dirt available at the site. Often, besides the ramps and mounds for stunt biking, courses are also laid for racing bikes.

There are instances of people who made ramps without any plans. So they went and bought any kind of timber. The result was that the so-called ramp had the worst transitions and the structure fell apart within weeks. A lot of money spent for nothing.

You will need money but at the same time try and cut costs wherever possible. Remember timber costs a lot and so does tools. One way to reduce costs would be by hiring tools. Some ramp plans, that are available free of cost, are not the best. So you might have to buy some plans. Such plans are available on the Internet and come at a price.

Having decided on the type of ramp to build, sketch out the dimensions on paper. Then acquire the materials required but remember to get as much wood as you can.

A Triathlon Bike - What You Should Know Prior To A Triathlon Race

Biking No Comments

You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars to be able to perform your best in a triathlon competition. You might be riding the best equipments and gears in the world but without enough strength, training and willingness to outdo everybody else, your investments may be mere nothing.

Aside from the entry ticket, you are sure to finish the race with a great sense of achievement at a minimal cost and lots of hardwork.

For starters, verging into a triathlon competition is really a task. After all, the same is true for the triathlon warriors. So anything worth starting with will do. You need not punch holes in your pockets for a new bike, it is best to test the waters first. You might spend grand on the latest gears only to find out later that triathlon is not your stuff. Make do with what you have first and later decide if triathlon lifestyle is truly yours to live.

The bike stage takes most of the course in a triathlon race. This is the make it or break it ground. The edge you have earned earlier with the swim stage would mean nothing if you tarry on the second leg of the race. The easiest option you can choose is to play with the crowd and stick with them if you can’t get over them.

With this idea in mind, you can rest assured that the best training you may have is group training. There are regular weekend bikers that will help you get better. You may practice on your own but crowded biking is different from solo biking.

What’s good with these folks is that they understand the techniques of training and so if you are a beginner, you’ll be given the advantage of benefiting from those that will give allowances for trainees like themselves. But beware, training in this manner will cause you to react in two ways- to find your comfort zone or to bring out the best from you by encouraging you to be like the best of them. Nevertheless, they may still pass on some tips that will better your game. Like with swimming, you may get the kicks of the person swimming in front of you but that way, you will be trained.

One of the most common question, a triathlon beginner would ask is: “What is the difference between a triathlon bike and a road bike?” This is a very important question to ask since the two might appear the same. But deeper evaluation would reveal that there is something special about triathlon bike that could not be seen on a regular road bike. But before enumerating these, you must remember that using triathlon bike is not limited to triathlon events. Even on solo ride, triathlon bike works best.

Triathlon bike provides an easy transition from swim to bike and from bike to run. And this is perhaps the most special thing about triathlon bike. Remember that transition from discipline to another is still part of the race and therefore must be done smoothly. Since bike comes after the swim and before the run, the bike used should be designed in a way that the triathlete can easily mount and dismount.

Among all 3 events, the longest part of the race is bike and therefore, the bike to be used must be designed in a way that it can provide comfort to the rider. Triathlon bike is designed in this way. Also, the triathlon bike design is very efficient in giving the aerodynamics that provides speed. The elbow rest are designed to be low so that the rider maximizes his or her every kick. The Garside Study in 2001 disclosed that triathletes who use triathlon bike run faster that those who use the regular road bike on the same covered distance.

From bike to run, the triathete should have enough energy to finish the race. Since triathlon bike is designed to be efficient and comfortable, the rider saves a lot of energy that is important to finish the race. To be particular, riding a triathlon bike provides less cramp on the lower back muscle due to its geometrical construction. It is important to note that a road bike can cause your muscle to tighten that might effect your transition especially on the first two kilometers of the run. This would give you enough difficulty to keep you from effectively maximizing the time.

To simply put it, the triathlon bike would give you the speed you need not only on the bike but also on the run. These advantages provide you with the much needed energy and comfort during the race.

Guidelines In Choosing Your Custom Triathlon Apparel

Biking No Comments

There must be some reasons why when it comes to triathlon apparels, it is purely a personal preference of the racer. Well, of course team uniforms mark the exemption. Depending on the agreement or the rulings as imposed by a team, racers are issued or mandated with a single type of uniform. In general, however competitors are allowed with their choice.

One theory is to give allowance to the comfort level of the racer himself or to provide him some freedom in choosing his own apparel. Being able to decide for your personal suit and gears would do good in making the race more endurable, considering that it is composed of three disciplined endurance games. And what more may be better than having your custom triathlon apparel?

Yes, there may be some good triathlon shops both offline and online that may provide you with their best wetsuits, shorts and tops and accessories. However, there simply are no standard sizes that would perfectly fit every racer. We all have our unique anatomies. And being so particular with the fitting of your apparel would surely create some troubles when shopping for one.

Custom triathlon apparels may not give you everything that you would desire in a suit however, it can provide most of the things that you must have. A perfect fit, materials that are of your personal selection and a design that you actually helped conceptualized. It’s just so personal. If you would not want running, swimming or biking next to a person wearing the same wetsuit or shorts as you have then save troubles by customizing your triathlon apparel.

Custom triathlon apparels are not only for the solo flighters. Actually, most team uniforms are either bought by bulk or custom made. Thus, the effect of having an identity that covers the idea of a single group. It’s just a matter of choosing your own or your team’s design or allow a professional to take all troubles for you.

With customized triathlon apparel, you may have a better sense of confidence for which you may cling to in case everything else fails. The belief of being an individual running race against everyone else and a race for himself. Or a team being unified with a single personality earning points and a common confidence that will help lead each member to the desired goal.

Triathlon shorts are quite hard to recommend due to our unique anatomical structures. This means that measurements of the crotch, butts and lengths vary largely depending on the persons using them. In shopping for your own, it would be best to try on as much types and models as you can to secure that your last choice will fit you comfortably. It will always be miss or hit and you have to pray for your luck. We cannot provide you the exact answers but allow us to help by presenting several factors that will help lead you towards better choices.

Price
You get what you pay for, this rule generally applies to almost all items that we see in the market. Better toss a few more dollars on a triathlon shorts that will help add to your performance than sacrifice to ill-fated shorts. Cheaper triathlon shorts are more likely to be substandard items. Cheap shorts cant provide you durability either because for most conditions, manufacturers cut through quality to give way to quantity of production.

Panels
The more panels the shorts have the higher the quality the manufacturer incorporated in the product. Additional panels won’t damage the product, as many people believe. Actually they create more strength.

Liner
Any self-respecting triathlon shorts manufacturers know that apart from the shorts itself, the liner plays the major role. Don’t go for those that are made from plastic compartments, thick paddings or gel inserts.

Leg length
Fashion dictates the length of triathlon shorts. And as we have seen, the length has been yo-yoing around that no one can actually tell what’s best and what’s not. It is after all, a personal choice between short shorts or not-so-short shorts.

Waist length
While we have been discussing how unstandardized triathlon shorts can be, the waist length marks as an exception. To be able to provide enough comfort during cycling, the waist length must be cut high back. And the front side must be cut low so bending is easier.

Importance Of Training For A Triathlon To Avoid Injuries

Biking No Comments

Plan remains to be a plan not until some action pushes it to realize its potentials. All of us are capable of making a good start and see our start to its end with each plan that we do. However, our greatest fear is not that we cannot make them. It is the fear that we know our capacities yet we never maximize them nor use parts of them.

In a game of endurance, we have to understand that we should optimize our full strengths and work on our failures as we flex our physical and mental muscles to work. Proper training may help you gather majority of their benefits yet there are always some things that you inertly have which largely contribute to your mastery of the sports.

It all starts with a plan, a goal that is workable. Achievable goals are more likely to lead you to success than those placed beyond your reach. Triathlon training will not only accustom your physical body to the risk of joining the game, it will also recreate your willingness to continue despite the fatigue and the ever-present negative voice that tells you “you wont make it, quit it now or race in vain”.

Triathlon trainings vary in length. A few months may m
